  • How To Defeat Larger Attackers
By: Matthew McKernan | - In the SDTS we naturally assume everyone who chooses to mess with us is bigger. After all, when sizing someone up, it's the first thing you evaluate (um..that's why it's called it "sizing up").

We don't just assume he's bigger. We also assume he has friends, is armed, has intent on harming us and is willing to do so. We also make some more assumptions...like we may be fighting on ice, in the parking lot, or even in the sand or in the woods. We also think that we're probably going ...

  • Your Soul And Your Mind
By: Ed Young | - But it"s not just sex. I can"t park my soul outside the bedroom. When you engage in sex outside of marriage, it"s unnatural. You"re taking just one aspect of sex""the physical" "and you are doing it with someone in a physical domain, and you think it"s just physical. But see, you can't do something that does not affect your soul and your mind. You can't use God. You can't rape sex. Because when you take sex out of its context, you're raping it. You're abusing it. • Putting A Human Face To Tragic History In The Diary Of Anne Frank And To Kill A Mockingbird
By: Paul Thomson | - Perspective is everything. Oftentimes, it makes the book what it is. Consider The Diary of Anne Frank. The Diary of Anne Frank is often considered a literary exemplar that stands for the atrocities during the Holocaust. It is taught in high school classes and served up as examples on CAHSEE, alongside history lessons of World War II, Hitler and Nazis, serving as a primary source or historical document to study and understand the lives of Jewish people in war-torn Europe. Yet, the deeper power of ...

  • Depictions Of Racism In To Kill A Mockingbird And The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer And The Social Psycho
By: Paul Thomson | - Right around the age of 10, there is a marked shift in a child's perspective. The world is no longer simply a wonderland of curiosities, but a popularity contest. Girls begin to wear makeup and form cliques, and boys become showmen, proving themselves with their fists. Think of Mean Girls or The Outsiders. In Lacan's terms, once we identify ourselves as "other" in the mirror stage, the beasts of jealousy and self-consciousness arise. This is a time in psychological terms in which children, g ...

  • Feminist Jurisprudence Alienates Fathers From Their Unalienable Rights
By: Shane Flait | - Fathers can't believe they're treated so badly in Family Court - like criminals - when they've done nothing wrong. Like each of us, they understand our fundamental rights are supposed to be protected, especially in a court. But what they don't know is that feminist jurisprudence has infiltrated our court systems leaving their fundamental rights a distant second to the greater good excuses of a state-based judicial tyranny.

Feminist jurisprudence refers to judicial decisions that su ...

  • Casey Anthony Part 2. Can She Be Saved And Redeemed? Or Has She Committed The Unforgiveable Sin?
By: Roger Himes | - Simply stated, God sees life differently from the way we see life. "My thoughts are higher than your thoughts, and my ways are higher than your ways" (Isa 55:8-9). The gospel allows us to see things from God's perspective, many things block gospel truth from us as I continually point out.

One issue raised by someone was that, even though Casey was acquitted, everyone thinks she's guilty, and hers was a double-sin. She not only killed her daughter Caylee, but she got away with it. ...

  • Justice Not Served: The Failings Of Judgment And Trial In Of Mice And Men And To Kill A Mockingbird
By: Paul Thomson | - The American idea of justice sometimes operates under a layer of mythology. Our "innocent until proven guilty" principle predicates itself on the idea that those accused of a crime will have a fair trial and would be justly judged by their peers. No puritanical Scarlet Letter rashness here anymore. Instead, it is an elaborate system established to thwart prejudice and to prevent the public jumping to conclusions, to protect the innocent and to punish the guilty.

Headline News demagogue Nancy Grace would have issued her the death penalty and carried out the sentence herself. Yet twelve members of the public decided that they did not have enough evidence to convict Casey Anthony of murdering her daughter.
