- The Road Imagines A Permanent Lost Highway
By: Sean Chavel | - As a master of playing characters with a good and evil duality, Viggo Mortensen is the only actor in the world that could have played the father in "The Road." Although the father isn't exactly evil, he is a good man that has disposed his better virtues because he believes it is better for his son's and his own chances for survival.
On an ash incinerated earth, a little boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee) gradually exceeds the faith of his own doubting father and matures beyond his age. In a ... Tags: The Road Cormac McCarthy Adaptation Movie Review Sean Chavel California Cozy

- Gomorrah - A Full Movie Review
By: James Woolley | - Gomorrah is a thrilling organized crime film focusing on Italian gangs. The story focuses on the hideous damage the Italian gangs cause. In fact the film starts off with a brutal murder in typical Italian mafia fashion.
If there is one way to describe Gomorrah, it's 'brutally honest'. There are really no punches pulled in this grizzly movie.
The movie is a loose translation of Camorra. Camorra is the city of Naples' organized crime network's name. Gomorrah is the ci ... Tags: gomorrah, gomorrah review, gomorrah movie review, gomorrah movie, gomorrah film
- Movie Review - American Film Institute Rates Wilder's "some Like It Hot" As The Best Comedy Ever
By: Ed Bagley | - Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley
Some Like It Hot – 2 Stars (Average)
In its day, "Some Like It Hot" was a hot ticket, being nominated for six Oscars and winning one. Released in 1959, this black-and-white film also served as the greatest comedy platform for its three main characters—Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), Joe as "Josephine" (Tony Curtis) and Jerry as "Daphne" (Jack Lemon). Lemon was the actor, Monroe was the sex symbol, and Curtis was the looker.

Is it possible for your two leads to be nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress Golden Globe Awards and yet your magnum opus is average at best?

Steel Magnolias - 4 Stars (Excellent)
It isn't often that a guy could get pulled into a movie about a bunch of women sharing their lives, loves, hopes, dreams, struggles and tragedies in a beauty shop, but Steel Magnolias reeled me in like bait on a fishhook.

By: Ed Bagley | - Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley
Serendipity - 2 Stars (Average)
"Serendipity" begs the question: "Can you trust pure fate or destiny to bring two people together when the odds of doing so are impossible?"
A common definition of fate is "the development of events outside a person's control", and a common definition of destiny is "the hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future". Given this perspective, the odds are long and not good. Whic ... Tags: movie, review, Oscar, Academy Award, Serendipity, Kate Beckinsale, John Cusack

It is rare when you can say that a movie is so warm and wonderful that it can even overcome a manipulative, vindictive authority figure and a husband guilty of spousal abuse, but "Chocolat" manages to do so with some great acting, writing and directing.

Something to Talk About - 3 Stars (Good)
"Something to Talk About" stars Julia Roberts, which immediately makes me think romantic comedy, but trust me when I said that this 1995 film has more drama than comedy as it tackles a subject prevalent in today's modern marriages—adultery.

We may never know how Audrey Hepburn ended up playing opposite William Holden in the romantic comedy "Paris - When It Sizzles". What we can say without doubt is that it was the worst movie of her illustrious career.

All of us can probably name numerous franchises that never live up to the original in the series.
