  • Karate Kiai And The Secret Of Kotodama
By: Al Case | - Karate Kiai translates as 'spirit shout,' and it is the deadly scream that karate practitioners emit when chopping somebody's head off. Well, maybe I stated that a little strongly, grin, but there is a truth to the karate shout that is undeniable and leads to some rather arcane and mysterious knowledge. I am speaking, of course, of the practice of Kotodama, which translates as 'Word spirit.'

The notion behind a Karate kiai is to commit all of ones energies into one moment, one karat ...

  • A Better Method For Learning Martial Arts And The Three Ways Of Thought
By: Al Case | - Learning Martial Arts should be as simple as walking, but some martial art sensei would have you believe that it takes long decades. The unhappy truth is that these same martial arts experts are the ones making it difficult to learn. Most instructors teach the subject using the most inefficient method on the planet.

This article is going to be about the three methods of human thought and how those methods impact on the instruction of such arts as karate or kung fu. Just understandin ...

I came up with the following seven ways for protecting your domicile after being a manager at an apartment house. What I say here applies to everything, homes or even vehicles.

  • Gangs Learn Martial Arts By Joining The Army!
By: Al Case | - This is an awful notion, that a gang member could learn martial arts by joining the army. The sad truth, however, is that gang recruitment is up, severely, and these gangs are actually using the military for training in martial arts, combat weapons, and all manner of skills. This could be utterly terrifying, if you think about it, a gang member being trained as a soldier and then turned loose on the streets of America.

That the number of these criminals enlisting in the military is ...

There is one method, however, that can be used in any art, and improves the learning curve drastically.

  • Your Martial Art Doesn't Work , And Then The Hells Angel Showed Me Why
By: Al Case | - I had studied Chinese Kenpo Karate, an Ed Parker system, for two years. I was an instructor in my training hall, and I had written the training manual for my school. Then I ran into an Outlaw Biker, a Hells Angel, to be specific.

The story actually started when the hamburger place I was working at hired a geeky looking fellow. I wasn't too impressed with him, but then one day I saw him kick a wall. The wall shook like the 1906 earthquake had started all over again, and I knew that he ...

By: Al Case | - Not many people know what a real Karate sensei is trying to do. This is true not just of karate, but of other arts, such as Kenpo or Kung Fu, which have taken to using the term to indicate a martial arts instructor. Most people think of the founder of an art as pure, he studied only one way, and never deviated. This is because of the true believer mindset that infects many people who learn one thing, and hold to it as the most sacred thing ever ever discovered in history. The originators of martial ar ...
