In Black & White – The Jake White Story By: marcashton It took me a while to get around to reading and reviewing “In Black & White” and it was quite interesting to get a feel from other readers before tucking into the book. My initial expectation was quite low with a couple of people bandying around the spoof title of “The Jake Whine Story”. Tags: Book Reviews, Jake White, In Black & White, Reading Hub
The Job - Douglas Kennedy – Book Review By: marcashton Ned Allen is a young, ambitious, happily married sales manager at a leading publishing company. When foreign owners arrive to take over the firm, Ned is presented with the opportunity to make a serious move upwards. Unfortunately this move comes at a price that ultimately sees him sell out the guys who had supported him to the top. Nothing to lose – Lee Child By: marcashton If Jack Reacher was a movie character I wouldn’t have a problem with him. A one man wrecking crew who does what he wants when he wants and how he wants. Quite capable of handling 6 against 1 in a bar fight and randomly blowing stuff up – he is unstoppable. Unfortunately Reacher is a book character and he just doesn’t carry the same weight with me. The Whole Truth – David Baldacci By: marcashton All I can say is WOW! If you want a fast paced, well written, entertaining thriller then you are going to be hard pressed to beat “The Whole Truth” this year. I am near certain that this book will come out on the movie circuit as well – if you liked the Robert Ludlum / Jason Bourne type stories then this book will be right up your alley. Alien vs. Predator 2 (AV2) – DVD Review By: marcashton This evening I watched the sequel to Alien vs. Predator and all I can say is “what a disappointment”. The original Alien vs. Predator (AVP) was a brilliant meeting of 2 cult sci-fi classic characters and it explained how the 2 alien races came into conflict with eachother. The original movie pitted the 2 races against one another in a duel on an Arctic mine / sub-station where some unwitting humans ended up being caught up in the middle. Play Dirty By: marcashton To the best of my knowledge I had not read a Sandra Brown book before this. To be honest I am probably a bit sexist in this regard in that I tend to stick to male authors when reading action / thriller type books. In this instance I think Brown has put me in my place… Tags: Play Dirty, Sandra Brown, Thriller, Book review, Reading Hub, DVD review
The Red Dahlia By: marcashton Lynda La Plante is not a regular author for me to read but my wife finished reading it and recommended I give it a shot. I normally steer clear of British authors and I’ll admit to more than a little trepidation at reading this title. Tags: Red Dahlia, Book review, Reading Hub, Lynda La Plante
The Abduction - Book Review By: marcashton This is the first Mark Gimenez book I have read and I was suitably impressed.
It is a parents worst nightmare – you come to collect your daughter after a sports match only for the coach to tell you that she has been picked up by her uncle…. Tags: Book review, product review, DVD, reading, author, Mark Gime
