An experimental nerve fuel that paralyzes from the waist down has been stolen and Rentadick, Inc. is employed to track down the perpetrators. Cast includes Jim Clark, James Booth, Julie Ege, Ronald Fraser, Donald Sinden, Michael Bentine, Richard Briers, and Spike Milligan. (94 minutes, 1972)
Bordertown: Fine drama of abnormal triangle in a border town restaurant, with Davis as the flirtatious spouse of Pallette with plans on attorney Muni. Her overwrought scene on the witness stand is not forgotten easily. Used as structure for later They Drive By Day, however more earnest in tone. The Rookie (1990): Veteran detective Nick Pulovska, working in the auto theft division, has discovered German crime boss Strom is heading a large auto theft ring. In attempts to capture Strom, Nick's partner is killed. The case is transferred to the homicide division. He is taken off the case, and given a new partner. He disobeys orders and he and his new partner are out to finish what Nick had started.
Million Dollar Baby: Maggie Fitzgerald is a middle-aged woman with a dream. She is determined to become a championship boxer, and she just won't quite. She needs Frankie, a local boxing trainer to help. He is reluctant at first, but Maggie's unstoppable spirit sweeps him in.
Raising up Arizona: Formidably flaky comedy in regards to an strange couple persistent seven eleven robber Cage and prior ordinance-enforcement officer Hunter who plan to abduct one of a set of quintuplets, as long as they couldn?t have a kid of their own. Assertively whacked-out funny bone might not be for all tastes, although it's a heady mix of sarcasm and dry. Look out for those pursue scenes! Cast includes Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, Trey Wilson, John Goodman, William Forsythe, Sam McMurray, and Randall Cobb. (92 minutes, 1987)
A Different Story: Gays Baron and Foster get wedded to stop his deportation and then fall in love. Although the first half is surprisingly excellent, the film succumbs to conventionality. Foster is wonderful. Cast includes Perry Emperor, Meg Foster, Valerie Curtin, Peter Donat, Richard Bull, and Barbara Collentine. (108 minutes, 1978)
Sine: The moving, true story, of Australian pianist David Helfgott. A child prodigy on the piano, he grows up in an abusive situation. Finally breaking away from his father he travels over seas to study. Eventually, he suffers a total breakdown. He returns to Australia, winding up in a mental institution. Somehow, many years later he is released from the institution. In final completion, he makes his way all the way back to playing in the concert halls.
No Man's Land: Beginner cop goes undercover to snare a prosperous youthful car buff that performs a hot automobile ring, finds he loves his target, the target's sis, and robbing Porsches. Excellent premise largely botched. Cast includes Charlie Sheen, D.R Sweeney, Lara Harris, Randy Quaid, Bill Duke, and Emmet Walsh. (106 minutes, 1987)
