If The Evidence Proved Him Innocent, Why Did Dr. Malachi K. York Plea Guilty? Posted By: William Greggory

This very seemingly simple question has a quite complex answer. Unbeknown to many outside of the judicial system, this phenomenon occurs much more often than one would think. This holds ever so true even more for the suspected offender that cannot afford a good attorney. A court "appointed" attorney is a court "paid" attorney. Now, if you couple this with the idea of a suspect who may already have any kind of criminal record, you have a recipe for many people being put behind bars on false pretenses.

Question: It seems quite far-fetched that someone would ruin their life because of a terrible lawyer, is there more to it?

Answer: Yes there is.

Many times, the terror begins in the 'inTERRORgation' room. This is where investigators use all kinds of physical and psychological tortures to coerce(force, trick) a person into confessing to a crime he/she didn't commit or wasn't even guilty of being an accessory. Often times, just as depicted on the detective shows that come on television, the interrogation process is for the most part the same just much more harsh.Dr. Malachi York Vienna Convention Ed Garland Article 36

Top Museums In Vietnam Posted By: lanhnguyen

Vietnam National Museum of history
The National Museum of Vietnamese History is housed in a magnificent example of Indochinese architecture, which were until 1910 the French consulate and the residence of the governor general.

The building was also home to the Ecole Francaise d'Extreme Orient (EFEO), during which time it became a museum to exhibit EFEO finds. Over time the building deteriorated, and it was not until the early 1930s, following a seven-year renovation, that what you can see now was realized. The entrance gives on to an impressive two-storey rotunda with exhibits all around and in many galleries to the rear.

The contents are as fascinating as the building. The ground floor traces Vietnam's ancient history, from the first Neolithic finds through to those of the 15th century. Some items date back as far as 10,000 BC and feature more than just the requisite pottery shards and axe heads. The jeweler, tools and household items archaeologists have unearthed -- along with human and animal remains -- paint a compelling picture of the people who inhabited the region long ago, and provide a sense of how they are tied to Vietnam's modern inhabitants.vietnam vacation travel agent in vietnam vietnam tour vietnam package holiday vietnam travel agent vietnam travel agency vietnam adventure tour

The Return Of The Panamanian Strongman Posted By: Bobby Castro

In a recent decision, a French court ordered the conditional release of the former dictator from Panama to be returned to his home country and was returned to Panama on December 11, 2011. He is now incarcerated at El Renacer prison and is standing to face trial for crimes during his rule in Panama.

Manuel Antonio Noriega Moreno was born on February 11, 1934 and was the military dictator of Panama from 1983 to 1989. He was removed from power by the US invasion of the country in 1989 and was detained as a prisoner of war. He was brought to the United States and was made to stand trial on eight counts of racketeering, money laundering and drug trafficking. He was convicted in 1992 and was sentenced to prison but only served until September 2007 because he was requested to be extradited in both France and Panama.

Noriega's defense hinged on his connections and work for the US Central Intelligence Agency where his work was considered as classified and disclosure was against the interests of the United States.Manuel Noriega prison racketeering human rights

Taunton' Posted By: Niall McCusker

From its origins, Taunton rose in prominence from a simple market town circa 700 to the country town in the 14th Century. In 904, the town was given a charter by King Edward, allowing the people of Taunton several rights and privileges. During the Medieval period, Taunton flourished with its exporting of wool among other goods, but it was with wool which made it famous, exporting its produce to France, the fashion capital of the time and then also exported to Africa later towards the 16th Century.

To show the importance of Taunton, and how busy it was made clear, during the 13th Century, Taunton had 2 Fairs a year. Fairs were traditionally only allowed once a year and were full of traders and buyers for a few days selling goods from all across the local area. For Taunton to have 2 of these in a year, shows how busy and how wealthy the town was. This was down to the location of Taunton, with many traders coming from all over the South West especially Cornwall and Devon.Hotels in Taunton Taunton Hotels Things to do in Taunton

Visions Of The Children Of Fatima Posted By: Bob and Penny Lord

The precious children of Fatima, Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco, have captured our hearts, as the brave trio who fought against all secular odds to keep a promise to Our Lady. She asked them to come to her on the 13th of each month for six months, in the year 1917; and against overwhelming odds, they said Yes!

Our Lady gave them important messages during that period of time, many of which they couldn't begin to understand. Some of the profound things she said to them were for them alone; others were for the world. But the drama of the Miracle of the Sun on October 13, 1917, witnessed by more than 70,000 people in the Cova da Iria, and as far off as the Azores mountains, overshadowed for a time many of the messages she gave these little people.

Over the years, we have had an opportunity to go through all the occurrences of that six month period which would change the world forever. Everything was important to them, but some things burned an impression on their hearts and minds, more than others.
A Noble Experiment? The Prohibition Act Posted By: Skip Braintree

The American Prohibition Act of 1920 outlawed the use, possession, transportation, manufacture and distribution of alcoholic beverages. But despite the wreckage that this generally good-intentioned law caused in the U.S., it was referred to by President Herbert Hoover and many other people of the time as the Noble Experiment. According to Nebraska Studies.ORG, the logic behind was that it was a noble idea to prevent the detrimental effects alcohol had on the family structure, but that outlawing it altogether was really just a botched experiment. Today we know this failure as the Prohibition. Study of this event is critical because the parallels that can be drawn between it and the current War on Drugs are astonishingly familiar.

Before the Prohibition era was born, its predecessor was a temperance movement. This movement actively discouraged public and private drunkenness or intoxication, but generally believed that it was acceptable to drink alcoholic beverages in moderation. But because so many people developed alcohol problems featuring undesirable behavior, the temperance movement eventually became the abstinence movement. Once this occurred it wasn't long until the group gained popularity and pushed a bill that Woodrow Wilson vetoed to no avail.prohibition act the volstead act the noble experiment
