Quite frankly, I like my arms to be a little more toned or defined than what I get from bodyweight exercise. I don't think you NEED to utilize weights if your main goal for working out is fat loss and muscle gain. Although there are a few great exercises with weights, the vast majority are just too inefficient, and too prone toward causing you overuse and underuse issues.

The sustained muscle contraction can actually lead to a shortening and stiffening of the muscles that connect your knee and lower leg to your ankle, called the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles.
