Kun Iam Statue - The Divine Statue At Macau Water' Posted By: Pushpitha Wijesinghe

Gracefully poised upon a lotus dome in a water front, with a divine grace and kindness written all over its countenance, the Kun Iam Statue is more a presence than a statue. This Goddess of Mercy moves you and tugs at your heart strings in a powerfully touching way so that you go on to develop a bond with it even within a short while. Viewed from a distance it invites you to its vicinity, which is very unobtrusive yet strangely alluring.

This exotic statue is a recreation of the most popular deities in Buddhism and is found towering at a height of 20 meters from a manmade island in Macau. The statue is the concept of Christina Rocha Leiria who is a recognized Portuguese sculptor, architect and poem. The Kun lam statue is poised atop a lotus dome with sixteen petals that adds to its serene demeanor and it is also purposely aligned with Guia Hill and Kun lam temple that accords well with auspicious reasons. The statue depicts a slender feminine form and weighs 50 tons and has different castings done on it to withstand the strong winds.Kun Iam Statue <a href="http://www.articlesnatch.com/topic/Statue+at+Macau+water"s+edge" rel="tag">Statue at Macau water"s edge

Thean Hou Temple ' Posted By: Pushpitha Wijesinghe

The Thean Hou Temple is one of the most visited sacred places in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The iconic six tiered temple is styled after traditional Chinese temples and features impressive roofs, massive pillars and is decorated by fine, intricate carvings. It is among the biggest Chinese temples in the region, occupying an area of 1.6 acres, and incorporates elements from Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism. On the first level of the temple one can find a canteen and several souvenir stalls. The second level features a hall that is used for a variety of different purposes. Offices are housed on the third level. The prayer hall is situated in the fourth level which has three tiers.

Construction on the temple started in 1987, and was sponsored by the Hainanese community which lives in Kuala Lumpur. The temple was officially opened about two years later. Although at the beginning the temple was dedicated to the Goddess Tian Hou (which means 'Heavenly Mother'), two other deities, Goddess of the Waterfront, Shui Wei Sheng Niang and Goddess of Mercy, Guan Yin, were installed later on.thean hou temple kuala lumpur serviced apartments

Chinese Thean Hou Temple ' Posted By: Pushpitha Wijesinghe

The imposing Thean Hou Temple is located atop a hill in Kuala Lumpur and is among the largest Chinese temples located outside the orient. This six-tiered, landmark temple showcases a fascinating blend of authentic traditional design and modern architecture. Dedicated to the Tian Hou Goddess, the temple has elaborate embellishments, ornate carvings, spectacular roofs and imposing pillars.

Standing overlooking Jalan Syed Putra, this charming temple displays elements of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. This grandiose structure has a multi-arched gateway featuring red pillars at the front entrance. A canteen and souvenir stalls are located on the first level whilst the multi-purpose hall and office quarters are located in the second and third levels respectively. The fourth level consists of the prayer hall.

Three altars are housed in the prayer hall, each having a sculpture of a goddess or deity. Whilst the Goddess of the Waterfront or Shui Wei Sheng Niang is to the left, Tian Hou is in the centre. On entering the prayer hall, one will come upon an altar dedicated to Guan Yin. Two pairs of Kau Cim oracles for the use of visitors are kept in the middle section of the hall.chinese thean hou temple travel to kuala lumpur sightseeing

Great Tips On Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching (laozi - Dao De Jing) Posted By: Stewart McFarlane

Traditionally dated to the 6th Century BCE and attributed to the Sage Lao Tzu (Laozi), the Tao Te Ching (Classic of the Way and its Power) is actually a vital expression of writing for many of the Taoists. It integrates a mystical path of naturalness along with unconstrained non-volitional actions together with the political approach of a minimal state. The written text recommends an important spiritualised representation connected with immortality, which can be viewed as arising from a non-acquisitive, natural and also harmonious daily life. Chinese mystics, philosophers and poets tend to be influenced by means of its extraordinary teachings.

Furthermore, it also inspired countless commentarial and interpretative works together with artistic products. It provides the primary principle behind T'ai chi ch'uan. Inside Religious Taoism, the text was given a more ritualised interpretation, with immortality conceived in more literal terms.

Lao Tzu quotes out of the Tao Te Ching (Dao De Jing):

Yield and you will become whole, Bend and you will become straight, Be hollow and you will become full, Be worn and you will become new, Have little and you will get more, Have much and you will be perplexed.lao tzu quotes lao tzu lao tzu biography lao tzu tao

Helpful Pointers On Moy Lin-shin - T'ai Chi Innovator, Teacher And Visionary Posted By: Stewart McFarlane

Master Moy Lin-shin is certainly best recognised in the west as being the founding father of The International Taoist T'ai Chi Society in Montreal, Canada.

He created this prospering group after a long period of teaching as well as spreading far and wide the concepts of Taoism and its traditions.

Legend has it that matters failed to start out too well for this young Lin-shin, because he encountered times of ill-health as a child being raised inside China.

The truth is, matters got so awful; he ended up being sent off to the monastery to recuperate. Whilst there, he was in fact schooled in the philosophies of the Earlier Heaven Wu-chi sect from the Hua Shan School of Taoism. During this period, he even learnt the Yang Style T'ai Chi and other martial arts.

Then, prior to the Communist Revolution of 1949, he decided to relocate to Hong Kong, the place where he joined the Yuen Yuen Institute and became a Taoist monk.

The Yuen Yuen Institution was set up during 1950 and has always been dedicated to the study of Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism.master moy moy lin shin

5 Things Not To Miss In Northwest Vietnam Posted By: lanhnguyen

Cu Chi Tunnel
During the war in Vietnam, thousands of people in the Vietnamese province of Cu Chi lived in an elaborate system of underground tunnels. Originally built in the time of the French, the tunnels were enlarged during the American presence. When the Americans began bombing the villages of Cu Chi, the survivors went underground where they remained for the duration of the war.

The secret tunnels, which joined village to village and often pass beneath American bases, were not only fortifications for Viet Cong guerillas, but were also the center of community life. Hidden beneath the destroyed villages were schools and public spaces were hospitals where children were born and surgery was performed on casualties of war: underground were schools and public spaces where couples were married and private places where lovers met. There were even theaters where performers entertained with song and dance and traditional stories.

Cao Dai Temple
Indigenous to Vietnam, Cao Dai, is in fact a fusion of the teachings from Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism, with elements of Christianity and Islam.vietnam vacation travel agent in vietnam vietnam tour vietnam package holiday vietnam travel agent vietnam travel agency vietnam adventure tour

Thien Hau Temple ' Posted By: Pushpitha Wijesinghe

Thien Hau temple is literally translated as The Pagoda of the Lady temple. It is a Chinese sanctuary situated on the bustling Nguyen Trai Street in the China town area of Ho Chi Minh, the capital of Vietnam. Thien Hau is also referred to as the lady of the sea, thus the shrine is dedicated to her. She is also known as Mazu.
Crossing its iron gate and walking past the small courtyard in front of the shrine one can reach the holy place. Once you enter, you notice that small porcelain figurines from various Chinese myths and legends adorn its roof. Over the entrance a number of lanterns hang. There are also wooden models of theatres that hang from the roof at the entrance.
Inside the place of worship there is a half covered courtyard and at one end the visitor finds the altar of Thien Hau. At the altar are three statues of the goddess. Her face is bronze while she adorns colourful outfits and crowns. If you have wishes that need fulfilling plan a trip to this miraculous temple in Sik Sik Yen and pray hard enough, you never know what fortune awaits you.

Located in the centre of Kowloon, this temple covers an enormous 18000 square meters and sits amidst beautiful natural settings away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Winnie The Pooh Quotes And Nothing Else Posted By: Karisma Sand

"Here is Edward Bear coming downstairs now, bump, bump, bump on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. It is, as far as he know, the only way of coming downstairs, but sometimes he feels that there really is another way, if only he could stop bumping for a moment and think of it".

I've come across this quote from Winnie the Pooh twice in the last month, which got me thinking about why it is we keep on doing the same thing even if we repeatedly get the same negative result. Is it because we don't know what else to do? How often have you heard someone saying, "What else can I do?" If you ask them the question "What else could you do?" they often reply very quickly, "Nothing, I don't have any choice", or "There is no other way".

We can automatically shut off any thought of doing something different or differently because it would mean getting out of our comfort zone, and the thought of that can be worse than constantly doing something that produces little of what we want but is familiar.Winnie the Pooh Quotes
