Power Supply Design Posted By: Aaron Tyler

With the improvement of technology and its use in almost every aspect of our lives, supplying power to and for this technology involves innovation, engineering and design. New sources of energy, or channeling these sources and making them useful, is the challenge put in front of designers today. There is certainly demand for those who are imaginative, intuitive and have a good sense of the task at hand. What is a power supply unit? Why is power supply design so important?

A power supply unit is a device that supplies electrical energy to one or more electrical loads. Generally speaking, it applies to devices that convert one type or form of electrical energy into another form or type. An electrical power supply is the term used to describe a main power distribution system with any other source of energy. Examples of forms of energy include:

1.Chemical fuel cells and other forms of energy storage systems
2.Batteries
3.Solar power
4.Conversion of one form of electrical power to another form of electrical power or voltage. For example from AC to DC
5.Generators and alternators

Another common form of power supply units are mechanical power supplies.Power Supply Design Custom Power Supply Design Power Suppl

Vandetanib In Nsclc Posted By: Dr. Ribia

INTRODUCTION

Several previous posts have discussed lung cancer, which remains the leading cause of cancer related deaths in the US. Despite its prevalence, lung cancer, particularly non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC), remains resistant to chemotherapy. In recent years, angiogensis inhibitors that target the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) have proven to have some efficacy in treating NSCLC.

POTENTIAL THERAPIES

There are currently three targeted drugs that have been approved by the FDA for treatment of NSCLC. The first to be approved was Gefitinb, which is a selective inhibitor of the tyrosine kinase activity of EGFR and was shown in clinical trials to improve disease free survival in patients harboring EGFR mutations. The second drug to approved was Erlotinib, which also inhibits EGFR. Erlotinib is currently indicated as a second or third-line therapy in patients with advanced NSCLC. Finally, the last drug to be approved was Bevacizumab. Bevacizumab inhibits the activity of VEGF, it has no tyrosine kinase inhibitor activity, but rather is a monoclonal antibody that binds directly to the ligand making it unavailable for receptor activation.

Vargatef, another tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting VEGFR, is currently in Phase II clinical trails.Tipifarnib Danusertib

Air Filtration For Salons----5 Important Facts To Know Posted By: Debbie Davis

Thank goodness the beauty industry has recognized that filtering salon air is crucial to maintaining the good health of staff and clients. Here are 5 important features that an effective purifier must have and why.

Carbon Filters Are Best For Chemicals---There's no sense inventing the wheel about which filter is best for removing airborne chemicals. Carbon is renowned for its ability to clear the air of airborne chemicals such as the ones that are likely to off-gas from many salon products.

And even though carbon is really effective at eliminating gaseous pollutants, it needs help with the volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) that many salon procedures produce. Enhancing the carbon filter with an additive of potassium iodide further increases its ability to clear the air of chemicals that can cause eyes to burn, throats to hurt, and heads to ache.

The short term side effects of inhaling these chemicals are unpleasant to say the least. The long term effects of breathing these chemicals for a prolonged period of time that can be the case when working in a nail or beauty salon can be even scarier.beauty salon beauty salon filtration beauty salon air beauty salon air quality beauty salon air purifier salon air purifier salon products salon suppl

Entinostat Is Known To Show A Great Anti Tumor Activity Posted By: Dr. Ribia

INTRODUCTION

Entinostat, is also known with different other names such as MS-275, SNDX-275 and MS-27-275. This compound is among HDAC inhibitors and is selective for HDAC1 and HDAC3. It performs almost similar functions as Belinostat and Panobinostat which are HDAC inhibitors. In human beings under in vivo conditions Entinostat is known to show a great anti tumor activity. It shows effects of different ranges in cancerous cells depending upon the quantity of induction. This compound is currently under phase I clinical trials.

Nuclear region of tumor cell lines contain histones and Entinostat is found to have a great potency of hyperacetylation of these histones. Entinostat is synthetic banzamide derivative, has a chemical name N-(2-aminophenyl)-4-[N-(pyridin-3-yl methoxycarbonyl) aminomethyl] benzamide [1]. In case of leukemia, growth of tumor cell lines is arrested by the stimulation of this derivative. There is a copy mutation of the tandem genes such as FLT3-ITD gene internally in these cell lines of leukemia. When inhibited by Entinostat, there is a reduced level of the l phosohorylated and total FLT3. As a result an Akt-ERK-STAT5 mediated downstream deactivation of signaling pathway occurs. Acetylation of HSP90 is also a response of its induction [2].Erlotinib Gefitinib

As703026 Is An Important Agent Against Cancer Cells Posted By: Dr. Ribia

INTRODUCTION

The signaling pathways that are mediated by various growth factors and tumor cell proliferation have an important role of MEK1 and MEK2 enzymes which are kinase activator enzymes (kinases). These enzymes have dual specificity that is phosphorylation of tyrosine and threonine amino acids along with the activation of RAF/RAS/ MRK/ERK pathway. Cancerous cells mostly have high expression of these kinases. Like U0126, AS703026 is an inhibitor of these kinases (kinase inhibitor) regulating the expression of these enzymes ultimately controls the down-stream signaling pathways and prevents the growth of tumors and cancerous cells.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

AS703026 is not only a non-competitive kinase inhibitor but it is also very specific for MEK1/2. Like different other inhibitors for example, cal-101 and AZD2171 this inhibitor has passed through preclinical trials and now it is under phase I clinical trials. The purpose of these clinical studies is to monitor the highest tolerated dose of this inhibitor along with the other pharmacokinetics studies. In different studies it has been reported that a concentration from 0.005 to 2 µM of this inhibitor effectively suppresses the growth of tumor and the cancer cells.Afatinib Vargatef PI-103

Role Of Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor In Colorectal Cancer Posted By: Dr. Ribia

INTRODUCTION

Colorectal cancer is a malignancy of unrestrained cell growth in the colon, rectum, or appendix. Colon cancer affects approximately 1 million people per year and is the third most common cancer worldwide, however it is more common in developed countries due to lifestyle risk factors such as diet.

The symptoms of colorectal cancer are highly dependent on the location of the tumor within the bowel and whether it has metastasized. The most common symptoms at presentation include constipation, blood in the stool, weight loss, fever, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting, especially in a person over 50.

DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF COLORECTAL CANCER

Definitive diagnosis of colorectal cancer is via tumor biopsy, after which CT scans are typically used to determine the extent of the disease. Treatment of colorectal cancer is dependent upon how advanced it is. When caught early, surgery can be greatly effective and curative. However, once metastases are present treatment is often directed more at extending and improving quality of life. According to the American Cancer Society, over 20% of patients present with metastatic colorectal cancer at the time of diagnosis and the 5-year survival rate is less than 60%.Celecoxib Gemcitabine Docetaxel

Studies indicate Ashwagandha root extract have benefits of anti-inflammatory, antitumor, anti stress, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, hemopoietic, and rejuvenating effects. It also appears to exert a positive effect on the endocrine.

It was used in traditional Indian and Ayurvedic medicine, grows in India and Africa. The roots of Ashwagandha are believed to have health benefits on various conditions including inflammation (including arthritis), and a wide range of infectious diseases. Ashwagandha contains withanolides as its major active ingredients to account for most of its medicinal benefits. Oral administration of the extracts successfully obliterated salmonella infection in as revealed by increased survival rate as well as less bacterial load in various vital organs of the treated animals. Basic studies have shown its capability to replicate the immune system cells, restrain inflammation and improve memory in animal studies.

Ashwagandha botanical name withania is widely regarded as the Indian ginseng. In Ayurveda, it is classified as a rasayana (rejuvenation) and expected to encourage physical and mental health, rejuvenate the body in incapacitated conditions and increase longevity.Ashwagandha botanical milk thistle herbal supplement Suppl

From Freezer To Microwave - Packaging For Convenience Posted By: Eva Judge

Forty years ago, the most sophisticated method of packaging hot food was to wrap fish and chips in greaseproof paper, and seal in the heat with a layer of newspaper. The best method available for cold food if the household didn't possess a refrigerator was an ice box kept reasonably cold, funnily enough, with a block of ice. We've come a long way since then, with all manner of containers, packages, packets, bags etc. to withstand the extremes of temperature that our food now is subjected to. The level of quality control expected of our food packaging allows us as consumers to be confident that our food is safe to eat, whether hot or cold.

The obvious conclusion to be drawn here is that the choice of packaging has to be absolutely right for the product. With all the regulation around food packaging, manufacturers have to be certain that the packaging they choose for any particular product must keep the contents safe for human consumption, and also be suitable for either heating or freezing, whichever is required.Packaging Supplies Promotion Packaging Food Packaging Packaging Suppliers Food Packaging Suppliers Plastic Food Packaging Plastic Food Packaging Suppl

Correct Food Labels Essential For Wellbeing Of Consumers Posted By: Eva Judge

With all the different types of food packaging available to consumers, there is really no "one-size-fits-all" approach to choosing a consumer product. Every product is labeled with information designed to assist the consumer to make informed decisions about what they buy. While there is a standard structure to the label itself, and requirements on what must be disclosed about the product, the actual information on the label will obviously change to reflect the composition of the contents. For example, some products contain very little in the way of saturated fats, while others are high in this element. The only way to know for certain is to take the time to read and understand the labels.

Almost all food packaging contains a nutrition information panel which lists how much energy (kilojoules), protein, total fat, saturated fat, carbohydrate, sodium (salt) and sugar that is in the product. The label must completely disclose the amount of an element or make known any allergen that may be present in the product. For instance, the total amount of meat found in a meat pie must be part of the label.Packaging Supplies Promotion Packaging Food Packaging Packaging Suppliers Food Packaging Suppliers Plastic Food Packaging Plastic Food Packaging Suppl

Eye-catching Banners Spread The Message Posted By: Eva Judge

With the cost of advertising increasing each year, getting the most coverage from the advertising dollar has become a vital part of every organization's marketing efforts. Print media is under pressure from digital options like web pages and email marketing campaigns, so the cost of large newspaper and magazine ads have risen to a point where they are out of the budget range for smaller companies, schools, charities and clubs. This has caused a move away from these traditional avenues and into advertising methods that still get the message out, but leave some funds in the kitty for the next promotion or event.

Such is a time when banner advertising, a cost-efficient, creative and visual means of catching a customer's attention, should be introduced. Imagine the impact of a large vinyl banner across the front of a retail business screaming "Pre-season Sale - 2 days only", and customers leaving the shop with their purchases in plastic bags printed with the same information, creating dozens of walking ads attracting others to the site.

A most amazing and efficient way to make a product, service or event known to the public is through the use of printed promotional banners.Packaging Supplies Promotion Packaging Food Packaging Packaging Suppliers Food Packaging Suppliers Plastic Food Packaging Plastic Food Packaging Suppl

Probiotics Show Benefits For Mother And Child Posted By: Kevin A

There are about 300 to 500 different species of bacteria naturally living in the intestinal tract of a healthy human being.1 Different strains populate different areas of the intestinal tract and studies have linked various probiotic strains to specific health benefits. For years, scientists have believed that these bacteria are essential for healthy digestion and for supporting a strong immune system. However, more recently, high-quality scientific studies have reported that select probiotic strains may help reduce the risk of premature birth and the complications that may result from babies being born pre-term. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reports that the probiotic strains, Bifidobacterium breve and Lactobacillus casei, may help protect against a severe complication of pre-term birth known as necrotizing enterocolitis.2In the same journal, findings from a separate study, conducted at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, reported that a regular intake of milk-based probiotic products by pregnant women was linked to an 18 percent reduction in the risk of premature delivery. The study analyzed data from 18,888 pregnant women, correlating the incidence of premature birth with probiotic consumption.nutraceutical manufacturers probiotic manufacturing probio

When The Time Comes To Replace Your Copier Posted By: Copier Headquarters

Your office staff has been complaining about the copier they have been stuck using for months, the quality of the copies it makes has been steadily getting worse and more than one of your staff has threatened to throw it out the window. This would not be so bad but your offices are on the 40th floor and the windows don't open. At this point it may finally be time to admit that you are going to have to look into buying a new copier or multifunction printer (MFP).

Making the decision to replace your antiquated copier is only the first step in arriving at the final choice regarding the new copier that you are going to have delivered to your offices. As your copier performs a wide number of tasks within your office, you are going to need to make sure that not only are you going to be getting the best price on the one you decide to buy, but that it is going to be capable of doing everything that you and the rest of your office staff need it to do.Print Management Copier Service Copier Sales Copier Suppl

Identify Bad Fats In Products By Reading Labeling Information Posted By: Eva Judge

Anyone undertaking a weight loss program, whether it be Jenny Crai, Weight Watchers, the CSIRO diet or any number of others will be advised to reduce the amount of fat being consumed on a daily basis. This is because, unless this fat is burnt up through activity, which is very difficult in our sedentary society, it will be stored on the body and accumulate over time. Excess fat stored in the body can lead to cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and many other health problems that reduce mobility and cause a reduction in the quality of life. Simple things like climbing stairs or mowing the lawn become very difficult.

Nutrition panels found on food packaging disclose details about the food's nutritional contents and the amount or portion represented based on certain dietary requirements. Besides showing the approximate amount of fats per serving, the panel provides such information in two categories - saturated and unsaturated fats.

What one must be aware of is how each of these fats differ from the other, and what good and bad effects they bring to the body.Packaging Supplies Promotion Packaging Food Packaging Packaging Suppliers Food Packaging Suppliers Plastic Food Packaging Plastic Food Packaging Suppl
