Time To Congregate Posted By: Tamara Jacobs

Congregations typically refer to religious institutions where people of the same beliefs get together to pray and/or worship. However, congregation can also refer to a gathered assembly body, or really just a group of people who have come together for one reason or another. People tend to congregate over:

1. Times of death:

With the tragedy and sadness of death usually comes a sense of unity and togetherness experienced by mourners. It's not uncommon to hear about friends and family members who drifted over the years, and in a time of loss come back together, work out their differences and forgive one another for whatever was standing between them. While formal death proceedings usually take place in some sort of religious institution, congregations of one kind or another take place in many locations during these times. Jews for instance, spend up to a week sitting 'shiva' in the home of the closest relative. There people can come, eat, and mourn all together. Friends may congregate in the deceased's favourite spot, family members may congregate to sprinkle ashes, go through old photos and generally commemorate the person they loved so much.

Planning For Event Mishaps Posted By: Tamara Jacobs

Organising an event requires a lot of planning. Potential mishaps should be as carefully considered as time, place and guests. This past weekend for instance was The Taste of London in Regents Park. It is a three-day event that gives city residents and tourists the opportunity to taste the culinary masterpieces of top restaurants and food retailers around the city. And it gives restaurants and food retailers the opportunity to market themselves.

This scale of an event must have taken months to plan. In fact, as it's an annual thing I can only imagine that there is a committee that works on it all year long. It's always in Regent's Park so the location is set, however, they still need permits, marquees and signage for the event to properly run. There was quite a lot of advertising both online and offline in the month leading up to the event, including write-ups in local newspapers and magazines, bus posters, and online banner ads.

Restaurants and vendors must be carefully selected, booth reservations made, payments taken, and tickets sold.pow wow

Meeting Of Minds - Discover America International Pow Wow Posted By: Pushpitha Wijesinghe

A gathering of Native Americans to honor their culture through various activities is generally referred to as a Pow Wow. Although a gathering of a different sort, the Discover America International Pow Wow organized by the US Travel Association is a very important event and the largest generator of Visit USA travel. It is an opportunity to conduct face to face meetings, identify new business prospects and negotiate new business arrangements within a short period of time. It is also an opportunity for international and US buyers to learn about the purchase of US travel products and services. Participation is regulated by the US Travel Association. The number of participants cannot exceed quotas for each country. Delegates undergo a selection process due to space limitations. Leading travel agencies and tour operators specializing in US travel and travel writers are invited to participate.

The presence of the media provides plenty of publicity for destinations and attractions. This year it is to be held from May 21st to the 25th in San Francisco California at the Moscone Centre.huntington hotel pasadena huntington hotel

Can We Speak? In Relation To Home Care Posted By: Gloria H Schneider

Even though not always the case, such as one described recently at a U.S. Senate hearing where an adult son let his mother die trapped in her own home, presumably the majority adult children of aging parents would like them to be safe, cheerful and well cared for.
Often, a family member who lives nearby to begin with uses on the position of aiding a parent or parents when the subtle adjustments of aging indicate a need for help. It usually begins with tiny tasks such as serving with grocery shopping, taking the bins out to the street on trash day or repairing that broken lock relating to the garden gate. Not a lot of of a problem for most of us, even if we are stilling working.
Over weeks or months though, the role of "devoted" child can swiftly turn into one involving much more serious consequences, not easy decisions and requiring an enormous amount of patience and time. An misfortune while driving two blocks to the drug store, a fall in the bathroom or a missed insurance cost are cues for vow of huge proportion.home care elder care senior care baby boomer

Respite, Support Systems Necessary For Family Caregivers Posted By: BrightStar Care

The job of a caregiver can be rewarding and challenging, all in the same day! Adult children who take on the responsibility of providing elder care for their aging parents come to mind - juggling work and your own family in addition to caring for a parent with declining health can be quite an undertaking. Continued support is a key factor to promoting a healthy, efficient relationship between a caregiver and the person they are caring for.

People who are emotionally and physically exhausted or guilt-ridden cannot provide good care. You may be taking care of a loved one 24 hours a day or you may be stopping at a nursing home every day after work to visit a relative. If you have multiple responsibilities you may find yourself feeling resentful toward the person to whom you are devoting so much time. According to the Harvard Medical School Family Health Guide, as a caregiver, you should neither expect-nor try-to be on-call 24 hours a day. Every caregiver needs respite and relief.family caregiver caregiver resource respite care homecare

Origins Of The Native American Pow Wow Posted By: Tamara Jacobs

The history and origins of large Native American traditional dance gatherings, called pow wows, are not clear cut. The story of the pow wow is a mix of each tribe's separate recollections, and also reflects the turbulent history between the US government and the Native Americans.

The Origin of the Pow wow:

Pow wows probably arose from the Grass Dance ceremonies of the early 1800s, which were events intended for warriors to show off their bravery. However, they may also have come from the ancient war dances held by the Southern Plains tribes. The modern form of the pow wow probably came about due to the rise of reservations in the late 19th century. As Native Americans of one tribe were forced to live in relatively small spaces with other tribes, inter-tribalism became more common.

Pow wows became a way to come together and celebrate Native American heritage at a time when the US government was suppressing many Native American customs. Dance gatherings were one of the few tribal meetings permitted, and the modern pow wow became a place to dance and sing with other tribes.pow wow

Web Conferencing Is A Quick And Easy Way To Make Business Simpler Posted By: Don Sharpe..

Business has changed dramatically thanks to the Internet. The Internet has helped major businesses, as well as smaller ones too, in reaching out to customers all over the world. One positive way that the Internet is making things more convenient is through the use of conference calls, or what is better known as video conferencing. The Internet, and not just video conferencing, can help businesses make important decisions and make a worldwide impact. It may be more costly in the long run not to use the World Wide Web and the technology it has to offer.Web conferencing is a means of installing equipment on standard desktops or laptop computers to communicate via an internet provider, chat or conference program, camera system, and microphone. It doesn't take much time to set up equipment for a web conference. When you compare the costs of using a web conference system to the costs of travel and accommodation your business incurs when transporting a client in from out of the town, the difference in savings becomes obvious. You can't beat the convenience this provides in the business world.Online Businesses Business and Finance

Native American Dance Sticks In Tribal Ceremonies Posted By: Craig Chambers

Craft making for Native Americans is a very diverse and rich aspect of their lives. It is part of traditions and rituals and represents spirituality and power. This article will provide a brief look at Native American dance sticks and how these essential tools are important aspects of the Native American society.

These interesting dance sticks combine culture and craft making. They are traditionally used by the bravest of the tribe, the warriors, who dance in important events like tribal ceremonies to symbolize the strength and power of the brave warrior.

Of the various ways dance sticks are constructed, their symbolism of the mighty warrior is often portrayed through an animal form. Often, the thunderbird, horses, bears, elks and deer are used. Dance sticks are normally made using feathers, leather fringe, beautiful beadwork and animal hide.

The Native American dance stick is a good representation of the skilled craftmanship of these tribal people. They represent a lot of work. A genuine artifact of this type can often sell for over a hundred dollars. How wonderful it is to be a part of the Native American people and to understand how connected they are to their environment.Native American Indian music dance sticks artifacts southwest tribe craftsmanship dance pow wow

Native American Rattles Create A Beautiful Sound Of Music Posted By: Craig Chambers

Native American rattles are very important percussion instruments. It's interesting to learn that there are rules connected with the use of rattles in the Native American culture.

These unusual rattles are an integral and necessary part of Native American music. The rattle, when played along with the hand drum, gives a steady beating which inspires Native tribal music. Mostly, music is dependent on vocal styles and percussion and the rattles act as another important aspect to the whole musical repertoire. Usually, there are gender roles in the usage of rattles. There may be a difference when it comes to the type of musical instruments that either a man or a woman may use. Turtle shell shackles are used primarily by women of the Southeastern Indian tribes during ceremonies.

In both ceremonies and rituals, the Native American rattle is used. One of the most well known types of Native American rattles are those made from turtle shell. Another popular form is the gourd rattle and another is a rattle made of rawhide. The patterns and symbols on the rattle will vary depending on the culture of the particular Indian tribe. Notable tribes like the Zuni and Apache have impeccable handcrafted decorations.Native American Indian music southwest tribe dance pow wow rattles rattle Indian ceremonies

The Art Of Native American Hand Drums Posted By: Craig Chambers

There is an important history pertaining to Native American hand drums. While many changes have taken place throughout the years, the drumming circles of these proud people still resonate with pride.

It is something as engaging and as appealing as the beat of the drums that they are playing. The Native American drum has a voice which is the center of their unique culture and music. Music is mush enhanced by the percussion of the drum. It definately takes the beat of a drum in order for music to be truly called Native American.

We dance to the beat of drums. It woud not be Native American music if the beat of the drum was not present. This music has a great affinity with hand drums and holds a very important place in the existence and unique nature of Native music.

The tribal music flows with unique sounds. Native hand drums are constructed much the same way, no matter the tribe. Hollowed out logs are used for the frame. Native Americans used animal skins such as goat, elk and buffalo to stretch over the surface of a drum and secured using a piece of leather.Native American Indian music drums hand drums hand drum southwest tribe drumming circle pow wow

Rules About Business Gifts Posted By: Kris Ann

Giving out business gifts can be a sticky situation. Just about any company of size will have a rule list to go by. There are certain limits to what people can accept. Having to ask about those issues can be uncomfortable and time consuming. All you need to do is get some clarity on what is the norm in these situations. That way there will be no problem when you get a big order of the same item to give out. It is standard practice with most firms, to have limits and acceptable gifts. If you pay attention to the guidelines listed it will make the process easier.

Generally speaking, a great number of companies have a gift acceptance policy that is based on nominal value. Nominal value is pretty much anything between $25 and $50. Annually you should not go over $100. If this happens several things may occur. The item will be quickly returned, company management will have a pow wow about it, or sometimes it will be confiscated my management. None of those are in line with your goals when giving the present.

Most organizations cover a large number of items in their gift policy.corporate rules Business Gifts
