Fundamental Information To Be Aware Of About The Shetland Sheepdog Posted By: Brent McCoy

The Shetland Sheepdog (nicknamed the "Sheltie" and originally named the "Shetland Collie") is a herding breed that resembles a smaller version of the Rough Collie and commonly features a sable and white, black, white and tan, blue merle, sable merle or black and white coat. The breed can be traced back to the 1700s, and they were initially bred for the chief purpose of herding smaller livestock.

Some of their more identifiable traits are often described as high intelligence as well as their loyal and affectionate temperament - which all help in making the Shetland Sheepdog a suitable dog breed for competitive agility or as a family companion dog.

Much of their early history is a mystery, though the Shetland Sheepdog is known to have first appeared in the Shetland Islands of Scotland when Border Collies and other herding dogs from the mainland such as the Rough Collie or Pomeranian were brought there and cross-bred with the smaller local dogs as early as the 1700s. Their smaller size enabled better control over the smaller livestock found in this area and they were also often chosen or protecting the homes of farming families.Shetland Sheepdog facts Shetland Sheepdog information Shetland Sheepdog info

Pomeranians Are Perfect Companions Of Our Life! Posted By: liss

I own a little Pomeranian named Femi who is 4 years of age now. Our day starts by pampering her and ends by taking the whole mischievous activities she had given to us on that entire day. So the whole day is in her name. Before buying her, we gone through the general information containing a pamphlet about the Pomeranian species and the most attractive line in that was Pomeranian dogs are great family pets. When Femi came to our house she becomes close to us in such a way that it's really difficult to leave her alone in the house when we go to work.

Most attractive features of this breed are its adorable face, thick and long outer coat and long bushy tail. This smart and sturdy dog has wedge-shaped face and dark almond shaped eyes. Though our Femi is a cream colored dog, this species is available in various colors, such as black, white, orange, red, and in certain other combinations. One of the interesting facts about Pom is that even if it is in a large family, it will follow, obey and will be close to only a single member.Verizon FiOS TV FiOS TV Pets

Essential Facts To Be Aware Of Regarding The Pomeranian Posted By: Brent McCoy

The Pomeranian (nicknamed the "Pom") is a fox-like toy breed of dog that features a thick double coat that comes in red, orange, cream, brown, white and several other multi-color combinations. The breed first appeared in the 16th century, and was first bred for the chief function of herding sheep.

Just a few of their more identifiable traits are described by many as there intelligent, energetic and playful temperament - which essentially make the Pomeranian a popular show dog and companion for singles and families with older children.

The Pomeranian is recognized for their busy, attentive and curious character. They are generally reserved with people they don't know and may bark a lot, which often means they are suitable as a watch dog but not so much as a guard dog due to their size.

The Pomeranian is also demonstrated to be quite intelligent - scoring 23rd in comparison with other dogs based on their ability to be taught obedience instructions. They are additionally known to need constant supervision when around children to ensure they don't become handled too roughly - meaning they are not the most suitable as a family pet.Pomeranian facts Pomeranian information Pomeranian info

Let us have a look at the working dogs at first. The first one is the farm dogs, grey hounds, security/guard dogs as well as the canine sports dogs. We all know the sports dogs because of the agility as well as the quickness with which they work. This agility is due to the body, which they have got as a gift from the bogs. If you will have a look at the dog food supplies then you will find a lot of dissimilarities between the puppy dogs and the working dogs food. Just have look at all these foods and you will find a lot of dissimilarities between their compositions. Right now, we are not going to look at the puppy food but the working dogs food.
The working dog foods must not contain the artificial colors, flavors as well as the preservatives.Working Dog Food Dog Food Supplies Puppy Food

Lap Dogs: Common Lap Dog Types Posted By: Hober Smith

The lap dog is a type of dog that is so small it can be held in your arms with ease. They are cute dogs that can be carried around like an accessory. They are usually owned by people who like having their pet with them all the time.

Lap dogs first made their appearance in society among the high class individuals. They were portrayed as gentle companion dogs that kept people amused during leisure time. These laid-back types of dogs simply enjoy to be cuddled and to be played with, but yet again, which dog doesn't?

Pug

The Pug is a very demanding and sensitive lap dog. He needs constant attention and caressing. If you are always busy or simply can't stand your dog following you everywhere then the Pug is not the dog for you. Also they love sitting on the furniture.

This type of dog is very sensitive to weather conditions. You should be really careful when taking him out for a walk. Pugs really prefer sitting indoors, where they will try and mark their territory. Overall the cuteness of this dog comes at the price of a stubborn pet.types of dogs lap dogs lap dog types

Dogs By Design? Posted By: Kim Salerno

Also known as "crossbreeds" or "hybrid dogs", designer dogs have gained quite a bit of popularity over the past couple decades. Although some people attribute the name "designer" to other luxury items such as designer sunglasses and designer handbags because of their trendiness, the name actually comes from the fact that these new dog breeds were designed for specific purposes.

A designer dog is an orchestrated mix of two purebred parents - but each parent is a different breed. The goal is to create a dog that combines the desirable traits of each breed while leaving the lesser desirable traits and genetic problems behind.

It's a Poodle World

Many hybrid dogs are a cross containing a poodle to combat one of the most common undesirable traits of dogs: shedding. Contrary to popular belief, shedding causes most of the allergy problems for people who are allergic to dogs - not the fur itself. When a dog sheds its fur, tiny pieces of skin shed along with it. A protein in this skin (dander) causes the allergic reactions. More shedding = more dander = more allergies.pet pets dog dogs breeds cross breed designer labradoodle puggle cockapoo

Keeshond Dog Breed Information Posted By: Heather Rey

The Keeshond Dog breed originated in the Netherlands long ago and is a relative of the Chow Chow, Pomeranian, and the Samoyed dog breeds. These small and fluffy dogs were used as watchdogs and companions since they are such affectionate dogs. As watchdogs, these dogs were used to keep watch on Dutch riverboats on the Rhine River during the French Revolution. These days, they make excellent dogs for families and can still be great watchdogs.

Keeshonds are very playful, affectionate, and easy going dogs. They are quite intelligent and easy to train, so having them around other pets and children is quite easy to do and they get along great with others. Along with training them to behave well, Keeshonds are able to do tricks and can be easily trained to do a variety. They do like to bark from time to time but that is what makes them wonderful watchdogs in order to alert others of danger or suspicious behavior. On average, Keeshonds tend to weigh on average between forty and fifty pounds. Males are usually seventeen to nineteen inches in height while females tend to be between fifteen and eighteen inches in height.keeshond dog insurance pets pet insurance keeshond

Everyone Has A Blast While You Are Naming Your Puppies Posted By: William Hong

It is not as easy as it sounds when you are naming your puppies. Much thought goes into making the right decision because it is a reflection of you and your pet, and will stick around for many years to come. Pompous names will make people think you are arrogant. Boring names will make friends think you are uncreative.

A small, unpublished study has resulted in guidelines for deciding how to go about assigning a name. Data includes information on how to gain respect from friends because you have selected a brilliant name. It also includes guidelines for selecting a name that the dog will respond to.

Words that easily blend into the conversation cannot be heard well by dogs. The name must have a harsh sound to stand out. Simple, one-syllable names with a hard T or D are the best to produce a response. The name Dog is much easier to hear and remember than the word Ariel, so the pet will learn it and respond to it faster and more reliably.

Depending on the type of friends you have, they may not find a name like Dog funny.Puppies Puppy

Consider The Breed When Naming Your Puppies Posted By: William Hong

Naming your puppies can be tough, since it will stay the same as long as you have the dog. Friends may question your sanity if the name is odd. Likewise, you may be considered boring if the name is unimaginative.

A very small, unpublished study has resulted in a great method for naming puppies. The data has been broken down into instructions for you to maintain the respect of friends, and for the dog to actually respond when you call. Animals can only understand short words that stand out from a sentence. They are not as smart as we like to tell our friends they are.

Names that do not have a hard sound are hard for dogs to hear. Teddy is much easier for dogs to pick out than Theodore because the initial T is hard in Teddy. A simple name used over and over, like Spot is very easy for dogs to understand. Friends, however, will label you boring. Very long names are almost impossible for dogs to remember, like King Reginald of the Matterhorn. King, however, is a great name and dogs will respond to it quickly.Puppies Puppy

Consider Personality Traits When Naming Your Puppies Posted By: William Hong

Naming your puppies is more of a challenge than you might think. The name you choose is a reflection of not only the newly adopted baby it is a reflection of you. If you choose a name too mundane, friends will think of you as boring or uncreative. A name too complex will make you seem pompous.

The results of a minor, very minor, study have produced some guidelines. The research has produced some data. The information has been broken down into two categories, people-friendly and puppy-friendly names. Contrary to popular belief, animals do not understand people nearly as much as we hoped. Names that do not stand out in a conversation are not easily recognized by puppies.

Soft-sounding names are difficult for dogs to distinguish. For example, Theodore is not as obvious as Teddy, with a hard T. The much-maligned name, Spot, will garner a reaction because it is short and has hard sounds, the P and the T. Likewise, Ariel will likely be ignored but Dog will get a response faster. One-syllable names are easier for your four-legged friend to remember, too.Puppies Puppy

Possessing A Teacup Pomeranian Puppy Posted By: Jackie A. Smith

The teacup Pomeranian puppies are tiny, adorable pets that actually belong to the land of Pomerania. Now, Pomerania is a part of Germany as well as Poland. They have come down from the Spitz group. They cannot be any cuter with their tiny fox-like faces and powder puff coats. They are generally red and orange but they are available in other colors too.

The teacup Pomeranian puppies need a lot of care and attention. They have a thick double coat which can become matted too easily. So the owners of these pets have to spend large amount of time in brushing these fur. The ears as well as eyes of teacup Pomeranian puppies also get dirty very soon. So they have to be wiped out regularly.

The teacup Pomeranian puppies are tiny bundles of energy and double up as nice watchdogs too. Although they are small in size, they do not get frightened easily. They are very good in identifying things and sound in their surroundings. They do not like to remain alone for long hours and prefer that people pay attention to them.puppy food teacup puppies cesar puppy food
