Lionel Messi In 2012 Posted By: David Daniel

"Good things come in small packages" can rightly be said about this short statured yet destructive Argentina and Barcelona forward Lionel Andres Messi. Yet again, he has won the 2011 FIFA Ballon d'Or beating Real Madrid's Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, at a ceremony in Zurich. He won the World Player of the Year award for the third time in a row, thus becoming the first player since Michel Platini (1983-1985) to achieve this remarkable feat.

He received Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010. 2011 had been a pleasant year for Messi, earning him several recognitions. He won the 2010-11 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award. Messi, who has drawn comparisons to Diego Maradona because of his artful playing style and his short height, was also named one of Time magazine's people of 2011.

He has won five La Liga titles and three Champions League titles. In 2006, he became the youngest Argentine to play in the FIFA World Cup. His first international honour, an Olympic gold medal, came in 2008 in Beijing with Argentina winning the Olympics football tournament. In 2011, Messi scored 59 goals in 70 club games for Barcelona.horoscope pisces horoscope

The Pathogenesis Of Periodontal Diseases: Periodontist Houston, Tx Posted By: Rozar Platini

For periodontist in Houston, TX successful intervention in a disease process requires that the practitioner understand the disease process fully. An example of this is our new understanding of duodenal ulcer pathogenesis, which has led to a paradigm shift in treatment of ulcers away from medications affecting acid production to treatment with antibiotics. Without an understanding of the role of Heliobacter pylorii in the pathogenesis, a rationale for treatment with antibiotics was non-existent.

Our understanding of periodontal diseases has developed slowly. In a series of papers, Low established the role of oral hygiene in the prevention of gingivitis and implicated bacteria in the development of gingivitis (I). This finding provided support for several approaches to treatment. First, it supported the concept that removal of bacteria from the root surface was a critical step in controlling periodontal disease, thus leading the way for scaling and root planning as a cornerstone of periodontal disease treatment. Second, it supported the role for 'treating periodontal disease with antibiotics. We have since found that both of these approaches have limitations. To a degree, these limitations are defined by our incomplete understanding of the disease process.periodontist Houston TX periodontal treatment Houston

Gianluigi Buffon Recovers From Injury And Takes Time Off With Family In Malta Posted By: Mr Angelo Xuereb

Gianluigi Buffon was born in Carrara Italy 28 January 1978. Born into a family of athletes it was sure to propel him into sports stardom. His mother was a discus thrower, his father a professional weight lifter, his two sisters volleyball players and his uncle Angelo Masocco an Italian basketball player. Also goalkeeping legend Lorenzo Buffon is a cousin of Gianluigi's grandfather.

Gianluigi Buffon began his Football career with the youth system of Parma in 1991 at the age of 13, soon achieving his first professional contract at age 17 from Parma Football Club.

Being sent straight into the depths of the Serie A one of the hardest leagues to play in if you're a goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon proved to have a strong mind and a strong body and quickly earned a first squad position. In just 3 years after he signed for Parma, Buffon was awarded his first cap for the Italian national team, in a FIFA World Cup match against Russia (he replaced Gianluca Pagliuca who was injured).

Although Gianluigi Buffon played well for Parma his place in the national team wasn't certain and he had no real trophy winning perspectives by playing for the mid-table club. The Palace Malta Hotel in Sliema TemptAsian Talk of Town

Should Technology Be Used In Football? Posted By: Graham Worrall

Many sports have embraced technological advancements to aid officials. American football, baseball, basketball, cricket, field/ice hockey, NASCAR motorsport and rugby league/union all use instant replay technology, whilst athletics and horseracing use technology for "photo" finishes. However, football, to date, has declined to use such technology and lags behinds other sports in this respect.

The lack of technology has been highlighted by a number of potentially "game-changing" mistakes by officials in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In the 2nd round, England were denied a goal as officials failed to see a Frank Lampard shot cross the line. Later the same day, Carlos Tevez was miles offside when scoring for Argentina against Mexico, yet the goal was allowed to stand. Similarly, video replays suggest that the Netherlands' 2nd goal in their semi-final against Uruguay was scored from an offside position.

Whilst the media appears to be in favour of the use of technology, FIFA President Sepp Blatter and UEFA President Michel Platini seem firmly opposed to goal line technology and instant replays to aid football officials, making their introduction seem unlikely in the immediate future.techology in football technology in soccer

When Didier Drogba Got A Pat On The Head Posted By: Ernest Legrand

I wonder how Drogba is feeling right now knowing that none other Michel Platini has "got his back" months after the incident that saw him getting a three match ban in Europe. If I were in Drogba's boots, I'd sure feel like giving him the same treatment I gave Referee Ovrebo on that fateful night. I really laughed out loud and I am pretty sure Drogba did too. I mean, when the incident occurred, why didn't Platini leap to his defence? Why did he keep mum? Hmmm... maybe he gave the player a private phone call in order to encourage him.

Michel Platini's utterances on this issue amount to an attempt at approbating and reprobating. Listen to him; "I was like Drogba in the past when I saw an injustice as a player". If my understanding serves me right, what Platini is saying here is that there was in fact, injustice done by the center referee on the night.

Earlier on, he had said the TV stations focused on Drogba and not the decisions. He averred that Drogba showed comportment.didier drogba referee platini mistake judgement champions league chelsea manchester united evans

Why Blatter's World Cup Expansion Is A Sham Posted By: Martin Sejas

We are about to head into an international week, a series of World Cup qualifiers from all over the World. Football lovers such as myself live for these types of tournaments, they are bigger than all the big leagues in Europe, because they generate interest from even the most indifferent of football supporters. I however, fear for the next few major world tournaments. FIFA and UEFA have clearly made some fundamental mistakes in selecting the hosts for the next few tournaments, and I can only hope that I'm proven to be wrong.

We just witnessed a wonderful EURO 2008 this year. It was a great spectacle, lots of goals, great matches, upsets and surprises. The best thing was that it was relatively incident free with regards to issues off the field. The tournament was conducted in a peaceful manner, and everyone, journalists, fans and players alike were satisified with "Swissaustria". Fans travelled in numbers without any problems, and people watched around the world.

Everything was organised well and everybody involved could just focus on the football. This is the way it should be. Unfortunately, FIFA and UEFA clearly don't believe in this philosophy.sports news football blatter FIFA World Cup South Africa UEFA EURO
