Most Loyal Human Friend In The History - Horse Posted By: treeves

When you turn the pages of history, you find many instances of horses being an inseparable entity of many civilizations. It is said that History was written on the back of the horses, according to an inscription at The Horse Park in Kentucky. For centuries, horses have developed a special bond with humans who owe this Equus caballus of having served a variety of practical purposes to mankind right from 4000 B.C. An intriguing example of human-animal co-operation is the fascinating partnership between Horse and Rider. As I watched the movie Hidalgo on my Verizon FiOS TV, I was awestruck to see how the horses developed relationships with their masters. Hidalgo is a beautiful painted wild Mustang.

After watching Hidalgo, I desired to watch more movies on horse like Black Beauty, The Derby Stallion, Dark Horse, The Wild Stallion and many other wonderful movies. These remarkable animals share an astonishing trait like the power, and gracefulness, the ability to implicitly trust, and perform complex tasks in tandem with a human partner, working toward a common goal.Verizon FiOS TV Horse fios tv

Types Of Horses Posted By: Joshua Adekane

Light Horses

These types of horses tend to be mainly picked for riding and for undertaking light work and are also quick and nimble. Some of the preferred breeds of horse that belong to this class will be the Arabian, the Quarter horse, the Morgan and Thoroughbred. Arabians are usually beautiful horses renowned for the gorgeous shape of their heads as well as their affectionate quality. They are good for riding, especially the females because they are gentle and incredibly powerful. Next, the Quarter horse, it really is called as such since it could possibly run quicker than other horse breed by a quarter mile. They are really great horses suitable for working. The Morgans are industrious horses which can be more powerful than other bigger breeds like the Thoroughbreds. They can be smaller and kinder too. Thoroughbreds, on the other hand, had been bred in the uk and they are the quickest horses within the land. Additionally they become taller compared to nearly all horses and are also very good jumpers and you may already ride one who just became a year old!equine veterinarian Equine first aid kit.Equestrian veterinarian Equine wound management Equine first aid Horse first aid kits Wound horse Horse first

Pulp Fiction Fans Take A Dangerous Ride On 'the Carnival Of Death' Posted By: Thomas McNulty

The word carnival is derived from the Italian word, carnevale, and literally means the absence of meat. Carnivals have become synonymous with merrymaking and wild festivities just before Lent. The traveling carnival had become a popular and inexpensive attraction during the Depression era when a family's every penny was valuable. Just walking a carnival's midway, the carnival's central concession area - offered a variety of sights and sounds that titillated, amused and even frightened the casual pedestrian.

A carnival's exhibitions were as varied as the people that strolled down the midway marveling at the rides, games of chance, exhibits and sideshows. Specialty acts included tattooed performers, bearded women, freak shows, strongman acts, a sword swallower and weird animal attractions such as two-headed cats or five-legged ponies. Such entertainment was affordable during the economically challenging times and during its heyday, millions of Americans partook of a carnival's colorful amusements.

It was only natural then that one of America's rising pulp fiction stars would set his sights on the carnival as the location for one of his hard-boiled and spectacular stories.

A Gold Hunter Takes Pulp Fiction Fans Prospecting In Devil's Manhunt Posted By: Thomas McNulty

Symbolized by Au (from the Latin aurum, or shining dawn) and number 79 on the periodic table of elements, gold is the one metal along with silver that is identified with money and wealth. Gold is used as coinage and is the standard for many monetary systems. Gold fever has stricken many a prospector and in the vast reaches of the American West gold prospecting is a way of life.

Arizona has the largest concentration of gold seekers with its rich topography that both entices the prospectors while discouraging them with its often treacherous terrain. This rugged landscape, rife with desert and dry creek beds that can easily flood during one of the southwest's rare but violent thunderstorms, is also the pulp writer's domain.

In L. Ron Hubbard's classic, Devil's Manhunt, twenty-three year old Tim Beckdolt has struck paydirt. After a month of grueling work he can boast a haul of $175,000 in gold ore. All he has to do is survive, for there in the shadow of the aptly named Desperation Peak young Tim Beckdolt is about to be ambushed. Not only his fortune but his life hangs in the balance.audio book audio books free audio books audio books free audio books download downloadable audio books free online audio books audio books download au

When The West Was Wild! Posted By: Thomas McNulty

This is the American West between 1834 and 1899; a tough and unrelenting landscape that is both beautiful and harsh. By itself the landscape is breathtaking - the deep woodlands and majestic mountains, the rolling prairie and the thriving rivers and streams are but a paradise to the artistic eye. The western expansion that blossomed after the Civil War altered this landscape. The Pony Express, the stagecoach and the Iron Horse conquered the land and gave birth to a new breed of man - the outlaw.

This is the landscape and these are the men and women whose stories are told in a series of action packed novels and stories from the Golden Age of pulp magazines. And of all of the writers that cast their creative eye on the western one became so popular that readers wrote the magazine editors demanding more of his stories.

This was L. Ron Hubbard, born in 1911 in Nebraska and raised in Montana when events like those which he would soon write about were a recent memory.Golden age stories audiobooks adventure audio books adventure stories American Superhero audio book collection audio books audiobook books onlin

The Literature Of The West Posted By: Thomas McNulty

The western came of age as a pulp magazine and then as a paperback. The paperback market began to dry up in the 1970s as the celluloid western was replaced by the profitable science fiction extravaganzas. With the exception of books by Louis L'Amour, the western story was deemed a thing of the past. Even readers unfamiliar with the western will have heard of these titles: The Virginian, Riders of the Purple Sage, The Ox Bow Incident, Shane, The Searchers, True Grit. These books have become part of our national psyche, aided and abetted by the equally popular film versions.

Owen Wister's The Virginian wasn't the first, but it's the best of the early westerns that would soon glut the market. Zane Grey's Riders of the Purple Sage may be the best know title in western fiction. Readers interested in Grey's original typescript are referred to the paperback version published by Leisure books which makes available the unexpurgated manuscript. Leisure Books also published Grey's "Last of the Duanes," which is the original version of what later become The Lone Star Ranger.Golden age stories audiobooks adventure audio books adventure stories American Superhero audio book collection audio books audiobook books onlin

The Western Rides Again! Posted By: Thomas McNulty

The western story, which originated in the nickel and dime pulp magazines of the late 1800s and flourished for a remarkable period from 1925 through the early 1960s, has always been available in some form. The western came of age as a pulp magazine and then as a paperback. The 30s and 40s was a Golden Age for pulp magazines, but these pulps are slowly crumbling to dust.

The paperback market began to dry up in the 1970s as the celluloid western was replaced by the profitable science fiction extravaganzas. With the exception of books by Louis L'Amour, the western story was deemed a thing of the past. Well, not exactly. Although many knowledgeable people will tell you the western was effectively dead by the late 1970s, the truth is the western never died. It's been mishandled, misunderstood, and often ignored by certain factions of the writing community who view such stories as inferior. But it's not dead.

A pulp renaissance is underway and numerous companies are reprinting the classic pulp stories from the glorious Golden Age.Golden age stories audiobooks adventure audio books adventure stories American Superhero audio book collection audio books audiobook books onlin

Blazing Six Shooters And Galloping Hoof Beats Posted By: Thomas McNulty

During the 1930s Americans were struggling to make ends meet as the Great Depression taxed the nations fortitude, but audiences found hope not only in the many Hollywood westerns that were being cranked out at a breakneck speed, but by the action-packed stories they were reading in pulp magazines. Perhaps no era in history coincided so fortuitously with two intrinsically American popular mediums. The film industry and the pulps complemented each other, and in many ways they nurtured each other.

And while the plots were sometimes simple, they were by no means simplistic. These were characters driven by a strong moral code, by their faith in their country, and by the ability to overcome obstacles with intelligence, compassion, and of course, brawn. And since the audience demanded action, the pulp writers dished it out in hot paragraphs loaded with blazing six-shooters and galloping hoof beats.

There is a currently a pulp renaissance underway and numerous companies have begun successful reprint publications from the pulp era's Golden Age.Golden age stories audiobooks adventure audio books adventure stories American Superhero audio book collection audio books audiobook books onlin

Code Of The West Posted By: Thomas McNulty

The Cowman and His Code of Ethics remains a popular and respected work. Such a western ideology has been exemplified on film by numerous actors, but clearly John
Wayne has come to epitomize the image of an honest, law-abiding cowboy.

Perhaps no better representation exists than from Wayne's final film The Shootist (1979) where his character, an aging gunman named J. B. Books, tells Gillom Rogers (played by Ron Howard): "I will not be laid a hand on. I will not be wronged. I will not stand for an insult. I don't do these things to others and I require the same of them." The line is so closely associated with John Wayne that it is mistakenly attributed to him on officially licensed coffee cups, posters and other merchandise. In fact, the line originated with novelist Glendon Swarthout and was used verbatim by Miles Swarthout when he wrote the screenplay based upon his father's 1975 book.

Glendon Swarthout's The Shootist is every bit the masterpiece as the John Wayne film. And John Wayne is undeniably the number one actor for fans of the western.Golden age stories audiobooks adventure audio books adventure stories American Superhero audio book collection audio books audiobook books onlin
