Infertility is the inability of a couple to become expectant with a child (in spite of any cause) after 1 year of unguarded sexual intercourse (sans any birth control methods).
Infertility Causes
Age: A woman becomes reproductively challenged as she progresses into her fifth decade of life (age 40-49 years). Among men, as they grow old, levels of testosterone fall and sperm motility and quality changes, considerably.
Endometriosis: In this abnormality, the uterine tissue overgrows, outside uterus and may subsequently damage the fallopian tubes and ovaries.
Pelvic Inflammatory syndrome: Sexually transmitted diseases may be linked with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and damage a woman's fallopian tubes.
Environmental and occupational risk factors: Exposure to hazardous chemicals like lead, heavy metals, and sometimes pesticides has also been associated with male infertility. Other factors like extreme exposure to heat, ultrasound and microwave may also be responsible.
Miscellaneous factors: Excessive tobacco and alcohol consumption, obesity, thyroid disorders might also be responsible.

Clomifene-How Does It Clomifene Work?
Basically what Clomifene/Clomiphene does is that is sends signals to receptors which in turn tell the body to cease making oestrogen, as there may have been levels of oestrogen which inhibited menstruation. Once these levels are reduced then the pituitary gland should increase the production of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and this encourages the ovaries to ripen eggs making them ready to be released.
