Great Summer Holiday Islands For 2011 - Menorca Posted By: Henry Ashworth

If you want to get away for a late summer break, one island in particular could be just right if you're booking for a family.

Part of the Balearic Islands and just two hours flight from the UK, Menorca has always been known as the quietest of the group which includes Ibiza and Majorca, and for good reason.

It's ideal for families, and it's how Menorca wants to stay.

Many of this year's visitors will be families who chose the island for their first family holiday and found it to be all they hoped for that they have kept holidaying on Menorca while their children have grown up - and then by themselves once their offspring have flown the nest.

If you decide to book a trip to the island, which areas are best suited for a family visit?

S'Algar is a purpose built holiday area, not far from the capital Mahon and the airport where the Menorca flights arrive, located on the south-east coast of the island. It has a variety of accommodation available, including both villas and different standards of hotels. But not really the area for a beach holiday.Minorca flights villa holidays in Menorca James Villa Holidays www.yourmenorca.net

Menorca - The Safe Haven For Tourists Posted By: Henry Ashworth

Since the recession started tour operators in the UK, Germany and other European countries have tried to combat the recession by offering new areas that are cheaper than traditional favourites like Menorca, and there has been a significant number of tourists happy to try out the new offerings.

British holidaymakers in particular have found the new destinations tempting as they are outside of the Eurozone, and with their currency struggling against the Euro but still buying good amounts of other currencies, even in times of recession it has still allowed an overseas holiday for many, when there might not have been during the economic downturn.

But as recent events in Egypt and Tunisia - two of the four big new locations - have unfolded, it could be that many families will switch back to their Menorca holidays as safety and security become just as much as a priority as overall price.

The other two destinations heavily promoted by the tour operators are Morocco and Turkey, with Turkey having the largest share of tourism of the four. While Morocco has an elected government, the King has a lot of power and the country administers the disputed Western Sahara area.safe haven Menorca holidays vacations travel

Tour Operator To Go Exclusively All Inclusive Posted By: Henry Ashworth

When money is tight, and many people are concerned with their job security, it's no surprise that many families view a holiday abroad as a big ticket item, and value for money is one of their priorities when booking a trip.

And it's with this economic background that one of Britain's leading tour operators has decided to offer package holidays - and nothing else - from next year.

Announcing the move, their spokesman said said the move was a first for the mainstream holiday industry, and that nearly two-thirds of the holidays they sold were already all inclusive ones.

First Choice are part of the TUI Group, which also includes Thomson Holidays, which will continue to offer all inclusive deals but also flight and accommodation only should people want that.

But package holidays are a real mix of what can be good for a holiday - and what can be bad, according to Tribune Properties who run a series of European travel sites.Menorca package holidays all inclusive holidays First Choice Thomson Holidays

Spanish Summer Holidays 2011 - Menorca Posted By: Henry Ashworth

One of the great escapes for families during the summer holidays is the Balearic island of Menorca.

Smaller than Majorca, and definitely quieter than Ibiza, of all the Balearic islands Menorca is best known for family holidays.

Menorca is well known for her quiet fishing villages and resorts, and is geared more towards holidaymakers seeking relaxation as opposed to hard partying. The island also has a variety of attractions and sights to keep any visitor engaged.

Part of Menorca's appeal rests on the fact that overdevelopment has been strenuously resisted. Its numerous green spaces make it a refuge for tourists who like to enjoy nature's unspoilt beauty. The towns of Mahon - the capital - and Ciutadella offer numerous sight seeing opportunities.

Menorca holidays offer a wide array of outdoor activities including horse riding, cycling and golf. Due to the good weather, quite a few tourists play golf. Club Son Parc is a large resort featuring an eighteen hole golf course. This family-friendly resort is home to the only golf course on the island with a practice range and instructors for new golfers.Menorca Mahon Airport Menorca real estate Minorca Balearic Islands Spain

Mixed Messages For Spanish Holidays Posted By: Henry Ashworth

After two years of European wide recession, there are tentative signs that the number of people taking a holiday abroad this year will rise, and islands like Menorca which depend upon tourism for a good economy is hoping to see more holidaymakers visit this year.

But just when the travel industry needs some kind of reassurance and a boost in confidence that the number of Menorca holidays being booked is on the up, mixed messages are putting restaurant and hotel owners on edge as to what will really happen.

Comforting was the news that statistics showed that Spain stopped the decline in tourist arrivals last year, and even put on a one per cent gain on the previous year - given the number of people who had decided to save money by having a 'staycation' and flights being stopped across Europe when the Icelandic volcano erupted it could have been a lot worse.Menorca Minorca opinion polls travel economic uncertainty

Longer But Less Holidays For 2011 Posted By: Henry Ashworth

Family holidays this year for many will be going back to what was the norm a generation ago, and for those who remember the 1980's they will recall when vacations were an established part of the calendar for many couples and families - more often than not it was taken in August, would be for a couple of weeks, and it would be the year after before the routine was repeated - often to the same location, and more often than not at same villa or hotel accommodation.

But over more recent times with cheaper travel and budget airlines, extra leisure time, easy to find loans and a thriving economy the holidays industry was transformed in the 1990's and changed to adapt to what holidaymakers expected.

The beginning of the internet and subsequent use by a large part of the population made going on holiday overseas easier as well, as people were able to become their own travel agency and could compare all the deals on offer from their their own home or office to design their ideal vacation.family holidays family vacations family Menorca vacations

Minorca Holidays - A Holiday Destination For All Posted By: Mike Anderson

Menorca is perfect for families, romantic and view seeking pairs, young and aged whosoever wishes for a wonderful beach holidays in Spain and more. As a Mediterranean isle, Menorca has integrated much of its growth as a traveler destination into its existing small-island way of life.

In the midst of a small number of exceptions, resorts here are usually quieter and a bit more family-oriented than perhaps the case on other islands for instance Ibiza and Majorca. The island has deliberately neglected the brashness and noise of mass enclosed holiday resorts favoring a reasonable blend of scenery, entertainment and tradition. That is not to say that lots of the resorts do not boast an exciting nightlife as they do.

A lot of the accommodation on the island, exterior of Mahon and Ciutadella is based around the coastal regions. A lot of these resorts are situated on striking stretches of seashores (the island has more than 150) and are different from what are still basically fishing villages right up to stylish and attractive holiday sites.menorca holidays minorca holidays holidays spain

Could The Mediterranean Diet Help You In 2011? Posted By: Henry Ashworth

The media regularly runs news items and advice articles on health and diet. As obesity rates rise in the developed world, there is concern that people are not paying attention to their health. Beyond the problem of obesity is the issue of overall well-being, including emotional health.

The general consensus among health professionals is that most people are not paying enough attention to their diets. Few are getting enough daily physical activity. Even more alarming are statistics showing that many people are dying from preventable illnesses. Others are becoming increasingly depressed or affected by emotional problems.

One area of concern that is not given the kind of attention it deserves is depression. For many, there is something of a stigma attached to this particular condition. The fact that depression is considered a mental illness results in many people being unwilling to seek help.

Dealing With Depression

Depression affects many facets of a person's health. It can affect the body's normal functions, moods and thoughts and the way they behave. Depression varies in severity from person to person. Some sufferers may not even realize that they are displaying symptoms of the illness.health anxiety diet Mediterranean diet travel fitness

Irish Economy Battered - But Minorca Holidays Still Being Booked Posted By: Henry Ashworth

Continuing to struggle against the Euro, some UK tourists have been swapping quality for value during the recession, and instead of booking their summer holidays to Minorca have been taking their vacations in cheaper countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco and Turkey - but with Egypt and Tunisia in a revolutionary state they are looking again at safe areas - with Minorca gaining bookings for the summer.

Over the Irish Sea in Ireland, their economy has fared worse than Britain's, but for those who are taking holidays abroad this year the Irish who are still in employment and receiving a salary have an advantage over the Brits when it comes to a Minorca holiday - the Euro.

Ireland like Spain has the Euro as their currency, and it means Irish holidaymakers don't have to keep an eye on how their currency is performing and wince at the foreign exchange bureau when planning their trip - they can use the same notes and coins in Minorca as they do back home.economy Euro revolution Mallorca Minorca travel

The Spanish Balearic Island Menorca, Also Referred To As minorca Posted By: Viva Espana

Minorca and Menorca are two interchangeable terms. This island is a prominent one among the many distinguished Spanish Balearic Islands positioned on the Mediterranean Sea. The identify Minorca refers to this island?s being minor in dimension compared to the neighboring island known as Majorca. Minorca now has a fairly large population (roughly 88,000). With lush scenic magnificence, this island stands at 39°forty seven' - forty°00'N and 3°52' - 4°24'E. The best point on this island is called El Toro. It?s also called Monte Toro. This one is 358 meters or 1174 ft above the ocean level.

Minorca can also be known for the megalithic stone primarily based monuments like navetes, taules or talaiots. All of them signify historic primeval human activities. Among the many first cultures on Minorca was influenced by many different types of Mediterranean cultures, which included the Minoans of the earliest Crete. As as an example, the use and functions of overturned plastered timber pillars at Knossos are believed to have thoroughly influenced the early civic lives of Minorca, who imitated these practices.Menorca or Minorca Menorca Minorca

Menorca Hotels Step Up A Grade For 2011 Posted By: Henry Ashworth

When tourists can pick and choose a hotel based on reviews freely available on the internet, holiday destinations need good ones to remind tourists why they should visit, and three hotels have done the trick for the Spanish holiday island of Menorca as it prepares for the year ahead.

Menorca is well known in Europe as an ideal island for villa holidays - of the three Balearic Islands it's quieter than both Majorca and Ibiza, and is popular with families looking to spend quality time together, and part of Menorca's appeal is the family friendly restaurants and beaches.

So the fact that Menorca has been recognised for her hotels as well as traditional villa holidays is welcome at a time when the holidays market is battling the recession to keep the tourists flying in for a week or two.

The Hotel Apartments Princesa Playa in Cala en Bosc is named as one of the world's best family hotels - reinforcing the island's image as one of being family friendly.Menorca hotels Spanish hotels holidays travel holiday destinations

Majorca Still Looking Good For Irish Tourists In 2011 Posted By: Henry Ashworth

The Balearic islands of Majorca, Ibiza and Menorca have long been popular with European tourists, and one important group have made Majorca their top choice for years - and early bookings for 2011 suggest the island will stay that way for Irish holidaymakers next summer.

Majorca appeals because it caters to a wide variety of tastes. Young and old, singles and families can find something to make their holidays special.

The Balearics include Menorca - also called Minorca - and Ibiza, as well as Majorca. The almost year round sunshine, immaculate beaches and natural beauty constantly beckon. Menorca alone has in excess of 100 beaches, so the only problem is choosing one. No wonder the island is also referred to as 'The Island of Pleasant Breeze.'

Other attractions and activities in Menorca include the following:

* Visits to museums: Two popular museums in Menorca are the Museu Municipal de Ciutadella and Museu de Menorca. The first has an interesting display of artifacts from when the Muslims, Romans and Talayots lived on the island.

* The Los Delfines Aquapark: Children and the young at heart will be especially happy with the offerings here.Majorca Menorca Balearic Islands Ibiza holidays vacations

The Spanish Balearic Islands, Also Known As The Baleares Posted By: Sarah Keller

The Balearic Islands is also called Illes Balears. They're some of the exotic archipelagos on earth standing on the coronary heart of the western Mediterranean Sea, very close to the east coast of the colorful Iberian Peninsula. The four largest islands currently are - Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza, together with Formentera. This archipelago has fashioned a completely unbiased community and happens to be one of the outstanding provinces of Spain. The capital is on the metropolis is known as Palma. Spanish along with Catalan are the official languages in Spanish Balearic Islands.

Let?s take a closer take a look at the geography of this region. The prominent islands of this autonomous group are - Majorca (also known as Mallorca), Minorca (alternatively referred to as Menorca), Ibiza (popularly often called Eivissa) and Formentera. And all of these are now highly standard locations for the tourist coming from throughout the world. Amongst the smaller islands, there may be Cabrera.
Cheap Holidays 2011 - It Has To Be The Internet Posted By: Henry Ashworth

A survey recently found that among Europeans, British holidaymakers are the best planners, often booking holidays four months in advance while other countries see their citizens book much closer to the time they want to go away.

But whether it's a holiday in 2011 you're looking into, or one this side of the New Year, planning a trip and researching local facilities has never been easier or more informative thanks to the internet.

And as well as seeing what local areas are like for those looking for somewhere new, reviews can be read about the hotels available from people who have just visited, taking the guesswork out of where to stay, and prompting those hotels who do fall below the standard most holidaymakers expect to hopefully improve their performance.

The other benefit of booking and researching a holiday is price, with different companies competing to get the business - and the price difference between those online holidays and those offered by traditional travel agencies is apparently wider than ever before, according to a new report.cheap holidays internet travel Menorca Spain

Renting a villa can also be just as cost effective as staying in a hotel, with the advantages of having your own pool and doing what you want when you want.
