Betta Fish Food Posted By: Mark Bowen

Proper diets requirements for betta fish are often misunderstood. This leads to obesity and swim bladder disorder when overfed or other illnesses due to a lack of nutrition and variety. So let's start with proportions.

How often should I feed my betta?

In the wild, betta fish will eat whatever they can when they can. This instinct causes us to believe the betta is still hungry which leads us to over feed them. In a betta's natural habitat random insects land on the water surface at completely random times. So feeding two pellets at the same time of day, twice a day, every day is not a very stable feeding schedule. A random piece of food at random times is the best way to kick off a healthy diet. Try feeding one pellet in the morning the first day, then two pellets at night the following day or just randomly when you can think of it. The more random it is the more natural it will feel to your betta. Also be sure to skip a day of feeding once a week. This helps clean out the digestive tract to prevent constipation.betta fish beta fish food feeding fighting fish betta

Raising Ducklings - Easy Tips To Raise Baby Ducks Like An Experienced Owner Posted By: Mary Louise

Raising ducklings are reasonably simple to do, if you stick to a few easy steps. The largely crucial thing that many people do not know is that ducks should by no means have medicated feed. The best thing to feed ducklings and goslings is a 21% "non medicated" starter feed. It is moreover a sound proposal to deposit a vitamin and electrolyte powder in the water to provide them a pleasant start. Ducks drink a good deal more water than chickens. Raising ducks can be an enjoyable experience and is not very hard if these few elements are supplied.

Ducklings do not take heat well, so be sure not to overheat them. They like a temperature of 90-92 degrees for the initial 3 days, then 85-90 degrees for days 4 to 7. Thereafter, decline the temperature by approximately 5 degrees for every week until they are fully feathered. They should continuously be able to move away from the high temperature. Out of breath and drooping wings are a sign that they are too hot.raising ducklings raising baby ducks raising ducks

Feeding Desert Lizards Posted By: Derrick Anderson

Biologists use three terms to describe the feeding behavior of animals. Carnivores, or predators, feed upon other living animals; herbivores feed upon plants; and omnivores feed upon both plants and animals. Most desert lizards are carnivores or omnivores.

In some deserts, large monitor lizards are important predators in the ecosystem and will consume many species of reptiles, mammals, and birds. The largest lizard in the United States is the Gila Monster (Heloderma suspectum), which is a carnivore and feeds upon small mammals and occasionally the eggs of ground-nesting birds. In fact, most lizards are carnivores and their primary food source is insects.

Insect Food

Insects are the primary food for desert lizards in captivity. The more common commercially raised feeder insects are gray crickets (Acheta domesticd), meal worms (Tenebriomolitor), king mealworms or super worms (Zophobas morio), and waxworms (Galleria melonella). Herpetoculturists with time and space can easily raise these species in captivity. Dr. Fredric Frye's book A Practical Guide for Feeding Captive Reptiles (1991) discusses the culturing of most of these species. For those who do not want to raise their own insects, there is an increasing variety of commercial sources for insects.reptiles pets lizards

Ice Fishing Tackle And Tools Posted By: Jay Bryce

In addition to warm clothes and waterproof boots the following gear is all you need to catch fish through the ice in the winter:

A short fishing rod and a small reel.
Fishing line.
A package of wax worms or meal worms, and some small hooks.

Tackle

Jigging rod - Light and flexible rods used mostly for panfish (bluegills) and walleye. A short, firmer rod is better for perch.

Tip-up - A clever device that signals when a fish hits on your line. A flag "tips up" when the fish strikes and gives you the freedom to leave the fishing hole for a moment.

Hooks - Small number 10 or 12 hooks are recommended for panfish. Short shank number 3 hooks are good for walleye. Northern pike go for large number 2/0 to 6/0 hooks. Swedish hooks, also called pike hooks, are used for northern pike.

Lures - Ice flies and teardrop lures with live bait are recommended for panfish.

Jigs - Walleyes can be caught on minnow imitation jigs.

Line - Light monofilament (a thin plastic length of string), 2 to 4-pound test (breaking strength), is all you need for panfish.
Preparation of Herbal Methi Chutney and Kawath Chutney
The word chutney has come directly from the Indian cookery. Served as a condiment with the Indian dishes, chutneys are prepared with fresh ingredients adding a spicy relish to the meal. Chutney earned its popularity gradually not only in domestic market but also in international market. Among a variety of Indian chutney, herbal methi chutney and kawath chutney are two popularly known recipes for their delicious taste as well as healthy benefits.
Methi is widely known in India both as an herb as well as a spice. The leaves and seeds of the plant are majorly served as spices adding a flavor to the Indian cuisines. The leaves of methi are also used for herbal treatment and cure. As a spicy and mouthwatering recipe methi can be consumed with rice, parathas or simple roti. To prepare methi chutney the major ingredients required are 2 bunches of methi leaves, finely chopped coriander, tamarind, turmeric powder and salt to add taste. The chutney prepared out of these recipes can be stored for 2 month in an air tight jar with sufficient refrigeration.fruit in the household of Indian subcontinents kawath chutn

Fishing For Bullheads Posted By: Jay Bryce

Despite the somewhat derogatory name, these prolific members of the catfish family have earned the grudging respect of anglers all over the world. Bullheads can be depended upon to bite at almost anything anywhere at almost any time of day, put up a worthy fight on the line, and once caught, make a tasty meal.

The standard angling technique for bullheads is still fishing. Unlike bass or musky fishing, there is no constant motion present in bullhead angling. Bullheads usually bite in two ways. In colder water, the line will twitch and move in spurts, but as the water temperature warms and the fish become more active, bites are signaled by a few light taps and a line-tightening run.

Tackle

Bullheads are predominantly bottom feeders, making the use of a bobber or float unnecessary. It may actually keep the bait away from the bullhead by keeping it off the bottom or by moving the bait away from fish on a windy day. Even the most inexperienced angler can discern a bite without a bobber as bullheads rarely bite so lightly that they don't move the line or rod tip.bullhead bullhead fishing fishing catfish fish outdoors spor

Bluegill Fishing Tips Posted By: Jay Bryce

The bluegill is native to central and eastern United States but has been introduced throughout much of North America. Many a young angler boasts the delicious bluegill as a first catch, while seasoned anglers using light tackle find it a valiant fighter. Bluegills are generally found in slow moving or standing water where there is plenty of vegetation or other shelter. Rarely will a bluegill chase food items; therefore, it's important to fish very slowly. This is true whether you use artificial lures or live bait.

Seasonal Location

Spring and summer is by far the best period to catch bluegills because they congregate in the shallows to spawn, become very aggressive, and are particularly easy to catch. Although bluegill can be found in very shallow water in spring and early summer, they move into deeper water as summer progresses. In summer, bluegill can be found along the edges of weed beds, around brush piles, stake-beds, and flooded timber, especially if deeper water is nearby. Bluegill are commonly found in water over 10 feet deep in summer. In fall, bluegill are usually found in similar locations as late summer.bluegill fish bait fishing fly fishing ice fishing sunfish

Freshwater Fishing Using Live Baits Posted By: Steven Hayes

More than half of freshwater catches are made with live bait, and in view that most fish are used to eating wriggling prey all day long, every day, this comes as no real surprise. Live bait has a natural smell and leaves a trail to be picked up by a foraging fish, setting up a much bigger potential catch area for anglers.

Therefore, live bait is definitely preferable to artificial lures during certain periods of the year, or when fish refuse to bite. Moreover, live bait fishing is fairly cheap in comparison with fishing with artificial lures, especially if fishermen catch their very own bait. This might seem time consuming, but once fishermen know the best places to look and have honed their collecting techniques, this obstacle becomes only a very minor consideration.

Undoubtedly, fishing with live bait can be tricky, and fishermen who wish to excel will need to put in the necessary effort to perfect the proper ways of storing and using them. To keep its advantage over artificial lures, live bait must be stored so that it retains its freshness and stays animated.carp pellets
