All About Jujitsu Kimonos Posted By: Max Plank

Equipment is carefully considered by present day martial artists, just like the warriors of the older days used to do: their life depended on it. The jujitsu kimono of today is as important to its owner as armor was to the ancient warriors. These kimonos are highly important for people who perform this martial art as it requires better flexibility and agility. A wide range of manufacturers and vendors are now vying for the attention of the jiu jitsu Practitioners. Both men and women in ancient Japan used to wear two-piece outfits that consisted of tops that resembled jackets and short pants. The sophisticated outfit of today is a modern adaptation of the ancient dresses.

The jujitsu kimonos are usually available with a top along with a pair of pants. The top of the uniform is also known as a "gi" jacket and is the main component of the entire jiu jitsu outfit. These dresses are strictly made for the practitioners of jiu jitsu. They are more durable and heavier than the costumes used in other martial arts. The weight of these kimonos ranges between two to seven pounds.riofightwear jiujitsu gi jiujitsu kimono bjj gi brazilian kimono jiu-jitsu kimonos riofightwear kimonos keiko raca kimonos gold weave single

What Is Combatives: Part 2 Posted By: Matthew McKernan

The Battle of Britain began in early July, 1940. England was isolated in a war against the axis of evil. The miracle retreat from Dunkirk and the German "Blitzkrieg" across Europe, including the crushing tactical defeat of the famed French "Maginot Line" proved the Third Reich war machine to be virtually unstoppable. Hitler's plan for the invasion of England, named "Operation Sea Lion" was a daily focal point of danger and concern for the British.

Dunkirk had decimated the British forces and moral was at an all time low. Two recently returned veterans of British colonial rule in Shanghai, China approached the War Office and offered their services at this desperate time. William Ewart Fairbairn, retired as a ranking officer of the Shanghai Municipal Police and his partner Eric Anthony Sykes, a private arms dealer who served as a volunteer in the Shanghai Municipal Police and headed the sniper unit of the famed Shanghai Riot Squad, promised the War Office that their training and methods could in short order, make "any one man the equal of ten."

After the debacle at Dunkirk this was a most important and dramatic statement.martial arts self defense

Seven Bizarre Reasons To Learn Kung Fu In This Nutty World! Posted By: Al Case

If it was your decision not to learn kung fu, or some other martial art...too sweaty, too hard...maybe you should reconsider. Society is flipping out, and I mean in our own safe, little cities. Here are seven instances of people who have gone over to the dark side, and they are the total argument for learning self defense.

Two girls didn't like the way some fry cook was taking their McNuggets order at their McDonalds restaurant, so they jumped over the counter and went after him. He decided to pick up an iron bar and proceeded to give them a little of their own medicine. McDonalds should have included Karate or Kung Fu lessons in their training!

Young kids don't have the only edge on insanity, because a sixty year old woman repeatedly stabbed her boyfriend. Her reason was that she was just sure that he was cheating at the Monopoly game they were playing! Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to jail...and it's too bad her boyfriend didn't know a little Krav Maga or Jujitsu!

Some people say Americans don't have enough protein in their diet, and maybe that is true.karate kung fu tai chi chuan pa kua chang tong long hung gar

Morihei Ueshiba And The Five Stages That Led To The Art Of Aikido Posted By: Al Case

The Art of Aikido was established and presented to the world by Morihei Ueshiba. O Sensei (great teacher), as he is called was not a heroic figure in the beginning. He was of poor health when he was a youngster, and somewhat sporadic in his training efforts.

In 1915 the first real step in the life of the founder of Aikido began. He met Takeda Sokaku, the last real samurai, who was the master of Daito Ryu Aiki Jujitsu. For over twenty years Morihei Ueshiba dedicated his life to learning this ancient art and perfecting the moves that would result in Aikido techniques.

The second step in the life of the founder of the Art of Aikido was when he encountered Onisaburo Deguchi. Onisaburo was the spiritual head of the Omoto kyo religion. Omoto Kyo (Great Source) preaches shinto spirituality and the achievement of personal spirituality through the practicing of virtue.

The Art of Aikido could be said to have officially been born when Morihei Ueshiba experienced personal enlightenment in 1925. He had a duel with a navel officer in which he defeated the fellow without harming him by using Aikido moves.art of aikido taekwondo hapkido gozoshioda

The Differences Of Mma And Karate Posted By: Travis Lutter

I am talking about the differences between the sports MMA and karate.

I have been doing MMA for about a year. It has become my favorite sport, and I think it has a lot of differences from karate. In MMA you learn a variety of techniques. You learn both strikes and how to grapple on the ground. MMA stands for mixed martial arts. It is called this because you use element from Jujitsu, Kick Boxing, Wrestling, Karate, and Taekwondo. Each of these types of combat has their own strengths.
In MMA you try to leverage the best from all of them.

I used to do Taekwondo, but I don't remember much, and I don't think it really helped me with my grappling. Karate means empty hand. I personally think MMA is more useful because I don't know where you could use those karate moves in a fight because if you tried to punch, then somebody would quickly take you down. I think Karate is more like dancing and performing open forms then training for real combat.
I still have respect for people that prefer this kind of sport but think it is much less practical than MMA.MMA Muay Thai Sports Self Defense

The Many Reasons Why Mma Training Is Beneficial For Your Kids Posted By: Travis Lutter

There are MMA mixed reactions among parents regarding the idea of getting their kids involved in training.

The truth is that MMA training for kids can be very beneficial. The various forms of martial arts have been used for many centuries as a form of self-defence and exercise. Mixed martial arts or MMA is a mixture of boxing, Muay Thai, grappling, jujitsu and many more. Throughout the ages a lot of adults have used MMA to take advantage of its many benefits and there is no reason why kids should not do the same.

One of the reasons why training for kids is great for children is its health benefits. Through MMA your kids will get plenty of exercise. Exercise is very important especially for growing children. MMA training for kids keeps them physically active for long periods of time. This is a better activity than having your kids watch TV, play video games or sit in front of the computer the whole day. Kids need lots of exercise in order to be healthy and physically fit and MMA training provides plenty of that.
MMA training for kids also helps them overcome their fears.MMA Muay Thai Sports Self Defense

Be Known For One Thing Posted By: Fabienne Fredrickson

What is the personality of your business? A lot of people have trouble growing their business very quickly and big because the business has a split personality.

When I was first starting out in business when I had my nutrition business, I saw people who would say, "Oh, I'm a holistic nutritionist but I also do Reiki and I also do jujitsu and I also do bach flower remedies and I teach yoga." That's great but they would try to communicate what they did and people just didn't really get it.

Then when I started hanging out with a bunch of coaches they'd say, "Well, I'm a sales coach, I'm a relationship coach and I'm a divorce coach and I'm all these different things."

What I've realized is the more things that you focus on in your business, the harder it is to grow. Why? Because if you're not clear about what you offer then the person on the other end, what we look at as the prospective client, they will be confused as well. So, split personalities in business do not work.business focus focus in business one umbrella umbrella concept in business

It's About Kicking Ass Posted By: Matthew McKernan

When you get down to it, there is only one real reason anyone gets into martial arts, to know how to kick someone's ass. Yep, I said it and I'll say it again, I don't care if you're a Shaolin Monk or Thelonious Monk, you got into martial arts because you wanted to know how to kick someone's ass. It's like the only real reason to go to a dance club is to hook up (don't trust anyone, gay or straight who says it's to dance, or the music). There's a reason why you stop going when you're attached, it's because you don't have to.

I know you probably give explanations for choosing your martial arts path to friends and family. I'm sure the reasons range from fitness to spiritual. Unfortunately that reasoning is pure and complete bullshit since there are dozens of other hobbies from yoga to triathlons, that will give you either or both of those benefits. Side note: Anyone uses the term "path" or "spiritual" in a sentence needs a swift boot to nuts.

The only reason ANYONE EVER signs up for a martial arts class is learn how to fight. Think about it, why "martial arts"?martial arts self defense

Martial Arts Responsible For Decline Of America! Posted By: Al Case

That Martial Arts are the real reason for America's decline and fall is unarguable. The lack of martial art training causes a lack of self discipline, a loss of integrity, and the decline of responsibility. This is exactly what is at the root of the decline of America.

Now, we can carry on about the big name corporations, the president being a socialist, the unions trying to get something for nothing, and while there is going to be a certain amount of truth in these things, the responsibility for change is still going to fall upon the individual. The horrific fact, you see, is that more than 1 out of every 10 Americans over the age of twelve is on prescription drugs for depressed mental health. This is not individual responsibility, this is band aids for cancer!

These meds are doctor prescribed antidepressants like prozac, and there has been a direct link established between such drugs and suicide. How many people commit suicide because of the martial arts? Not too many.martial art judo jujitsu taekwondo aikido karate

Weight Loss With The Martial Arts Posted By: Paul Halme

Obesity, or being over weight, is a condition in which having too much fat in the body may pave the way for other diseases. Obese people have a high risk getting various diseases like heart disease, diabetes and arthritis. Obesity is nowadays a serious public health problem. The United States has the highest rate of obesity in the world. According to the latest statistics, 32.2% of people who were above the age of 20 years were over weight. The number of obese people is increasing at a steady rate and showing no signs of stability. There are many causes of obesity like lack of activity, lower relative cost of food, increased food production and changes in lifestyle.

Doctors say that losing body weight will help two out of every three people in the United States. Losing body weight can put many diseases away. Obese people always have greater risks of getting a heart attack. Being over weight increases the amount of cholesterol in the blood. This cholesterol gets deposited in the blood vessels and narrows them, so that blood does not flow to the heart properly.Keller BJJ Keller MMA Keller Muay Thai Keller Kids Martia

Is There A Santa Clause, Too? Posted By: Matthew McKernan

This story was told to me by the late Carl Cestari who had asked our Judo instructor Yonezuka sensei to "perform" at a celebration of martial arts on Long Island, New York. It was called something like "1000 years of jujitsu". Yonezuka or "Yone" at the time was well into his 50's and still training hard (you should note that in his 70's he's still going strong). You should also know that Yone's skills in Judo, Karate and Sumo are incredible and his exploits are well known in the fight game in the 70's and 80's.

After some convincing, Carl takes Yonezuka to this demonstration in a high school gymnasium. The place is packed with people and as you would guess there's Aikido and Aikijujutsu demonstrations. People were getting tossed about by their finger tips and wincing in pain as they were being manipulated by their black belt instructors. It looks like a Steven Segal convention. While the scene is unfolding, Carl is watching Yonezuka grow a little agitated and impatient, as if he was thinking "you dragged me all the way out here for this?!?!"

Finally it's Yone's turn to speak.martial arts self defense

Use Of Twins Boxing Gloves In Match And Training Posted By: chris.medlock

Skills of fighting are essential for enthusiasts and players who are not only concerned with their fitness but also with self-defense. Some take it as sports and some take it as necessity. For those who consider fighting skills and self-defense as sports, undertake regular pathways of workout, exercises, and prescribed methods of practices in traditional ways of procedure and teachings. Those who consider fighting styles as necessity are selective and focus more on particular techniques that serve the purpose of their specific needs. In either case, proper workout, exercises, and respectively required training is mandatory. These styles and techniques are never self-taught. They require guidance and training under professionally skilled trainers.

Martial arts have an old history. It originated from oriental countries and transformed accordingly to the norms, requirements, and cultures of different territories. Every country has its own set of styles. For example, Karate and Judo which gained earlier fame and recognition in western countries, originated from Japan.
If You Want To Study Martial Arts Which Art Should You Study? Posted By: Al Case

Everybody has thought about a study of the martial arts. They see the Jackie Chan flicks, they hear the crime horror tales, and they know that if they knew something like Karate or Kung Fu they would be in better shape if they got attacked.

The choice becomes one of, do you study Karate or Kung Fu? Or Aikido or Tai Chi Chuan or kenpo or Pa Kua or Krav Maga or...the choices can be a bit overwhelming. So let's think our way through a few arts and consider what the correct decision should be.

Karate is constructed of powerful kicks and punches. The training tends to be regimented, and you will be expected to sweat. Depending on the style of karate you choose, you may end up studying such things as jointlocks, throws, and so on.

There are a number of kung fu styles available. There are styles which focus on close quarter combat, like Wing Chun, and there are styles like Shaoin which allow for more arm swinging techniques. There are very combative methods, like Preying Mantis, and there are strange and wild methods, like Monkey style, Drunken style, or even the Drunken Monkey Style.study martial arts learn martial art taekwondo aikido kenpo

Why Russian Martial Arts Are So Effective Posted By: John Trodey

Russian martial arts happen to be an extremely efficient and deadly form of this highly acclaimed fighting style. Unlike many Asian based forms of martial arts, where simply perfecting the moves and purifying your mind, is considered an art form. The people that practice Russian martial arts sole purpose is to incapacitate their opponent as quickly as possible, while ensuring that they fully protect themselves at all times.

Russian arts are used to train both the police force and army in hand to hand combat. One of the most popular styles is called Sambo. It is a combination of combative wrestling and grapping. Due to the fact that Russia has been invaded many times throughout its history, many of the techniques that are taught in Sambo, have been copied from some the countries that Russia has had wars with in the past.

In addition, Sambo has also attempted to emulate any other moves, regardless of where they originated, that would enhance this Russian martial arts style.martial arts russian martial arts fighting

Karate Forms, The Truth Of What They Mean Posted By: Al Case

The old school of teaching martial arts is by teaching Karate forms. This applies to Karate, Kung Fu, Taekwondo, Kenpo, and arts of that nature. Even if you're not in a kata oriented discipline, however, there is an adherence to the study of form.

The unfortunate fact is that most people don't know why they are studying in this manner. They don't see the connection between repetition of dance-like moves and real combat. The moves often even seem removed from any real function.

The first thing to understand is that the body is a form, and the dance is a form. Thus, when you move one, you move the other. The point here is that you are learning what you live in.

Most people think they actually are a body, but the cold, hard fact is...they ain't. But they won't realize that unless they take control of that flesh vehicle and start to move it. The best way to move that body is by doing kung fu kata.

The second thing one should know is that forms are actually advanced movements. Advanced movements require either massive amounts of time invested, or they require a total understanding of the basics.karate arnis krav maga aikido jujitsu judo
