An Angry Goldman Lashes Out Against Fraud Charges Posted By: Julie Thompson

An angry Goldman Sachs lashes out against fraud charges brought by SEC. Documents produced by Financial Times expose more strains between Goldman and SEC during the probe continuing for 20 months that culminated in the official charges being framed against this Wall Street giant.

Tensions had been rising between the two for quite sometime and this explains the sudden step taken by SEC to file a civil suit against Goldman on 16th April without prior hint. The document running into 40 pages was penned last September in response to the first accusations of SEC. The case is blotched with "fatal deficiencies" and the regulators are criticized for accusing having the advantage of "perfect hindsight."

The document of Goldman launches a frontal attack against the prime contention that Goldman had confused its investors by concealing the fact that Paulson AND Co (hedge fund) had a big hand in selecting bad loans that entered the CDO (collaterised debt obligation) to enable betting against it. The document read, "There is no basis in the law, the record or common sense in such charges.Marana foreclosures for sale

The Market Is Wrong Posted By: JasonStapleton

What follows is my personal view on market dynamics and principles that govern my own trading. It is written as simply as I can muster, in plain English, in the hopes of explaining my process to traders of all education and experience levels. Nothing that you are about to read is ground breaking. It is simply my attempt to put down in plain words my approach to the market.

It has been rightly stated that the current market price for a given security or commodity represents the collective agreement of all market participants at a given point in time. It is the "most perfect" price as determined by the collective. What has been grossly misinterpreted is that this price is the "correct price" that markets are efficient and therefore represent what should be.

Those of you in the world of finance would recognize this principle as EMH or the Efficient Market Hypothesis. For those of you who have not been blessed with an Ivy League education:

The efficient market hypothesis asserts that stock market prices are the best available estimates of the real value of shares since the market has taken account of all available information on an individual stock.forex secrets fibonacci retracement forex trading secret

3 Careers That Seem Glamourous, But Can Be Quite The Opposite Posted By: kas ksundheim

Many young job seekers graduate college or for their first years out of school have a very inaccurate perception of both the profitability and personal satisfaction of certain career choices.

A few of the most highly in demand are in the lowest pay column simply because there are 500 other young job seekers willing to replace that individual if they should not perform to the standards that a hedge fund paying 3x that amount would expect.

Yet, why would these jobs be just as competitive to get into? It is due to a perception that the below described careers are too glamourous to pass up.

Here are 3 of the biggest letdowns for recent college graduates and young job seekers:

1. Public Relations - PR companies recruit such great talent because younger job seekers want what they can't have and what 99.5% can't have is a high paying career in public relations.

This astronomically high failure rate has to deal with the perception that if a company is in PR, they are a good company to work for.Recruitment Services Headhunters Staffing Agency

Fund Houses Of Uk Hit By The Ext Of Clients Posted By: John martin

The asset managers of Britain had to go throw a phase of withdrawals in the last three months of year that has gone by. This happened as the customers were very much troubled because of the crisis of euro zone that has worsened further in condition. Apart from this also because of the market of finances that had been chopped and has less of an exposure to the investment of the funds.
Firs such as Jupiter Fund Management revealed out, since June 20120 when they had returned back to the London Stock Exchange about their net overflow in the first quarter that is initial three months. On the other hand Aberdeen Asset Management in the time of the ending of the month saw that a lot of clients withdrew in large numbers.
All over the fund management sector, quite a large number of investors have taken a back step from making investments that involve risks because of the volatile nature of the market that is riskier than cash or other kinds of passive products.Finance fund houses

How Much Is A Million? Posted By: Charlotte Mooney

Do you know what a million dollars in banknotes looks like? Or perhaps a billion, or even a trillion? No, neither did I, until I read about it last night. For anyone remotely interested in the financial crisis, banking regulations, Basel III, or even just current affairs, 'A Week in December', by Sebastian Faulks, is a cracking good read.

Don't worry; you are not in the wrong place. This IS an article about global investment banking and not a literary review. Yes, believe it or not, I don't spend all my spare time thinking about banking, regulatory compliance and Basel III. I am human, and from time to time I do actually like to relax and read a book or two.

Unlike Sebastian Faulks' other, better-known books ('The Girl at the Lion D'Or', 'Birdsong' and 'Charlotte Grey') 'A Week in December' is set very much in the 21st century, and although it was first published in 2009 is still very relevant to current stories that are dominating the news headlines every day.investment banking banking regulations Sebastian Faulks banknotes dollars Basel III regulatory compliance finance bank reform

Funds And Games Posted By: Revington Charollete

A large number of regulatory changes have taken place or have been proposed in the past two years affecting the financial sector. Of the recent regulatory changes, which has had the greatest impact on the funds industry to date?

Jeffrey Bronheim, general counsel, Cheyne Capital: When the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive [AIFMD] was published certain provisions could have harmed the hedge fund business in Europe. While the final directive is more appropriate it will still require many person-hours to understand and implement. In the past few years we have seen changing, inconsistent and often complex short-selling restrictions imposed by various countries and regulators, occasionally without warning. These appear to have had minimal impact in calming market volatility or slowing the fall in share prices, but they have certainly increased the operational costs of doing business and had a significant impact on trading strategies.

Matthew Cavanagh, general counsel, Christofferson Robb AND Company: Clearly, the AIFMD - not from the perspective of an impact on our day-to-day activities, but rather from that of needing to keep on top of its detailed terms and constantly assess its potential impact as it has moved through its various guises.cheyne capital hedge funds cheyne news

Gold Investments To Your Aid Posted By: Duane Hope

Gold Investments To Your Aid

With gold prices hitting the roof, this seems the right time to sell jewelry or to sell your gold and sell your silver. However for those of you who can afford to cling on to your old and valuable gold jewelry, this could also be the time to hang on to it. As has been observed, the value of gold remains steady despite ups and downs in the stock market. People who invested their money in stocks and shares have experienced huge losses or gains depending on the activities in the stock market. In order to protect yourself from extreme changes in fortunes, investment experts advise people to invest a part of their savings in gold.

When To Sell Your Gold

Investment in gold occurs in three phases. Initially when professional investment experts invest in physical gold, secondly when individuals invest in gold to offset the effects of inflation, and thirdly when the stragglers invest in gold to save their funds from the sagging economy.

Why The U.s. Housing Market Can' Posted By: Profit confidential

By Michael Lombardi, MBA
AND nbsp;
Despite what the popular media may be preaching now, the U.S. housing market is more than just upside down.
AND nbsp;
The American dream, at least as I remember it, always included owning one AND rsquo;s own home. It AND rsquo;s where the family would experience their fondest memories.
AND nbsp;
Until the credit bubble began in 2001-2002, the U.S. housing market was also a stable place to invest money, as it appreciated in the low single digits on average annually over the prior decades. Like owning a long-term government bond: consistent and reliable.
AND nbsp;
Since the now infamous housing bust of 2007, things have changed dramatically. With the U.S. housing market, the persistent environment of falling prices and home foreclosures has shifted people over to renting instead.
AND nbsp;
The apartment vacancy rate in the U.S. fell to 5.2% in the fourth quarter of 2011, a 10-year low, and the lowest level in 10 years! This in turn sent the average monthly rent up 2.3% in 2011, to an average of $1,009 nationally (source: Reis Inc.).

Opening Range Breakout And Day Trading Stocks Posted By: Scott Cole

One of the best strategies for day trading stocks is the opening range breakout. This is a common method of trading among hedge funds due to its ease of implementation within a mechanical trading system. Individual day traders should also consider this concept because it helps to eliminate some of the discretionary aspect of trading, and can lead to more consistent profits.

The opening range breakout is a methodology in which the trader waits to enter a position long or short when a security breakouts out above or below its initial trading range. This trading range is typically defined as the high and low price that has occurred within the first X number of minutes in the trading session. The beauty of this type of strategy is that it can be combined with a number other filters so that the trader can improve the probability of success.

The concept of the opening range breakout has been written about many times over the years, particularly upon the advent of computerized trading. Day trading did not become popular until the 1990's as the stock market boomed, volatility increased, and liquidity improved.daytrading day trading best daytrading stocks best stocks to day trade how to day trade stocks day trading stocks daytrading stocks trading stocks
