Gps Fundamentals For Boating Posted By: Marinetrader

GPS Basics
If you are thinking about getting a new GPS for your boat and are not sure how it functions or how to even work it, no problem. These units made nowadays are easy to operate.

Where do We Start
What is a GPS? GPS stands for Global Positioning System. Made for the military, a GPS can work anywhere in the world. It makes use of satellites in space to give you the latitude and longitude for your precise position on the land or water. There are a number of makes on the retail market; Garmin, Raymarine, Furuno to name a few. They all do the same thing, but several have more gadgets. It's all about your individual preferences. If the GPS has a built-in antenna, it is ready to operate as soon as you connect the power connections. You will need to have an unobstructed view of the sky as a yacht hardtop will preclude the GPS from receiving satellite signals. If your GPS has a remote antenna, put the antenna on the hardtop, radar arch or rail. Since a GPS antenna is "looking" up, there is no advantage to putting it high.GPS boating waypoints

An Overview Of How Fishfinders Work Posted By: Greg Holmes

Fishfinders aren't just for big commercial fishing boats anymore. Anglers everywhere can use these sonar devices to take the guesswork out of finding great fishing spots. They're ideal for small boats and are quite affordable. Regardless of your environment, a locating device is a helpful piece of equipment to include with your fishing gear. Let's take a look at how fishfinders work.Sonar signals are what allow these devices to work. The transducer that is mounted to your boat sends a signal below the craft. The signal is cone shaped. When the signal makes contact with objects like fish, weeds and other underwater structures, the signal or echo is sent back to the boat and is displayed as a chart on your screen. The power of the transducer will determine how long this process takes. As you can see, fishfinders are a great help to anglers because they'll never again waste time in an area where fish aren't feeding. One of the most important features to look for in a fishfinder is a simple operating mechanism.how fishfinders work fish finders fishfinders fishing recreation and sports

Gps Systems Are Becoming Cheaper Every Day, And Aren't Just For Your Car Anymore Posted By: John Gilliam

With all the recent advances in modern technology, there is now a wider variety of products than ever before. This is especially true in GPS products, as there are now not only GPS units that can help you find your way on the road, but serve other purposes as well. Like anything else, now that they have been on the market for a while, it is easier to find cheap GPS systems.

Auto GPS units are the most common GPS units, and the easy to handle portable models have become a popular commodity. Auto GPS units can have either audio or visual capabilities, with some units having both. These navigation systems are great for driving, but can even help you if you are hiking or riding a bike on a trail in the backwoods. Maybe the best thing about auto GPS units are that you don't have to subscribe to anything for them to work. Just turn your system on and your handheld unit can pinpoint your location and display your coordinates over a detailed map.

A handheld GPS system will be able to prevent you from ever being lost woods.cheap gps systems auto gps units

Florida Fishing Charters Posted By: Benicio Brown

Introduction - If you plan to go fishing in the Florida Keys area, the best option is to book a fishing charter. Forget about the complications and leave the job to an experienced captain and his crew. They will take care of anglers, licenses, live bait, tackle and cleaning of fish. They will also filet, package, and freeze your fresh fish. You will only have to worry about food, drinks, sunscreen, and having fun.

Rates - Rates for booking a Florida fishing trip go from $550 to $950. There are options for all budgets and schedules: half a day (4 hours either in the morning or in the afternoon) for $550; three quarters of a day (6 hours) for $650; or a full day for $750. You can also book deep bay or deep offshore trips for $800 or tarpon trips (either in the morning or afternoon) for $400. If you want to catch some big tarpon and multiple species of fish but have limited time, your captain can also organize a trip tailored to you. For example: tarpon fishing in the morning, then a half day offshore, reef or backcountry, followed by tarpon fishing again in the evening.marathon fishing charters florida keys islamorada book reservation
