Tips For Avoiding Fraud Posted By: Adriana Noton

In this highly computerized global community, the use of the internet has become a normal way to surf and shop. Unfortunately, there are criminals out there who try to take advantage of people in order to steal their money and identity. However, there are now effective ways of avoiding becoming a victim of fraud. Before you use the internet, you should know how to recognize fraud activity.

The following are a number of tips to help you avoid fraud:

1. If you are going to make a purchase from an online retailer, make sure that you know that the site is legitimate. Check with the Better Business Bureau or check online sites that keep lists of scams and fraudulent sites. Make sure there is a legitimate address such as contact phone number and physical address. Be wary of sites from a foreign country that you have never purchased products from.

2. Check to see if the company is part of a compliancy program that requires that the company meet specific security standards. Also check for a trustmark logo on the site. This will tell you that the site maintains effective security practices for protecting your personal and financial information.business ecommerce marketing retail shopping internet online payment credit card credit

Is Vmware Hosting A Reliable Solution? Posted By: Adriana Noton

With so many threats to computer databases, it has become essential to establish protocols to protect data on business computers. One such method is using VMware Hosting. VMware Hosting is the use of software made by VMware, Inc. that partitions servers into virtual servers with each server having their own individual copy of the operating system.

VMware accomplishes virtualization by using a computer's hardware resources to serve multiple virtual servers, with each running an independent operating system. VMware hosting differs from regular hosting packages where you require resources such as hardware. The benefits of VMware hosting have made it a critical and reliable component of business data management and security.

The benefits of VMware hosting as a reliable security solution include:

1. Businesses want to have peace of mind knowing that if there is a catastrophic event, their data will be protected. VMware hosting is the solution to ensuring reliable data protection. These high-tech data centers have amazing back-up facilities that are far greater than anything any office would have.

VMware hosting companies provide a high tech data center with remarkable back up facilities thereby effectively securing data during any type of situation such as power outages.Technology Computers Technical Hosting Managed Hosting vmware vmware hosting servers

Advice On Selling Jewellery On The Internet Posted By: John Lewis

The problem is is that jewellery retail online is about as competitive as anything else these days that companies vie for on page one of google. Some of the larger high street names take top positions due to there huge marketing budgets and strong branding. The jewellery business really does pay serious dividends for some but any young designer can't help thinking how wonderful it would be so take a portion of this sales.

It is obvious from the start that competition is fierce and only the most determined will succeed in generating an income online from selling jewellery. Don't even attempt to try a business of this type if you expecting immediate riches as this simply wont happen. Time is of the essence to establish any new business and the same goes for businesses that require a strong online presence. However if you think you can handle the challenge then do consider the following first.

Firstly before you even turn on your computer take a look at the products you intend to sell. Do your market research carefully - just because your friends and family may buy your products, would a complete stranger?jewellery jewelry ecommerce

Irs Pursues Fbar: Foreign Bank Account Reporting Of U.s. Taxpayers Posted By: Kevin Thorn

Undisclosed Offshore Accounts are being hunted down with FBAR (Foreign Bank Account Reporting) information requests of U.S. Taxpayers suspected of hiding assets in the wake of the UBS AG fallout and IRS Offshore Settlement Initiative.

What is in store for undisclosed account holders?

In 2009, the IRS and U.S. Department of Justice commenced a highly publicized investigation into Swiss bank UBS AG and U.S. account holders who essentially hid their assets from the U.S. Government. However, the investigation did not conclude with UBS. To entice taxpayers to come clean and disclose their foreign assets in exchange for lesser penalties, the IRS instituted the Offshore Settlement Initiative Voluntary Disclosure Program (the Initiative). Although the deadline to participate in the Offshore Settlement Initiative is long gone, it is clear that offshore tax evasion will continue to be a top IRS enforcement priority. Now, what can U.S. taxpayers with undisclosed offshore accounts who did not make the October 15, 2009 Offshore Settlement Initiative deadline expect coming up?

The IRS will be ramping up their Information Document Requests or IDRs targeting offshore bank accounts.FBAR Foreign Bank Account Reporting

How To Protect Yourself From Telemarketing Fraud Posted By: Adriana Noton

According to FBI estimates, "there are at least 14,000 illegal sales operations stealing from American consumers every day." Telemarketing fraud is a crime and everyone should learn how to protect themselves from these criminals. Telemarketing fraud takes place when scammers pose as legitimate charities, businesses, or other organization and call people with fake offers in an attempt to defraud them. These scammers use the phone to commit a number of different kinds of fraud. This can include: loan fraud, credit card fraud, sweepstakes and lottery fraud, magazine subscription and shopping club membership fraud.

The following are a number of tips on how to protect yourself from telemarketing fraud:

1. Know what to expect from a fraudulent call. They are good at what they do and know exactly what to say to trick someone into giving them their personal information. Ask for the name and contact information of the company they say they are representing. Do not give out any personal and financial information over the phone. If you are not sure if the call is legitimate and you are interested in the product or service, ask them to mail you written information.

2.telemarketing fraud attorney criminal defense criminal defense lawyer defense lawyer legal law

Taking A Look At Credit Identity Theft Posted By: Leo Chu

To begin with, the most common form of identity theft is credit identity theft. It is that case wherein a thief attacks a victim's financial assets. When he does, not only is the victim's finance at stake but also his reputation. Avoiding this kind of situation may be hard since anyone can be a target.

When we talk about credit identity theft, one of the easiest ways a thief can go with this crime is by stealing a victim's credit card or credit card number. The easiest way a thief can get hold of someone's credit card is by stealing the person's wallet or by simply targeting the actual credit card and his identification card without actually stealing the wallet where it may be placed. That way, the credit card theft will become unnoticeable.

Other ways a thief can get hold of a victim's credit card information is by skimming through paper works. This can be an inside job by employees or anyone who can gain access to a customer's information or his receipts after paying bills with a credit card. Once the needed information is complete, then the credit card fraud begins.credit identity theft identity theft identity theft checks

Samples Of Disputing Errors Posted By: Melanie James

Being able to dispute errors in your report is a right of every consumer. This right was strengthened even more when the Fair Credit Reporting Act was signed in 2003. This important step is one way to fight fraud and ID theft. By detecting early signs of fraudulent charges in your account, the appropriate action can immediately be done. A consumer can alert his creditors right away if someone has been illegally using his account in committing fraud.

What other factors can cause errors in a credit report? Sometimes, your creditors may accidentally report wrong information to the credit reporting agency. Still, there are cases where the credit bureaus fail to update its databases, which results to erroneous reporting.

Yes, mistakes are often committed and this is why everyone is encouraged to obtain a copy of their credit reports at least twice year so they can personally check the accuracy of their reports. But what if you do find errors in your report? How do you dispute these errors effectively?dispute credit report errors dispute credit errors disputing

How To Avoid Fraudulent Claims On Credit Card Merchant Accounts Posted By: Chris Harmen

The unauthorized use of lost, stolen, or fake cards happens a lot with credit card merchant accounts, and it's rising steadily. This causes issues for the cardholder as well as for the business owner and merchant processing services. The best way to prevent fraud is to be diligent about following security procedures.

'Card Present' Situations

When you're face to face with a customer processing their card through your credit card merchant accounts, you need to take time out to verify the person who gives you the card is the cardholder. Request identification such as a driver's license and match it up to the card. Then, compare the spelling of the name and signature, but also check to ensure it hasn't been tampered with. Lastly, don't forget to check for security features such as ghost images, repetitive designs on the signature panel, and holograms on the card as well.

Pay attention if the 'cardholder' exhibits odd behavior such as nervousness, pulling the card out of a pocket instead of a wallet, or seems unable to look at you. If you do notice any of these things, go a step further by calling the merchant processing services for authorization.merchant processing services credit card merchant accounts

Can Bankruptcy Get Mortgage Relief? Posted By: Steve

Can Bankruptcy Get Mortgage Relief? Congress is balanced to give bankruptcy judges more power to modify primary home mortgages in an attempt to stop the foreclosure crisis, a move Democrats and housing advocates have been pushing for two years in the face of hard opposition from Republicans and the mortgage industry.

The Mortgage Debt Relief Act of 2007 generally allows taxpayers to exclude income from the discharge of debt on their principal residence. Debt decreased through mortgage reformation as well as mortgage debt forgiven in connection with a foreclosure, qualifies for the relief. Back in 2005 when Congress overhauled the bankruptcy laws, one of the provisions under consideration was a provision that would have allowed bankruptcy judges to rewrite residential mortgages based on the current value of the real estate. That provision was dropped from the legislation under strong lobbying.

However, the mortgage industry, with a few exceptions, opposes the bill. Can Bankruptcy Get Mortgage Relief? Companies argue that allowing bankruptcy judges to modify mortgages for primary residences eventually would hurt consumers because lenders would have to increase loan costs to compensate for the improved risk that some principal might be forgiven.Bankruptcy Mortgage Relief

Be Faithful To The Lord - The Conversion Of Lydia Posted By: Denny Smith

"And when she and her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, 'If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay.' And she prevailed upon us." (Acts 16:15 NAS)

In Acts 16:13-15 we find the account of the conversion of Lydia in the city of Philippi. This is a very interesting conversion account and one that men have debated as to what actually happened. Yet, when one reads closely, there is little mystery to it.

Paul, Silas, and Timothy, as you recall, enter the city of Philippi to preach the gospel. Their first opportunity as far as we can tell to do so is to a group of women out at the river side at a gathering place for prayer. Lydia is one of the women gathered there.

The first mystery to some people is found in the statement in verse 14 where it is said that "the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul." Well, how did he do that? Did God take a kind of spiritual crow bar to her mind and heart and force conversion on her?Lydia conversion faithful Lord baptized heart Paul

Take Your Property Back Free And Clear Posted By: Upperhouse Enterprises

Believe it or not, Attorneys, of all people, are quickly developing a national reputation as champions of homeowners facing foreclosure, and are becoming a serious adversary for those banks attempting to fraudulently take possession of the homes of troubled homeowners.

In some cases foreclosure attorneys are receiving the homeowner's property back free AND clear, by filing a notice of rescission, and a quiet title action, based on Federal violations pursuant to the Truth In Lending Act (TILA), or the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA).

The new focus on contract law, debt-collection practice, securitized mortgages, the trusts that hold them, and the agreements that govern the trusts, have put foreclosure attorneys at the forefront of the rapidly expanding specialty of foreclosure defense.

Over and over again attorneys have found sloppiness, fraud and outright criminality in the nation's mortgage lending industry. Regardless of why homeowners have been unable to pay their mortgages, foreclosure attorneys maintain that nobody deserves to lose a home to the unethical and illegal foreclosure procedures that are now being used by many banks and loan servicers.fight foreclosure stop foreclosure foreclosure attorneys

How To Get Short Sale Funding Posted By: Upperhouse Enterprises

If you're a pre-foreclosure investor, having short sale funds available to finance all of your deals is the perfect investor solution to take advantage of today's booming foreclosure market. No Income, No Cash, and No Credit is Required to get funding to close all of your deals. Funds can usually be acquired within 48 hrs!

With the sub-prime mortgage debacle, and the recent tightening of the credit markets, you have no doubt noticed how much more difficult it is to acquire financing for almost any real estate deal these days. In the past, plenty of hard money options, along with double closings and simultaneous closings made closing REO's and Short Sales a breeze. However, with the credit crunch, mortgage fraud, and tighter restrictions with lenders and title companies, closing on Real Estate Acquisitions isn't as easy as it used to be.

However, there is still one very simple and easy way to close your REO, and Short Sale transactions without using double closings, hard money, Income verification, none of your own cash, No AAA credit, No simultaneous closings, or even the over complex land trusts.
Using Software Escrow Services And Escrow Agreements Posted By: Steve Jackson

When selling anything of great value to someone unknown to you, it is recommended that you use an escrow agent, and this applies to software and intellectual property just as much as items like jewelery. An escrow agent is a trusted third party agent, who works on an escrow agreement that is satisfactory to both parties involved, the buyer and the seller, and handles receipt of the item or items being sold, as well the funds to purchase them. When all points of the escrow agreement have been met, the agent will then release the goods to the purchaser, and the money to the seller. This protects against fraud and scams, and is becoming more necessary for software now.

Now escrow can be applied to intellectual property, and such things as software, where the source code is held by the escrow agent. A software developer write some source code and then sells the resulting software to a licensee, but this licensee needs to know that the software will still be supported by the developer for at least a few years, otherwise it is useless to him.software escrow escrow agreement escrow services licensee intellectual property third party agent
