Sustainability Of Concrete Masonry. Posted By: Bryan Kamatoy

CCMA stands for Carolinas Concrete Masonry Association. It is a non-profit trade organization. This association focuses on promoting the premium utilization of technical information, masonry materials, the benefits as well as economics using masonry and codes for the commercial and housing construction markets.

Carolinas Concrete Masonry Association offers not only education but also promotional assistance and advocacy to all its members. Concrete masonry product has advanced characteristics. It does not have any negative impacts on the environment. Furthermore, it has insect and fire resistant characteristics.

Using this environment friendly product for creating new looks become superior. There are couples of reasons why to use concrete masonry. First, one is the Green building and another is Sustainability.

First, we will look at what is the sustainability. It is the tolerance capability to experience, suffer or undergo without yielding or surrendering. Throughout its all the stages in the life span from raw material manufacture to destruction, concrete is an ally of the environment. Concrete masonry builds the rust free structures that will never burn or rot. They help to build long-lasting structures having great durability.build retaining wallretaining wallretaining wall blocksconcrete sealercement blockconcrete blockcement blockspaving stones

The Automatic Fire Extinguisher Posted By: Bennett Glover

Last October 2006, a new law was ratified replacing over 70 safety laws - The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) or simply known as the Fire Safety Order. One of the law's aim was to decrease the timely occurences of fires in the United Kingdom - over 40,000 cases a year! Now, a number of tools, equipments and measures have been taken to make sure that the law is followed. Commercial establishments have to be able to prove through strict conditions, that they have adequate fire safety facilities. Some examples of these fire-dosing solutions are different types of fire extinguishers, fire blankets, fire hose reels, fireproofing via intumescent material and easy access to knowledge and information via the local fire station. A prime example that will be discussed here is the automatic fire extinguisher.

The device itself, is more of preventive in nature rather than something that actually battles with raging flames. The term automatic connotes that the device works on its own much like sprinklers and smoke detectors. It works in addition to the ever-reliable fire alarm but works a bit differently.fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

Chrome Fire Extinguishers: Making Fire Safety Easy On The Eyes Posted By: Bennett Glover

Ever since commercial establishments were strictly imposed by law in the United Kingdom to impose satisfactory fire safety measures in their facilities, (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005) it has been a bit of a concern to keep their aesthetics with big, red imposing fire extinguishers hanging around the venue. Thankfully for such companies, more stylish and eye-pleasing chrome fire extinguishers are now available with a sleek, polished metallic look that doesn't ruin the ambience - much to the delight of many establishments. This can be considered, a creative breakthough on the part of the companies that have brought this to the market.

Fire extinguishers along with a number of other fire safety measure equipments such as fire alarms, fire blankets and fireproofing materials have now become a mainstay requirement for all business operations in the United Kingdom. Legal issues aside of course, it provides much needed safety to the people who frequent these places everyday. It also adds a premium to the value that establishments give to their guests by assuring them of their security while they stay at their venue and avail of their services.

There are many kinds of fire extinguishers for different kinds of fires.fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

Blessed Miguel Pro - Martyr Of Mexico Posted By: Bob and Penny Lord

The secretary said, "The Pro brothers have not confessed any connection to the crime, and we have no proof against them."

But the following morning, without benefit of an examining judge, or lawyer, or anything, sentence on Miguel Pro and his three companions, was to be carried out. Keep in mind that none of what was going on was known by Miguel Pro. He and his friends were sure they would speak to a judge, or someone, and this whole charade would come to an end. This was not the first time he had been in prison, nor would it be his last. It was just another nail in the Cross.

He was most likely relieved when the guard came and told him and his brother Humberto to follow him. Miguel bounced up, leaving his vest behind. When the guard sent him back to get his vest, something clicked in Migue's mind. Possibly a sinking feeling went through him. Was this it? Was it his time to follow in the footsteps of his Savior, to walk his Way of the Cross? He went back into the cell, and put on his vest. His brother Roberto, helped him with it.Miguel ProMexican MartyrBob and Penny Lord

Water Fire Extinguisher Guide Posted By: Bennett Glover

Indeed, while a water fire extinguisher isn't an answer for all types of fires, it is very versatile and works well for common types of fires such as ones caught on the curtain, other fabrics, paper and the like. While there are different kinds of fire extinguishers depending on the situation or use, this article will mainly focus on discussing the advantages of this particular type of fire extinguisher in your home, how to operate one in the case of a fire and most importantly what conditions look like where it would be wise to just vacate and leave if it is too much to handle!

A water fire extinguisher is ideal first and foremost because it is easily stored and easily used when the time comes. It just sits on a stand after it is delivered, tucked away from sight and yet should be easily grabbed in the case of an emergency. Whether your house is big or small, this type of extinguisher comes in the 3, 6, and 9 liter volume varieties. Secondly, because the most common of fires get caught on fabrics and other common household items.fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

Co2 Fire Extinguisher Guide Posted By: Bennett Glover

Among the different types of fire extinguishers, the CO2 fire extinguisher is perhaps the most versatile and therefore the most commonly used type of fire extinguisher - able to deliver in a good number of fire emergency situations, readily available in fire safety supply distributors and relatively affordable for a one time payment for one's safety. While a CO2 extinguisher can be used for the majority of most domestic and commercial fires, make sure that you obtain the right kind of fire extinguisher suitable for your home or establishment.

Different types of fire extinguishers carry different chemical compositions and are therefore used in different situations AND applications. So why choose a CO2 fire extinguisher over other types? Well a very good reason is in modern man's growing reliance on technology and therefore electronics. This type of fire extinguisher unlike a water based or foam based extinguisher, can effectively put out a flaming electric generator. At the same time, CO2 extinguishers can also put out minor flaming pieces of cloth, carpet or curtain which commonly get caught in fires at home and petroleum products such as crawling flame from car gas leaks.fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

A Selection Of Chubb Fire Extinguishers Posted By: Bennett Glover

In general, everyone is pretty much familiar with fire extinguishers. We know them already to be necessities in every home and business establishment. We know that in the case of a fire, we grab a big red canister and spray away. Of course, companies are already aware of the rules imposed by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) which requires them to have an approved fire prevention system. But what a lot of commercial establishments and homeowners don't know is that fire extinguishers differ from one another depending on the source of the fire - and thus in reality different types of extinguishers are needed depending on what dangers are expected in a certain location or activity. Chubb Fire Extinguishers is a well-known brand that conveniently segregates these and explains clearly these differences.

The most generally bought and used is the Water Fire Extinguisher. Based on the simple principle that water puts out fire, this one is ideal for putting out fire from objects that easily burn from exposure to fire such as clothing, paper, carton material and the like - the most common objects at home which get caught on fire.fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

Panic Bolts: Emergency Exits Made Safe, Easy & Convenient Posted By: Bennett Glover

In any establishment, fire exits that are safely locked on normal days, yet easy to open in the case of emergencies is vastly essential. Thankfully, gone are the days of using a "glass breakable" tool which is at often times unsafe especially when accidentally opened by children. Nowadays, the use of ceramic panic bolts is becoming more and more widespread.

The panic bolt also called the panic bar is a tube that covers an emergency exit door from the interior. The two main functions of a panic bolt are first, to make sure that an exit in an emergency situation, in particular fires and earthquakes are easy - usually with a built in mechanism of "break in case of emergency" to open the door to a safe exit. Second, to make sure that while breaking out is easy, breaking in through the door would be pretty much impossible since the breaking mechanism comes from the interior. Panic bolts are then particularly helpful in power outages in which residents of an establishment will need to use the stairways to safely vacate the premises.fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

Do Ventless Fireplaces Really Work? Posted By: Wes Fernley

Most people are skeptical about these ventless wonders. They remember how often a chimney for a wood-burning fireplace gets clogged and how miserable it makes everyone. If anyone in the house has a compromised breathing system, the consternation is even deeper. It's hard to believe that there can be a fire that gives out warmth and looks inviting without also spewing fumes.

Well, if the room is reasonably ventilated, the ventless fireplaces work well. You usually need to have one window open just a bit, but you'll find that the warmth it puts out is very nice and you'll probably not notice any fumes at all.

But wait! It gets better! If you choose a ventless fireplace that burns biofuel, there are essentially no fumes at all. There's a little steam and a minuscule amount of carbon dioxide, not enough to be concerned about, and not enough that you will smell it.

It's very good news that there are many of these on the market right now. You don't need a fireplace with a chimney at all. You can even hang one of these on a wall.fireplacefireplaceethanolbiofuelbiofuelburnernaturalgas

The Commercial Need For A Fire Alarm System Posted By: Bennett Glover

The title needs very little explanation, come to think about it. And yet, the need for a fire alarm system in commercial districts cannot be overemphasized - and there are several reasons for this. First of all, the safety of the residents within a commercial setting depends largely on how fast people can respond to an emergency. Secondly, the local fire station definitely needs to be informed as soon as possible in case professional help is needed for break-in and rescue operations. Third, the establishments' promptness in responding to fire, among other disasters can help safeguard their commercial assets. Fourth and lastly, because it adheres to the The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) that came into ratification in 2006 of United Kingdom law.

In a sense then, the installation of an efficient and effective fire alarm system is a key priority to the safety measures of any establishment. We are all familiar with how it works of course - a network of sensitive detectors in the vicinity alerts for the presence of fire via a heat detector or a smoke detector. (Which makes sense to ban all cigarette smoking indoors, as it may activate the alarm!fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

Intumescent Strips - A Practical Addition In Fire Safety Posted By: Bennett Glover

Interestingly enough, when an establishment invests in fire safety one stocks up enough fire extinguishes AND fire blankets then proceeds to install a network of smoke detectors, sprinklers and a good number of fire safety signs to boot. Of course, there are less known methods of fire safety but certainly quite effective in their own right - one such example is the use of intumescent-based fire safety devices such as intumescent strips.

For starters, lets define in lay terms what an intumescent is. Basically, intumescents are substances that expand when temperatures rise - increasing in volume but lowering in density. This is especially useful then, in lining gaps that may conduct fire into other larger spaces. When the fire starts, the intumescent material then expands closing the gaps to prevent further spread of fire and therefore, any further damage from happening. The usage of intumescent material in this way is part of a larger process known as fireproofing.

Intumescent material comes in a variety of chemical compositions depending on its use. While intumescent strips in general, come in a variety of forms - a couple examples are the intumescent pipe wrap and intumescent glazing tape.fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

Fire Hose Reel Fact Page Posted By: Bennett Glover

Fire safety equipment involves a different set of tools for different situations. For instance, we all know that fire extinguishers are meant to be used immediately when a small fire starts. In more extreme conditions such as when people are trapped in a burning building (knock on wood!) firefighters are trained to use a variety of tools and techniques to safely and systematically break into a house or building, rescue the people inside and put out the fire. But before the firefighters get to our prized establishments, we of course need to have mobility in putting out fires. This is where the ever helpful fire hose reel comes into play.

First and foremost, this device is an essential building and/or business appliance in compliance to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) ratified in 2006 in the United Kingdom. What it does basically, is provide a readily accesible and powerful flow of water - controllable up to a third of a liter per second for fire hoses. A control nozzle is located at the end of the hose to allow a firefighter to control the direction of the water and to regulate its flow.fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

Tips In Positioning Fire Safety Signs Posted By: Bennett Glover

The Fire Safety Order of 2005 in summary states that every business, charity or voluntary organization, contractor, and pretty much any place that welcomes a flow of guests are now required to equip themselves with fire safety measures. This means fire extinguishers, fire blankets, first aid kits and the like. But there is more to just having the equipment themselves - a good business owner must make sure that access to and usage of such equipment will be easy to follow and understand in case of such an emergency. After all, with the tendency of people to panic in such situations one can never be too careful. This is what fire safety signs are for. While buying and posting these signs all over the building is easy and convenient enough, here are a few tips for maximizing them:

1. They have to stand out and be easily seen

This means posting the signs in the normal field of vision.fire hose reelfire hose reelsfire hosefire safety

How To Motivate The Late, The Lazy And The Terminally Uninspired Posted By: Ann Andrews

I work with teams and have done for the past 20+ years, and over those years, I have developed my two most favourite questions:

Of managers, Would you like to be free of having to deal with fire-fighting/ crisis managing, and employees asking stupid questions for one whole day every week? And I see the look of absolute desire on their faces.

Of employees 'How many of you get up on a cold wet, winter morning; think of work and leap out of bed shouting 'yes? And everyone falls off their chair, gripping their sides laughing themselves silly for the next 10 minutes.

So how did the workplace get itself into such a mess in the first place?

I believe our work habits are left-overs from the Industrial Age. In those days most employees were illiterate so managers had to tell them what to do and when to do it, and so to ensure speed of production, we created a parent/child way of dealing with each other; manager acting as 'parent' and employees acting and reacting in 'child'.

We are now in the Information Age; most employees in our workplaces are reasonably well educated; some are very well educated.Teamleadermanagerhuman resourcesmotivationcareer developmentworkersstaffmentor

Thick Rug Pads: The Best Thick Rug Pad Posted By: lucsta

Thick rug pads can be spongy or dense. Traditional wall to wall carpeting can use more of a spongy carpet pad where area rugs require more of a dense thick rug pad.

The best way to choose your thick rug pad for your area rug is to look for a few things. First, make sure the material of the thick rug pad is a recycled jute. This is important because this material does not smell, is mold and mildew resistant, is fire retardant and does not breakdown or shed. There are jute rug pads on the market that are described as synthetic jute. Try to avoid this type of thick rug pad as it usually contains latex and/or polypropylene, which is another form of plastic. This may prove to possess an odor and can harm your floor in the long run.

Once you find a quality recycled thick jute rug pad, now look at the density, or weight. Jute rug pads come in 20, 28, 32 and 40 ounce weights. The higher the weight, the more dense and thick the rug pad and the better the rug pad is.thick rug padbest thick padjute rug pad
