How Can An Erb' Posted By: Frank Torres

If your child has difficulty moving his hand or shoulder, experiences weakness and lack of sensation in his upper extremities, or has a deformity of the arm, where one is shorter than the other, you may wonder why? The reply to your inquiry may be found by going back to the time of labor and delivery of your child, especially if the birthing process was a difficult one. Consulting with an Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy lawyer can shed light on what could cause your child to have a shoulder injury and the answer may be Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy.

1. How is Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy caused?

Your child AND rsquo;s primary doctor or specialist, by reviewing all the pertinent records, examining the child and taking diagnostic (MRI, x-ray) tests can properly diagnose your child. Majority of Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy cases are caused by trauma during birth. Once the head of the baby appears the rest of the body cannot pass through the birth canal, usually due to baby AND rsquo;s size and the resultant efforts by physician to free him through use of sheer force of the pull leads to a should injury known as Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy.

2. Does the doctor AND rsquo;personal injury lawyer personal injury attorneys

Can Erb' Posted By: Frank Martyn

Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy, also known as Brachial Palsy, usually takes place during a difficult labor and delivery, and is caused by trauma to the infant AND rsquo;s shoulder. Since the condition is preventable, many parents do not find out about it from their physicians since admitting to the mistake may make them liable for medical malpractice. An Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy attorney can review the pertinent medical and hospital records and let you know if you and your child may be entitled to damages. Here are some important points to consider:

a. Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy takes place during problematic labor and delivery

Your physician has the ability to estimate the baby AND rsquo;s size from several sources. He can take a sonogram to measure the weight, review mother AND rsquo;s prior history of delivering large babies and account for the woman AND rsquo;s significant weight gain during pregnancy. Since Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy takes place when the baby AND rsquo;s shoulder becomes stuck during the delivery, often due to baby AND rsquo;s large size, deciding to do a C-section is often the way to avoid Brachial Palsy.long island attorneys personal injury lawyer Erb's palsy

Questions To Ask An Erb' Posted By: Frank Torres

Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy is a trauma to the shoulder suffered by the newborn baby during birth. Since the condition is often preventable, the families of children with Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy are advised to contact an Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy lawyer to protect their rights of recovery. Here are some questions to ask your lawyer during your meeting:

1. How do I know if my child has Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy?

Your child AND rsquo;s pediatrician or orthopedist is in the best position to examine the child and observe any of the symptoms that might be associated with Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy. Symptoms include but are not limited to paralysis of shoulder, lack of control in the shoulder, inability to feel sensation in the shoulder, limited fine motor skills and in severe cases, even stunted growth of the arm or hand. Diagnostic tests such as x-rays or MRIs can be performed to see if there a fracture, dislocation or tear of the shoulder. Finally, the doctors can review the history of child AND rsquo;personal injury lawyer personal injury attorneys

When To Consult With An Erb' Posted By: Frank Torres

Your child is now a toddler and has difficulty holding objects in his hands and complains of constant numbness in his shoulder. You had a difficult labor and delivery, but the baby was born healthy and no one mentioned any problems. Only now, when you see your child struggling with fine motor skills you recall the frantic attempts of the physician to pull the baby out of you, tugging on his head. Could the doctor AND rsquo;s actions have caused an injury to your child? Contacting an Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy attorney for a consultation may provide you with some answers and give your important information to consider, such as:

a. Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy is caused by trauma during the delivery

Erb AND rsquo;s Palsy is a condition also known as Brachial Palsy and involves the baby AND rsquo;s shoulders. If your child has been diagnosed with this condition, you have the right to know what happened and how the injury could have been caused. During the birthing process, even though the head of the newborn may have appeared, the rest of the body gets trapped and is unable to come out. Usually part of the baby AND rsquo;s shoulder becomes stuck under the mother AND rsquo;personal injury lawyer personal injury attorneys

Undiagnosed Fetal Distress Leads To Baby' Posted By: Joseph Hernandez

While cared for by a doctor or a nurse patients normally believe that the physician or nurse either (1) has the skills and experience to make a proper diagnosis of anything that they may have and order the appropriate treatment or (2) is under the supervision of a more experienced doctor or nurse who does. According to the second sitatuon, the doctor or nurse can gain experience while treating actual patients as long as their errors are noticed and rectified so that patients are not harmed. After all, they attend school, study, and spend many, many hours learning useful knowledge by real experience. But until they attain an appropriate degree of experience they will probably make mistakes. And going back to expectations people want to be sure that any such mistake will not injure them.

The learning curve is steep however it does exist. While in the training period these new physicians and nurses will inevitably make errors. Although many mistakes will have minor, if any, repercussions some will cause severe harm or possibly in the death of a patient. That is why they need supervision by more senior physicians and nurses who can note and rectify the errors.fetal distress erbs palsy

Holdup On The Part Of Doctor And Nurse Leads To Infant's Brain Damage Posted By: Joseph Hernandez

Any of numerous problems can severely restrict the amount of oxygen reaching an unborn baby When this occurs the baby is said to be in fetal distress. In the event that the baby loses necessary oxygen for an extended time frame the baby can die or suffer lifelong impairment such as brain damage, cerebral palsy, blindness, and seizure disorders. After an expectant mother is admitted for labor and delivery doctors and nurses are expected to carefully follow her and her unborn baby and they are supposed to possess enough knowledge, training and experience necessary to detect and react to signs of fetal distress.

The following case illustrates what can happen.

A pregnant woman was admitted to the hospital for labor and delivery. The doctor had not yet arrived at the hospital and therefore she was given an examination by a nurse who detected both the presence of meconium in the amniotic fluid as well as abnormal readings from the fetal heart rate monitor. The heart rate tracings suggested that the unborn baby was in fetal distress. The nurse advised the physician. Having received the information the physician still chose to hold off going to the hospital.fetal distress erb's palsy

Check With A Birth Injury Attorney If Your Baby Suffered A Gbs Injury From Gbs Meningitis Posted By: Joseph Hernandez

Group B Strep is the most common cause of sepsis and meningitis (a dangerous illness of the fluid of the spinal cord and the fluid surrounding the brain) in newborns. As a bacterial infection, group b strep can attack an infant if it is passed to the child from the mother when the child is born

The bacteria generally grows in the vagina and/or the lower intestine. It is found in about 1 out of every 4 adult women. However, it does not normally bring about an active infection or induce symptoms. Transmission from expecting mother to the baby typically occurs during labor and delivery. The child might come in contact with GBS, for example, if the bacteria travels up from the mother's vagina into the uterus after the membranes (bag of water) break. The infant may likewise be exposed to GBS when passing down through the birth canal. During this time period, the child can swallow or breathe in the bacteria.

Approximately 75% of instances of GBS in newborns take place in the first week of life, and most appear inside of a number of hours after birth. This is known as "early onset" disease.placental abruption erbs palsy

Woman Sues Paramedics Whose Actions Were Responsible For Loss Of Her Baby Posted By: Joseph Hernandez

Paramedics, who are generally the first to arrive on the scene of a medical emergency need to administer treatment that meets the applicable standard of care. As the first on the scene we depend on paramedics to have the knowledge, training, and experience to differentiate between conditions that can be treated at the scene from those that require urgent transport to a hospital with the essential equipment and full medical staff. In what follows we examine a case in which paramedics answered a call from a woman who had experienced a placental abruption at nearly full term of her pregnancy. The paramedics did not appreciate the signs shown by the expectant mother, like the fact that she was in shock from blood loss, and did not take her at once to a hospital. In the time that lapsed the unborn baby's oxygen supply was cut off as a result of the placental abruption.

The total of the time it took the paramedics before they made the decision to take the expecting mother to the hospital where the baby was delivered was at least eighteen minutes.erbs palsy group b streptococcus

Nurse Keeps Waiting For Doctor To Show Up While Baby In Fetal Distress Posted By: Joseph Hernandez

As fetal distress is a dangerous problem in pregnancy that frequently entails a diminished oxygen supply to the unborn infant. Thus, if fetal distress is noted action should be taken right away to circumvent injury to the child. Below we consider the issue of liability in a published lawsuit involving a delay of approximately two hours in reacting to signs of fetal distress. We also consider the resulting damages and the amount of the settlement.

An obstetrician is told that his patient, an expectant mother, was transported to a close by hospital subsequent to having taken a fall. An ultrasound was performed and showed no injury to the baby. The woman continuted to be worried that something was not right and requested additional monitoring. Because the hospital did not have a fetal heart rate monitor she was going to be taken to a second hospital, her obstetrician was notified that she was being transferred and the doctor agreed to go to the second hospital. When at the second hospital a fetal heart rate monitor was connected to the expectant mother. The nurse at this hospital read the strip as non-reassuring and showing that the unborn baby was experiencing fetal distress.group b streptococcus erbs palsy
