What Is An Obelisk And What Is Its Purpose? Posted By: hassan.sh

Obelisk Definition: An obelisk is a monumental tapering column carved from a single block of stone (a monolith), with a square (or rectangular) cross-section and capped with a pointed top called a pyramidion. The word Obelisk is derived from the Greek word obeliskos meaning "needle". Obelisks were set in pairs, at the entrances of temples, and to some Old Kingdom tombs and closely related to the cult of the Sun God Ra also known as Atum. Obelisks symbolized the stability and the creative force of Atum. Obelisks were believed to act as magical protection to the monuments such as temples and tombs.

Egyptian Obelisk Legends

The Ancient Egyptian Obelisk legends are founded in the creation myth, or Cosmogony, to explain how some of the Gods and Goddesses came into being. The Sun God Ra (as Atum) was one of the Ennead, the collective name given to the nine original deities (Gods and Goddesses) of the cosmogony of Heliopolis (the birthplace of the Gods) in the creation myths and legends.
The creation legend relates to the Sun God Ra (as Atum) who rose in the beginning from the primeval ocean called Nun to the first, conical-shaped, mound of earth.Egyptian Obelisk Egyptian Obelisk pryramid

What You Know The Great Pyramid Of Khufu ? Posted By: hassan.sh

The pyramid of khufu or cheops is the oldest and the largest of the three pyramids. When first built it stood approximately 146m high .During the course of 46 centuries it lost 9m , it now stands at 137m , it is weight is estimated at six million tons . The building of the pyramid began in 2570 BC and was completed in 2589 BC. The dates and measurement of the pyramids vary with every source of information, but let is face it, what difference does a few years or meters makes? The pyramids are still standing after all those centuries and that is awesome enough as it is. Before you entering the great pyramid a word of warning, for those who have even a touch of claustrophobia ( fear of tight ,close place ) stay a way .
Some of corridors are so low one has to walk bent in tow, they are also very narrow, barely able to accommodate the flow of people going up meeting that of those coming down ,As you will find out ,if you keep reading this article , there is a lot more to see on the site .the egyptian god ra egyptian gods egyptian pyramid

Egyptian Cotton Or Bamboo Bedding Posted By: linda aviles

It is a known fact that the bedding we have on our beds will determine how well we sleep at night. Low quality bedding will have you twisting and turning all throughout the night. It is usually very thin, hard and very uncomfortable to sleep in. Low quality bedding will also leave you feeling tired and cranky all day. High quality bedding on the other hand, will have you sleeping like a baby and waking up energized and ready to take on the world. When it comes to quality and comfort, Egyptian Cotton and Bamboo sheets have always been top choices. But what is it that makes these two different types of fabrics unique?

Egyptian Cotton

* Considered to be the "King of all Cotton" due to its luxurious feel and durability.

* Breathable fabric.

* Helps absorb water from the body.

* Resists piling. Piling is the formation of the little balls of fabric due to wear.

* Ability to create extra long stables or fibers. Extra long fibers create thinner threads which result in higher thread counts.

* Becomes softer with each wash.

Bamboo

* Anti-bacterial. Naturally resistant to bacteria.bamboo duvet covers bamboo duvet bamboo duvet cover bamboo bedding egy

Beer - A Brief History Posted By: Michael Kyle

Who doesn't love an ice cold beer on a sunny day or after a hard days work? Many of us do but what is it that makes beer so great? Well, we could spend years talking about the virtues of beer and trying to categorize them all, but instead why not focus on the conception of beer and learn its quenching history!

Beer is possibly the oldest and most popular alcoholic beverage on the planet today. Records of beer can be traced back to 5000 BC in the ancient writings of the Egyptians and Mesopotamians.

It's basic mix of carbohydrates and water made it a simple beverage to create and became a staple, along with bread, in the diet of medieval times. It was sometimes a thick and floral concoction with often poisonous flavorings that was a far cry from what we now drink today.

During the middle ages, brewing beer shifted from homemakers and became more a tool of the artisan. Pubs, Monasteries and Monks in particular, began brewing beer for the masses. Hops were added to induce some bitterness to the sweet brew making it more identifiable to your palate today.beer history meopotamia carbohydrates water monks pubs monsasteries brewing new world bavaria
