Simple Rules On Feeding A Puppy Posted By: Timothy Capper

The first few full weeks of a pup taking in solid food will be important for their growth and development, both mentally and physically, making it important for dog owners to recognize proper nutrition for their canine companion, as well as correct amounts and the best diet obtainable

Understanding Food Motivation in Dogs:

Before choosing any type of kibble or canned food for a puppy, it's important to remember that dogs are highly food motivated. Their wild ancestors and relatives are often forced to endure days or weeks without much to eat, and the trait of eating as much as possible at any given time is still apparent in most modern dog breeds.

This makes it easy to overfeed a puppy. Most puppies will eat as much as you will give them as many times as you offer food until they gorge themselves sick. On the flip side, food can be a great training tool if used correctly. Keeping this food motivation in mind, you can begin to assess the best feeding routine, diet and schedule for your dog to ensure they do not eat too much, but are getting enough for their specific needs and energy level.puppy food puppy nutrition

Thanks to actor George Clooney, everyone is now aware that pigs make good pets. AND nbsp; They can be trained to do tricks in a relatively short period of time and will remember how to do them throughout their lives. AND nbsp;In some ways, they are supposed to be even smarter than the average domestic dog and are ranked fourth in intelligence after dolphins and whales. If you are considering keeping pigs as pets, make sure you learn how to care for pigs properly. Of course, the right name is also a must. Here are some suggestions for names for pigs.

There are several pigs that have become popular in children's literature, and their names are popular names for pigs. First, there's Babe, the piglet who learned how to herd sheep. Then, there's Wilbur, the pig who was befriended by Charlotte the spider in Charlotte's Web.
The Differences Between Liquid And Tablet Forms Of Glucosamine For Treating Dog Arthritis Posted By: Steve Weber

One of the most common diseases older dogs usually contract in their later years of life is canine arthritis. Different breeds suffer to various degrees of this dreaded joint disease. Usually, larger breed dogs suffer more from the condition then do smaller breed dogs because their extra weight adds more stress and strain on their diseased joints.

Pet owners who first noticed possible symptoms of dog osteoarthritis should immediately take their pet to a veterinarian for a complete and full diagnosis to find out whether or not the disease is present in their animal.

If the doctor does in fact diagnose that the disease called dog arthritis is present in the animal, he or she will indicate various options to the pet owner for treatments. In the past, there were many prescription medications that were often suggested for treating the disease. However, it has come to be known that many of these prescribed medicines also cause significant and severe side effects. Many of them, in fact, even caused the death of some animals.

If your veterinarian suggests using prescription medications to treat canine joint disease, always ask him what the possible side effects are and what to watch out for.liquid glucosamine dogs arthritis canine arthritis dog arthritis dog joint pain glucosamine sulfate chondroitin osteoarthritis joint disease

Animal Dental Care Posted By: johfprgulo

Did you know that good dental care can add years to the life of your pet? 80% of dogs, cats and ferrets have some form of dental disease by the age of 3. Since there are many health problems associated with dental disease, it is in everyone's best interest to practice good dental preventative care. It can take just minutes to prolong the quality and length of your pet's life.

The most common problem associated with dental disease is pain from gum and tooth root infections which contribute to bad breath and tooth loss. You may only notice bad breath but dental disease in not something that happens over night. Since it can be a gradual process your pet may actually be used to the tooth pain and discomfort from dental disease. One of the most common comments after a pet with severe dental disease has a dental cleaning is that their pet has wonderful breath and seems so much more comfortable and happy!

With dental disease bacteria from the mouth enters the bloodstream and causes havoc with internal organ systems. The bacteria lands on heart valves and causes heart failure.animal hospital veterinarian veterinary services dog doctor cat doctor pet doctor bend or oregon emergency veterinary hospital veterinary ce

Key Details To Consider In Regards To The Brussels Griffon Posted By: Brent McCoy

The Brussels Griffon (also called the "Belgian Griffon") is a toy breed that is often said to resemble a monkey, an elf or an Ewok from Star Wars and features wide set eyes, a flat face, a prominent chin as well as a rough or smooth coat in colors such as red, beige, black and tan or pure black. The breed has origins dating back to the early 1800s in Belgium, and was originally raised for the key reason of hunting small vermin.<

A number of their more identifiable qualities are seen by many as their tendency to bark at almost anything as well as their high sense of self-importance - which assist in making the Brussels Griffon a suitable preference for less active owners with plenty of time to care for and train a sensitive companion dog.

The Brussels Griffon is known to have come from the city of Brussels in Belgium during the early 1800s and was initially bred for the purpose of catching small vermin but later became popular with coach drivers who used them as a guard dog to deter robbers and attract customers.Brussels Griffon facts Brussels Griffon information Brussels Griffon info

The Never Ending Pet Debate Posted By: Art Gib

People have argued for years over which pet was the better choice between dogs or cats. There really is a simple way to find out. What type of animal is considered to be man's best friend? The dog, of course! My husband has always preferred cats to dogs, but I would rather have a dog for a pet. I am very allergic to cats and my husband is mildly allergic to dogs so I never thought that we would ever own either as a pet, but things began to change for my husband last year.

My brother asked if we would puppy sit for him while he and his family went on a vacation. I was reluctant at first because we were just adjusting to a new house and I didn't want to ruin it with puppy accidents and smells. Their dog was a Maltipoo, half Maltese and half Poodle, and he was active and cuddly. To my surprise, my husband really grew to enjoy having the extra pet in the house. He even commented that if we decided to get a family dog eventually, then he would prefer a larger dog. That was a start I guess.Cavachon puppies for sale

Osteoarthritis Is A Common Disease In Dogs Posted By: Steve Weber

There are various types of arthritis your dog may develop. The most common kind is osteoarthritis and this affects one in five dogs at some point in their lifetime. This disease is not confined to older dogs. Young dogs may suffer with hip dysplasia, joint trauma, patella luxation or ruptured ligaments. In some cases it is possible for your dog to have surgery, especially if he is young. It is vital that you take your pet to the veterinarian for a proper diagnosis as soon as you notice any change of behavior, i.e. limping, lameness or reluctance to rise from a laying position.

Although our pets cannot communicate verbally, you will be able to tell easily enough when there is a problem. Check his paws to make sure there is no foreign object stuck in there. Your veterinarian will want to take X-rays and run tests, followed by a course of treatment. Although this disease is old there is no cure for it yet. Unfortunately, osteoarthritis is a progressive condition, but there are many ways in which we can reduce the symptoms and maintain quality of life for our dogs with arthritis.liquid glucosamine dogs arthritis canine arthritis dog arthritis dog joint pain glucosamine sulfate chondroitin osteoarthritis joint disease

Basic Details To Understand Regarding The Bearded Collie Posted By: Brent McCoy

The Bearded Collie (nicknamed the "Beardie" or "Bouncing Beardie" and also called the "Highland Collie" or "Mountain Collie") is a Scottish herding breed that features a distinctive shaggy coat which is usually black, brown, blue or fawn with white markings. The breed came into existence during the early 1500s, and they were first used for the key objective of herding sheep.

A small number of their more recognizable features are seen as their extremely high level of energy that results in a characteristic "bounce" as well as their playful and devoted nature - which assist in making the Bearded Collie a suitable dog breed for owners or families looking for a dog to include in just about every activity they do.

The Bearded Collie first came to be in Scotland where they were bred for the function of tirelessly herding sheep. They are said to have descended from Polish Lowland Sheepdogs that arrived in Scotland as items of trade during the early 1500s which were bred with local British herding breeds such as the Komondor.

Bearded Collies are classified as a medium-sized breed of dog.Bearded Collie facts Bearded Collie information Bearded Collie info

Wet And Dry Varieties Offer A Well-balanced Dog Diet Posted By: debra morgan

You'll ensure your dog's good health if you stick to premium brands like Royal Canin Sensitivity Control. Dog food contains processed meats, vegetables, and grains, so you can also pick out ingredients at groceries and prepare a home-cooked meal for your dog. Nothing beats the formulations of proper dog food, though. Since it also comes in pre-portioned servings, all you have to do is dump or pour out the contents onto the feeding bowl. There's also a lengthy list of edible 'human' foods which mess with a dog's digestion and even compromise his health. Mind your meal's ingredients the next time you're tempted to scrape off your leftovers into your dog's feeding bowl. If you'd rather play it safe, then his diet should only involve formulated dog food and treats. Don't be overwhelmed by the dog food brands and varieties. Premium brands are your first options because these offer high-quality ingredients. You could still nitpick at the ingredient lists, especially if you're looking for formulations ideal to your dog's age and breed.

Your dog will require several dietary adjustments as he gets older. Weaning him off his current diet also takes time;artemis dog food australia royal canin sensitivity control hills science diet australia holistic select

Why Shifting Dog Food Is Needed And How It's Done Posted By: debra morgan

Dogs have almost the same nutritional requirements as human beings; indeed, the right nutrition is needed to stay healthy and strong. If your dog has been with you from the very beginning, you will soon realize that his Advance puppy food will not give it the adequate nutrients that it needs forever. Nutritional requirements definitely change when a dog grows from a puppy to a full-grown dog.

Consulting with your veterinarian regularly will help you know when it is time to change dog food. Regular check-ups with the vet will include regular assessments of his growth. Based on the assessment, your trusted vet can give you a more accurate idea of the growth trends of your dog. This specialist can also warn you of any nutritional issues that need to be tackled. If your dog is obese, then you will have to limit his food portions. If your dog is underweight, then he may have to be provided with the right variety of Advance pet food. The vet is also the best person to point out to you any metabolic condition your dog may be suffering from. Your vet can issue some tests to determine the problem.advance pet food advance puppy food

Essential Information To Consider In Relation To The Schnauzer Posted By: Brent McCoy

The Schnauzer is a German working breed of dog that is highly popular within Europe and features a distinctive beard and eyebrows with a wiry salt and pepper or pure black coat. The breed came into existence during the Middle Ages, and they were originally raised for the chief intention of herding, catching rats and acting as a guard dog.

Several of their more identifiable traits are seen as their bold and lively nature as well as their high level of intelligence - which assist in making the Schnauzer a popular choice for historic use as a guard dog for Red Cross during World War I, police work in Germany and America, drug and bomb detection, search and rescue or as a companion dog to active and confident owners.

The Schnauzer is known to have come from Germany as early as the Middle Ages where they were used as a guard dog, for catching rats or herding but later gained popularity on the dog show circuit during the late 1800s and were finally given their official name after a winning dog called "Schnauzer".Schnauzer facts Schnauzer information Schnauzer info

Canine Arthritis Information For Pet Owners Posted By: Steve Weber

Osteoarthritis is a disease of degenerative joints. In time, most of us and our elderly dogs will suffer from wear and tear of cartilage, protecting the bone. There is no known cure, yet, but there are ways to help your pet and relieve pain. This progressive disease affects joints of the spine, hip, elbow and knee.

If your dog undergoes strenuous exercise or constant jumping, it is likely to suffer tearing of ligaments, especially after a fall or accident. Deterioration happens to the cartilage protecting the bone ends and they will then become rough and later crack instead of being smooth. As the disease progresses, exposed bone remodels itself and develops spurs.

The cartilage will then fray exposing bone. This is what causes the pain. Cartilage cannot repair itself. Liquid glucosamine is a natural supplement which, when taken daily helps rebuild the tissue. It is not a quick fix but may be preferable to prescribed medication which has many side effects, and in some cases is lethal. Ask your veterinarian about this.liquid glucosamine dogs arthritis canine arthritis dog arthritis dog joint pain glucosamine sulfate chondroitin osteoarthritis joint disease

Dog obedience training is absolutely essential in order to have a well-behaved pet. The training could range from the basic skills training to advance training such as guiding the owner to safety, taking care of little children and more. There are a number of competitions that are organized by the various kennel clubs to test the obedience level in dogs. These are events where the pets score points for following commands accurately. The judges will rate their overall performance and award prizes. These are events that are hugely popular amongst pet owners, trainers and handlers who generally have a great time while training these dogs.

Training requires a lot of patience and perseverance. The basic dog obedience training may take anywhere between 6 to 10 weeks. The training process should be made enjoyable for the dog as well. Dogs require a lot of love and care. There are times when dogs may not respond to the commands right away.
Important Information To Consider Relating To The Cocker Spaniel Posted By: Brent McCoy

The Cocker Spaniel is a true sporting breed of dog that is often divided into two categories with very small differences - the American Cocker Spaniel and English Cocker Spaniel. Each features long, wavy-haired ears with a cost that comes in a variety of solid and multi-color combinations including white with black, red or brown markings, black, liver, red, golden and tan. The primary differences between them are that the American Cocker Spaniel is smaller with a shorter muzzle, domed head and shorter back while the English Cocker Spaniel is larger with a slightly narrower head and chest.

A few of their more distinct qualities include cheerful and affectionate temperament as well as their love for being part of the family - which help make the Cocker Spaniel one of the most popular breeds around the world as a companion dog for active families.

The English Cocker Spaniel is believed to have descended from the original spaniels of Spain as early as the 1300s, whereas the American Cocker Spaniel was created after the English Cocker Spaniel was brought to the United States in the 1800s and cross-bred with smaller local dogs.Cocker Spaniel facts Cocker Spaniel information Cocker Spaniel info
