Treatment Of Fungal Toenail: Fact Or Fiction? Posted By: Paul Yungst

Onychomycosis is a fungal infection of the toenails or fingernails. The actual infection is of the bed of the nail and of the plate under the surface of the nail, resulting in thickening and discoloration of the nail plate along with damage to the underlying nail bed.

Onychomycosis is the most common of all diseases of the nails. It's estimated that in North America, the incidence is as high as 13% and that over 25 million Americans suffer from fungal toenails. The incidence of Onychomycosis is also greater in older adults, and up to 90% of the elderly may be affected. This infection is more common in men than women.

Those with chronic diseases such as diabetes and circulatory problems, and those with disorders that suppress the immune system are especially susceptible. Additional risk factors include trauma to the nails, family history, a warm climate and tight shoes.

Causes

Onychomycosis is caused by three types of fungi: dermatophytes, yeasts and nondermatophyte molds. Fungi are simple parasitic plant organisms that do not need sunlight to grow. Toenails are especially susceptible because fungi prefer dark damp places. Swimming pools, locker rooms, and showers typically harbor fungi.Onychomycosis fungal toenail toenail fungus laser therapy fungus antifungal laser therapy

Take The Time To Reap The Benefits Of Female Strength Training Posted By: Chris Harmen

When it comes to making and sticking to workout routines, schedules often have to be creatively arranged to make sure you get an effective workout. In today's busy world, it can be hard to find time to devote to strength training programs. Many women focus on finding time to fit in a cardiovascular workout rather than undergo female strength training.

It's true that the benefits of aerobic exercise are numerous and have wide-ranging beneficial effects on the body and mind. But if you can spare some minutes during the day just a few times each week to also undergo some strength training, your body will thank you even more.

Myths of Strength Training Programs

Many women believe that if they go work on strength training, they'll develop big, bulky muscles and appear less feminine. But this isn't the case. Very few women have enough natural testosterone or the larger, stronger fast-twitch muscle fibers that men possess to develop large muscles. In reality, women will simply develop firmer muscles for a trimmer physique and better overall strength.female strength training strength training programs workout routines schedules

Am I A Good Candidate For Liposuction? Posted By: Christian Heftel

So, you've seen the ads, and you're interested. This liposuction thing sounds pretty good. You have a little bit of weight you'd like to lose, and you think that getting it removed surgically sounds great. The only question is, are you a good candidate for the surgery?

You certainly aren't alone in being interested in liposuction (which is also referred to as lipoplasty and suction lipectomy). Hundreds of thousands of Americans from Beverly Hills to New York undergo the surgery every year.

A number of things help to determine whether or not someone is a good candidate for lipoplasty. The first is general health. The best patients are in relatively good health. They are free from conditions or habits that would interfere with their healing. Some examples of conditions that can interfere with a person's ability to undergo the surgery include diabetes, heart and lung conditions, and serious chronic diseases. Habits that increase lipoplasty risks include smoking.

Second, the ideal patient is fairly close to their target weight. A lipoplasty is not well-suited to removing large volumes of fat.liposuction

What Do I Need To Consider When Bringing My Mom Or Dad From The Nursing Home This Holiday? Posted By: Mark Etinger

It's that time of year again! If your parents, your mom or your dad want to spend time with you and your family during the holidays and they are living in an assisted living facility or nursing home, there are a few things you will want to be aware of in order to pull this off and allow them (and you) to have a pleasant time! If you prepare beforehand, then you shouldn't run into any major problems. First off, if one of your parents is a diabetic, they are probably looking forward to a nice yummy home cooked meal.

The problem with this is that he or she might not be able to eat the same foods that you are serving - so make sure you plan a meal that they can participate in eating as well. Also, make sure you have just enough diabetes test strips so you can keep things under control.nursing home supplies medical supplies nursing home supply

A Look At The Health Benefits Of Cod Liver Oil Posted By: Mark Walters

Cod liver oil is a popular supplement which has been used by families across the generations as a way to improve their health. Boosting the immune system, improving blood circulation, and reducing depression being just some of the benefits those who take cod liver oil supplements enjoy. The reason it is so healthy is because it is rich in four sources of essential nutrients, which are the omega 3s DHA and EPA, vitamin A and vitamin D.

Omega 3 DHA - This fatty acid is needed by the body to keep the nervous system in good working order. It is also crucial for the development of healthy skin and hair and promotes strong bones and teeth. Studies have additionally shown that DHA can help alleviate symptoms of depression, and prevent the occurrence of it as well.

Omega 3 EPA - The main benefits of this fatty acid are that it improves the body's cardiovascular system and reduces inflammation. A secondary benefit is the slowing of the onset of arthritis. Elderly people especially need this fatty acid as part of their dietary intake, though it is still recommended for younger people too.cod liver oil health supplements supplements vitamins detox diet alternative health health

What Is Chlorella? An Amazing Health Restoring Superfood Posted By: Philip de Fontenay

You might be wondering what is chlorella, and why should you include it in your diet. Well, chlorella, also known as chlorella pyrenoidosa, is a form of green algae that is highly nutritious. It has numerous health benefits.

It is a microscopic, single celled plant that can't be seen with the naked eye. However, it multiplies quickly, splitting into 4 cells every 24 hours or so. It is very easy to grow in controlled conditions for use in supplements. Many people use this chlorella superfood in order to combat various health problems or better yet, prevent health problems.

Just why is chlorella so good for you? Well, chlorella ingredients include all sorts of vitamins and minerals, including beta carotene, riboflavin, thiamin, iron, niacin, vitamin C, vitamin B6, calcium, zinc, copper, iodine, magnesium, vitamin K, and vitamin E. This green food also contains over 60% protein, large quantities of RNA and DNA as well as the highest level of chlorophyll of any other plant.

There is also an extract from the nucleus called CGF, or chlorella growth factor. It is understood as the reason for a number of the health benefits some people have experienced since they began taking chlorella.what is chlorella chlorella chlorella benfits chlorella pyrenoidosa

Using Organic Astragalus Posted By: Anne Harvester

Organic astragalus has gone by many names in its history, including milkvetch and loco weed. Botanically, the plant is classified as a legume, placing it with the same family as peas, beans and alfalfa; unlike its relatives however, it bears no pods.

Organic astralagus herb is known as huang-qi in its native region of northeastern China, Mongolia and Korea, where a great deal of bulk organic astralagus is obtained. A perennial, the astralagus plant grows to a height of three feet. The part of the plant that is used for herbal therapy is actually the root, which is harvested during the fourth year of growth.

Practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consider organic astralagus root to be "yang" in nature; these physicians use it to treat conditions that include poor appetite and lassitude as well as some conditions of the stomach and (in women) the uterus.

TCM practitioners dry bulk organic astralagus root and boil it in combination with ginseng. The resulting liquid is then strained and the decoction is administered to patients orally.

Organic astralagus root is also believed to have adaptogenic properties by strengthening the immune system and may actually lower blood pressure.organic astragalus Organic Astragalus Root organic astragalus herb bulk organic astragalus

Healthy Diet: 4 Very Important Reasons To Make It A Top Priority Posted By: Chris Strogilis

You can find hereunter 4 very important reasons why healthy food choices need our full attention:

1. First of all our bodies need all the necessary macronutrients and micronutrients in order to keep functioning well.

It is unbelievable how many major problems can cause the lack of even one micronutrient!
Now,imagine if you had a generalised problem!

We need a strong immune system and we compromise it every time we make lousy food choices .
Every time we opt for junk food ,we deprive our bodies from live-giving nutrients and in parallel we give ground to every kind of microbes and viruses.

2. Second, a healthy diet can help us fight the obesity curse which sweeps across all the developed, western countries.
We know perfectly well that the obesity flood has a strong correlation with the increased intake of processed carbs ,mainly table sugar and white flour.
These foods create havoc with our sugar and insulin levels and lay the ground for excessive cases of obesity.

On the other hand a healthy diet is almost impossible to lead to obesity since processed carbs intake is normally minimized.

3. A healthy diet is very crucial for our vitality and energy levels.healthy diet healthy food choices lousy food choices

Pet Obesity - A Call To Action Posted By: Tristan Andrews

If your pet is overweight you might be very concerned. The sad fact is that almost a quarter of our pets are actually overweight. It's important to understand why this is happening. Some think it correlates with the electronic age and the lack of time we all have for our pets.

People tend to take a lot of shortcuts these days. There are remote controls, microwaves, dishwashers and computers that are all meant to make our lives easier. These things that are meant to make our lives easier and leave more time for things like walking the dog often do not. Unfortunately, there is no time.

Sure, our tasks can be completed quickly. Even so, people are finding other things to fill their time with. People spend hours on the Internet or in front of the TV screen instead of getting outside and walking the dog.

It is a sad shame that people can't find pleasure in the simple things anymore. Our pets are suffering, which is probably a direct cause of our own sedentary lifestyles. People are even moving into more urban areas with less room for dogs to run around.dog dogs canine puppies dog training dog web hosting dog behavior

The Most Effective Natural Cure On Earth Posted By: Mr.Bill

I thought I would start out today by posing a question:

What is the most effective natural cure on earth?

Could it be broccoli? Or perhaps spinach?

A good number of people would say it's green tea.

Practitioners of Chinese Medicine might refer you to the Cordyceps mushroom, or Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract.

Holistic medicine practitioners might say it's a berry, or a combination of berries of different colors.

All of those things are good for you, but they are not the most natural cure on earth.
The most natural cure on earth is: FAT!

Dr. Jonny Bowden, author of "The Most Effective Natural Cures On Earth" says:
"If there was one supplement I could mandate for the entire population of the world, it would unquestionably be omega-3's. Fish oil has been shown in research to reduce blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels, the two most important risk factors for heart disease."

Even the ultra-conservative and way behind the times American Heart Association recommends 2-4 grams of omega-3 fats per day.

Fatty acids and omega-3's have been shown to reduce inflammation, (which is the root cause of many diseases), including Alzheimer's and diabetes.Health diet fitness nutrition exercise vitamins supple

Just because you keep a very busy work schedule, that does not give you an excuse not to eat well and exercise everyday. Staying healthy and fit all the time should always be in your agenda. Always remember that if you are sick or if you energy levels are low, you will not function well at work.

If you invest in a home fitness machine, you can already do some exercises at home when you wake up in the morning or when you get home from work in the evening.

Things to Consider before Getting Your Home Fitness Machine

Before you get some home fitness machines and set up your own home fitness gym, you need to ask a fitness instructor to create a program for you. No, it is not a good idea to just buy any home fitness machine. Forget about those advertisements that see on TV about certain types of home fitness machines.Exercise fitness Fitness Equipment Health sport

Strategies To Group Health Insurance Posted By: Sharma

Offering a well-conceived, reliable and patient-friendly health plan is essential both for attracting clients and retaining good healthcare professionals. Employers should also know that good healthcare benefits provided to employees will keep them healthy, increases productivity and less staff turnover.

Many small businesses however do not understand the need to offer good group insurance policy to their staff. According to the nonprofit Kaiser Family Foundation, only 59 percent of small businesses with less than 200 employees provided group health insurance. As health care costs escalate, small business owners are finding it increasingly difficult to afford the premium amounts. Moreover, insurance companies apply higher rates to small businesses when compared to larger companies.

While serious efforts are being made for universal health care or at least some kind of major healthcare reforms, it is necessary for both health insurance companies and insurance seekers to do their bit to realize this laudable goal.

Health insurance policies provide all types of schemes and plans. But the two broad categories of insurance are individual and group.

Individual health plans are meant for individuals and their family members. These policies generally require a detailed medical history to know of any preexisting conditions.blue shield individual plans

Diet And Nutrition Posted By: harry jackson

The third element in constructing healthy food plans is to balance each of your meals with their proper amounts of unsaturated fat, carbohydrates, and protein. Consuming too little or too much of these important nutrients can both be bad so it is heavily important to keep just the right amount for your meals.Complex carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, are the three macronutrients that gives energy for our body's system. Good healthy eating plans have the amounts of these macronutrients in proportion to the total calorie intake consumed per day. One basic rule that you should consider is to be able to have 20 percent of calories from protein, 30 percent calories from fats, and 50 percent from complex carbohydrates every day.

Together with these three important rules, you should also keep in mind to correctly monitor your calorie requirements each day. By doing so, you will insure of having and maintaining a proper body weight. This is vital when it comes to longevity, having a good well-being, and prevention of diseases. One golden nugget you should know, for example, is that the elevation of blood pressure is directly proportional to that of the increases of body weight.diet and nutrition diet and nutrition plan nutrition

Gestational Diabetes And Causes Posted By: harry jackson

There are many natural remedies for diabetes, some of which more common and more reliable than others. But for pregnant women, it is critical to consult a doctor before attempting to manage gestational diabetes with any of these natural remedies. It is up to the physician to ensure the condition is properly monitored, managed and treated as necessary and not all natural remedies for diabetes may be safe for pregnant women, especially those taken as supplements and not simply ingested through food.

For example, ginseng is a popular herbal natural remedy for diabetes that is believed to help lower blood sugar levels. However, it is most often found in pill form and may not be suitable for a pregnant woman and her fetus. While on the other hand, the common spice cinnamon is also believed to be a natural remedy for diabetes due to its positive effect on lowering blood sugar level and is safe for pregnant women to ingest without fear of harm to the baby.

Diabetes in pregnant women is medically known as gestational diabetes mellitus or GDM. It is a type of diabetes that women previously did not get but only during her pregnancy.gestational diabetes gestational diabetes symptoms gestation
