Basics Of Buying And Using Fishing Rods And Fish Scaler Posted By: Darren Ryan

Are you about to buy some a fishing rod? Fishing rods comes in many different shapes and sizes for each particular fishing use. Inland lake, small pond, salty backwater, saltwater ocean, the surf or deep sea are several fishing locations. Where you will be fishing is an important consideration before buying your rod. In addition, you need to consider the fish species and the fish size in order to buy the right rod.

Rods for fishing in inland pond and large lakes

If you intend to do fishing in an inland pond, carp, trout, perch and crappie are the species you may target. It is easy to catch these species using a light road-and-reel combination. A spinning reel is the choice of many for this sort of fishing. A spin-cast reel is another types of fishing rods. It is a good choice for children who are learning to fishing. A 6'-7' long and lightweight rod is more than perfect for the job. Fishing in large lakes where such species as steelhead, salmon, trout and pike walleye are found requires specific fishing gear.

Ten Ice Fishing Tips Posted By: icefire

Ten Ice Fishing TipsEveryone can stand to catch a few more panfish through the ice. However, ice anglers typically settle into a routine when they head out onto the ice. They catch several fish and then the action slows down or stops entirely. Maybe they change depths, colors, or holes a few times but that is about it. Once they stop catching fish based upon this routine, they quit and blame it on the fish they just stopped biting. Prior to muttering this phrase again, try the following tips and techniques.

1. Vertical to Horizontal. The style of one's ice jig is just as important as its color. Most anglers are accustomed to using a tear-dropped shaped jig that hangs vertically in the water, such as Jammin' Jigs Beetle or Teardrop jig. When fish stop biting vertical jigs, switch to a jig that hangs horizontally such as a Jammin' Jig Bobber Fry. I have found that crappies and perch generally bite better on a horizontal jig. To observe a wide selection of both horizontal and vertical ice jigs on the internet, check out www.jamminjigs.com.

2. Line Twist.Football shirts Retro Football Shirts

Catch Some Fish In Kentucky During The Christmas Break Posted By: OHubPR2011

Most of us get some time off during the upcoming holidays. With all of the stress surrounding Christmas, what a better way to blow off some steam and get away from work and family obligations than hearing your drag screech from a trophy fish.

Winter is one the most productive trophy fishing times of the year for sauger, striped bass and even largemouth bass from farm ponds if the weather conditions cooperate.

Sauger bite better as the temperatures drop in December and January. They are arguably the most consistent biter of any fish in winter. Plus, sauger fillets taste fantastic, comparable to walleye in flavor and firmness of the meat.

The tailraces of reservoir dams and the areas immediately downstream of locks and dams on the major rivers make the highest percentage spots to consistently catch winter sauger. As the water cools in winter, they stack up below these dams in impressive numbers. Locks and dams on the Ohio River from Meldahl Lock and Dam near Foster, Kentucky in Bracken County downstream to Smithland Lock and Dam near Smithland in Livingston County all produce excellent winter sauger fishing.Fishing Fishing News Outdoors Outdoor News

How To Ice Fish Posted By: OHubPR2011

1. Bait Presentation

Lake ice fishing is a fun challenge because although you may be targeting the same fish you chase in the summer, pretty much everything about this style of fishing is different. For starters you can't cast your line, so you're limited as far as the kind of action you can create with your lure. But just because you're fishing vertically doesn't mean you can't trick fish into thinking the bait is moving horizontally. If a normal jig isn't producing results, try one that's weighted to lay horizontally in the water column, like a Jammin' Jig Bobber Fry.

Another effective strategy called "line twisting," is a good alternative to the standard vertical jigging motion. Just roll the line between your fingers so the bait gently spins in place. You can also make the most out of limited space by moving the line in a circle around the perimeter of the ice hole. Works great in shallow water.

Don't forget bottom bouncing as a way to get at the deepest fish.Fishing Fishing News Outdoor News Outdoors

Spinnerbait Basics Posted By: Jay Bryce

Spinnerbaits are easy to use and they find fish quickly. The two traditional types are the inline spinnerbait and the safety pin style spinnerbait. The inline has a spinner blade in direct line with a weighted body and a treble hook that is usually tied with hair. The spinner acts as a fish attractor and is usually highly polished or finished in a fluorescent paint.

The hook-hair portion of the lure serves as the body, and they are dyed in dull colors that simulate natural food items. Some fishermen attach soft plastic body dressings to spinner baits which add color and incease the action of the lure. Examples include the Panther Martin and the Rooster Tail.

Safety pin style spinnerbaits have a blade or blades directly over a single hook and are usually dressed with a silicone or rubber skirt. The fish to target with spinnerbaits include all bass species, trout and crappie.

Spinnerbaits also come in many different varieties. Casting spinnerbaits over boulders and rootwads, then retrieving the lure at a speed that produces a gurgling noise from the lure, can be excellent on some days.

Late Fall Crappie Fishing Posted By: Jay Bryce

Late Fall Crappie Fishing Seasonal movements of black crappies are similar to other warmwater fish species. In early spring, when water temperatures begin to rise, many fish will move from the deep areas of a lake to shallow vegetated areas where spawning will occur.

In early fall, crappies will again begin to move, this time feeding on available forage in preparation for winter. Crappies are one of the few warmwater species that can actually be caught in greater numbers in the colder months between October and April, with November and March being the two best months.

Crappies move into shallower depths during autumn and closely associate with shoreline structures. They may be found in close proximity to weed lines, rocky points, flooded stream channels, or a variety of other habitats. Cooler water temperatures stimulate more aggressive feeding behavior.

Crappie are generally very predictable and aggressive in October and November. Docks are a prime location for fall crappie, where they can be caught in the upper 10 feet of the water column. Even better than just vegetation is an area with stumps and brush.fishing crappie fall outdoors sports

Introduction To Aquaponics Fish Posted By: John Harder

Who is not going to really like fish? If you recently have been trying to find some info on how to combine new fish inside of a freshly developed aquaponics system, likelihood is you might be a hearty fish eater.

You have got a very good craving for nutritious, fresh sea food and that's exactly almost certainly one reason you really want an aquaponics process within your back yard to start with.

Although you might be aware of, a prosperous aquaponics set up is influenced by a few primary ingredients: sea food, micro organism, in addition to plant life. Minus the fish, your natural and organic fruit and vegetables cannot thrive. And devoid of the plant life, the sea food will die swiftly as the water becomes harmful with nitrates and ammonia, as well as other types of waste products..

Without having micro organism, the plant life may not be capable to take in important nitrates through the water. Thus each part is very important to your system. Get rid of just one part, and your system is going to falter.

Centering on the fish

Tilapia is your best option regarding aquaponics systems, no matter the measurements of your setup.aquaponics fish aquaponics

Fishing At New River Gorge Posted By: Jay Bryce

Fishing is one of the most popular activities on the New River. The diversity of fish in its waters makes the New River an excellent warm water fishery. With proper respect for the river and its resources and a few safety precautions, anglers can enjoy a quality fishing experience.

Public river access points within New River Gorge National River are available at the Tug Creek Beach, Brooks Falls, Hellems Beach, and Sandstone Falls via River Road at Hinton; Meadow Creek; McCreery, Grandview Sandbar, Mill Creek, and Glade Creek off Hwy. 41 near Prince; Dunglen and Stone Cliff near Thurmond; Cunard; and Fayette Station.

To access the New River across private property, one must receive permission from the land owner.

Other places to fish include Bluestone National Scenic River, Gauley River National Recreation Area, Meadow River, Greenbrier River, Bluestone Lake, and Summersville Lake.

A Time to Fish
Spring and fall are the best times of the year to fish the New River. During these seasons, water temperatures are in transition between cold winter temperatures and warm summer temperatures. Most fish species are more active in cooler water and are more aggressively feeding during the spring and fall.fishing new river gorge West Virginia outdoors sports
