New Canal Set To Increase The Demand For Property In Turkey Posted By: Jason

The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced plans to build a new canal to bypass the heavily congested Bosphorus Strait, should see the demand for property in Turkey significantly rise.

The scheme named, Canal Istanbul, will link up the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara that opens to the Aegean Sea and will fundamentally involve the build of a man-made stretch of water alongside the Bosphorus Strait.

The Prime Minister remarked that the canal will be about 45-50 km in length, 150 metres wide and 25 metres deep, however he did not reveal the exact location or the expense of the huge project.

Set to be completed by 2023, experts predict that the construction of the river will have a positive impact on the demand for property in Istanbul and will create good employment for workers at Turkish companies.

"We have today embarked on the greatest project of the century," Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated.

One reason behind the build is that some hazardous materials are a threat to the city as they are being moved through the small 30km (19 mile) Bosphorus strait.property in Istanbul apartments in Istanbul
