I've Just Built My First Guitar Pickup And It Sounded Great! Posted By: Eduardo Munroe

As a keen guitarist and somebody who has dabbled in making electric guitars for many years, the need to build my first guitar pickup was overpowering. For those who don't know, guitar pickups are to a guitar what a mic would be to a vocalist. Quite simply, it's a way of allowing your guitar to be electronically amplified.

I collated all the information I possibly could from the net and a range of books, and with my experience in customising various guitars I was prepared to take on the task. As my guitar is a Les Paul type I'll be building a humbucker type pickup as opposed to the single coil pickups found on most Fender guitars.

The very first thing I had to do was to come up with every one of the guitar pickup parts essential for the building procedure. Luckily a UK pickup company offered every part I required for my project. Wonderful! The second thing I had to do was to produce a very basic pickup winding system. Essentially whatever electronically rotates and will allow control of the speed could be utilised at the heart of your pickup winder.guitars guitar pickups pickup parts guitarists guitar players humbucker pickups musical instruments fender gibson

2 Simple Tricks That Improved My Les Paul Guitar Posted By: Todd Witzken

I'm a huge Les Paul guitar admirer and have been for years. Like many other devotees I would love to personally own the holy grail of all electric guitars the Gibson, Les Paul 1959 Standard, but of course the fact that it costs more than many homes helps make this a dream that won't be coming true within the near future.

What I did invest in not too long ago was a Gibson 1959 VOS (Virtual Original Spec) modern-day model of that extremely valuable guitar. The colour is Ice Tea and also the book-matched flamed maple top is a stunner! This is Gibson's re-edition of their own '50s work of art, making use of many of the same materials and building methods of the highly-priced originals. It is a gorgeous guitar but still had a somewhat high price tag. After a short time of proudly owning it I was compelled to make a couple of basic tweaks to make this excellent guitar even better.

My initial area of minor dissatisfaction was that the frets weren't as polished as I would have thought on a guitar of this worth.les paul guitar les paul guitar guitarist guitar player guitars electric guitars guitar pickups instruments music

Understanding Pcb Mounting Transformers Better Posted By: Smith Corner

A Printed Circuit Board is primarily used to lend mechanical and electrical support to interconnect electrical components through conductive pathways, tracks and signal traces etched from copper sheets laminated onto a non conductive substrate.

A PCB replete with electronic components is also referred to as a PCB Assembly. They get used in all but the simplest of commercially produced electronic devices. They are inexpensive and also highly reliable. PCB Mounting Transformers are built with them. Such transformers are cheaper and faster for high volume production, which the transformer manufacturer does via totally automated equipment.

Purchasing components for PCB Mounting Transformers is not tough. This arises from the fact that they get constructed on high quality double section metric bobbins. Designed to meet international standards and fitted with modern pin terminals, they provide a level of reliability which you can trust.

A transformer manufacturer fits every PCB device with independent primary windings for 120V and 240V.

These transformers come fitted with vacuum potting and inherently short-circuit proof designs and an approval from VDE. They are lightweight and come in small sizes. They have amazing dielectric strength and do not get heated up that quickly.Transformer Manufacturer Power Conversion Transformers

I'd Like To Make My Own Guitar Pickup - Is This Achievable? Posted By: Eduardo Munroe

If like me you are one of those keen guitarists who is forever tinkering with their guitars striving to improve the sound and playability, you may have at one time or another considered whether or not it would be at all possible to create your very own bespoke guitar pickups. As I soon discovered, this is definitely something that is achievable, though more fiddly than I had imagined.

To build your own creation you will be undertaking the task of wrapping wire which is practically as fine as human hair around bobbins thousands of times, so if you happen to be the kind of person who has practically no patience for involved things such as this, you might be better off deciding to stick to commercially available products. On the other hand, if you welcome this kind of challenge, the final results can be surprisingly rewarding.

If you have made the decision to give this project a go, the initial thing you will need to do is to search online for some instructions relating to the building of a simple coil winding machine.guitars guitar pickups guitar blogs guitar players guitar building electric guitars humbuckers stratocasters les paul telecaster

What's The Difference Between A Humbucker And A P-90 Guitar Pickup? Posted By: Jim J Ward

Both the humbucker and the P-90 pickup were originally the concept of the Gibson Guitar Corporation. The early version of the P-90 was branded the PU-90 and was developed by Guy Hart and Walt Fullers in the 1940's - the Les Paul version came later, composed of the same simple plate but minus the side brackets. It was not until 1956 that the now magical humbucking pickup designed by Seth Lover of Gibson came on the scene.

So what's the difference between these two types of pickup?

Well to begin with the P-90 is a single coil pickup and the humbucker is composed of two coils. Not only do they sound somewhat different but electronically there are some quite different things going on.

An average P-90 is constructed with approximately 10,000 winds of 42 AWG enamel-coated wire wrapped around a black plastic bobbin, which are subsequently covered in a black paper tape. These winds give a reading of more or less 8,000 ohms. Positioned beneath the black bobbin are the two Alnico magnets in a magnetically opposed configuration. The initial examples used Alnico 3 magnets but the kind of Alnico varied over time.guitars guitar pickups guitar blog guitarists guitar players electric guitars guitar parts

High Voltage Transformer ' Posted By: Custom Coils

The Electronic industry today depends heavily on transformers. Today, there are customized varieties available to cater to special needs; the high voltage transformer is one of them. This type of transformer is used when heavy duty power source becomes an important prerogative for better productivity.

Field of Operation

The application areas of the heavy duty transformer are immense. Of these, power transformers are the most popular in the electronic industry. They allow the circuit designer to use any rail voltage they need for their high voltage circuit. These transformers today come in a wide variety from very large power grid type transformers down to very small high voltage trigger transformers that are used for lighting a flash lamp.

Distinguishing Traits

There are various factors that distinguish a high voltage transformer. It requires specialized winding techniques and specific high quality materials to produce this category of transformers. A quality manufacturer of high voltage transformer has the ability to manufacture them in capacity as high as 35lbs, or say approximately that of the average sized car battery.High Voltage Transformers Custom High Voltage Transformer

Quilt Embroidery Posted By: Embroidery

Quilt making is a process of joining decorative fabrics that are cut into geometric shapes to create a quilt top, adding two or more layers of fabric (a soft fill and decorative backing fabric) then stitching them together as one, using patterns of stitches that are appealing and artistic through all 3 layers. Machine embroidery can simply be defined as the art or skill of decorating fabric with the use of digitized patterns, needles and thread on a computerized sewing machine. Some people prefer to use fabric only to create the different patterns for their quilts, while others use a combination of fabrics and embroidery designs to enhance and beautify the quilt top. By combining these two art forms, the modern quilter has endless choices when creating their quilt embroidery masterpieces.

The method of combining these two popular forms of soft art, embroidery and quilting, is fairly new and a wonderful way to show originality and talent by creating one of a kind Quilt embroidery projects.Quilt embroidery Embroidery design patterns embroidery.
