Seven Bizarre Reasons To Learn Kung Fu In This Nutty World! Posted By: Al Case

If it was your decision not to learn kung fu, or some other martial art...too sweaty, too hard...maybe you should reconsider. Society is flipping out, and I mean in our own safe, little cities. Here are seven instances of people who have gone over to the dark side, and they are the total argument for learning self defense.

Two girls didn't like the way some fry cook was taking their McNuggets order at their McDonalds restaurant, so they jumped over the counter and went after him. He decided to pick up an iron bar and proceeded to give them a little of their own medicine. McDonalds should have included Karate or Kung Fu lessons in their training!

Young kids don't have the only edge on insanity, because a sixty year old woman repeatedly stabbed her boyfriend. Her reason was that she was just sure that he was cheating at the Monopoly game they were playing! Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to jail...and it's too bad her boyfriend didn't know a little Krav Maga or Jujitsu!

Some people say Americans don't have enough protein in their diet, and maybe that is true.karate kung fu tai chi chuan pa kua chang tong long hung gar

Three Things One Must Know When Doing Real Shaolin Kung Fu Training Posted By: Al Case

The wins students get from true Shaolin Kung Fu training are absolutely unbelievable. The key to these wins is to train correctly. After all, you could have the nicest cut of ribs in the world, but cook it incorrectly and you'll have a charcoal mess.

When one is studying Kung Fu one should always move the body as a single unit. Six Harmonies Boxing preaches that one should move the hand at the same time as the foot, the knee with the elbow, and the hips with the shoulders. This is a technical viewpoint, which tends to separate body parts even as it unifies them.

As for the hands and feet, one should step or twist into a stance in conjunction with the starting and stopping of the hand movement. For the knees and elbows, one should properly align the body when doing any movement. For the hips and shoulders, move them together and you will be putting all your body weight into whatever motion you are doing.

The second of the three secrets of Shaolin Kung Fu training is to use the waist when turning the body.shaolin kung fu kenpo karate aikido taekwondo

Bruce Lee Workouts And Developing Real Strength-part Two Posted By: Al Case

When people do Bruce Lee workouts they have no idea just how brutal that workout can be. They watch Enter the Dragon, they read the martial arts training books, but they don't know what Bruce Lee was really capable of. They don't have no idea how physically strong he really was.

It wasn't just that he was a martial arts true believer, he could actually do superhuman feats. I've listed a few of the things he could do in this bit of writing, and you should think about them seriously when you do your Bruce Lee workouts. It's more than just push ups and sit ups, it is a different and fantastical realm of physical capability.

First, the sheer speed one builds doing Bruce Lee training routines is more than just faster than the eye could see, it is faster than the mind can comprehend! He could punch an opponent in five one hundredths of second...that's 0.05 seconds. Try moving your thumb that fast on your digital stopwatch!

Second, Bruce Lee could extend a seventy-five pound barbell straight out for several seconds. That is a unbelievably difficult.karate kung fu kenpo taekwondo aikido

Morihei Ueshiba And The Five Stages That Led To The Art Of Aikido Posted By: Al Case

The Art of Aikido was established and presented to the world by Morihei Ueshiba. O Sensei (great teacher), as he is called was not a heroic figure in the beginning. He was of poor health when he was a youngster, and somewhat sporadic in his training efforts.

In 1915 the first real step in the life of the founder of Aikido began. He met Takeda Sokaku, the last real samurai, who was the master of Daito Ryu Aiki Jujitsu. For over twenty years Morihei Ueshiba dedicated his life to learning this ancient art and perfecting the moves that would result in Aikido techniques.

The second step in the life of the founder of the Art of Aikido was when he encountered Onisaburo Deguchi. Onisaburo was the spiritual head of the Omoto kyo religion. Omoto Kyo (Great Source) preaches shinto spirituality and the achievement of personal spirituality through the practicing of virtue.

The Art of Aikido could be said to have officially been born when Morihei Ueshiba experienced personal enlightenment in 1925. He had a duel with a navel officer in which he defeated the fellow without harming him by using Aikido moves.art of aikido taekwondo hapkido gozoshioda

I Lift Weights Posted By: Matthew McKernan

I lift weights. I also run and hit things. At 43 I'm just as active now as I ever was. "Active", what an old person term. In your teens, 20's and 30's you worked out, in your 40's you're fucking active. Be careful, when people start calling you "vibrant" or telling you how good you look you're going to take a dirt nap soon. Anyway, there's no reason to slow down. The way I figure, the Spartans were in the active military from 20 to age 60 (sometimes 65) so I'm not slowing down until then. Plus given medical technology today as compared to 1500 years ago, there's no reason why in your 70's you still can't be going strong.

I'm going to ask you to be honest with yourself. Given your overall return on investment, is your time better spent learning katas (forms) or lifting weights? Would you get more benefit practicing esoteric methods of harmonizing your chi or dead-lifting?

Years ago in Tae Kwon Do, the instructor was drilling us while we were practicing blocks in the air.martial arts self defense

Martial Arts Responsible For Decline Of America! Posted By: Al Case

That Martial Arts are the real reason for America's decline and fall is unarguable. The lack of martial art training causes a lack of self discipline, a loss of integrity, and the decline of responsibility. This is exactly what is at the root of the decline of America.

Now, we can carry on about the big name corporations, the president being a socialist, the unions trying to get something for nothing, and while there is going to be a certain amount of truth in these things, the responsibility for change is still going to fall upon the individual. The horrific fact, you see, is that more than 1 out of every 10 Americans over the age of twelve is on prescription drugs for depressed mental health. This is not individual responsibility, this is band aids for cancer!

These meds are doctor prescribed antidepressants like prozac, and there has been a direct link established between such drugs and suicide. How many people commit suicide because of the martial arts? Not too many.martial art judo jujitsu taekwondo aikido karate

Is There A Santa Clause, Too? Posted By: Matthew McKernan

This story was told to me by the late Carl Cestari who had asked our Judo instructor Yonezuka sensei to "perform" at a celebration of martial arts on Long Island, New York. It was called something like "1000 years of jujitsu". Yonezuka or "Yone" at the time was well into his 50's and still training hard (you should note that in his 70's he's still going strong). You should also know that Yone's skills in Judo, Karate and Sumo are incredible and his exploits are well known in the fight game in the 70's and 80's.

After some convincing, Carl takes Yonezuka to this demonstration in a high school gymnasium. The place is packed with people and as you would guess there's Aikido and Aikijujutsu demonstrations. People were getting tossed about by their finger tips and wincing in pain as they were being manipulated by their black belt instructors. It looks like a Steven Segal convention. While the scene is unfolding, Carl is watching Yonezuka grow a little agitated and impatient, as if he was thinking "you dragged me all the way out here for this?!?!"

Finally it's Yone's turn to speak.martial arts self defense

If You Want To Study Martial Arts Which Art Should You Study? Posted By: Al Case

Everybody has thought about a study of the martial arts. They see the Jackie Chan flicks, they hear the crime horror tales, and they know that if they knew something like Karate or Kung Fu they would be in better shape if they got attacked.

The choice becomes one of, do you study Karate or Kung Fu? Or Aikido or Tai Chi Chuan or kenpo or Pa Kua or Krav Maga or...the choices can be a bit overwhelming. So let's think our way through a few arts and consider what the correct decision should be.

Karate is constructed of powerful kicks and punches. The training tends to be regimented, and you will be expected to sweat. Depending on the style of karate you choose, you may end up studying such things as jointlocks, throws, and so on.

There are a number of kung fu styles available. There are styles which focus on close quarter combat, like Wing Chun, and there are styles like Shaoin which allow for more arm swinging techniques. There are very combative methods, like Preying Mantis, and there are strange and wild methods, like Monkey style, Drunken style, or even the Drunken Monkey Style.study martial arts learn martial art taekwondo aikido kenpo

Beyond The Rules Of Physics With Martial Arts Chi Power Posted By: Al Case

When it comes to Martial Arts Chi Power, a different set or rules comes into play.
Physics is the fact of measuring the universe. How thick is something, how fast is something moving, how strong is something, and so on.
Normal physics depends on a couple of unalterable rules. For instance, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Gravity. These kinds of physics are called Newtonian physics after Isaac Newton.
Newtonian physics is the guideline for the universe, but they are relative when considered in light of where in the universe you are. If you measure a pound on earth, and a pound on Mars, there is going to be different mass, or size, or whatever, to that pound.
In the martial arts you can change the Newton rules, and make them relative without leaving the earth. This ability to alter physics is the "second set of physics," the physics is beyond physics," of the martial arts. It should be pointed out here that this second set of physics can be noted in practices other than the martial arts. However, the martial arts tend to "grow" them consistently.martial arts chi power chi kung aikido tai chi churn kenpo

Martial Arts Science Revealed By Five Elements Posted By: Al Case

That there is a martial arts science is a fact which none can dispute, the sad news is that people hold to art, and refuse the science in their thinking. This science, however, lives and breathes in the fighting disciplines and is described in many of the books, strategies and philosophies of the arts. In this piece of writing we will discuss the distinct progression of arts that will reveal this science.

The universe can easily be seen as five distinct elements. Interestingly, though there can be disagreement as to what actually constitutes a basic element, the science will still, in the final analysis, be revealed. Thus, choose your elements, and apply your arts as is done here, and it will still work.

The first element is air. Air is intaken and used by the body to generate chi energy. Thus, one could do any exercise, yoga is very good, zen is adequate, and begin the transmutation of the universe into personal energy.

The second element one must understand is fire, and this is the generation of chi within the body generator, known as the tan tien, or 'one point.martial arts martial strategy martial philosophy keno

Karate Forms, The Truth Of What They Mean Posted By: Al Case

The old school of teaching martial arts is by teaching Karate forms. This applies to Karate, Kung Fu, Taekwondo, Kenpo, and arts of that nature. Even if you're not in a kata oriented discipline, however, there is an adherence to the study of form.

The unfortunate fact is that most people don't know why they are studying in this manner. They don't see the connection between repetition of dance-like moves and real combat. The moves often even seem removed from any real function.

The first thing to understand is that the body is a form, and the dance is a form. Thus, when you move one, you move the other. The point here is that you are learning what you live in.

Most people think they actually are a body, but the cold, hard fact is...they ain't. But they won't realize that unless they take control of that flesh vehicle and start to move it. The best way to move that body is by doing kung fu kata.

The second thing one should know is that forms are actually advanced movements. Advanced movements require either massive amounts of time invested, or they require a total understanding of the basics.karate arnis krav maga aikido jujitsu judo

Martial Arts Discipline, Why It Is The Best, Why It Works! Posted By: Al Case

I say Martial Arts Discipline, but actually only one of these methods relates to the fighting disciplines. The most important of these three types, however, refers to studies like Karate, Jujitsu, Kenpo, and so on. In life, this is the only one that counts.

The first method is going to be life itself. You do something wrong, and life comes up and knocks you on your fanny. Go on, don't bother getting up and heading off for work, hungry comes fast around here.

The second method is the fact of discipline, and here we should say something. What we are talking about is not somebody making you do something, for the subject can't be forced. What we are talking about is you making you do something that you know is good for you, and if you're smart you'll pick something you like.

Now, that having been noted, methods for putting control on oneself range throughout all endeavors and activities. Simple sports, like basketball, ping pong, hula hooping, whatever, they all call for one to order one's existence and activity so that one gets somewhere.karate kyokushinkai wasket weaving judo arnis

Tony Jaa Threatens Suicide, Then Becomes A Monk! Posted By: Al Case

Not many people on this planet don't know who Tony Jaa is. The star of Ong Bak and other movies, he is faster than Bruce Lee, more athletic than Jackie Chan, and looks to have a long career in front of him. What most people don't know of is his threat to commit suicide.

The threat to end ones life sounds serious, but in this case it is a laugher. When Tony was a child he watched movies of his hero, Bruce Lee, and he was totally struck with a deep and abiding love for the martial arts. He would practice his moves for hours, changing his daily tasks into work outs, striving to become like Bruce or Jackie.

One day he went to his father and requested martial arts instruction. When the answer was no, Tony said something that only an immature child would say. He said that if he didn't get Muay Thai lessons he would end his life.

Well, go to bed without dinner, young fellow. But, upshot, Tony did eventually receive those coveted martial arts lessons. It turned out to be the best investment his family could make.tony jaa ninjitsu kenpo taekwondo movie kung fu
