Sum 41 Rocks Around The World Posted By: Jimmy Cox

Punk rock is a type of music that began in the mid 70s and Sum 41 is a younger group that has heartily embraced this style of musical mayhem. The Canadian rockers have developed a strong following in several countries even though they have only been in the mainstream action for a few years. Typically, the group performs songs with beats that are fast paced, rock with sizzle and the lyrics contain a hard-edged ruthlessness. Many of the songs deal with controversy, politics, cultural mores, and going against what is viewed as the "establishment". To younger teens, this type of music is often appealing because they feel it speaks to them and reflects much of what is going on in their own lives.

Sum 41 is from Canada and Deryck Whibley and Steve Jocz have been members from the time the group formed. Current members of the band include Steve Jocz on drums, other percussion instruments, and backup vocals; Deryck Whibley and Cone McCaslin are the guitarists and both also perform vocals. Whibley is the lead vocalist ant handles the keyboard in addition to the guitar work. McCaslin is a backup vocalist and works his magic with the bass guitar.bands band bio

Excellent Punk Rock Percussionists Of The Past 10 Years. Posted By: NickyWalker

At the start of the list is a comparatively fresh drummer, many might argue that he isn't truly a punk drummer and more of a metal one but I disagree, true he's keen to slow it down and do some death metal fills but at heart he's a born and bred punk rocker-
Steve Jocz -AKA "Stevo"Born 23/07/1981. Steve is mainly renowned for his work in the Canadian pop punk group Sum 41. A very fast and tight drummer, he can turn the feel of a song instantaneously. Only one of the few punk drummers that can record cheesy metal rolls and get away with handling it. Steve is also famous for his toilet comedy which is a known indicator of punk maturity/immaturity- you choose!
Travis BarkerBorn on November 14, 1975. Perhaps most renowned for his work in Blink 182 he's also banged away for lots of other groups. Travis sits in at number 4 not simply because of his intense speed and timing but because of his expansive variety of styles from Hip-hop to Punk, Country to Pop.
Tré Cool (real name Frank Edwin Wright III)Born on December 9, 1972.punk drummers punk drummers nofx blink 182 sum 41

Selected Impressive Punk Drummers Of The Past Decade.-00-631 Posted By: NickyWalker

At the start of the list is a rather recent drummer, a number of people may dispute that he's not truly a punk drummer and more of a heavy metal one but I differ, it's right that he's fond to slow it down and do his death metal fills but at heart he's genuinely a punk rocker-
Steve Jocz -AKA "Stevo"Born 23/07/1981. Jocz is most recognized for his work in the Canadian pop punk band Sum 41. A fantastically fast and awkward drummer, he's able to switch the ambiance of a song right away. Only one of the small amount of punk drummers that can play cheesy metal rolls and get away with it. Steve is also renowned for his toilet comedy which is a distinct sign of punk maturity/immaturity- you decide!
Tré Cool (real name Frank Edwin Wright III)Born December 9, 1972. Tré is part of the original (pretty much) 3 piece which makes up Green Day. Swaying much more to the pop part of punk as a drummer, Tré positively helped Green Day attain the universal audience that pushed them to superstars.drumming drummers punk NOFX Sum 41 Green Day The Vandals Blink 182 Erik Sandin Steve Jocz
