New Traumatic Brain Injury Research Helps Tbi Treatment And Prevention Posted By: Katie Kelley

Professional Sports Respond to Traumatic Brain Injury Risk A recent traumatic brain injury has forced American bobsled driver Todd Hays to retire. Hays, a silver medalist and 2010 Olympic hopeful, sustained a significant head injury during an accident that occurred while training. Initially diagnosed as a concussion, further testing revealed that Hays has an intraparenchymal hematoma, a serious brain injury where the brain bleeds due to suffering trauma.

This potentially life-threatening injury can result in a stroke if excess bleeding increases pressure on the brain. Although Hays is expected to make a full recovery, his retirement is a necessity to prevent additional brain damage.

Hays's accident occurred a week after the National Football Association announced an updated policy on concussion management. Under the new guidelines, if a player shows signs of a concussion, the player will be removed from practice or the game. According to a previous policy, players could return to a game - including the same game in which the injury occurred - as soon as symptoms disappeared.

In October 2009, the United States Congress conducted a hearing on how the NFL handled concussion treatment, which may have prompted the head injury guideline update.Traumatic Brain Injury brain injury brain injuries TBI traumatic brain injury lawyer traumatic brain injury lawsuit traumatic brain injury attorney br

Cincinnati Bengals Tickets - Grief Punctuated By Loss Posted By: Brent Warnken

The Cincinnati Bengals definitely needed a pick-me-up coming into their game versus the San Diego Chargers during Week 15 play, but they got just the opposite in a 27-24 loss. The team had an unexpected blow leading up to the game against the Chargers with the death of wide receiver Chris Henry.

Obviously hurting, the players tried to focus and almost succeeded in taking home the win. That fighting spirit has gotten them to the top of the AFC North, also making Cincinnati Bengals tickets popular. Fans can get theirs online.

Despite the tragedy, the game between the Bengals and Chargers already held importance for both teams. A win would push either team closer toward a secured playoff bid. The Chargers struck first in their opening drive, with Antonio Gates nabbing a three-yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers. The Bengals moved the score to 7-3 with a 26-yard field goal by Shayne Graham later in the first quarter.

The game moved in the Bengals' favor early in the second quarter when Chad Ochocinco had an impressive 49-yard touchdown catch from Carson Palmer.Cincinnati Bengals sports tickets football NFL

Nfl Tickets - Prospect Watch Posted By: Brent Warnken

Here are some NFL draft prospects that I will be keeping my eye on throughout the pre-draft process.

Ndamukong Suh, Defensive Tackle, Nebraska: Suh, in my opinion, is the best player in the draft and should go number one no matter which team ends up with the top pick. I know skill position players are the ones that sell NFL tickets, but Suh's ability is undeniable. He's absolutely relentless and is already a really good run stopper. He's also got a lot of potential as a pass rusher and I've heard him compared to Warren Sapp on several occasions. He's the top prospect in this draft.

Eric Berry, Safety, Tennessee: Berry, in my opinion, is the second-best player in the draft. Safeties don't usually go in the top three picks, though, so I'm curious to see if a team likes him enough to use that high of a pick on him. I think he's an instant impact starter and could really help out a struggling secondary.

Gerald McCoy, Defensive Tackle, Oklahoma: McCoy would be the best defensive tackle in almost any other draft, but Suh just happens to be in this one.NFL sports tickets football game sporting event

Nfl Tickets - Looking In On The Nfc East Posted By: Brent Warnken

As we hit the stretch run of the 2009 NFL season, this is how things are shaping up in a tight NFC East race.

Philadelphia Eagles (9-4): The Eagles are the most reliable team in this division on a week-to-week basis. They've got a dynamic offensive attack, at least through the air. Quarterback Donovan McNabb has excelled for much of his career despite lacking a dependable group of receivers to throw to for most of it, but the franchise has recently landed some good young guys to man the outside on offense. DeSean Jackson is uncoverable at times and gives this offense the big play dimension that it has lacked in the past. Jeremy Maclin is having a fine rookie season and seems to be a nice complement to Jackson.

Jackson is developing into one of those must-see guys that everyone wants to get NFL tickets to watch. He can break a touchdown any time he touches the ball. The running game is less potent than the Philadelphia passing attack, though, as Brian Westbrook has missed a lot of time this season with a concussion.NFL sports tickets football game sporting event

Florida Panthers Tickets - Panthers Edge Thrashers 4-3 Posted By: Brent Warnken

Stephen Weiss, Radek Dvorak, Bryan McCabe, and Michael Frolik scored to give the Florida Panthers a 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers. Get Florida Panthers tickets and see Frolik score the game winner. Tomas Vokoun made 20 saves for the Panthers. Weiss got Florida on the board at 6:42 in the first. Atlanta's Johan Hedberg stopped the initial shot from Nathan Horton, but Weiss was right on the door step and swept the rebound into the net. It was the 16th goal of the season for Weiss and his third in three games.

Florida extended their lead 2-0 with Dvorak's goal at 8:19 in the first. Dvorak received a pass from Steven Reinprecht before he found the back of the net, firing a shot from the low slot. McCabe scored at 2:54 in the second period to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead. The defenseman took a pass from Victor Oreskovich and then blasted a shot from the right circle that went past Hedberg. It was his fourth goal of the season.

Ilya Kovalchuk, Nik Antropov and Vyacheslav Kozlov scored for the Thrashers, which overcame a three-goal deficit to tie the game in the third period.Florida Panthers sports tickets football NFL

Nfl Playoff Schedule And Sunday Night Football Schedule Posted By: Richard Cunningham

NFL Primer will be shaping off the races on Week 13. The primer will start with the Titans on a 5 straight win going on target after a slow start of 0-6. A team with a poor record with only five games to go will have a very slim chance to get to the post season.

But record showed that 13 teams have made it since 1990 when the NFL started the 12 team playoff systems. The fact is that half of the team at this point has made it to the playoffs for the past five seasons. And this year The Tennessee Titans is on the right tract, if they can find a solution to defeat the Colts in Indianapolis. The next three games give them a home court advantage and the last will be at Seattle.

The next match to look forward to is a Giant match. They (6-5) lost five of their past six games after a very impressive 5-0 start. Now will be the start of a sequence of three crucial games versus the NFC East challenger when they host the division-leading Cowboys (8-3).nfl playoff schedule sunday night football schedule

2010 Nfl Playoff Tickets - Nfc Playoff Picture Posted By: Brent Warnken

Here is a look at the NFC Playoff picture as of Dec. 15, 2009.
New Orleans Saints (13-0): The Saints have already locked up the NFC South, so we know that they'll be selling 2010 NFL playoff tickets. This team has not lost a game all season thanks to their dynamic offense.

Minnesota Vikings (11-2): I thought they were the best team in football before their Week 13 loss to Arizona. Now I'm not so sure how I feel about them. I still think they're very good, but I'm not so sure I like them to win the NFC more than I like the Saints to do so. Brett Favre has imploded in some big games in the past, but as long as the team leans on Adrian Peterson they should be fine.

Philadelphia Eagles (9-4): The Eagles are in sole possession of the NFC East right now, but don't have the easiest schedule remaining. A Week 17 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys could yet again decide a playoff berth for the two teams.2010 NFL playoff football sports tickets NFL

2010 Nfl Playoff Tickets - Afc Playoff Picture Posted By: Brent Warnken

Here is a look at the AFC playoff picture as of Dec.15, 2009.
Indianapolis Colts (13-0): We already know that the Colts will be selling 2010 NFL playoff tickets, as they've sewn up the AFC South title and the number one seed in the conference.

San Diego Chargers (10-3): They've just about wrapped up the AFC West title and are in a great position to land the number two seed and a first-round bye. This team has won eight in a row and nobody is going to want to play them in the playoffs.

Cincinnati Bengals (9-4): They got beaten pretty handily by Minnesota in last week, but they're still just a win away from clinching the AFC North title. What a surprise that is.

New England Patriots (8-5): The Pats are only one game up on the Dolphins and Jets right now, but are widely regarded as the best team in the AFC East. They've hit some bumps in the road this season, but they should be the fourth seed when everything is said and done.

Denver Broncos (8-5): The Broncos would be the fifth seed if the season ended today.2010 NFL playoff football sports tickets NFL

Nfl Tickets - Week 14 Observations Posted By: Brent Warnken

Here are some things that stood out to me in Week 14 of the 2009 NFL season.

Josh Cribbs is one of the most dynamic players in the league. I know it's been a tough season in Cleveland, but people should be lining up to get NFL tickets just to see this guy. Cribbs made two huge plays that essentially won the game for the Browns on Thursday night against the reigning champion Pittsburgh Steelers. He was asking for a new contract before this season started and he better get one this offseason. Cribbs is dangerous as a returner, runner and receiver. Find more ways to get the ball in his hands.

Jamaal Charles is auditioning for a permanent spot in the starting lineup. The Kansas City running back has been electric since Larry Johnson was benched and subsequently released. Charles has averaged more than 80 yards rushing per game since the Chiefs' bye week and is starting to silence questions about his ability to be a lead back. He's not the biggest guy, but neither is Chris Johnson. He's been impressive.

The Vikings could be the best team in the NFL.NFL sports tickets football recreation

Sports Betting - A Guide To Sports Betting Online Posted By: Troy Truman

Sports betting is the act of making a bet on who someone thinks will win at a sporting event. Many sports can have bets placed on the outcomes of their events including, basketball, football, base, soccer, hockey, horse racing, boxing, and mixed martial arts. Bets can be made online or in person at a location known as a sportsbook. In the United States, sportsbooks must be authorized to operate legally otherwise it is considered an illegal operation in the eyes of the US government.

With the invention of the internet and with it being accessible to so many homes all around the world, online sports betting has become quite popular. Actually, it has become more popular than the more traditional sportsbook betting, which usually takes place inside a casino, as people can access an online sports betting operation easily and without ever leaving the house. Online sportsbooks have cropped up everywhere, and there are now thousands of places in which a professional or casual player can make a bet on a sporting event. Since most online sportsbooks are located outside of the United States, that has left the legality of online betting and gambling rather vague.sports betting online

Sport Betting - A Look At Betting On Sports Posted By: Troy Truman

Sport betting involves placing a bet on who the person making the wager thinks will win in a sporting event. There are many sporting events which can be bet on including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, horse racing, boxing, and mixed martial arts. These kinds of bets can be made either in person or online. If done in person, at a physical location, the place that conducts the betting is called a sportsbook. In the US, all 150 authorized sportsbooks are located in Nevada. With online sport betting, the bookkeeper can be located anywhere in the world, as can the people placing the bets.

After deciding to get into the world of sport betting, the first thing to look at will be the odds, which show the probability of a sporting event turning out one way or the other. When betting on a sport in Europe, the odds are shown using a decimal format. In the United Kingdom, the odds are shown in a fractional format. In the United States, the odds are shown in a moneyline format.sport betting

Nfl Week 16 Waiver-wire Pickups | Nfl Football Betting Posted By: sports betting

Sportsbook - NFL Week 16 Waiver-Wire Pickups: It's all about the running game this week on our fantasy football waiver-wire pickups. A few notable runners popped out last weekend, but that is about it for waivers as we head into the Super Bowl for many fantasy football leagues.

Below we have the top players you might want to pay attention to on the wire.
Running Backs

Jerome Harrison (Browns)

You wouldn't think a running back that just had the third-highest single-game rushing total ever (with three touchdowns to boot) would be on fantasy football waiver wires, but Jerome Harrison may be available in your league.

A few weeks ago Harrision's name started popping up again as a fantasy relevant name because Jamal Lewis was officially announced as being done for the season. Since the Browns still had the Chiefs and Raiders on their schedule, it only made sense to grab Harrison off the wire.

Then, on Thursday night football in Week 14, Harrison saw rookie Chris Jennings take the majority of touches.
Many fantasy owners gave up on Harrison once more and probably cut him going into this week.NFL Week 16 Waiver-Wire Pickups Fantasy Football Player
