Mellieha And Its Sanctuary Posted By: Mr Angelo Xuereb

One of the most particular villages in the northern part of Malta is Mellieha, a locality which boasts a variety of landscapes and which offers so many different activities to its visitors, both Maltese and foreigners. Having a history which extends back to prehistoric times, Mellieha is a village which attracts religious people, history scholars, countryside enthusiasts, as well as fun-loving people who just want to relax and enjoy the beautiful beach of Ghadira. Listed by the European Union as a "European Destination of Excellence", Mellieha truly deserves a visit.

Mellieha was always a remote village, cut off from the rest of the island. In fact, up to the British period the nearest large locality would have been Mosta, a town situated in the central part of the island. According to the scanty records available, Mellieha was not much populated in the 1400s, mainly because of corsair raids and fear of attacks. In spite of this people were still attracted to the area due to its fertile land.AX Hotels Malta Victoria Hotel Palazzo Capua The Palace Seashells Resort at Suncrest hotel in Sliema

Autumn Holiday Hotspots From Hays Travel Posted By: Jamie Hanson

Summer is drawing to a close and this autumn, Hays Travel have plenty of cheap holidays for sale. But where is still hot in October? That's a question the experts as Hays Travel are often asked. Happily, they've put together this handy guide of where you can still expect sunshine in September and October.

The Red Sea: Egypt's desert climate means that even the winters are warm and dry, so good weather in autumn is no problem here. Stay in an all-inclusive hotel on one of the coastline's most beautiful beaches. Try diving and snorkelling - this region has some of the world's most beautiful coral reefs. Choose Hurghada or Sharm el Sheikh for busy nightlife, or head to Marsa Alam or Taba for something a little more chilled.

Cyprus: The legendary birthplace of Aphrodite is in the Mediterranean, but it's not all that far away from Egypt. It's southerly position means it's soaked in sunshine and long, languid days way into September and October. Choose from quaint guest houses and all-out luxury hotels. Stay in Paphos for lots of history and the bustling harbour, or head to Ayia Napa for the nightlife.Autumn Holiday Hotspots Hays Travel

How World Events Can Change Travel Trends Posted By: Henry Ashworth

For those with the money to travel and choose pretty much whatever destination they like, some well known tourist hotspots have come off their shortlists in recent times.

Just recently for example new figures have shown that since the civil protests against the Greek austerity measures being introduced by their government to try and solve their debt crises, bookings for Greek islands like Corfu and Crete have fallen 15% compared to the same time a year ago.

And it's not just Greece where domestic events have turned away holidaymakers - Turkey has become a holiday favourite recently as prices have been low - but so far this year the number of bookings has gone decidely downwards.

Part of this is down to prices. Turkey benefitted from being deemed among the new low cost destinations for a family holiday - but last year as a Post Office Travel Services survey showed, prices have been rising while Spain and Portugal had dropped theirs.

Is it the economy that has seen Turkey experiencing a drop in bookings?Greece Greek Islands Malta Corfu Crete civil unrest debt crises

British Isles Gloom Is Maltese Delight Posted By: Henry Ashworth

This last winter the UK experienced her coldest December for decades and it resulted in a rush for holidays for warmer climes, with the Mediterranean island of Malta getting a good number of bookings for January and February, along with more advanced bookings for the summer than the previous two years.

It was welcome news for the island which has seen in common with other destinations a slow down of tourist arrivals since the economic crisis started in 2008.

Despite the economic outlook for the UK being for slow growth in 2011, and there still being uncertainty over job security in the public sector especially, the weather was bad enough for many to throw caution to the wind and investigate the costs of a Malta holiday in the coming months.

And they might be surprised at just how reasonable it can be, and just why so many UK tourists return to the island time and again.weather climate environment tourism Malta

Property In Malta ' Posted By: luca lentini

Purchasing or renting property in a foreign country can be a tedious and time-consuming process. With the help of a local real estate agent however, there is no reason for this to happen. Malta offers a good number of agents from large, well-established Real Estate Agents to one-man entities. No matter of your choice, these can guide you on the smoothest and fastest route to take, whilst also acting as your intermediaries with related third parties. Obviously the longer established and larger companies are in a better position to offer a wider choice of properties and possibly more professional advice. In the meantime here are some useful facts and information to give you a better idea of the property market in Malta and how to go about it.

Rentals

Over the last few years Malta has seen a big increase in the demand for property rentals. Seeing such investment potential, many have invested in such buy-to-let properties and Malta now boasts of a very good selection of property available to let on long and short term.

Rental rates vary depending on location, type of property, standard of furnishings and length of tenancy.malta luxury real estate malta luxury properties malta home

Conflicts Hit Turkish Holidays Bookings Posted By: Henry Ashworth

With more holiday destinations to choose from than ever, Turkey has become a holiday favourite recently as prices have been low - but so far this year the number of bookings has gone decidely downwards.

Part of this is down to prices. Turkey benefitted from being deemed among the new low cost destinations for a family holiday - but last year as a Post Office Travel Services survey showed, prices have been rising while Spain and Portugal had dropped theirs.

Is it the economy that has seen Turkey experiencing a drop in bookings? Given the number of job losses in the UK's public sector which employs six million people and nervousness about future prospects for many it could be a factor, but doesn't explain why bookings for Malta holidays for example haven't had similar drop.

But the reason why bookings are down more for Turkey than destinations like Malta is more likely to be down to politics, and what is happening in the world, coupled with Turkey's geographical location.Turkey Malta Sliema Middle East Valletta Turkish holidays

Malta Hotels - Moving With The Times Posted By: Henry Ashworth

The last twelve months has been overall disappointing for the hotels industry - after years of increased occupancy they have been hit by the recession that has caused business people and families to cut back on their overseas trips.

Business travel to Malta has been particularly harsh on the island's hotels - the number of business people visiting the island in June for example was a third down on the same month a year earlier.

And although the drop hasn't been as big for the number of tourists taking holidays in Malta immediately after the banking crises, it has still been a significant fall which has further impacted the occupancy rates for the Malta hotels.

But some hotels in Malta are responding to the drop in their occupancy rates by adapting their traditional ways of operating.

In the past hotels have either received direct bookings, often from the business sector, and in recent years via travel companies like expedia, and taken block bookings from tour operators across Europe who have then packaged accommodation and flights for holidays in Malta for tourists.cheap family holidays Malta hotels hotel reviews Malta domain names

New Malta Route For Irish Holidaymakers Posted By: Henry Ashworth

People in Northern Ireland who enjoy their sunshine holidays have been given the opportunity of low cost flights to one of Europe's top destinations this year, with the launch of easyJet's service to the popular Mediterranean island of Malta.

The new cheap flights to Malta will fly twice a week, on Tuesdays departing Belfast at 14.50 local time with the same departure time on Saturdays. An easyJet spokesman told a Northern Ireland newspaper:

'We're delighted to be launching this new route to Malta, which is a popular destination for leisure and business travellers, and strengthens easyJet's existing destinations from Northern Ireland,' and added

'The island has a rich history that is evident in its stunning architecture. For today's visitors, there is also the obvious attraction of clear blue waters and dry, warm summers.'

The attractions of holidays in Malta should ensure the new route is a success, and the airline helped pioneer cheap flights to Malta a few years ago after Ryanair became the first low cost carrier to offer routes from the UK and Ireland to the island, helping to revive the tourist industry.Belfast cheap flights easyJet Malta budget airlines

Maltese Holiday Destinations In 2011 Posted By: Henry Ashworth

The Republic of Malta consists of an archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. Malta is one of the world's smallest and most densely populated countries with around 420,000 people in an area less than 200 square miles.

The two official spoken and written languages are Maltese and English. Catholicism is the official and dominant religion.

Mellieha, St. Paul's Bay, St. Julian's and Valletta are historically four of the most popular Maltese holiday destinations. Projections for 2011 look very promising for these areas. Each of these towns brings a unique appeal to Malta as a whole. Nearly every resort on Malta has a reputation of excellence.

Mellieha

The large village of Mellieha is located in the northwestern part of Malta; it is home to about 7,500 people. It is a very popular holiday destination during the summer months. Mellieha received the 2009 European Destination of Excellence title.

The 1980 film Popeye was filmed in Mellieha and the fictional town of Sweethaven still stands today. The original town was built using several thousand wooden planks, 8 tons of nails, and 2,000 gallons of brightly colored paint.Malta Mellieha St Pauls St Julians Valletta

Top Airlines Winning Passengers With Good Service Posted By: Henry Ashworth

One of Europe's top holiday destinations, Malta's tourism industry was saved by the entry into the market of budget airlines, turning a worsening position just a few years ago to an island that has a vibrant tourism sector today.

With higher airfares than competitors in the Mediterranean the number of holidays to Malta had been declining for some years, but eventually the authorities gave in to the inevitable and allowed Ryanair to start flights to Malta - and the island hasn't looked back since.

Other airlines are now flying to the island's Luqa Airport, including easyJet and bmi, from not just the main UK airports such as Gatwick, but Bournemouth, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle - with good news for holidaymakers in Northern Ireland that easyJet are to start a Belfast service soon.

The net result of the skies opening up to the budget airlines is a wider choice of Malta flights for tourists, with a choice of departure times and airport, and lower airfares.Malta airlines cheap flights travel holidays

How To Go To Mellieha Malta Posted By: Jason Pace

If your next holiday is to Mellieha Malta, then you need to travel to your hotel. If this is your first time to Malta, then you should appreciate that there are certain differences that exists between other larger European countries as regards to transport.

So you have landed at the Malta International Airport which it happens to be the only airport on the island. Even though Malta is a small country, the airport is amongst the best in Europe. Another way to make it to the island is by sea, the easiest and fastest is from Sicily with the catamaran.

To start with, there are no kind of trains in Malta. So your only means of travel is by bus, taxi or rented car. Furthermore, Mellieha is 24km away from the airport and there are no motorways.

Starting with the easiest, at the airport you will find the major car hire operators so renting a car is quite easy indeed, driving not so much though. Malta is like the United Kingdom - we drive on the left hand side of the roads with right hand drive cars.malta mellieha mellieha hotels travel mellieha

Mellieha - A Ideal Place In Malta Posted By: Jason Pace

Mellieha is among the most picturesque villages in the north of Malta. It can be found on a hilltop between two fertile valleys. Unlike other places in Malta, Mellieha has stretches of open land, fields and beautiful countryside. It is also worth mentioning the breathtaking panoramas of the countryside and the Mediterranean sea, with unobstructed views all the way up to the islands of Comino and Gozo. The village of Mellieha gives the impression of a guardian observing his belongings

Mellieha isn't just beaches and countryside! It is much more than that. Mellieha has an amazing history since the early Neolithic temples (3000 B.C). Several megalithic remains and tombs of this era and other primitive tools and fragments of pottery were found in various localities around this area, primarily at "il-Latnija" - a natural cavity used by several stone-age peoples - and at l-Gholja tax-Xemxija.

Mellieha has also evolved as a popular tourist destination, besides being a quiet residential area to live in. In Mellieha you will find a number of hotels that excel in their service, quality and value for money.mellieha mellieha hotels malta travel mellieha

Malta Airline Riding High Posted By: Malta

Malta's tourism industry was saved by the entry into the market of budget airlines, turning a worsening position just a few years ago to an island that has a vibrant tourism sector.

The net result of the skies opening up to the budget airlines is a wider choice of Malta flights for tourists, with a choice of departure times and airport, and lower airfares.flights budget airlines Malta travel holidays
