Know About Traditional African Art Posted By: Maigida africanarts

When most people think of traditional African art, the beautiful and elaborate masks usually come to mind. While the African masks are a large part of the art from this continent they only represent a small part of the widely diverse types of work. Traditional African art varies in its composition, religious or social meaning, and types of materials used from region to region. In addition to being an art form rich in culture and beauty, African art has influenced modern art in a number of important ways.

Not only was traditional African art created to express emotion and cultural issues, in some cases it was made to be useful. Craftsmen and artisans often made things of great beauty to be functional as well. It wasn't uncommon for an artist to make amazing textile products that often became ceremonial clothing or to be made into sacred pouches for various religious occasions. Artists also worked as tailors and seamstresses, as others specialized in weaving and spinning. Depending on the need and the talent of artist's, creating ornamental and functional pottery fell to those who worked with metal, clay, and wood.traditional african art black african art african art work

The Beginning Of Cubist Art Posted By: Maigida africanarts

Since mankind first learned to make pictures, individual styles of art have existed. Each one has its own distinguishing features. Cubism, or Cubist Art is no exception. Originating in the early 1900's, this form of art is considered to be an extension of the work of Paul Czanne. He is credited with being the first artist to use shapes to represent nature.

The two key artists who gave life to Cubism were Pablo Picasso from Spain and Georges Braque of France. Their work is thought to have been strongly influenced by Paul Czanne. The original concept behind Cubism is to break the subject into pieces, analyze the pieces, and reassemble them in an abstract manner. The idea is to depict the object from various points of view instead of the more traditional two or three dimensions. The result is a more complex and visually stimulating work of art.

The inspiring feature of Cubist art is that several artists have used the technique in a way that was very different than Picasso and Braque. Artists like Robert Delaunay and Jacques Villon are credited with a unique twist of Cubism.cubist art african cubism cubism artists

Latest Imformation Of Noritake Patterns Posted By: Maigida africanarts

There are only a few occasions when most people think about fine china and place settings. One of those is when a loved one passes away and people debate who is going to get Grandma's china, and the other is when a bride to be picks out her pattern for gift registry. Beyond that china and its distinct patterns are usually forgotten about until the holidays or special occasions. While there are a wide variety of different styled patterns made by several manufacturers, many people are biased toward the look of Noritake patterns. For just over a hundred years, this Japanese company has been making china that has graced the tables of the famous and not so famous.

The Noritake company first began its export of beautiful tableware in 1904 after Japan and the United States opened trade. Before long Noritake patterns were popular in the U.S. and the rest of the world. The tradition continues on to the present day and thanks to the Internet it is possible to even find pieces of Noritake patterns that have been discontinued.

The people at Noritake didn't limit themselves to one type of china.noritake patterns keltcraft earthenware microwave

Art is an amazing way to get to know a previously unknown culture. It often reflects cultural diversity as well as religious and ethnic origin. There are many unique societies throughout the globe and art is a way to bring them all a little closer to home. Nigerian art is certainly an excellent method to learn more about that ancient and fascinating region. Like many forms of traditional African art, Nigerian art reflects that society's need for beautiful as well functional pieces. Many of the art forms created today in Nigeria have their roots firmly planted in the traditions and methods of their forbearers. The Nigerian people are proud of their art and artists and it shows in their dedication to the visual, audio, and performed art forms.

Traditional Nigerian art has been dated as far back as 2000 years. There are examples of this work in sculpture, paintings, and the most well known masks. Some classic examples of materials used in these ancient artifacts are wood, bronze, and coppers. Fortunately for the modern world pieces can be seen in countless museums around the world.nigerian art traditional nigerian art modern nigerian art

Modern African American Art And Artists Posted By: Maigida africanarts

Like many artists who use cultural and ethnic heritage as an inspiration for their art, modern African American art often has strong roots in Africa. For many African American artists, the Southern region of the U.S. also represents a huge emphasis on the composition and subject of their work. There is a growing awareness of this unique form of expression and of the artists who create the works. For many years African American art has been tagged as crafts and seriously under appreciated. Fortunately that trend is changing and people from all ethnic backgrounds and lifestyles have more opportunities to view and learn from modern African American art. In order to more fully appreciate these artists, it is important to take a look at some of the African American artists who paved the way.

Henry O. Tanner (1859-1937) is best known for his painting The Banjo Lesson. Initially his work reflected the black experience and his impressions of that life. Later in life he added more to modern African American art with his works of religious influence. Mr. Tanner made several trips to the Holy Land to find inspiration for his art.modern african american art african american art african american painting

Important Artists In Black Art Painting Posted By: Maigida africanarts

Since its conception, art in all of its various forms has been created for the sole purpose of the artist describing for the world his or her personal visions of a person, event, or place. As a result visual works of art leave the viewer with an impression of an extreme emotion. Whether that feeling is joy or the deepest pits of despair, the artist has done their job if something of their reality shows through their work. Painters of all races and ethnic backgrounds can surely relate to the starving artist theory. But for black artist the struggle has been a little more intense. Not only in the U.S. as the children of freed slaves, but unfortunately in their mother continent of Africa, Black American artists have faced discrimination and censorship. Fortunately both sets of unique, gifted artists are beginning to see some of the attention and praise they deserve. Black art painting is finally being seen for the huge contribution to history and the art world that it is.

Both sides of the world have produced amazingly gifted artists.black american artists african american artists black art painting

Traditional Forms Of Ife Art Posted By: Maigida africanarts

When one considered the sheer breadth and size of the African continent it is easy to see why so many unique and diverse forms of art originated there. Ancient, as well as modern black artists of Africa rely heavily on the natural resources found in their homes to produce their fascinating sculptures, textiles, and pottery. Like their surrounding neighbors, the Ife has long made excellent use of the materials graciously given to them by the environment. The result has been a long tradition of products of Ife art that depicts life in Western Africa.

Up to the present day Ife artists employ many of the same artistic methods as their ancestors. Fortunately for them and the world, many of the ancient artifacts are being used as blueprints for modern artists and their influence is tremendous in the current Ife society.

Ife art is a diverse collection of many different art forms. Ancient and modern artists of this region alike often use terra cotta clay, bronze, and granite in their work. Quartz is seen used to create primarily religious pieces.Ife art Ife school modern black artists

Glance Of Contemporary African Art Posted By: Maigida africanarts

While many people are familiar with traditional African art, the world of contemporary African art is widely unrecognized. Part of the problem is the academic world's fascination with the ancient, traditional forms of art, therefore making it difficult for modern artists' to find a market for their work. When contemporary African art is noticed, those works tend to receive high praise and sell for high prices.

Like any group of artists, African artists are diverse crowd that create visual art totally unique to their personal vision. Even with that understanding, there are a few common artistic themes that are prevalent in contemporary African art.

The first popular theme among African artists is sculpture. Three dimensional works tend to be more widely used than two dimensional. This emphasis is actually seen throughout the history of African art. The three dimensional can also be seen in paintings and textiles. It isn't uncommon to see a design painted onto a house where the viewer must walk around the entire work to view the total design. Textiles become three dimensional when the cloth has been woven to display ceremonial designs or are elaborately decorated.contemporary african art african art modern african artists

Have A Brief Information About African Paintings Posted By: Maigida africanarts

African Painting

To say that African painting is complex and diverse is an understatement. To be ironically referred to the Dark Continent, this region has produced some of the most visually stunning and emotionally moving pieces of art the world has ever seen. Both in the past and in the current African art world, the people of this part of the globe are famous for their thought provoking depictions of their lives. As similar as many paintings may be in subject matter, they are incredibly diverse in theme and composition. Some display the despair of a sometimes chaotic political climate while others offer a refreshing look at life in such a natural, beautiful environment.

One of the most famous forms of African painting is the amazing works that have been found created on rock. The carvings and paintings discovered are considered to be the oldest form of art on the continent. While many of these unique African paintings date to prehistoric times, the tradition lives on to the present day. Many are thought to depictions of sacred gods or deities and are images of creatures that have both human and animal traits and characteristics.african painting african art african art pictures buy art work online

Details Of Traditional Yoruba Art Posted By: Maigida africanarts

Yoruba Art

Africa is a continent that is rich in tradition, history, and still maintains a sense of the mysterious. Throughout the centuries, its diverse and creative people have made some of the most unique and beautiful pieces of art the world has ever seen. Regardless of the medium chosen, African art depicts the fascinating culture from which it came. In the case of Yoruba art, this African tradition is continued and embraced. While staying true to the practices of their ancestors, artists today still make amazing examples of beadwork, sculpture, and textiles, as well as metalwork and woodcarving.

Yoruba art in its sculpture form began around the 12th century, as far as historians can tell. At this juncture the material of choice was terracotta clay. After a couple of hundred years the art form developed into magnificent bronze art that often depicted kings or gods. The Yoruba invented an ingenious way to create their molds for the sculpture using beeswax and clay. After the clay mold was filled with bronze and had hardened, the artist broke the clay from the bronze and finished his masterpiece.Yoruba art contemporary Yoruba art Modern Yoruba art

The Origins Of Fighting With Your Teenager Posted By: Dr. Noel Swanson

Your child has entered the teenage years. You enjoyed the first thirteen years of your child's life. You worried about them every day. You changed so many diapers during their early years and watched with a smile on your face as their team placed first in the sixth grade soccer championship. You guided them through the struggles in life such as bruised shins and taking their first test at school.

Those years must have been the most difficult, right? They were totally dependent upon you and that took a great deal of your energy. Shouldn't it be easier now that they are teenagers? They are more independent and don't need your help in every situation. They can also help you around the house and in the garden. They can take care of themselves if you want a night out on the town. You can converse with them about subjects you will both enjoy, right?

So what goes wrong when they hit that 13th Birthday??? In many cultures they would now be considered adults - old enough to marry, old enough to sit in the village council to listen to the debates with the elders.parenting adoption family teenagers aspergers
