What Is Inflammatory Bowel Disease? Symptoms, Diagnosis And Treatment Posted By: Aline Heller

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) refers to conditions wherein the intestines, either the small or large intestines, become red and swollen. Symptoms of IBD include acute or persistent abdominal pain, diarrhea with or without bleeding, sudden weight loss, rectal bleeding, skin problems, fever, and pain in the joints. The two most common forms of IBD are ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.

Ulcerative colitis affects the lining of the large intestines exposed to the stool. It is characterized by swelling and tiny open sores on this intestinal lining. If the ulcers worsen, they can lead to the formation of holes on the intestinal wall, which would lead to the leaking of the contents of the large intestine into the abdominal cavity or the blood. This would result to severe infection needing immediate surgery.

On the other hand, Crohn's disease usually affects the last and first parts of the small intestine, although it can appear anywhere on the digestive tract. The swollen portions appear in patches, interspersed among normal tissues. The swelling and the scar tissue produced by the swelling leads to a thickening of the intestinal wall, which then, results in the narrowing of the passageway for the food to be digested.inflammatory bowel disease ulcerative colitis Crohn's disease digestive system intestines

Increasing Your Knowledge Of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Posted By: Norah Swank

Crohn's disease. Ulcerative colitis. Are you familiar with these terms? Yes? No? Maybe? Some have encountered such terms but don't really know exactly what they mean. Most of us don't even have a clue what kind of diseases these are. I hope you understand this is not a trivial issue since many of our kids today are suffering from these. And it's our prime responsibility as adults to acknowledge what they're going through and help them deal with it.

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are chronic bowel conditions characterized by an inflamed colon or gastrointestinal tract. Both of these diseases are generally referred to as an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). With Crohn's disease more typically affecting the large intestine or colon, while ulcerative colitis affects the linings of the gastrointestinal tract. Given the mystery behind these problems, let's see if we can't provide answers to common questions that may come to mind, okay?

Question: How rare or common is this type of disease?
Answer: While it only affects around a million of people in the US, the numbers are increasing. In fact, statistics show the rate of incident of the disease among children has doubled in the last 15 years.inflammatory bowel disease <a href="http://www.articlesnatch.com/topic/Crohn"s+disease" rel="tag">Crohn"s disease

An Accutane Lawsuit Is Often The Only Option Former Patients Have When They Need Financial Help Posted By: Roger Design

Anyone that has ever had to deal with severe acne knows that it's embarrassing and would like to find a legitimate way to treat the problem. In the early 1980s, Accutane was released on the market and was advertised to be that treatment. Because Accutane proved to be effective for some patients, it became widely prescribed and eventually an estimated 16 million people used the medication. But just a few years after it was released, studies began to surface that concerned many in the medical community. Those studies started to indicate that by using Accutane, patients were putting themselves at a much greater risk for inflammatory bowel diseases.
As the research continued, it became evident that these Accutane side effects were real and while it took some time, in 2009 it was taken off the market by Roche Pharmaceuticals. Had these patients known about the higher risk for conditions like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, most would have chosen another treatment for their acne rather use a drug that could cause such painful long term issues. Because there weren't adequate Accutane warnings provided by Roche Pharmaceuticals, many former patients have decided to file an Accutane lawsuit.Accutane lawsuit Colitis Disease Crohns Colitis Crohns Disease Treatment

Countless people have been detrimentally affected by the usage of an FDA approved drug that was designed for treating chronic and persistent acne called Accutane. Many of these people experienced severe and damaging side effects that permanently altered their lives and damaged their health and well being. Due to the widespread and documented, often severe and depredating side effects of this drug, many of these people who have been affected have brought forth an Accutane lawsuit, so that they can be compensated for their loss of quality of life as well as pain and suffering.

Knowing what to look for in your particular instance can better help you to more expeditiously arrive at a conclusion as to whether or not you may be a viable candidate for an Accutane lawsuit. Hopefully, the following commonly asked questions and answers can help you to arrive at a plausible conclusion as to whether you have the grounds to proceed with an Accutane lawsuit. Keep in mind that no advice replaces that of a legal expert that is seasoned in handling an Accutane lawsuit.Accutane Lawsuit Oklahoma City Personal Injury Lawyer

Avoid Being Overwhelmed By The Costs Of Your Crohns Treatment By Taking Legal Action Posted By: Roger Design

After being diagnosed with an inflammatory bowel disease, like Crohn's disease, many former Accutane patients realize that in addition to their painful Crohns symptoms they may also have financial obstacles that need to be overcome. The medical bills associated with the ongoing and indefinite Crohns treatment can be very high and more than many can afford, especially with the continually increasing costs of healthcare. Many suffering from Crohn's disease find that they're unable to maintain employment and that only exacerbates their financial problems. This is something that's completely unjust for those who took the medication years ago without any warnings related to the possible Accutane side effects.
Once someone learns they have this condition, they'll be recommended various types of Crohns treatment by their doctor based on the specifics of the disease. Because there is no cure for the condition, a person will need to undergo Crohns disease treatment for the rest of their life. Patients are generally recommended a change of diet as the first step in their Crohns treatment. This is because overworking the intestines only worsens the Crohns symptoms making them even more painful.Crohns Treatment IBD Symptoms Inflamatory Bowel Disease Inflamed Bowel

Former Accutane Patients Are Learning That The Drug May Have Caused Their Colitis Disease Posted By: Roger Design

When someone is diagnosed with colitis disease and they believe it is linked to their past Accutane use, they have a lot of questions. Former Accutane users were taken off guard when in 2009 Roche Pharmaceuticals pulled the medication from the shelves following Accutane warnings from the FDA. Those warnings were related to potential Accutane side effects, like an increased risk of colitis disease, that patients hadn't been told about for the nearly 30 years the drug had been on the market. These individuals want to know why these Accutane warnings they weren't given to them sooner, especially after learning that the studies linking the drug to inflammatory bowel diseases had been released as early as the late 1990s.
These former Accutane users are now living with painful IBD symptoms every day and they believe Roche Pharmaceuticals should be held responsible for the suffering they're going through. Had the drug company been more proactive when it comes to communicating the risks of taking their medication, they could have prevented many cases of colitis disease and other types of inflammatory bowel disease.Colitis Disease Crohns Colitis Crohns Disease Treatment Crohn\'s Surgery

Former Patients Suffering From Accutane Side Effects Are Taking Legal Action Posted By: Roger Design

For nearly 30 years, Accutane was a widely prescribed medication given to those dealing with severe acne. While embarrassing, even the worst acne doesn't pose long term health issues that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, for many, their use of Accutane has posed those health concerns. Studies done on the medication have revealed devastating Accutane side effects that have since led to the drug being taken off the shelves by Roche Pharmaceuticals.
While some patients are still trying to obtain Accutane from other countries via the internet, the FDA strongly advises against this. The potential Accutane side effects include various forms of inflammatory bowel disease. Individuals diagnosed with Accutane Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis learn that there is no cure for their condition. It seems hard to believe that a medication prescribed to treat something like acne could lead to such serious health problems and that's something many feel Roche Pharmaceuticals should be held accountable for.
This is why many former patients are hiring attorneys in order to move forward with an Accutane lawsuit.Accutane Side Effects Accutane Warnings Colitis Disease Crohns Colitis

Do Excessive Levels Of B12 Cause A Health Problem Posted By: Rona Pettilli

Can you take too much B12 is a question that is often asked by people who are taking supplements to boost their low vitamin levels. There are recommended daily amounts which the medical and nutritional experts of the country have set. The vitamin B12 RDA for male and female adults is 2.4 mgs. For females who are expecting a baby the RDA increases slightly to 2.8 mgs.

Toxicity

The vitamin is actually water soluble which means it is not considered toxic. Therefore, if supplements are taken above the RDA the body can easily rid itself of any excess amounts. You should only use these type of supplements if you are actually deficient in the vitamin. If you think you have a deficiency then contact your doctor to arrange for blood test.

Needed For Energy

Deficiencies can show certain symptoms that can be associated with a lack of B12. Consistent warning signs that can be associated with low levels are feeling fatigued and lethargic. As the vitamin plays a vital role in the production of red blood cells it is essential for energy production.

There are other symptoms but eye problems are not one of them.vitamins B vitamins B12

The Most Severe Accutane Side Effects Include Different Types Of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Posted By: Roger Design

Roche Pharmaceuticals, the company that manufactured Accutane for nearly 30 years, removed it from shelves in 2009. The company took this step after research revealed that patients of Accutane had unknowingly been placed at a higher risk for inflammatory bowel disease as a result of using the medication to treat their severe acne. Some believe that Roche Pharmaceuticals knew earlier than 2009 of these potential Accutane side effects and by not alerting patients to the possible risks, they acted carelessly and negligently. Individuals with a history of Accutane use that are now suffering from an inflammatory bowel disease believe their condition could have been avoided had the drug company issued Accutane warnings sooner and Roche Pharmaceuticals should be held accountable.
While it's good news that future cases of Accutane caused inflammatory bowel disease shouldn't occur, prior to its removal from the market, an estimated 16 million used the medication to treat their acne when it was available. Their continued suffering is why so many are moving forward with an Accutane lawsuit against Roche Pharmaceuticals. They believe that the company's lack of action makes them responsible for the consequences.Inflammatory Bowel Disease Inflamed Bowel Ulcerative Colitis Symptoms Ulcerative Colitis Treatment

Choose Qualified Representation To Support You When Filing An Accutane Lawsuit Posted By: Roger Design

It's common for someone that is interested in filing an Accutane lawsuit to face doubters and those who see the act as frivolous. Skeptics often cite that such legal action is merely an attempt at trying to secure money that's undeserved. This kind of opposition, including from the makers of Accutane, Roche Pharmaceuticals, is often what discourages former patients from moving forward with their Accutane lawsuit but they shouldn't be made to feel this way. There's a substantial number of people who once took Accutane to treat their severe acne that are now suffering from an inflammatory bowel disease and data suggests there is a strong correlation.
Unfortunately a lack of awareness about the connection means some past Accutane patients that begin experiencing the symptoms of an inflammatory bowel disease don't see a doctor right away. They don't suspect anything major is wrong or even confuse their IBD symptoms with something that's minor. It's often not until someone hears of an Accutane lawsuit being won by former patients that someone is fully aware of the risks they took years ago by using the medication.Accutane Attorney Accutane Crohn\'s Accutane Lawsuit Accutane Side Effects

Check Out These Helpful Nutritional Tips For Better Health Posted By: Rona Pettilli

Sometimes it is better to add things to your diet rather than remove them. In the event you definitely do not have the self-discipline to replace all those unhealthy snack foods you eat with fruits and vegetables, eat the fruits and vegetables anyway. Slowly but surely begin to phase the snack foods out when you feel you can.

Vitamin D

Everyone should have their vitamin D level checked at least once a year. If they are deficient their doctor can recommend a supplement to increase their level. Although vitamin D is naturally sourced in many of the foods we eat such as cows milk people can easily become deficient if the do not eat a diet rich in the vitamin. The light from the solar system also provides the human body with a natural source of vitamin D. However, populations that live in the most northern part of the hemisphere where sunlight can be scarce can also be susceptible to deficiencies in vitamin D. People who apply lots of sunscreen lotion to their skin can make themselves more prone to a deficiency.vitamin d diet gluten intolerance wheat intolerance calorie

Keep Your Brain And Skin Healthy With These 5 Phenolic Compound Benefits Posted By: Tom Parker

If you are into healthy eating then you have probably heard all about the importance of vitamins and minerals for good health. But what about the phenolic compounds? These health boosting nutrients do not receive nearly as much praise as the vitamins and minerals but have a wide range of positive effects. In this article I will be helping you learn more about these natural nutrients and discussing 5 of the main phenolic compound benefits.

1) BOOSTING YOUR MENTAL HEALTH:

As you get older you become more susceptible to mental disorders. Fortunately, the phenolic compounds can help keep your brain in tip top shape as you age. Research has revealed that eating these natural nutrients can prevent Alzheimer's disease (a mental disorder that causes memory problems, thought problems and speech problems) and Parkinson's disease (a mental disorder that causes mobility and speech problems).

2) KEEPING YOUR SKIN HEALTHY:

The phenolic acids are a group of phytonutrients (plant based chemical compounds that have health boosting properties in humans) which can sourced from a variety of fruits, nuts and vegetables.
