If Only Matt Cassel Had The 2003 Offensive Line Posted By: Lee Eldridge

I was thinking about Trent Green and Matt Cassel the other day. Green is one of my all-time favorite Chiefs. He was the best quarterback we'd seen in a Chiefs' uniform since Lenny Dawson. (My opinion is that while Joe Montana still had a little slice of magic in him, he was a shell of his former self those two years in KC.) Head coach Dick Vermeil brought Green to Kansas City with him in 2001. That year Green struggled mightily and was nicknamed Tr-INT by Jason Whitlock from the Star. Fans and members of the media were critical of the Chiefs' decision to trade for Green. But that all changed. Trent went on to have a very impressive run from 2002-05. I remember thinking during that '03 playoff loss to the Colts that Green was the second best quarterback in the league behind Peyton Manning. His career derailed with a concussion early in 2006 and he was never quite the same after that.

Matt Cassel, on the other hand, has not been embraced by local fans.football nfl kansas city chiefs matt cassel trent green

Too Early To Draw Conclusions From Primary Polls Posted By: Lee Eldridge

I had written an article in June advising that we shouldn't jump to conclusions too early during the presidential primaries. In 2007-08, the lead among the primary candidates changed often. Now that we're a year out, you'd think we'd be getting closer to knowing whom the GOP will choose as its candidate. But do you remember who was leading the polls in November of 2007? Me neither. So I did a little Googling.

As somebody who tracks polls, I've always liked how Real Clear Politics averages the results across multiple polls. As of November 11th, 2007, candidate Rudy Giuliani was leading the Republican field. And not just by a little. According to the RCP average, Giuliani held a significant 12.4 point lead with 29.4% of those polled favoring him for the GOP nomination. Giuliani looked like somebody who could bridge the gap between conservative Republicans and the more independent, moderate side of the party. Here were the top six candidates four years ago this month:

Giuliani: 29.4%
Thompson: 17%
McCain: 15%
Romney: 12.4%
Huckabee: 9%
Paul: 3.8%

That's five candidates with at least 9% of the vote.republicans democrats politics polls obama clinton gui

Chiefs Still Could Win Afc West Posted By: Lee Eldridge

It's been an interesting couple of weeks in the AFC West. I may be overly optimistic, but I still think the Chiefs have a chance to make a run for the division title. I want to touch on all four teams for a moment.

But first, how about the Raiders going out and trading for Carson Palmer? A very interesting move. Palmer is a decent quarterback who probably has a couple years left in him. And news reports are suggesting that Palmer is likely to start against the Chiefs this weekend. Wow.

My take? Quarterbacks, even veteran quarterbacks, seldom excel in their first season with a new team. And that's when they have an entire off-season and preseason to prepare. In 1993, Joe Montana took the Chiefs to the AFC Championship Game, but did so mostly on the back of an outstanding defense. And in 2009, Brett Favre took the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game and posted a quarterback rating of 107.2. A very impressive season late in his career. But do you want to know what's more common? Last year the Washington Redskins traded for Donovan McNabb who struggled and finished with a quarterback rating of 77.NFL football AFC West Kansas City Chiefs Chargers

European Wide Food Hygiene Regulations Posted By: Shelley Sonnei

Compensation claims for holiday illness due to rise claim travel lawyers.

UK Tour Operators featuring hotels in Spain, Greece, Cyprus and other popular holiday destinations such as France, Italy, Malta and Portugal have a duty to ensure that that they comply with Regulation (EC) 852/2004 on the hygiene of foodstuffs. That means that the hotel staff must ensure that they abide by stringent hygiene regulation in order to prevent their guests from suffering illness.

The legislation is helpful to people who want to make an illness compensation claim against their hotel or tour operator. The regulations determine the duty of the hotel and if they are in breach of those regulations, you may be able to successfully claim compensation for holiday illness infections such as Campylobacter and Salmonella. Experience Travel Law firms will be able to help you.

UK Food Hygiene Laws

The application of European Regulation 852/2004 was made in England as The Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006 so but English hotels that must apply them as well.

The Regulations apply to all catering establishments across the EU whether it is a hotel snack bar, barbeque or all-inclusive buffet.holiday illness claims compensation claim solicitors law

A Balanced Budget Would Be A Good Thing Posted By: Lee Eldridge

I've long made a joke that credit cards are evil. But that's not true. When a person who is responsible with their money uses a credit card responsibly, credit cards are not evil at all. Try renting a car or making a hotel reservation without a credit card. Credit cards also offer a level of protection when you make purchases. For instance, if you buy something online, and you're unhappy with it, or it's never delivered to you, you have the option of disputing the charges on your credit card. It can protect you from many of the possible dangers of purchasing something from an unknown company.

The problem is that many of us do not use credit cards responsibly. When my wife went back to school to finish her degree, we were making very little money. We were basically living off student loans and credit cards. By the time she got out of school, we had racked up thousands in credit card debt. We were buried with it and finding it difficult to dig our way out. We considered bankruptcy.budget government economy credit cards debt balanced bu

The Runaway National Debt Posted By: Lee Eldridge

A showdown is looming in Washington. And it's all about debt.

Just to put this into perspective, our national debt stands at about $14 trillion. According to the national debt clock on brilling.com, the debt is $14,107,455,627,940.78, and the estimated population of the United States is 309,976,811. So each citizen's share of this debt is $45,511.33. The national debt is increasing by approximately $4.16 billion per day.

To put this simply, the federal government spends more money than it takes in. That's called a deficit. When you do this year after year, it creates a large amount of national debt. Did you know that since about 1970, we've run federal deficits every year except 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001? The politicians in Washington sure like spending our money.

The federal government also has what's called debt ceiling. The Congress votes on and sets a national debt ceiling, the total amount of money the federal government can go into debt. In recent years, this debt ceiling gets raised almost every year. Sometimes more than once per year. Last year, the democratically controlled Congress raised the debt ceiling to $14.budget government economy credit cards debt balanced bu

Chiefs Must Continue To Improve Defense Posted By: Lee Eldridge

The Chiefs' defense took a significant step forward under new defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel in 2010. After years of struggling on defense, the Chiefs became competent in 2010. But the Chiefs must continue to improve on defense if they want to make a run in the playoffs. While the Chiefs were comparable in offense to the four teams in the AFC and NFC Championship Games this year, they weren't comparable on defense.

First let's look at some of the Chiefs' primary defensive statistics:
Total Defense: #14
Points Allowed: #22
Rushing Defense: #14
Passing Defense: #17

Now let's look at the final four teams in the playoffs this year.kansas city chiefs nfl football steelers packers jets

Chiefs Must Find Offensive Balance In 2011 Posted By: Lee Eldridge

I want to spend some time analyzing what the Chiefs accomplished in 2010, and what they need to do to improve in 2011. Today we'll talk about the offense. This will include an overview of the various position groups, and the Chiefs' own free agents.

By The Numbers
The Chiefs made some great strides on offense this year. We watched Matt Cassel, Dwayne Bowe and Jamaal Charles become playmakers. We saw glimpses from rookies Dexter McCluster and Tony Moeaki of what they can be in the future. And we saw veterans Ryan Lilja and Casey Wiegmann come in and fortify the offensive line. Statistically, here are some numbers to digest:

Total Offense: #12
Rushing: #1
Passing: #30
Total Points: #14 (avg 22.9 points/game)

It's a little hard to put these numbers into perspective. And I think they're a bit misleading. The Chiefs were effective running the ball, and ran the ball more times than any other team in the league. They were also pretty effective in scoring points. But early in the season they put little emphasis on passing the ball.kansas city chiefs nfl football nfl draft
