Know Your Three Options In Tefl Courses Posted By: Lawrence White

Did you know that Teaching English as a Foreign Language programs are not limited to a comprehensive curriculum where individuals are trained on everything from the English language itself to teaching methodologies? Yes, you will find TEFL programs dealing with specific topics within the genre.

It must be emphasised, however, that these short-term teaching programs are considered as advanced training for EFL teachers. You must present a TEFL certification before you can enrol in these three options. The upside is that you can easily command comparatively higher salaries than your colleagues with none of your advanced training.

1. Grammar for Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate:
Teachers of the English language are expected to practice good language analysis skills. Grammar is an important aspect of said skills so it makes sense that EFL teachers enrol in classes with emphasis on correct grammar in the English language. Besides, students ask thorny questions that are best answered with grammar rules. You want to be well-equipped with the knowledge about such rules for many reasons including sustaining the interest and maintaining the respect of your students.

The Grammar for the program covers the differences between US and British English language.TEFL Courses

5 Online Pronunciation Resources To Help You Learn English Online Posted By: Chris Cornell

How much do people judge the way you speak? Much more than you think. Proper word pronunciation is a must if you are to get ahead in the international marketplace. You could be a foreigner in a native-English-speaking country, or you might have a regional accent that is difficult for people to understand internationally. How can you easily and inexpensively learn English online and improve specific word pronunciation? Here are my top 5 online pronunciation resources that can help you to learn english online.

1.Online pronunciation dictionaries
The great thing about modern technology is that simple dictionary websites now include audio pronunciations of words. You no longer need to learn the phonetic alphabet and translate funny characters to learn correct word pronunciation. Instead, just click on the speaker icon to hear the word pronounced correctly in both US and UK accents. My favorites: www.dictionary.com and www.thefreedictionary.com

2. Online pronunciation courses
You can also find a number of cost effective online pronunciation courses including video and audio. I offer a free course at English Pronunciation Lab (www.englishpronunciationcourse.com) which includes audio recordings and transcripts.word pronunciation online pronunciation

English Language Homestay In London Posted By: matt peter

If you have limited time and need to improve your English quickly and effectively then as a qualified EFL teacher I would have to say the answer to this question is "No!" Why? For two main reasons.

Firstly, many of the home stay programmes in London require a fair amount of travelling between the home and the school. This means a lot of time is lost, not to mention the increased cost of having to pay London's extremely high travel costs. (Even if you can claim it on expenses!)

Secondly, in London (and Edinburgh, and many south coast locations) there are always so many people of all nationalities that there is too much temptation for a student to speak their own language. If a student is going to make the most of their learning experience in England they should avoid this.

The alternative? A homestay programme where the student lives with the teachers rather than a host family, and where the classes take place at the same site. This way the total immersion that a homestay programme should provide is truly met.

A Guide To Tesol Posted By: Monroe Bennett

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) can be a rewarding experience. If you like to travel, you can combine this passion with your love for teaching. Staying abroad and teaching English to the locals there will be an enriching experience. You will not be able to experience the country in a similar manner if you visit it as a tourist.

Consider learning the language of the place where you will teach. This will help you when you reach, and you can practice on your students. They will feel less self conscious when they see you struggling to speak their language.

You should be prepared to commit at least a year when you decide to teach English in another country. Otherwise, you may not be able to complete the syllabus laid down by the school administration.
English Language Learning Tips Posted By: Marianne Jordan

Many people ask the question - How long does it take to learn a language? The answer to that is - How much time do you have? ..

Obviously the more time you study the quicker you will learn. It is also important to speak the language as much as possible even if you make mistakes. The more you try, the faster you will start speaking.

Here are some English language learning tips that will help you to learn English:

English Language Learning Tip 1 - PRONUNCIATION!

The FIRST thing you should do is to listen to and study the PRONUNCIATION of the language. My advice to you is to get this right from the first day! Spend time on this now and the rest of your study for the rest of your learning period will benefit greatly!

Some languages are phonetic, some are not.. Phonetic meansPhonetic means that the sounds and the letters of the words always match. There are international phonetic symbols that show how to pronounce all the sounds in all of the world languages.

Dispelling Myths About Teaching English Abroad Posted By: Sarah Simmons

Going overseas to another country to teach English abroad is an incredibly rewarding experience that many people miss out on due to misconceptions or myths they have heard about teaching English abroad. In this article we will address a few of the most common myths, and explain what you really do need in order to teach English abroad.

You have to know how to speak the local language.

This is one of the most believed myths about teaching English abroad, and it couldn't be further from the truth! Nearly all schools hiring TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) teachers do not expect that they will speak the local language. These schools are more concerned that their teachers are native or native-level English speakers, and that they have been thoroughly trained in TESOL methodology (also known as TEFL certification). This allows teachers to thoroughly commit to the immersion approach to teaching English abroad, in which only English is spoken in the classroom. Many schools worry that if a teacher is also fluent in the local language, they will use that common language to communicate during class, and students may not feel the same motivation to really learn English.teach English abroad TEFL certification teaching English abroad

How To Become A Tesol Teacher Posted By: kathleenchester

TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a specialized course that helps students become proficient in teaching the English language. As the world experiences a huge surge in demand for English language teachers, ESL (English as Second Language) and TESOL courses are becoming quite popular with residents of places like the UK and the US. After all, at the end of the course, there is a good job waiting for teachers, the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world and also the comfort of decent pay.

Here is how you can become a certified TESOL teacher.

The first step is to obtain a TESOL certification. The purpose of this certification is to give prospective teachers a broad idea of innovative and recent pedagogical techniques. Also, teachers are given specialized training on the various requirements of students who learn English as a foreign language. Fortunately, TESOL classes may be taken along with other undergraduate courses of study.

In addition to the above, prospective teachers must also possess a high school diploma. Once the TESOL certification is complete, teachers must gain actual teaching experience.TEFL Lessons TESOL Lessons ESL Training TEFL Training TESOL Training

Teaching English To Young Children Posted By: Deborah Delin

If you would like your child to master English as a second language (ESL), don't wait until he starts learning English at school. From a very early age you can lay the foundations which will ensure that English as a second language will come naturally and easily to your child. You needn't worry that introducing English will have a negative affect on your child's native language ability: research studies have clearly shown that learning a second language does not interfere with the first! In fact there is overwhelming evidence that introducing a second language improves childrens' all round cognitive ability and overall performance. For a fuller discussion of this point, and references to research studies, see the full article: Teaching English to Young Children. If your mother tongue is not English, speaking to your child in English may not be a good idea as it is likely to feel forced and unnatural. Here is a list of practical steps you can take to help your young English learner to excel. These strategies can be used for introducing any language, but this article focuses on English. The author used these methods for teaching her children French, with great success.young English language learners interactive English exercis
