Not Going Down With The Ship Posted By: Profit confidential

By Michael Lombardi, MBA
AND nbsp;
The editorial folks here at AND nbsp;Profit Confidential AND nbsp;won AND rsquo;t like this AND hellip;
AND nbsp;
But I AND rsquo;m taking a break today from reporting on the stock market, economy, precious metals, the eurozone, and everything else I usually write about on these pages.
AND nbsp;
The events surrounding the Costa Concordia (the ship that went aground on the Island of Giglio in Italy) have been heavily reported in the media. Sure, accidents happen. But what bothers me about this incident is the lack of integrity and character surrounding the actions of the ship AND rsquo;s captain, Francesco Schettino.
AND nbsp;
Schettino could face charges of manslaughter and abandoning ship. I wonder what this man was thinking. Where is his character, his integrity? The captain should be the last person off a sinking ship or airplane, not one of the first. But it AND rsquo;s deeper than that. Integrity, in my opinion, has become a rare trait amongst people today. I see it in business and government every day: People say things they are going to do that they never do.
AND nbsp;
Costa Concordia is owned by the world AND rsquo;s largest cruise ship operator, Carnival Corporation (NYSE/CCL). Carnival AND rsquo;gold bull market gold bullion gold investments gold stocks gold buying gold share.

A U.s. Economic Recovery That Wasn' Posted By: Profit confidential

By Michael Lombardi, MBA
Am I missing something? I can AND rsquo;t seem to find the U.S. AND nbsp;economic recovery I AND rsquo;m reading and hearing about in the media. AND nbsp;
We all know consumer spending in the U.S. accounts for 70% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
If the U.S. economic recovery is to gain any traction in 2012, the U.S. consumer is going to have to play a major role. However, the latest retail sales figures for the month of December rose just 0.1% (Source: U.S. Commerce Department), which was weaker than analysts expected. But this is only the headline number! AND nbsp;
If purchases of cars are excluded from the retail sales numbers, then retail sales actually fell 0.2%, which is the first month-over-month decline in retail sales since May 2010. Let AND rsquo;s keep in mind that this drop occurred during what is traditionally a great month for retailers: the holiday season. The so called AND ldquo;economic recovery AND rdquo; isn AND rsquo;t there! AND nbsp;
Digging deeper AND mdash;again keeping in mind that this was during the holidays AND mdash;consumer spending at electronics and appliance stores fell 3.9%, while department stores sales slipped 0.2%. What economic recovery?gold bull market gold bullion gold investments gold stocks gold buying gold share.

Penny Stock Trading Techniques Posted By: Candis Gayo

There is one thing you will have to discover in order to make a fortune with penny shares. There will definately be something needed of you, and without it you will most likely not make it in the penny share world.

You need to learn to listen your thoughts and not how you feel. For instance. You figure out to purchase a particular share, and in less than 24 hours, you're up 40%. Does not acquire much better compared to that.

Right now comes the hard part. You are up 40% and thinking related to selling, on the other hand your feelings inform you "It might go up to 100% tomorrow? If I choose to sell out right now, I'll miss out on even additional! "

Now there is two points you could do. Listen to your feelings hope and pray that it goes up. Or do the smarter thing which is listen to your thoughts and remember it a victory and sell for a 40% benefit.

You would be surprised on how many individuals choose to hold on and end up getting rid of everything.stock trading business finance investment money forex stock market investing

Baby Boomers Change The Course Of History Shifting From High Risk To Low Risk Investment Options Posted By: Steph Olsen

Once again, Baby Boomers are leading a charge. This time it is moving away from generations of insurance advice and looking to create their own path to achieving their legacy goals. A typical Joe Boomer said:

In the late '90s I was in my mid-40s and had two kids preparing for college and I thought I was more ready that they were. The college funding was done and sitting in my variable universal life account ready to go, or so I thought. By the time both kids were in college I was out of money thanks to a bursting bubble in the market that seemed to leave only a tiny remnant of the previous balance in my account. And now, I am in my mid-50s focused on saving for retirement, and it seems like it is happening all over again. Joe Boomer

That seems to be the mindset of many boomers in today's market. The promises of a strong market and the horsepower of compound interest provided the hope of a good retirement, but of course returns have to be positive for the power of compound interest to work.aegis council aegis companies steph olsen stephanie olsen Thomas Agresti baby boomer retirement Low Risk Investment Options

Burgeoning Bubbles & Popping Protection Posted By: Deepcaster LLC

"Last week I was both surprised and pleased when the Supreme Court upheld lower court decisions requiring the Federal Reserve Bank to comply with requests for information made by Bloomberg under the Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA"). Bloomberg simply wanted to know who received loans from the Fed's discount window in the aftermath of the 2008 financial market crisis, and how much each entity received. Surely this is basic information that should be available to every American taxpayer. But the Fed fought tooth and nail all the way to the Supreme Court to preserve their privileged secrecy...

The Fed lent huge sums of our money to foreign banks. This in itself was not surprising, but the actual amount is staggering! In one week at the height of the crisis, about 70% of the money doled out went to foreign banks. We were told that bailing out banks was going to stave off a massive depression. Depression for whom? We now know that the Fed's bailout had nothing to do with helping the American people, who have gotten their depression anyway with continued job losses and foreclosures...

The stock market is a popular arena for investing. It allows anyone to put money into corporate stocks and potentially grow that capital as the companies become more profitable. The risks equal the rewards, however, since the stock market can decline substantially for reasons unrelated to corporate health. If you are new to stock investing, some fundamental strategies can help get you started. It doesn't matter how you get making investment decisions, you must have specific causes of why you enter a trade.

Investing in the stock market can be an effective way to build wealth, but it's also possible to get rid of money. Reducing risk through sound investment practices and exercising financial discipline are important areas of succeeding in the stock market. You need to understand the risks as well as the strategies that may mitigate risk.

Dow Theory

Charles Dow come up with first true strategy for stock market analysis nearly a century ago. Until his time, investors rarely placed great value into stock charts. Today, the stock chart is a valuable part associated with a investing strategy.
What Is The Purpose Of Technical Analysis And How Is It Used Posted By: Mark Dearth

Some analysts and traders believe that stock costs move in a predictive manner that can be determined by examining the forces of the marketplace. Charting movements so as to note patterns or trends that are recurring so as to know when to purchase or sell a security is known as technical analysis. Opposite this theory are random walk and modern portfolio theories, which state that prices are unpredictable in nature.

Technicians, also referred to as technical analysts, believe that the nature of the marketplace is cyclical and therefore the very best mechanism through which to look at movements is via charting. This easy technique provides a visual representation of how stocks and moving averages act over a given period of time.

To make note of any underlying trends, the moving averages of a security are charted over a prolonged time period. This is begun by calculating the average closing price of a stock for a given number of days, say 10. The last 10 closing costs would be added up and then divided by 10, producing an average of all of the numerical values.Technical analysis technical analysis trading technical analysis tutorial what is technical analysis

If Buy & Hold Is Out, Does That Mean Market Timing Is The Answer? Posted By: Robert Yetman

Although the return of a semblance of normalcy to the stock market is prompting many to test the waters again, the upheaval of recent years has reinforced for many the idea that picking what at the time is thought to be a smart selection of securities and simply holding on to it, known as the buy and hold strategy, is actually not too smart. For a few, the sometimes-sudden twists and turns in the market validate the idea that money should be moved nimbly and quickly; in and out of equities, in general, as well as in and out of specific sectors and even individual companies. Moving money in this way is known more generally as market timing, and while it seems like a good idea, in theory, the success rate of the strategy remains largely in question.

Here is a brief example: During the first week of 2008, the market saw a ton of volatility; the Dow fell 680 points on Monday, December 1, and, in a very uneven fashion, rose 646 points during the remainder of that week.buy and hold investing market timing investment stock market mutual funds Dow Jones bonds commodities FOREX IRA 401(k) brokerage

The Three Best Investment Opportunities For The Next Decade Posted By: Deepcaster LLC

"Is the US's financial position hopeless? I've studied the US finances backwards and forwards, and as I see it the US's financial position most definitely is hopeless.

The actual posted national debt of the US is $14.1 trillion. However, the US reports its finances on a cash basis while omitting its unfunded obligations in such items as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and various other entitlements. If the entitlements are included, the total national debt including unfunded obligations would be over $100 trillion...

So what in God's name is the answer to all this? How will the US's finances be handled? There are only two ways that I can come up with:

The first is -- to default, just declare that the nation is dead broke and it can't meet its obligations. That would be tantamount to admitting that the US is less than a third-rate power, a dying banana republic. Unthinkable.

The second way would be to devalue the currency to the point where obligatory dollar debts would be financed or paid off with dollars equal to pennies or nickels.

It's now really a question of timing.Federal Reserve Cartel Intervention Gold Silver Market

Get Silver - Why This Is The Greatest Opportunity Of Our Age Posted By: Joe Albert Stewart

If you're reading this it's probably because you've heard about the rush to get silver that's going on right now. All I'm going to do is tell you the facts about how the market stands right now and what I'm going to be doing with my hard earned cash.

Fact - Throughout history the average price of silver been about 1/12 the price of gold (this is because there is about 12 times more silver found in the earth than gold).

Fact - Gold is going through a massive revival right now because everyone has lost confidence in the markets and the dollar. Gold is currently priced at $1400 per ounce (at the time of writing).

Fact - Silver is priced at $29 per ounce... this is 1/48 the price of gold, when it normally averages about 1/12. Silver is massively undervalued right now and is in the process of making its come back. But gold is also undervalued as well in relation to the overvalued stock market and real estate market (now is the time to get silver and also get gold.).get silver get gold silver gold

Why Is The Stock Market Like A Random Walk Posted By: Gustavo Inez..

First of all, what is a random walk? The classic description of a random walk is the scenario of a drunk man who starts off at a lamp post. Over time, as the drunk starts walking, his veering in random directions make him drift away from the lamp post. This scenario is also known as the drunkard's walk. The idea illustrated here is that each time the drunk takes a step, he moves in a completely random direction from before.Most economists and investors are acutely cognizant of the fact that high yield mutual funds, money market deposit accounts, and general security prices have erratic up-and-down movements from day to day. Furthermore, looking at security prices from hour to hour and minute to minute continue to show these fluctuations albeit at reduced magnitudes. These observations provided the basis for the idea that like the drunkard's walk, stock prices move up and down and drift while adhering to strict statistical properties.Being able to map the behavior of a stock price to a mathematical theory means that the stock price should have certain statistical properties.finance finances financial planning financing retirement planning investing mutual funds personal finance stock market wealth building money stocks in

Opportunities To Profitably Escape Paper 'wealth' Into 2011 Posted By: Deepcaster LLC

"...All told, the Fed has bought $20 billion worth of Treasuries in this fashion, $11.15 of which it purchased last week alone. With this kind of weekly money pumping in place, Bernanke and pals don't need to continue their "behind the scenes" games (like the options expiration week money pumps).

Or do they?

Unbeknownst to most investors, last week Ben Bernanke pumped an additional $11.05 BILLION into the system ON TOP of the $11.15 pumped via the POMOs. In plain terms, the Fed juiced the system by $20+ billion in a single week, bringing its liquidity pumps RIGHT BACK to QE 1 LEVELS.

If you want to know why stocks have rallied in the last month, this is THE reason. The economy isn't improving and the European Crisis isn't over. Nothing has improved. All that has happened is the Fed funneled money into the Primary Dealers who ramped the market.

This is also the reason why the latest rally has almost entirely consisted of gap ups: the Primary Dealers ramp the market and then the computer trading programs take care of the rest.

In plain terms, the market is being juiced higher, plain and simple.Federal Reserve Gold Silver Precious Metals Investing
