Safety Tips For Camping In Australia Posted By: vishu

Everyone needs to follow certain safety tips when camping in Australia or in any other place. Safety tips should not be ignored or you may find your trip ruined very quickly. Be sure to pack a first aid kit to help take care of cuts and scrapes. The kit should have insect repellent, something to help in case of snakebite, aspirin or some other form of painkiller, and sunscreen.

Camping can be a great deal of fun as long as you take precautions. At least one person needs to know some basic ways to treat injuries until you can get competent medical help. Be sure to create an emergency supplies kit. Such a kit should contain as much of the following as you can manage. A map of the area you plan to camp in is necessary. Compass (non-digital), flashlight, knife, high energy food, warm clothing, water, fireproof matches, whistle, insect repellent, and a personal shelter are just a few of the emergency supplies to pack in your kit.

If you plan to stay at a caravan park, you should find out what facilities are available at the caravan park to take advantage of its amenities.Camping Camping Australia Caravan Park Australia Camping

Chiang Mai Dental Care, Thailand Posted By: Richard and Elaine Bryant

Before I left New Zealand to go work for 9 weeks on the Tiwi Islands 90kms off the coast of Darwin Australia, I visited my dentist for a check up. Now teeth have been my number one hazard, brought up in the 1950's. The dental nurse always seemed about 80yrs old, wore a dark brown cardigan, would clutch you around the neck stretch your young mouth with a finger and examine your teeth with a fairy mirror. Then would set to work with the dreaded foot operated drill, boring holes in your teeth that I now have serious doubts were entirely necessary, we the victims should have a public apology.

I was given the bad news and several options to ponder on, the bottom line was, I did want to retain my natural teeth and if so I had to spend a large sum to do so. The sum of money involved was so astronomical that it had completely slipped my mind by the time I reached my car; such is the power of the brain.Chiang Mai Thailand dental care Tiwi Islands elective work tuk-tuk dental clinic

Camping Out In Australia's Outback Posted By: Rhonda Budden

When planning your trip to Australia, think about taking advantage of all the sights this country has to offer by spending your time outside rather than in a hotel and buy a trailer tent for your journey. There are so many places you can enjoy that most tourists don't even think of going to see. The only real problem you'll face is finding the time to visit each and every one of these natural wonders before your vacation ends. But when camping, especially in Australia, it's important to keep a few safety tips in mind to make your vacation as enjoyable as possible.

The first thing to keep in mind when getting ready to take your camper trailer into the outback is that petrol stations can be difficult to find. Even if you're only going for a short drive you should always have a little extra fuel with you. And not just for the camping trailer but your cooking stove as well, since some areas don't like you to use an open fire pit.

Remember that roadside rest areas aren't campgrounds. Many of them allow you to stay only 20 hours, and this restriction will be enforced.trailer tent camper trailers camping

England Captain Andrew Strauss Is Annoyed Posted By: Sarfaraz Khan

England captain Andrew Strauss has said that his team did not have the cutting edge at the third test. "We came to the ground with high hopes that we might force a victory, but the wicket had died," Strauss said.

"We just couldn't get it swinging, and that made a difference. We tried other options but it just wasn't to be." On the fitness of Andrew Flintoff for Friday's fourth Test he added: "Freddie seems OK. We're still pretty optimistic he'll be OK for Headingley."

Flintoff, who inspired England's victory at Lord's with a magnificent five-wiicket haul in the second innings, was wicketless throughout the match at Edgbaston, having sent down 15 overs in each innings. "You don't want to over-bowl him when there's not much help for him," Strauss said.

"Every time he bowls you have to be careful to see how he recovers, especially with the next game beginning on Friday. Hopefully he'll be fine to play."

"It's a little bit disappointing, but we'll take the positives. You always wonder if you could have done things differently, but a combination of good batting and a flat wicket took it away from us.Cricket Cricket Bats Pads Cricket Balls Cricket Helmets Cricket Shop Cricket Equipment Bats Woodworm

Flintoff Ready For Next Ashes Posted By: Sarfaraz Khan

Andrew Flintoff is not taking up too much time thinking about his retirement from Test cricket. Instead he is focusing on the important Ashes against Australia at the oveal.

So far there is 1-1 going onto Thursday's start. It is essential for England to win this Ashes.

"It's my last Test but I'm not too fussed about that. It's more the chance to win the Ashes again," Flintoff said.

"I'm not the first to say I'm retiring during a series and I won't be the last. The occasion's bigger than that."

In 2005 Flintoff was a major part of the Ashes however he has had a few bad games this series and missed the fourth test at Headingley due to a knee problem. Flintoff is confident for getting his body up to scratch.

I've been working with (physio) Dave Roberts, had some batting over the weekend, and bowled on Tuesday. I'm confident I'll come through," he added.

"I'm probably in a better state than I was going into the third Test at Edgbaston. I think I'm more or less there, I just have to prove it.Cricket Cricket Bats Pads Cricket Balls Cricket Helmets Cricket Shop Cricket Equipment Bats Woodworm

Jerky - What On Earth Is It? Posted By: Rebecca Frith

If as a pom like me, you've been offered kangaroo jerky in Australia, you might initially have been (a) appalled or (b) confused. After all in the UK we're not terribly familiar with jerky, let alone the consumption of Skippy. But kangaroo jerky in particular is actually very tasty and, since kangaroo is an organic meat by default, not unhealthy. So what is jerky anyway?

Jerky has been around for a very long time in one form or another. Drying meat is a great way to store it for relatively long periods of time, and so the process was used thousands of years ago. We have records of the Ancient Egyptians drying meat for storage.

Today, jerky is eaten as a wholesome snack by people who are on the go, camping, or just those who love it as a snack. There are many different flavours and meats that are used to make it.

When jerky is made commercially, the meat is heated to over 160 degrees in order to kill any bacteria that might be in it. After this, the moisture is removed from it mechanically. Without moisture, enzymes cannot react with the meat and cause it to spoil.gourmet gift jerky kangaroo jerky

Camping - The King Of Outdoor Activities Posted By: Rhonda Budden

Let's face it; going off road camping with a good camper trailer is probably one of the best outdoor activities, in that not only does it afford you an opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of your daily life, but it also gives you an opportunity to enjoy nature. Also, because camping is a great activity for families and groups of friends, heading out with a camper trailer can be a tremendous amount of fun.

Sure there are many things in life which we consider to be necessities, but that's not to say that we can't benefit from being without them for a while, and in this respect, nothing beats going away in your camper trailer. Don't forget that when you're away camping you can still become involved with a number of other activities such as, walking, fishing, hiking, or even some rafting. The main thing is, irrespective of which activities you become involved in, you'll still be able to enjoy wonderfully clean air.

Over and above the fact that off road camping can be a huge benefit to your health, it can also be incredibly educational.camper trailer off road camping

Staying Safe On Your Off Road Camping Holiday Posted By: Rhonda Budden

Even though it's so tempting to pack your bags and head off with your off road camping trailer, you should always take certain safety precautions into account. Bear in mind that if you head out to some remote area without being properly prepared, you could find yourself faced with a disaster. If for example you have a breakdown or an accident, there's not much chance of someone coming to your rescue if you don't even have any means of communication. Whenever you decide to head out into the great outdoors with your camping trailer, always make sure that you take the following three safety precautions into consideration.

1) Driving Skills

If you're going to be driving a 4WD vehicle amd towing a tent trailer, then you need to be sure that you are confident in doing so. If you've never driven one before then you should seriously consider a 4WD training course. For the most part, these courses are not only designed to refresh your memory and prepare you for a 4WD experience, but they'll also teach you certain recovery techniques, and even a certain amount of vehicle maintenance.camping trailer off road camping tent trailer camping holiday

A Boost In Sunshine Coast Tourism Posted By: Roger Laganin

With the global financial crisis, tourism has been slow all over the world, and this has further affected economies everywhere. Thankfully for Queensland, there has been a big increase in tourism and holiday bookings across the Sunshine Coast. This spells good news for the Australian economy.

Recently there was about a 12% dip in tourism to the Sunshine Coast. Since tourism produces a lot of income for the area, any decrease in it can cause buying and selling to decrease, which can hurt the jobs market. This becomes a vicious cycle, and if it continues can have detrimental effects on an area. Many small local businesses depend on tourism to keep their doors open.

As recently as June 2009, the outlook for the upcoming holidays was bleak. Bookings were low and nobody was sure when this was going to change. Now reservations are on the increase, both for the near future and beyond. In addition, online promotions for Sunshine Coast accommodation got great results and point to many more bookings being made in the near future.sunshine coast accommodation

Run Away Winter In The Tiwi Islands Posted By: Richard and Elaine Bryant

Where we live in the heart of the Southern Alps in New Zealand, poking large logs into the log burner is an endless winter chore. The mountains had a good dusting of snow and it was only mid May, well May can be a bit like that. I knew worse was to come as winter hadn't really officially started.

Throwing on a second merino top and tossing a beanie and gloves into my back pack, I was heading out for a hike in the mountains, answering the phone as I bounded down the stairs, wow! It was the agency I had been working with in Australia last winter. They were not only bragging about the lovely temps of 26C in Northern Queensland, but offering me a 9 week contract in the Tiwi Islands 90km off the coast of Darwin.

Now we are talking turkey! Tropical Islands - Northern Territory - spelt out warmth and endless blue skies.Australia Tiwi Islands Darwin northern territory tropical islands kindle Bathhurst Island crocodiles Skype Melville Island

Moreton Bay Camping In Se Queensland Posted By: Rhonda Budden

So you've just taken delivery of a new off road trailer tent and you're itching to give it a whirl. Where are you going to take it to test out its off road handling capabilities?

Look no further than Queensland's beautiful Moreton Bay Islands. For those that enjoy the peace and quiet of natural surroundings, both Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island offer the chance to get back to nature. As the second and third largest sand islands in the world respectively, they offer stunning, white sandy beaches, clear, crystal waters and plenty of opportunities to escape the crowds with an off road camper trailer tent.

North Stradbroke Island 'affectionately known as 'Straddie' - offers amenities and things to do for all the family. The island is only accessible to visitors in the north; the southern part of the island is privately owned. However, there is plenty to do and see. From safe swimming and boating to fishing and whale watching (from June to November), there will never be a shortage of activities.off road camping camper trailer tent 4wd camping

England bowled perfectly against Sri Lanka on a very English wicket and yesterday batted with such aggression in the middle overs and were able to post an intimidating total of 324, their sixth biggest in ODI's - in a high-scoring Group B clash , the total proved way too much for Graeme Smith and his men, a result that knocks out the host nation.

A superb knock of 98 by Owais Shah was the backbone for England's score, while Eoin Morgan crashed 67 off 34 balls in the closing stages. South Africa skipper Graeme Smith did his best to keep his side alive in the tournament, hitting 141 despite being hampered late on by cramp.

However, the left-hander was left to do it all by himself, as no other home batsman made more than 36, South Africa finishing up on 301-8.Cricket Cricket Bats Pads Cricket Balls Cricket Helmets Cricket Shop Cricket Equipment Bats Woodworm

How To Discover Crocodiles In The Australian Outback Posted By: Graeme Lanham

"This is real crocodile country", warned our guide, who could have passed for Crocodile Dundee. "You're looking at the croc's dining room. Swim in that river and you're gone!"

Fact is, almost all the tidal rivers and estuaries in Northern Australia are infested with these prehistoric man eaters.

Here are 3 of the best tours, starting in Darwin, to see these creatures in the wild.

But be warned. This is wild, outback wilderness country.
Don't ever try to explore these dangerous areas on your own. These salties are wild creatures and even though you may not be able to see them, they can see you!

There have been many cases of people camping or walking on river banks in Northern Australia and mysteriously "disappearing".

1.Jumping Crocodile Cruise.

This cruise takes place on the Adelaide River, an hour's drive from Darwin. The crocs are in their natural habitat and many are trained to follow the cruise boat and jump out of the water to grab pieces of chicken enticingly dangled on string.

These actions make great photos, but I found it to be a bit artificial and touristy.Northern Australia crocodiles saltwater crocodiles crocodiles in Australia Darwin Crocodile Du

Campsite Cooking Posted By: Rhonda Budden

So, you're toying with the idea of heading out into the great outdoors? Or, perhaps you've just bought an amazing off road caravan that you simply cannot wait to use? Well, if you've never spent much time camping and cooking then I can assure you you've come to the right place to find some great tips on making your camp cooking all the more enjoyable.

There are of course many reasons why it's advisable to choose an off road caravan with a built-in kitchen, but perhaps the most important reason is because it means that you're less likely to start a bush fire. Seeing that we're on the subject of fires, don't forget to inspect all your gas lines before you head off. Obviously if you've just purchased a brand new off road caravan then there's really not much need for you to worry about this. However, on some of the older models, it's always a good idea to use a spray bottle with some soapy water in order to check for gas leaks. You can simply spray the solution over the pipes and then look to see if there are any bubbles appearing.camping off road caravan

Beat The Recession Blues - Go Camping! Posted By: Rhonda Budden

Let's face it; not many holidays can compare to a camping holiday, particularly when you go away with friends or family in an off road caravan or trailer tent. Of course this is largely due to the fact that you'll encounter very few limitations as to where you're able to spend your time. Irrespective of whether you choose to rough it up, or whether you choose to add a little comfort, camping holidays are an ideal opportunity for families and friends to spend some quality time together.

Of course, as more and more Australian couples have increasingly found themselves needing to deal with the recession, camping holidays have proven to be an ideal solution for those on a tight budget. In fact, even those who have been born and raised in the cities have found that a camping holiday can provide all the relaxation they've ever dreamt of. Then again, who could blame them, considering a camping holiday can be just as enjoyable as a holiday in the most luxurious of resorts.

Nowadays, motor homes and trailer tents have ensured that camping holidays can be an ideal option irrespective of how fussy you are.camping off road caravan trailer tent
