Can We Trust That The Bible Has The 'right' Books? Posted By: Jo Ann LeQuang

Today, we know that the Bible contains 66 books, 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books. But where did they come from? How do we know that these are the "right" books? Scholars have explored the issue of Biblical canon to help us better understand why certain writing were accepted and other writings excluded. But this is a big question for Christians or other people who want to view the Bible as an authoritative document.

Biblical scholars call this topic "canonicity" or the determination of which books are part of the "canon" of Scripture. The canon is the collection of books recognized as Holy Scripture. The actual word comes from the term for "measuring rod." The canon are the books that are to serve as the "measuring rod" for God's people.

By the time Jesus Christ walked the earth, the 39 books of the Old Testament were widely recognized as Jewish Scripture. Jesus Himself talked about Scripture and the Jewish historian Josephus (who lived approximately the same time as Jesus) mentioned the 39 books as authoritative Jewish Scripture. An official council in Jamnia in the year 90 A.D.Bible Bible study books of the Bible Old Testament New Testament how did we get the Bible books

The Evangelism With Others Posted By: Ed Young

Our church also exists to reach out. That is evangelism with others. We talked about that last week. We also exist to reach in. That is discipleship. We define discipleship as the process of developing our relationship with the Lord. That is what we will discuss over the next few moments that remain.

You know, there are a lot of myths and misconceptions these days about discipleship, about developing our relationship with God. Quickly, I want to cite for you some popular disciple myths. The first one is the automatic approach. Well-meaning believers think, "Once I become a Christian, it is automatic for me to grow. It is natural; it just happens." There are a lot of people hearing my voice who have been Christians for a long time, for many, many years. Physically you are 25, 35, 45, 55, I'll stop there. You are up in years. But spiritually, you are still babies-- wearing Huggies, drinking formula, using pacifiers. God wants us to grow, and He tells us that it is a process. It doesn't happen overnight.Ed Young Blog Ed Young Pastor Ed Young Ministries

Does God Really See, Hear And Know All Things, All The Time? Posted By: Robert W. Benjamin

Have you ever done anything when you were alone, that you would have not done, if you were in a public place, or in the presence of family, friends or coworkers? Let me give you some examples of things I am talking about.

Have you ever been alone while browsing the internet, and looked at some pornography. Perhaps you are married, and you just had an urge to watch a little video, or look at some X-rated pictures, while your wife or husband was at work.

Have you been in a store that you are familiar with, and you decided to shoplift, it may have been something small and of little value, but you did it, and you got away with it, there was no cameras or store personnel in that area to see what you did.

Maybe you were in School or College, and you were taking an exam, that one question has you stumped, but you realize it can make the difference between passing and failing, so you slowly and cautiously glanced over the shoulder of the person in front of you, just enough to see what they wrote for an answer.does god see everything we do does god see everything does god know our thoughts omnipotent omnipresent omniscient

What Goes Into A Chaplain's Toolbox?
Posted By: DuaneMarchi334

To be a successful chaplain requires acrifice, study, hard work and dedication. All of these qualities are needed to be able to serve your assigned community or congregation. I was not aware of the diversified communities a chaplain functions in. Trying to understand the culture and backgrounds of the community, religious, socio-economic and cultural preferences are so very important.

A good chaplain needs to bond with those he or she serves and ignorance of what makes them tick would be a barrier to accomplish this. I can fully understand now why I need to take the other courses ULC requires to attain the chaplain title.

Another major requirement is for a chaplain to understand exactly what is required of him by the organization that hired him. What job duties are required to be performed, how, when and where, how the function is to be done, whether they are holding services before work hours in the company chapel, for example, or being allowed to counsel employees during lunch hour etc.religion christianity chaplaincy advice education review self-improvement spirituality universal life church spiritual growth

What Is Inflammatory Bowel Disease? Symptoms, Diagnosis And Treatment Posted By: Aline Heller

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) refers to conditions wherein the intestines, either the small or large intestines, become red and swollen. Symptoms of IBD include acute or persistent abdominal pain, diarrhea with or without bleeding, sudden weight loss, rectal bleeding, skin problems, fever, and pain in the joints. The two most common forms of IBD are ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.

Ulcerative colitis affects the lining of the large intestines exposed to the stool. It is characterized by swelling and tiny open sores on this intestinal lining. If the ulcers worsen, they can lead to the formation of holes on the intestinal wall, which would lead to the leaking of the contents of the large intestine into the abdominal cavity or the blood. This would result to severe infection needing immediate surgery.

On the other hand, Crohn's disease usually affects the last and first parts of the small intestine, although it can appear anywhere on the digestive tract. The swollen portions appear in patches, interspersed among normal tissues. The swelling and the scar tissue produced by the swelling leads to a thickening of the intestinal wall, which then, results in the narrowing of the passageway for the food to be digested.inflammatory bowel disease ulcerative colitis Crohn's disease digestive system intestines

Part One - Creating A New Church
Posted By: DuaneMarchi334

Starting a New Universal Life Church can be a daunting event for those that are not sure what is needed and troublesome for those that do. There are companies that will help you and there are many documents available (found on the internet and in bookstores) on what is needed to legally start a New Church but the ones that I have seen, do not tell you how to build the Church Membership to a level that will support the Church. For those of us that are just starting out, I have a suggestion.

Small Group Bible Study.
Now let's step back a little and explain why starting with a Small Bible Study group helps. Small group bibles studies and fellowship groups not only contribute to your members' spiritual growth, they contribute to church growth as well. This works for new and existing Churches. Healthy church ministry includes developing relationships that assist with the spiritual well-being of members while growing them toward maturity.

One of the characteristics of church life which necessitates small groups is that every pastor has a personal contact limit (PCL). He or she is only able to minister effectively to a certain number of people.christianity church religion advice universal life church ministry christian seminary culture society

Become A Chaplain Through This Ulc Course
Posted By: DuaneMarchi334

To be a successful chaplain requires acrifice, study, hard work and dedication. All of these qualities are needed to be able to serve your assigned community or congregation. I was not aware of the diversified communities a chaplain functions in. Trying to understand the culture and backgrounds of the community, religious, socio-economic and cultural preferences are so very important.

A chaplain needs to understand at least the very basic concepts of all major religions and their beliefs so they can better minister to the needs of all these divergent communities and not offend anyone, which would be contrary to the purpose of helping others in their time of need. I can fully understand now why I need to take the other courses ULC requires to attain the chaplain title.

A good minister should know who to report to and why, he or she must know the chain of command and protocol of the organization they work for and to realize what is appropriate and what is not. Each organization has it's own culture and tradition and the successful chaplain incorporates all of this in their ministry.religion christianity chaplaincy advice education review self-improvement spirituality universal life church spiritual growth

Creating A Church From Scratch Part 2
Posted By: DuaneMarchi334

When you are creating a new church from scratch, it's important to have a plan and to be consistent. A church is not about having a building; it's about having people with whom to come and share your beliefs, preferably in a regular setting.

These are the thoughts from one who has been researching what it will take to start a New Church and how best it can be created. The intent is to get you thinking about Bible Study as a means to not only start a New Church but also how to expand an existing one.

Most of the early Churches started this way as there were no formal Church buildings in which to meet and hold services and that the teachers, disciples and other ministers were being persecuted in those early years.

PLAN AHEAD:

Have a vision for what you'd like to see happen in your group:

AFFINITY: What people hold in common has a way of attracting and bonding them together in a group. "Affinity" can motivate some people to join a group who would have otherwise not been interested in participating.church christian christianity religion advice society culture universal life church seminary

Creating A Church From Scratch Part 1

Brands Of Marriott International Posted By: vivek

In 1927, secured the newly married J. Willard and Alice Marriott's exclusive A AND W franchise rights for the U.S. states of Washington, DC and Baltimore and Richmond . With $ 6000, they left together with another young couple's farm in Utah, in the capital, a tiny root beer stand in the bustling 14th Road open.
The news of tamales, chili con carne and Bar-BQ got around quickly and prompted a friend to the question of what the new hot menu at the Shoppes have to. Thus, the name was Hot Shoppesborn. He expanded by the in-flight catering at the old Washington Hoover Airport took over and supplied various cafeterias in the district.
To fund its rapid growth, the company went public, and in 1953 sold in just two hours, all available shares. In 1957, the hotel division of the company was founded, the Twin Bridges Motor Hotel , a 365-room house in Arlington was opened. The guests signed up to a switch from auto to off and were then - still in the car - the bike pages led to the room.Best hotels in quito Quito hotels
