Punching Bag Mounts And Hangers: How To Hang A Heavy Bag Posted By: Dave Toub

While hanging a punching bag may seem like common sense to some, there are some important aspects that shouldn"t be overlooked to achieve optimal workout settings and maintain safety. There"s nothing worse than then having your wall or ceiling come crashing down a day or two after hanging your brand new bag, especially if you happened to be training at the time.

Find a strong support beam that you are sure can more than handle the weight of the bag to accommodate both the bag weight and the extra force due to the bag swinging upon impact. If you are not sure whether a beam is strong enough to support a bag, do your research first! Again, if a bag comes crashing down and you are lashed by a chain or hook, you won"t be happy. Also, ... punching bags, everlast punching bags, punching bag, heavy bags

Creating Wudan Out Of Shaolin! Posted By: Al Case

One of the oldest of the planetary martial arts is Shaolin. It was brought from India by a fellow named Bodhidharma, and has been pivotal to martial arts the world over. Interestingly, Shaolin eventually changed into an internal art atop Wudan Mountain.

I know there will be those who disagree with what I say here, but I hold to it, as I have watched students go through the evolution of hard to soft, and the evolution of art from Shaolin to Wudan mirrors what I have seen students go through. Indeed, as students peel layers off the art, so they peel off layers of unawaress, and attain the truly miraculous.

The students just starting out in Shaolin learn to expend energy from the tan tan, to spread that energy throughout the body and make th ... wudan master, shaolin master, emei master, emei temple

Kicking, The Secret Of A Lost Martial Art! Posted By: Al Case

I don't care if I make enemies, I'm going to say it, the kicking I see on the UFC and MMA type of thing is not really kicking. Truth, it is leg swinging, without focus, and it doesn't work. This article is going to tell you why it doesn't work, and what to do about it.

I had a friend, name of Ted, some forty years ago when I was doing Chinese Kenpo. He dressed like a hippie and had long hair, and he happened to have the most amazing kicks. One day he was driving through the rush hour traffic when a fellow cut in front of him, so Ted hit the horn.

The fellow stopped his car and walked back towards Ted, who got out of his car and backed away. The fellow was a monster, easily three hundred pounds, and he dwarfed Ted, and he said some unpleas ... ufc, mma, mixed martial arts, online instruction, mma class

Gichin Funakoshi And The True History Of Karate! Posted By: Al Case

It is commonly held that Gichin Funakoshi brought karate to the modern world. Well, he could be considered to have done so, except that something happened a century ago, that presents a different version of karate history. We've got to give Funakoshi credit for what he did, but was his karate the true art?

I know what I write here is not going to be what a lot of people want to hear, there will be a few people who are going to want to take me to task. However, the story that I am about to relay really happened, it is the truth. That said, please know that I do respect Gichin Funakoshi, he is pivotal to Karate.

In turn of the century, last century, Japan, people, same as people all over, loved the human cockfight. It wasn't uncommon for pe ... choki motobu, funakoshi gichin, okinawan karate, mma master

Punching Bag Workouts' Posted By: Dave Toub

Before jumping right in, let me clarify the title: Working the punching bag can provide the best tradeoff between cardio and strength training "" This was not meant to imply that working the bag would make you stronger than doing squats with 500 lbs or that it would give you better endurance than running 5 miles a day. Punching bags provide a very effective way to achieve both goals in a very short amount of time.

The Cardio Aspect:
To begin, try standing in one place and throwing one jab a second for a full minute. A jab should be quick and make a popping sound upon bag impact. This should not be a strong punch like the cross; the jab is only meant to stun your opponent and set up future punches. After a full minute of jabs, rest an ... punching bags, everlast punching bags, punching bag, heavy bags

Karate Masters, What They Did, And How You Can Become One! Posted By: Al Case

Whap, bam and yippee! We eye the big screen, and we see kung fu flips all over the place in the Matrix movies and we watch pai mai sword standing and grown up girls eye gouging in Kill Bill and we know we have seen the real masters! Smell the coffee, dude, that's a a bunch of actors, and what the real masters have done would put those cinema heroes to shame.

Gichin Funakoshi is considered a pivotal karate master. He brought karate to Japan, and thence to the world. If that isn't considered feat enough, why don't you go stand on a rooftop during a hurricane and hold a sheet of plywood?

That's right, to make his stance totally immovable in every way, he battled the very elements, and word has it he never sailed off to Oz. And, if you want o ... kung fu master, okinawan master, shorin ryu master, ufc, mma

Light Kung Fu Makes Kung Fu Master! Posted By: Al Case

One of the neatest things in all of TV history was when David Carradine in the old Kung Fu television show walked the kung fu walk on rice paper. Rice paper is extremely flimsy, and the bare moisture on the bottom of the foot, along with the weight of a persons body, is supposed to be sufficient to tear the stuff apart. The legend of the matter, of course, is that there is this martial discipline called Light Kung Fu, where one could actually make the body so light that they could maybe even levitate it!

Now, me and my friends would watch David Carradine, Kwai Chang Caine, and wish we had a kung fu master to teach us how to walk on rice paper. Why, we could do all sorts of things if we could only know Light Kung Fu! Bad guys would be nothi ... david carradine, mma master, ufc master, kenpo master, kenpo
