How to Find a Great Australia Homestay Family!

If you're thinking of doing a homestay in Australia, you're probably planning to go to Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne. The big cities are fun, but if you want to experience the "real" Australia, there are so many beautiful and fun places to study and live in Australia that are away from the big cities... the problem is, all the big homestay agencies only offer homestay families in the cities. So how do you find a good homestay family away from the city? And what makes a good homestay family??

The first thing to ask your self is: what's the main reason you want to come to Australia. For most of you, it's probably because you want to study English. So, finding a good English school should be your no. 1 priority. Most English schools offer a homestay service, where they find you a local family for you, which makes things very easy, and if you have any problems, they'll help you to solve them, or organize a new homestay family for you to move to etc. The only downside to finding a homestay family this way is that they usually charge quite a high price for the service. **End Summary** Topics: australia homestay
About the Author:
If you want to find a great Australia Homestay family, follow the points above.
All About The Working Holiday Japan Program

When traveling to any foreign country, you need to get an appropriate visa. There are many different visas that you can choose, depending on the reason for your visit. Recently, in more and more countries, one of the most popular visa options for foreigners to get is called a Working Holiday Visa.

A working holiday visa allows you to get employment in the country you're visiting, so you can supplement your travel funds, and in turn, stay for longer in the country because you're spending less money. Most working holiday visas are offered as part of a reciprocal agreement, so citizens from both countries are able to travel to the other. Most working holiday agreements are meant for younger travelers (eligible to those between eighteen and thirty years old). One of the conditions of the visa is that you are expected to bring plenty of money to live on while you're looking for a job.

Japan was one of the first countries to commence a working holiday program, coming to an agreement with Australia at the end of 1980, and with New Zealand in 1985. **End Summary** Topics: working holiday japan
About the Author:
If you're thinking about doing a Working Holiday Japan and you meet the above eligibility requirements, try working in a Japanese resort this year - you'll have the time of your life!

Tips About Staying With an Australia Homestay Family

If you're going to Australia to do a homestay, there are a few important points you should know that will make your stay more enjoyable. Most people research a lot about the location etc. before they come, but there are also a few cultural points that may not seem important to you, but that could upset someone in a different culture a lot.

It's important to always keep in mind that while you're in a foreign country, you're an ambassador, which means that you are a representative of your country, so that the impression you make on the locals, will be their basis for any future people they meet of your nationality. So although you don't have to try to act perfectly, you should make effort to always be on your best behavior, and to portray a positive image to everyone around you. It may be your host family's first time to host a student, so the impressions they get from you may determine whether they host another student in their home in future or not.

According to Australian culture, you should always be polite when you're in someone's home, and say please and thank you whenever possible. **End Summary** Topics: australia homestay
About the Author:
Staying with an Australia Homestay family can be a really positive and memorable experience, if you make a little effort.
Make Your Homestay In Queensland Perfect By Following These Important Tips!

If you're planning on doing a homestay in Queensland, Australia, and want to make the most of your time there, read these important tips before you go, and it'll help prepare you for the time of your life!

1. Make friends

The first thing to remember when you're traveling to a foreign country is that you should try to avoid making friends with people who speak your own language. It's very easy to get close to other people of the same nationality as you, because you share the same culture / language etc. But if you do so, you'll never be able to learn the language of the country you're visiting, because even if you only speak a little of your native language, it will slow down your learning of the new language a lot.

Also, it's much harder to meet local people when you're in a group of people speaking a different language, so it's important for you to challenge yourself and always speak in the language you're trying to learn. So step out of your comfort zone and make foreign friends ASAP. **End Summary** Topics: homestay queensland
About the Author:
If you Homestay Queensland , follow all the points above and you'll have a great time.
An Australia Homestay Is The Best Way to Experience The Country!

There are many ways to see Australia. Some come as tourists, spend a week visiting the amazing natural sights, then return home. Others come with backpacks, wander around the vast country, seeing the sights and having fun with other travelers on the way. Then there are the expats who come to live and work, rent their own place, and over the years settle into the "Australian way". But the best way to experience the "real" Australian culture in a short time, is to do a homestay!

Homestays are unique because, in only a short time, you get to see what the Australian daily routine is like, and actually get to live that routine yourself. For example, as a backpacker, most of your days will be spent with other foreigners, having fun and doing tourist-style activities. But doing a homestay, you live with the locals, and assimilate into their daily routine - early morning walks / surfing, then off to school every day when your host family go to work; relaxing afterwards with your friends from school / homestay family, afternoon sports, family dinner; spending the weekends together with your friends of host family doing fun activities... **End Summary** Topics: australia homestay
About the Author:
Experience real Australian life by doing an Australia Homestay . We just moved to Maroochydore, business capital of the Sunshine Coast, a couple of months ago. I lived in Japan for 7 years, which is where I met my wonderful wife, and we got married 6 months ago. Her dream is to live in a foreign country, so that she can learn to speak fluent English, and raise children there. My dream is to live surrounded by beautiful weather and nature every day, and have do lots of fun outdoor activities.

Homestaying with an Australian family during your time there can be not only a memorable experience, but also a very rewarding one, for both the student and the host family. It's a unique chance to see what life in Australia is like for ordinary people, and it also gives you the chance to share your own culture and ideas with them. It's a much easier option than deciding to stay at hotels etc., because you don't have to worry about finding a place to stay, preparing your own food every day. So, it gives you more time to let yourself be immersed totally in the Aussie culture and the people.

If you decide to stay with a homestay family, you're able to live and study in a comfortable environment, without the usual issues you might have if you decide to stay in a school dormitory / youth hostel, such as noise, crowding, and having to fight over the bathroom etc... If you get a little lonely, being in a family atmosphere can make it a lot easier for you to get over these feelings, because there's always someone around to talk to. **End Summary** Topics: australia homestay
About the Author:
If you do an Australia Homestay , as long as you take the above points into consideration, you'll have a great time.
Resort Jobs - A Unique Working Holiday in Japan

Many working holiday makers come to Japan to teach English, work in bars, or even land a modeling job or two. But if you want to try something really unique, resort jobs in Japan are the perfect start to your Working holiday! You'll make Japanese friends, improve your Japanese, and if you don't party too much while you're there, you'll leave your resort with enough cash to travel around Japan until you find another job!

Depending on the season, you can work in ski or summer (beach, golf, or mountain) resorts. Here are some details about resort life you should know, if you're thinking about applying for a program:

Accommodation

You'll be staying in large dormitories, with rooms for 2-4 Japanese or foreign staff. All dormitories are single-sex, and some have a curfew. Male and female dormitories are strictly separated. Entering dorm rooms of the opposite sex can be grounds for dismissal. However, most dorms have common rooms where everyone can socialize.

Dorm accommodation is simple but adequate - a working holiday in Japan isn't supposed to be luxurious - just fun! Some rooms are western-style, while others are fitted with Tatami (Japanese-style straw mats). **End Summary** Topics: working holiday japan
About the Author:
Make the most of your Working Holiday Japan - if you don't want to be a teacher, try working in a resort. You'll make life-long friends, improve your Japanese, ski for free, and get paid for it!

Ski Japan - FAQs About Resort Work

Recently, resort work in Japan has become a popular way for many foreigners to ski Japan, and experience the Japanese culture too. If you're interested in coming to work at a ski resort in Japan, below you should be able to find the answers to any questions you may have. We hope you find this information useful!

How much will a resort work program cost me?

You have to pay for your own airfare and travel insurance. Expect to pay around USD$1,500 for everything.

Do I need to pay a registration fee for ski jobs in Japan?

No - as long as you complete your contract, you don't pay any fees.

Will I really need $4,000 for the visa application?

The actual amount depends on your country, but at the time you apply for your Working holiday visa you must show that you have a few thousand dollars available in your bank account. The visa office wants to see that you have sufficient funds to pay for your airfare and support yourself while in Japan. You'll need to submit a bank statement as proof.

Information About Resort Jobs in Japan

Do you want to work in a resort in Japan? In the last few years, working in a resort has become a fun and popular alternative to English teaching in Japan. But it's not all fun and games - all resort staff must be willing to work hard too, especially during the busy periods.

If you are interested in working in a resort in Japan, you should read this article first to find out important details about the jobs, before you make your decision to apply.

1. Hours / Salary

Most resort staff in Japan work a 44-48hr/week schedule (about 190 hours per month). As Japanese companies pay on a monthly basis, you'll receive a salary of approx. JPY90,000yen after tax per month (Before meal deductions - approx. 300yen per meal per day). Overtime work (10pm - 5am) is paid at 125% of hourly wages (and is expected during busy periods). All resort work staff are covered by Japanese "Rousai" work insurance while on the job.

2. Benefits

Accommodation is provided free by the resorts, and ski resort staff also receive free season ski-passes. Resort work in Japan is also a perfect opportunity to learn Japanese. **End Summary** Topics: jobs in japan
About the Author:
If you're looking for Jobs in Japan , resort work could be perfect for you. You'll have to work hard, but the fringe benefits are worth it! Much more fun than teaching or other work in Japan, consider resort work this year.

The Most Effective Way to Learn Japanese

Everybody thinks Japanese is one of the hardest languages to learn, but it's actually one of the easiest! The two major hurdles are:
a) Most sentences in Japanese are structured backwards from English (eg. English: I'm going to the supermarket now. Japanese: Now, supermarket to, I'm going).
b) Japanese has 3 separate "alphabets" (including the Kanji system, with over 10,000 characters! Compare that to English's 26 character system, and you'll have an idea of what I mean), so it's one of the hardest written languages to learn.

So, in terms of grammar structure and writing, it's a hard language. But what's the major purpose of learning a language? It's to communicate, and to interact with the local people. And as a spoken language, Japanese is one of the easiest!

Once you get over the initial hurdle of everything being backwards, things start to make a lot more sense. The actual grammar used in everyday conversation is basic, and most people only use simple words in daily conversation. You'll find the quickest way to learn the language is to meet locals, and speak as much as possible. **End Summary** Topics: learn japanese
About the Author:
Good luck with everything, and don't forget - to Learn Japanese means to meet people, experience culture, and open up a whole new world for yourself.

Understanding The Conditions Of A Japan Working Holiday Visa

If you want to travel abroad, experience new things, and have a great time, but don't just want to go backpacking, because you don't have enough cash - sounds like a Working holiday is perfect for you!

Japan's Working holiday program enables youths from a number of foreign countries between the age of 18-30 to travel to Japan for up to 12 months (18 months for Australians!), to work / play / and experience the country.

The amount of time you're actually allowed to work is vague: at the time of application, you must declare that you are traveling to Japan primarily as a vacation, but with the intention to work along the way to supplement your travel funds. Some officials will tell you you're allowed to work approximately 20-28 hours per week. Others tell you that working full-time up to 3-4 months of your total stay is ok. But most interesting is that the declaration of your plans you make at the time of Visa application is in no way binding, so you're permitted to change your plans at any time. **End Summary** Topics: working holiday japan
About the Author:
Make the most of your Working Holiday Japan - if you don't want to be a teacher, try working in a ski, beach, golf, or mountain resort.
Organise an Australia Homestay Yourself, Or Ask an Agency?

If you're thinking of coming to study / homestay in Australia, there are 3 main ways to organize your trip. You can organize everything yourself, pay a company to do it for you, or a little of both. So which is the best way to do it? This article details the pros and cons of each - we hope you find the information informative!

Most people choose to use an agency to help them organize their homestay / school etc. They've organized thousands of people before you, so they take the hassle out of it for you. However, you have to pay a premium for their services. Expect to pay around $500 for their initial service fee (which includes help getting your visa / flights / insurance etc), plus they also take a small commission from your English school tuition, and from your accommodation too.

The other issue with big companies is they only send you to the "popular places". The place they will send you to will have lots of other students of your nationality... **End Summary** Topics: australia homestay
About the Author:
An Australia Homestay is the perfect way to experience real Aussie life with a local family. The Sunshine Coast, located in South-East Queensland, encompasses all the best attractions of Australia. Think about it - what appeals to you most about "the land downunder"?

Summer Jobs Japan - Beach, Golf and Mountain Resort Work!

Traditionally, the only jobs foreigners could do in Japan were English-teaching jobs, or bar work. Recently however, there's a new trend - working in resorts. Resort work is a fun, natural side of the Japanese lifestyle that not many foreigners get to witness working in the big cities. While staff are expected to work hard, the fringe benefits are well worth it!

There are many kinds of Summer positions available in Japan. You could work in a tropical beach resort in Okinawa, soaking up the tropical wonders of the land the locals call "Ryukyu". Culturally rich, and the most popular beach resort area in Japan, Okinawa's 5-star resort facilities and tropical beaches will leave you speechless. Or you could refresh yourself in the Japanese countryside, working in golf / mountain resorts. A combination of pristine wilderness, quality resorts, and a temperate climate make the Japanese highlands the preferred destination for Japanese to escape the sweltering Summer in the city.

If you're interested in working in Summer resorts in Japan, you'll need to speak at least a little Japanese. The positions you'll be eligible for depend on your Japanese speaking ability. **End Summary** Topics: summer jobs japan
About the Author:
If you're looking for Summer Jobs Japan , try something different and work in a resort this year; make a little effort to learn Japanese, and you'll never regret it.

A Brief Overview of Resort Jobs in Japan

Until recently, if you wanted to work in Japan, your options were limited to English teaching, or bar work. But now, foreigners can choose to work in Japanese ski, beach, and golf Resorts, which is a lot more fun, and a much more authentic cultural experience!

Contracts at resorts around Japan usually last anywhere from 2 - 5 months. Ski resort contracts start in December, and finish at the end of March (or sometimes even a little longer, depending on the snow conditions). Beach / golf / mountain resort work contracts usually start in June, and finish around October (but shorter contracts are also available).

Which jobs you can do in resorts depends on your Japanese ability. For lower levels, there's work in restaurants, or on ski lifts. For intermediate levels, working in a gift shop, ticket sales, pool / beach attendant, or ski instructor / patrol positions are available. And for higher levels, working at the hotel front desk, as a concierge, or a bellhop is possible. While the different jobs require differing levels of Japanese, all of the jobs are in a completely Japanese environment, so no matter what your level, your Japanese will improve fast. **End Summary** Topics: jobs in japan
About the Author:
Have the time of your life doing resort Jobs in Japan - ski for free, make new friends, improve your Japanese, and get paid for it. During your 3+ winter months spent there, you can learn Japanese, make friends, ski for free, and get paid for it!

There are many places in the world to do ski jobs. Canada, the European Alps, New Zealand... but the place I love the most is Japan, because it's not just a great chance to ski and meet new people. It's also got one of the most unique cultures in the world!

On the down-side, if you work at a ski resort in Japan, don't be surprised if, during the busy period (Xmas / New Years break), you're working 7 days a week solid - so you may not have time to ski.
If you're thinking about working in Japan, but are having trouble deciding what to do, then read on, and I'll make things clearer for you about the different kinds of jobs in Japan!

Most foreigners come to Japan to teach English, because they think that's the only kind of work available. A long time ago, this was actually true. Unless you spoke a really good level of Japanese (and even then it was almost impossible to secure yourself a position in a Japanese company), all foreigners were limited to teaching English at one of the thousands of English schools around Japan. Nowadays however, there are quite a few types of jobs in Japan - you just have to know where to look. You could find jobs in resorts around Japan, work in bars / restaurants, or even try out modeling if you're good looking enough!

The best place to start looking for jobs is on the internet. The best online website out there is probably Gaijinpot - they have a huge range of listings regarding all sorts of jobs in Japan. There are also a couple of great magazines which advertise a whole lot of jobs. **End Summary** Topics: jobs in japan
About the Author:
There's more to Japan than just teaching English.
Comparing Country or City Homestays in Queensland, Australia

Queensland is one of the most popular destinations for international students wanting to study and homestay in Australia. Everyone knows Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and Cairns. But there are also many other lesser-known areas international students can come to learn English. So which is better - city, or country??

Studying in the cities definitely has its benefits. Convenience - you can easily access shopping centers, malls, entertainment areas, tourist attractions etc. via public transport. There are lots of things to do, so you'll never be bored. The cities are also very multicultural, so you'll find a lot more people from your own country, who will be able to help you get settled in / give you support when you need it.

The downside to the big cities is there are so many other students who are the same nationality as you, you'll make friends with them, and start speaking together in your native language, because it's easy. This way, you won't speak or learn much English, and you won't make Australian friends as easily. **End Summary** Topics: homestay queensland
About the Author:
If you want to study and Homestay Queensland Australia, take the challenge, avoid the big cities, and come and experience rural Queensland with us - friendly people, world-class nature, perfect weather, and the best opportunity to improve your English!
