The Healing Garden - A Cultural Wellness Center

`Iwalani E. R. Wahinekapu Walsh Tseu Kumu Hula of `Iwalani's School of Dance and creator of the `Iwalani Breast Cancer Foundation celebrated the 34th Anniversary Ho`ike of `Iwalani’s School of Dance and Dedication of the newly formed Prayer and Healing Garden at Honouliuli, Ewa, along with Kumu Hula Aloha Keko’olani Simmons of Makakilo, Kapolei. Both Kumu Hula are welcoming all to acquire solace in the prayer and healing garden. They are teaching health and wellness through Hawaiian arts and cultural healing through music, song, and dance. Their belief that hula is healthy and hula is healing is a legacy that they pass on to their students daily.
Their long-standing sisterhood of 25 years is the basis for their emergence together and joining forces for this worthy cause. Kumu Hula `Iwalani is a cultural specialist teaching the fine art of hula and dedicating her time and hard work to educating the women of Hawai`i about breast cancer. She is a single mother and a two-time cancer survivor reaching out to others afflicted with this terrible disease that knows no boundaries.” Statistics provide evidence that breast cancer is highest amongst Hawaiian and Filipino women in Hawai`i. **End Summary** Topics: Healing Wellness cultural Hawaii Kapolei The Voice of Kapolei Kumu
About the Author:
Iwalani and Kekoolani team to provide a prayer and healing garden for all to find comfort.

How Wall Street Affects Hawaii

How does everything happening on Wall Street affect the residents of Kapolei, Hawaii? http://thevoiceofkapolei.com/index.php. Without going into the boring details and definitions of credit default swaps, mark to markets, and volatility index, I’m going to break it down into the simplest expressions of how we understand things.

Imagine credit as water, and in a habitual economy, credit has its ebbs and tides, akin to people and businesses borrowing and repaying. We rely on credit much like we need water to sustain life. After all, since when does an run of the mill American have the CASH to pay for a car, buy a house, or start up a business? Banks recognized this and allowed people to leverage themselves. Unfortunately, two things have happened. Initially, the cost of living has beyond doubt increased over the years. For instance, take the cost of fuel, an education, or bottled water.

These life necessities aren’t coming down in cost anytime soon. Secondly, the collateral used to borrow money has lost some of its value. This has put worry in banks to lend to people and businesses. It has also instilled fear in banks lending to one another. **End Summary** Topics: Kapolei Wall Street credit defaults markets volatility index credit Hawaii
About the Author:
How does everything happening on Wall Street affect the residents of Kapolei, Hawaii?
Disney: It's all about Family!

Disney in Hawaii...Once a thought, now a reality! Following a November 19th ground-breaking ceremony for a 21-acre Disney Resort at Ko'Olina, the Voice Of Kapolei interviewed Mr. Djuan Rivers, Vice President, Disney Vacation Club and Resort, Hawaii. Over the past five months, Mr. Rivers has been working with area and business and government leaders in preparation for the resort's construction at the oceanfront property.

The Voice of Kapolei (VOK): http://thevoiceofkapolei.com/index.php
"In addition to being a top vacation stop for guests from our other 49 states, Hawaii is a magnet for visitors from the Far East, Australia, and locations all over the Pacific. What are your tourism expectations for the new family resort coming to Ko'Olina?"

Mr. Rivers:
"The Disney resort project is all about family. We start with the family in mind. It's the basis for how we design our resorts. Coming to Hawaii is an objective for many of our resort members, most of who are from the U.S. East coast. When we ask them where do they want to go, Hawaii is initially on the list! From an international standpoint, Asia is very valuable, specifically Japan. **End Summary** Topics: Disney Walt Disney Disneyland Disneyworld Ko Olina Djuan Rivers Kapolei The Voice of Kapolei
About the Author:
Disney in Hawaii...Once a thought, now a reality!
