Exchange Server database files are the most important recovery elements, required to be rebuilt after information store crash. If you can successfully restore them from the last backup and all required transaction log files are available, you should replay them to get the database to the state that existed before the crash occurred. In case of any issues, eseutil repair utility can help, but can cause data loss. For safe database repair, use of Exchange Server Recovery software is recommended. These tools can diagnose and repair all database contents using advanced procedures.

For instance, you might observe that Exchange Server storage group stops unexpectedly. If this leaves few database files unavailable for the server, you encounter the below error marked in the Application event log:

“Information Store (4312) Database recovery failed with error -1216 because it encountered references to a database, 'D:\exchsrvr\mdbdata\PRIV2.edb', which is no longer present. The database was not brought to a consistent state before it was removed (or possibly moved or renamed). The database engine will not permit recovery to complete for this instance until the missing database is re-instated. **End Summary** Topics: Exchange recovery software Exchange Server Recovery Exchange recovery Microsoft Exchange Recovery Exchange 2003 Recovery Exchange recovery tool
About the Author:
Axel Culver has passion for writing Technical article.
EDB Corruption Due to Use of Improper Esefile Switches

In Microsoft Exchange Server, the Esefile is an inbuilt utility that is used to copy files and test checksum. Different switches are used to perform specific task using this tool. This utility can be used on Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 and 5.5. In some situations, this utility may cause checksum errors and database corruption if you use incorrect switches. In such cases, all of your critical data becomes inaccessible and serious data loss situations occur. At this point, to retrieve your valuable data, you are required to opt for Exchange Server Recovery.

The command line format of Esefile tool is as follows:
Esefile [/c source destination] [/x file] [/s file] [/d file page number]
/c Copy source files to destination
/x Test Edb.dll format checksum
/s Test Ese.dll format checksum
/d Dumps a page from file

When you test checksum using this tool, it verifies page-level integrity of the database. It tests at speed of about 1 GB per minute.
In case if you use /s switch on EDB format database and /x switch on ESE format database by mistake, checksum error is logged on every page. **End Summary** Topics: Exchange recovery Exchange Server Recovery Exchange server software Microsoft Exchange Server Recovery Recover Exchange Exchange recovery tools
About the Author:
Axel Culver has passion for writing Technical article.
‘Attempting to validate BBT refcounts' Outlook PST Error

Microsoft Outlook PST is the single file consisting of all email messages, notes, journals, tasks, appointments and other Outlook objects. This file is prone to corruption due to reasons like virus attack, saving PST on network, application faults, unexpected shutdown and other similar reasons. Thus for complete file restoration, you need to use your recent file backup. But in case you observe that backup is giving errors or is not updated to restore required data, commercial Outlook PST Repair tools can prove as valid tools to be used.

You might receive the similar error message while using Microsoft Office Outlook Inbox Repair Tool:

Attempting to validate BBT refcounts
??Couldn't find BBT entry in the RBT (211C8)”

You receive such errors in the log report.

Cause

Possible causes for the above error to occur are:

•	PST file is large in size
•	Outlook is unable to find the BBT entry of the file
•	PST is damaged or corrupted

Note: Outlook 2002 and earlier versions have default PST file size limit of 2 GB. If PST grows beyond this file size limit, Outlook shows strange behavior and PST gets odds to corrupt. **End Summary** Topics: Pst repair pst repair software outlook pst repair repair pst damaged pst repair corrupted pst repair pst recovery pst repair tool outlook pst
About the Author:
I am Axel Culver and right now writing articles related to software like <a href= "http://www.repair-outlook-pst.com">Outlook PST repair and PST Recovery software.
