Everyone has questions about the joys of pregnancy, from morning sickness to weight gain. But many times, they aren't asking these questions before becoming pregnant, leading to times of confusion, doubt, and uncertainty. To avoid this, here are seven of the most often asked questions and their answers.

Will giving birth hurt?

This is a common question among new mothers. And it's one that is understandable. Without any frame of reference for birth, it's hard to determine if you can ˜do it' and survive the pain. Giving birth can be painful for some women, but for others, it's not. Some of this depends on the method of birth an epidural tends to numb the pain and help to make it manageable, while natural birth relies on the mother breathing through pain to make it more comfortable. A lot of this question can be answered by your health, your ability to tolerate pain, and your ability to focus on the fact that you're bring a child into the world and that's worth a little discomfort.

How will I know if my baby is healthy?

Problems during pregnancy are a big fear of women. **End Summary** Topics: pregnant unprotected sex missed periods nausea pregnancy baby morning sickness fatigue bloating symptoms of pregnancy signs of pregnancy soreness
About the Author:
http://www.earlysignofpregnancy.net is the most recent women's resource site from Jacqueline Flynn.
The miscarriage possibility

Copyright 2006 WomanCentric Inc.

The greatest fear any pregnant woman has is the possibility that she may miscarry the pregnancy. While the actual percentage of miscarriages isn't known, what is known is that the possibility increases with age of the mother as well as certain, uncontrollable genetic factors. Most miscarriages occur in the first few weeks of pregnancy and may not even be recognized by the mother as such they can seem like an overly heavy period. But the most important thing to say before going further is that miscarriages are spontaneous in most cases, meaning that they can not be prevented and they're not the mother's fault.

Miscarriage is usually thought of as bleeding during a pregnancy, but this isn't always true. Up to twenty five percent of pregnant women will experience some sort of bleeding or spotting during their pregnancy and not have a miscarriage. But because bleeding and cramping are the main signals of an impending miscarriage, it's important to report these to a doctor as soon as they are seen. A further evaluation can determine if they are dangerous.

Aside from that, there are other ways to test for a miscarriage or an impending miscarriage. **End Summary** Topics: pregnant unprotected sex missed periods nausea pregnancy baby morning sickness fatigue bloating symptoms of pregnancy signs of pregnancy soreness
About the Author:
http://www.earlysignofpregnancy.net is the most recent women's resource site from Jacqueline Flynn. A mother's work is certainly never done. From the moment your child is born to the moment that they can head off to college, you will have a long list of responsibilities to take care of. But there is no more important time that the first year of life both for you and for baby.

When you bring home your new baby, you might be feeling overwhelmed. Can you do it? Can you take care of this little child? Can you make sure that they are safe and sound? Before you even consider these questions, you need to realize one thing: you're not necessarily going to know everything that you'll need to know. Motherhood isn't something that you can really learn until it is thrust into your arms. You will make mistakes and you will make poor decisions, but in the end, you are learning just as your baby is. Have a sense of humor and someone that you can call to make it all the easier.

First things first, this baby needs to be fed. You have a number of options in this decision. **End Summary** Topics: pregnant unprotected sex missed periods nausea pregnancy baby morning sickness fatigue bloating symptoms of pregnancy signs of pregnancy soreness
About the Author:
http://www.earlysignofpregnancy.net is the most recent women's resource site from Jacqueline Flynn. Once a woman becomes pregnant, they can become fascinated by the way that the baby is growing inside of her. It's a miraculous process, the way that a child grows into a complete human being inside of a woman. But it doesn't have to be a mystery that only shows itself during the ultrasound appointments. Finding out about the way that your child is growing and changing will help you become even more attached to this new little person.

Your body changes as the baby inside of you changes. With each new development, your body needs to adapt to protect it more. And as you get closer to the actual birth, your body will begin to shift in order to ready itself for the birthing process the opening of the hips and the cervix, for example.

But what about baby?

At about seven weeks, you've probably just found out about your pregnancy and you're very excited. Right now, baby is an embryo that's about the size of a blackberry or a raspberry. He or she has a beating heart that's very small, but strong. **End Summary** Topics: pregnant unprotected sex missed periods nausea pregnancy baby morning sickness fatigue bloating symptoms of pregnancy signs of pregnancy soreness
About the Author:
http://www.earlysignofpregnancy.net is the most recent women's resource site from Jacqueline Flynn.

Most Women do not realize that pregnancy tests look for a special hormone in the urine or blood that is only there when a woman is pregnant. This hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), can also be called the pregnancy hormone.

The pregnancy hormone, hCG, is made in your body when a fertilized egg implants in the uterus. This usually happens about 6 days after conception. But studies show that the embryo doesn't implant until later in some women. The amount of hCG increases drastically with each passing day you are pregnant.

Many home pregnancy tests claim they can tell if you're pregnant on the day you expect your period. But a recent study shows that most don't give accurate results this early in pregnancy. Waiting one week after a missed period will usually give a more accurate answer.

There are basically two types of tests. Blood tests and urine tests. Both tests check for the hGC hormone. Many women prefer the urine test bacause it can be preformed at home but to get the most accurate results a blood test is required. **End Summary** Topics: pregnant unprotected sex missed periods nausea pregnancy baby morning sickness fatigue bloating symptoms of pregnancy signs of pregnancy soreness
About the Author:
http://www.earlysignofpregnancy.net is the most recent women's resource site from Jacqueline Flynn. If you've had unprotected sex, there's a possibility that you may be pregnant. But once you start having the early signs of pregnancy absence of menstruation, morning sickness, bloating and swelling of the breasts you might begin to believe that you are indeed pregnant. However, the next question is: what do you do if you think you're pregnant.

First of all, you need to confirm your suspicions with an at home pregnancy test. You can find these at grocery stores, retailers, as well as your local pharmacy. For about ten dollars, you'll be able to use a home pregnancy test that's just as effective as the doctor's office testing. Most tests are designed to be highly sensitive to the hormone that is produced during pregnancy, so you can use the test at any time older tests used to need the first urine output of the morning to be able to detect the HcG hormones.

Follow the directions closely to make sure that you're going to get an accurate result. Any human error can cause a false negative reading (false positives are harder to product) leading you to believe that you're not pregnant when you are. **End Summary** Topics: pregnant unprotected sex missed periods nausea pregnancy baby morning sickness fatigue bloating symptoms of pregnancy signs of pregnancy soreness
About the Author:
http://www.earlysignofpregnancy.net is the most recent women's resource site from Jacqueline Flynn. As you're heading into the final stages of pregnancy, your body is starting to prepare for the actual birth. A common occurrence for many pregnant women is a rise in their blood pressure. It's generally not a significant increase, but some mothers can feel uncomfortable with their hearts beating a little harder than they are used to. This happens because the overall blood volume of mom has increased significantly, creating a need for the heart to beat harder in order to circulate it properly. The blood pressure will typically start to rise in the sixth month of pregnancy and go back to normal levels about six weeks after birth.

Some mothers become frightened by this change because it can feel as though the heart is racing or that there is an extra beat but while both of these feelings are true, they are also not unsafe.

So long as you have regular physician care, you are merely just supporting the other little body inside of you.

But there are some problems that can go along with higher blood pressure. Like Pre-eclampsia, also known as toxemia, pre-eclampsia affects about 4-5% of all pregnant women. **End Summary** Topics: preganancy pregnancy trimester varicose veins preeclampsia high blood pressure low blood pressure hemorroids fatigue low energy contractions braxt
About the Author:
http://www.earlysignofpregnancy.net is the most recent women's resource site from Jacqueline Flynn. Much like the first few months of pregnancy, your body continues to go through a wide assortment of changes. But since your new fetus organ development is almost complete, you're going to start feeling like you have your ˜old' energy back. And most women who have been experiencing morning sickness will report that this has either diminished or disappeared completely during the second trimester. Your body is actively changing and you are starting see your body change to get ready for the actual birth of your child. You are expanding to accommodate the growth of your child and the birthing process. At this time, you can start to: Feel your uterus expand it's growing to your navel by about week 20-22 Your nipples will begin to grow and the areolas will begin to get darker (if you haven't already been pregnant before) There will be colostrum in your breasts (the pre-cursor for actual breast milk) You may not be able to digest some foods as well as you once did Your lower body will start to feel the pressure of having most weight forced upon it. This can result in varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and general discomfort. **End Summary** Topics: morning sickness pregnancy preganancy braxton hicks contractions fetal development varicose veins colostrum
About the Author:
http://www.earlysignofpregnancy.net is the most recent women's resource site from Jacqueline Flynn. In the first trimester, you and your baby are going through a lot of changes. Your body has just received the egg through the fallopian tubes and has nestled into the lining of the uterus, ready to grow and develop. You might have the classic signs of pregnancy nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and breast tenderness. But all of these signs are a good thing, showing you that your body is indeed changing hormonally to support that new life in you.

But what is your baby going through? In these first 12 weeks, the baby is growing rapidly, developing the amniotic sac that it will rest in to the placenta, even growing fingers and toes. Within a couple of weeks, the new little egg is known as an embryo and it's growing rapidly. During this time, it is crucial that you're taking care of your body, feeding it right, and making sure to eliminate as much stress as you can.

By the eighth week, the embryo is considered a fetus and it's beginning to look like a baby human. **End Summary** Topics: Pregnancy trimester birth delivery morning sickness nausea mother nursing baby child fetus women woman womens health mood swings fertil
About the Author:
http://www.earlysignofpregnancy.net is the most recent women's resource site from Jacqueline Flynn.
