Is Mark Thompson Really Mining For Gold?

Wordpress Goldmine is an apt description for this excellent 110 page e-book by Mark Thompson. It truly is a goldmine of information regarding the use of Wordpress blogs to provide residual income.

Well written and easy to understand, Wordpress Goldmine provides guidance on how to select a product, choose a domain name, set up a blog, get content, monetize and promote a site. Unusually, building a list is not part of the formula.

Mark has split his e-book into five distinct sections making it easy to access the information and there is a very detailed Contents Page.

The first section deals with the basic process of setting up an effective Wordpress blog, and covers presentation, themes and plugins.

Content is the topic of section two.

In section three, the different ways to monetize a site are covered and here you will find some really useful information.

Blog promotion is covered in section four which makes a nice change as most e-books leave this vital piece of information out. Wordpress Goldmine actually provides details of a great traffic generation system.

The final section neatly ties up the whole process of using blogs for affiliate marketing by discussing mastering Web 2.** End Summary**
About the Author:
For more reviews, information on blogging and to Sign up for a FREE e-book revealing the greatest viral marketing idea of all time. http://www.easyprofitableblogging-blog.com

Chickenpox Added To The MMR - Surely That's Going Too Far Isn't It?

My youngest son has autism. He developed it after his MMR vaccination and whilst I don't believe it was the sole cause for his lifelong disability, I am personally convinced it was a contributory factor. The main cause, I believe, was mercury.

The MMR however is a contentious issue. Many parents refuse to allow their children to have it. They believe, (rightly or wrongly), that to give three live viruses simultaneously to their young offspring whilst their immune systems are still developing is going too far. After all, have you ever heard of anyone catching Measles, Mumps and Rubella (German Measles) at the same time in the real world?
I certainly haven't.

However, it now appears there are possible proposals to add a further virus to the mix with the introduction of Chickenpox. Naturally, I think that really is too much but that's just my opinion. What do you think?

Chickenpox is a highly infectious disease caused by a virus and results in red, itchy bumps and blisters. It usually appears on the face, trunk and upper limbs. It is pretty unsightly and very unpleasant but is generally an accepted childhood illness.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw writes articles and is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic, Autism, Amalgam and Me and Mercury Poisoning - It's Not In Our Heads Any More See http://www.jeanshaw.com

Dogs And What They Can Teach You

I have always been very busy, and apart from briefly having a rabbit and several tropical fish, I've never actually had any domestic pets. Apart from the fact my autistic son is terrified of animals which invade his space without being invited, I personally find them too much of a tie.

If you want to anywhere the majority need quite a bit of looking after. Most, though not all require exercise, are renowned for losing their hair and smell. However, I know many people who consider their pets an integral part of the family and either take them on holiday with them or get house sitters in whilst they are away.

When I lived "abroad" that was a good opportunity for single contractors as it meant they could spend a few days in a "family home" rather than in the company provided "bachelor accommodation".

I understand also, that parents are equally useful as pet sitters as they are baby sitters, but for those pet owners who are unable to find suitable surrogate keepers, the only answer is the kennels. That's if you can afford them as they don't come cheap.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw writes articles and is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic , Autism, Amalgam and Me and Mercury Poisoning - It's Not In Our Heads Any More See http://www.jeanshaw.com

Fitness, Health And Why "We" Need A Rowing Machine

"We" have just bought a rowing machine. It's one of these big fancy ones you find in a gym. My husband decided "we" needed one as he watched me struggle into my jeans.

Anyway I bid for a second hand rowing machine on e-bay and was frustratingly out bid in the last 40 seconds. However, the women who actually won the thing, decided to pull out of the sale because she was "too tired" to go and collect it.

In the auction details it clearly said "buyer to collect" and gave the choice of two locations, so she must have realised how far she would have to travel if she won. Mind you, that may not have been the case. Perhaps, as she'd bid so late in the auction she'd overlooked that bit which is something I did once to my cost.

When I was new to e-bay I bid for a bronze ornament in the final few minutes of an auction and won it. I was delighted with my purchase until I realised it was being shipped from Beijing and I live in UK.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw writes articles and is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me See http://www.jeanshaw.com

Cancer - What You Need To Know To Help Avoid Or Fight It

Last week end I went to a "Pink Party" in my local village, where as the name suggests, everyone wore something pink.

The event wasn't so much a party as a lunch to raise awareness of Breast Cancer. The proceeds went to support McMillan Cancer Care Nurses and very successful it was too.

The local flower arranging society gave a demonstration of their skills and the results were raffled off in a draw. There were home made cakes, jams and chutneys to make the Women's Institute proud, a bric-a-brac stall and various other small stalls.

You could buy a drink and a cake, have a light lunch of sandwiches or go for a full meal followed by dessert, plus tea, coffee, or a soft pink juice, and all for a very reasonable price.

It was a great event for a very worthy cause and I was surprised by the amount of men there. Many, it seemed had either lost loved ones to breast cancer or were supporting someone with either that or some other form of cancer.

There are, it seems over 200 different types and, most scientists agree at least 80% are caused by man made toxic synthetic chemicals.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw writes articles and is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me See http://www.jeanshaw.com

Lack of Exercise - Sleep Walking To Obesity

I have to admit I've put on a considerable amount of weight over the past year and I know why. It's not because I've been eating more, but rather exercising less.

I've been writing another book and my research has had me virtually glued to the chair in front of the computer and only my brain and fingers have been getting a workout.

That's my excuse, but not for much longer as the book is almost done. The stupid thing is I feel really lethargic. I know just a few minutes exercise a day would really energise me and most likely make me more productive. However, I can't seem to drag myself away from the computer and find myself saying things like, "I'll just do this first", or I'll do it "later", "tomorrow", "next week", and the truth is I just haven't done anything. It shows.

I'm not alone though. According to the latest BBC television news, half the nation will be obese within the next twenty-five years. It will cost the country something in the region of 45 billion pounds through health issues and lost work hours.

Obviously, not everyone is writing a book so what's happening?** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw writes articles and is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me See http://www.jeanshaw.com

Autism And Disability - Why Little Things Can Mean A Lot

I have a son who developed autism just after his first birthday and I wouldn't describe my life since as being easy. However, today I was reminded just how lucky I am. Through various non invasive interventions, endless patience and persistence, my son has developed into a nice young man who I can now take most places without wishing the ground would open up and swallow me.

My son is eighteen, physically very capable with a great sense of balance and hand/eye co-ordination. He's now easy to look after and despite using limited language to communicate, he tries very hard in other ways to let people know what he wants and needs.

Another boy I know also tries very hard to communicate. However, he's not quite so physically able, infact he's in a wheelchair. Now eight, he's become a very frustrated little individual who likes to assert himself whenever possible. Unfortunately it is making it increasingly difficult for his mother to look after him and take him out alone.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me - www.jeanshaw.com

Healthy Disability Bingo And The Need To Exercise

On Saturday I played an incredibly healthy game of Bingo. Yes, I did say Bingo!

You see I have an autistic son and at the weekend we attended a Festival of Inclusion. It was a wonderful opportunity for people with disabilities to have fun, make friends and socialise.

Open to the general public, there were bands, entertainers, crafts, workshops, games, therapies and bingo. However, this bingo had a special twist.

Instead of having numbers, the large laminated cards had pictures of fruit and vegetables on them displayed in two rows, and above each row was a strip of Velcro.

Rather than using pens which some people with disabilities find hard to grip, each player was given a set of laminated cards. On one end of each colourful card there was a smiley face and a small piece of Velcro on the back.

The idea was to ensure the players knew which way the card had to go so the pieces of Velcro would meet. It was ingeneous and enabled those people with limited movement to participate.

The "caller" had a box full of large laminated cards displaying a picture of either a fruit or vegetable together with its name.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw writes articles and is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me See http://www.jeanshaw.com

Weight Gain And The Summer Dilemma

Weight and the weather have one thing in common -inconsistency. I've yet to find anyone who is content with either. People are either too fat, too thin, too hot or too cold.

I've always been "cuddly" and at various times in my life have been called "pudding face" and "chubb" (amongst other things). Oddly enough, however, I always found these terms endearing although now they might be considered as verbal abuse. It's a sad reflection on how times have changed.

For most people weight is a direct result of the amount of calories consumed in relation to the amount used - but not always. Some people have medical conditions which have weight issues.

One reason for gaining weight and changing shape which many women of a certain age will relate to is the menopause, and currently that is my explanation.

It's not an excuse, just an explanation. I use it every time I find yet another skirt or pair of trousers which won't quite fit, and it comes in very handy.

My weight appears to shift around at night when I'm asleep and I wake up in the morning with extra on my arms, back, stomach and waist.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw writes articles and is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me See http://www.jeanshaw.com

Weight Issues And Men - It's No Longer Just A Woman Thing

As a woman I am exposed to articles or discussions about weight on a daily basis.

Practically every magazine will have something about it somewhere and I've yet to meet a single female who is content with her size, shape or appearance. No matter how confident they may be there's always something they'd like to change and they don't mind discussing it

Not so men and boys.

Unfortunately for the male population there are very few magazines targeted at them which actually ever raise the issue, and this is a shame because the amount of overweight and obese boys has doubled in the past ten years.

The problem is fat boys tend to grow into fat men who have a tendency to die young, and many males either don't seem to realise this, or have a strange sense of complacency about it.

Being overweight is not just about being a target for cruel jokes and often having low self esteem, but also it's a health risk.

There has been a marked increase in eight and nine year olds being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in recent years and this can lead to blindness, heart disease and even amputation.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic - Jodi's Journey and Autism, Amalgam and Me - Jodi's Journey Continues.

Diabetes - Why Losing Weight Could Save Hours In Hospital Waiting Rooms

I've just spent several hours in the waiting room at my local hospital. I have problems with my eyes and this was a scheduled check up to see how they had fared since my last visit.

I have what is known as CSR - central serious retinitus, which basically means fluid leaks into the back of my eyes and forms blisters making it difficult to see.

The problem is fluid, being precisely that, moves around, so sometimes I can see clearly with glasses and sometimes I can't.

It's frustrating to say the least.

No-one really knows what causes it although it has been linked to having an accident, taking steroids or being under stress.

Normally the problem corrects itself over a period of time and there is no specific treatment. Occasionally, if the situation goes on for too long and the fluid is not over the centre of the eye, laser treatment is offered.

Failing that you just wait it out which is annoying. If you wear glasses the prescription you need continually changes as the fluid is reabsorbed into the eye and the blisters disappear.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic - Jodi's Journey and Autism, Amalgam and Me - Jodi's Journey Continues.

Water, Water Everywhere But How Much Should We Drink?

Before I suffered mercury toxicity and had to de-tox I was not a lover of water. I preferred mine mixed with tea or coffee. However, now I really appreciate its value.

For thousands of people in UK the last few weeks have been a nightmare. Whilst the British are often ridiculed for our conversations about the weather we could be forgiven for discussing the unusually high levels of rainfall experienced this July.

The deluge of rainwater caused many rivers to burst their banks, flooding properties and utility services like the electricity, water and sewage works. Consequently, thousands of people found themselves surrounded by water but none of it was fit to drink.

Even boiling it was considered a health risk and daily people queued up to fill their containers with clean water delivered in bowsers.

This was a most unusual sight in UK and it made me realise how much we take our water supply for granted.

I also wondered how many people's health suffered because they became dehydrated. Very few of us actually drink enough water anyway, even when it is available through our taps.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic - Jodi's Journey and Autism, Amalgam and Me - Jodi's Journey Continues.

I am always annoying my family by insisting they don't drink from cans or bottles. Unless I "nag" them when we are out they will happily just purchase one from a shop somewhere and raise it to their mouths.

Maybe they feel drinking from a straw or glass isn't macho or cool. At home they have no such qualms and always use glasses, usually so many I complain about the washing up.

There is a very good reason for my insistence however and relates to an incident which happened several years ago when I lived in Brunei.

One Friday afternoon a fit young family man who played football for a local team bought a can of drink from a restaurant situated close to the river. He drank directly from the can and died soon after. It was said he died of Weil's (pronounced Viles) disease. It caused quit a stir at the time and I've never forgotten it.

I was reminded of the incident today when I opened my e-mail and read this:-

Autism - It May Not Be A Living Nightmare But Is A Reason To Worry

If you've read my previous articles you will know the other day on breakfast television, autism was described as a "living nightmare". That really made my day as my son is autistic.

Certainly autism is a lifelong disability and for parents it's a real worry.

My son is eighteen and autistic. He bears no resemblance now to the "child from hell" whom I wrote about in my first book.

I make that statement just incase anyone reading this has just had their child diagnosed with autism and is filled with despair. Take it from someone who's been there, done that and got the tee-shirt - it can get better.

However, the problems don't go away. They just change.

Whilst I am no expert, my best advice would be to accept the autism diagnosis and do whatever you can, as quickly as you can to help your child be the best he or she can be.

The real "experts" and just about everyone involved with autism all agree the earlier the intervention, the better.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me www.jeanshaw.com

Autism - One Reason I Wish Time Would Stand Still

On the television the other morning someone described autism as a "living nightmare". I'm not sure I'd personally go that far yet but it certainly is a major concern - at least for the parents.

My son is autistic and is eighteen. Until now he has been very lucky. He has been able to access support via childrens' services, but I realise many people aren't as fortunate. I've heard numerous tales of parents who've had to really fight for what little help they've had and many get none at all.

I do, but that will soon change. Although my son can already legally drive, drink and vote, he is considered a child until he is nineteen and can remain at his special needs school and go to respite once a month until then. However, as soon as he hits that age he becomes an adult.

Whilst his needs will still be the same, the help to which he will be entitled will be reduced - considerably. Suddenly everything, which has become so familiar to him over the years, will stop.

I wish for his sake and mine time would stand still.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me www.jeanshaw.com

MMR, Autism, And Who Should Really Be On Trial

Unless you have been living on a different planet for the past ten years or so you will have heard of autism and the possible connection with the MMR vaccine. It's a debate, which won't go away.

Thousands of parents, myself included, are convinced our children were fine until given the triple measles, mumps and rubella injection.

Whilst we all agree it doesn't affect everyone, we all know deep down it was the reason our normally developing children took a totally devastating and irreversible path. The problem is proving it. Within the health authorities there appears to be a gagging order in place.

Autism was described on the news the other day as a "living nightmare" and certainly it does affect everyone concerned, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, fifty two weeks a year until eternity.

Not surprisingly, therefore, we would like to ensure other families don't have to suffer in the same way.

Another person who felt the same concern was Doctor Andrew Wakefield who first highlighted the possible connection back in 1998 when he published an article in the Lancet.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me which details why she believes MMR to be partly responsible for her son's autism. http://www.jeanshaw.com

Goodbye Wi-Fi

Until recently whenever I used my computer I felt really "weird".

I'd get a pain in my left temple and the left side of my face would burn. My lips and tongue would tingle, I'd get pins and needles in my toes and fingers, my chest would feel tight as though I couldn't breathe properly and I'd feel sick and disorientated. Also I felt the blood was rushing round my body much too fast.

As I said I felt really "weird" despite wearing two bio guard pendants around my neck to protect me from the electrosensitivity emitted from electro magnetic fields. I'm not sure if wearing two is really necessary but being surrounded by so many electrical gadgets I felt I needed all the help I could get.

So what's changed?

I got rid of the Wi-Fi internet connection in my house.

I spend a lot of time on my computer and using the Internet has become a way of life, not just for me but for the other members of my family too. Consequently we needed a system whereby we could all be connected at the same time if necessary.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic, and Autism, Amalgam and Me http://www.jeanshaw.com

Autistic Adults - Why We Should Worry

My friend's son has autism.

He never sleeps or at least not for any length of time and she is exhausted.

Over the years sleep deprivation has been a real problem and the only time she gets any rest is when he goes to respite care. Even then she admits to spending the whole of her waking hours thinking and worrying about him.

Quality time is something neither she nor any of the other family members get to enjoy and the strain is beginning to show.

However, she is according to the latest reports, one of the lucky ones. It seems that two thirds of families with members who have special needs get no help at all and that 8 out of 10 of them are at breaking point.

Unless you are in such a situation you cannot appreciate the difference just a few hours of being able to lead a normal "ordinary" life can mean. It's often the only thing that keeps families going - the difference between them being able to cope or not.

Unfortunately, however, the money and support pot is only so large and as situations change so do services.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me http://www.jeanshaw.com

Wi-Fi - Why I Don't Think It's As Safe As We Are Led To Believe

I spend several hours each day on my computer and have to admit I often feel really "weird".

When I've explained my symptoms to various family members they've dismissed me as neurotic and humoured me when I wear my bio guard pendants around my neck to protect me from electro magnetic fields.

If I use my mobile phone the left side of my face burns, my tongue and lips tingle, I feel a tightness in my chest as though I can't breathe properly and I get a strange pain in my left temple. I also feel sick and disorientated.

I get the same effect if I use my computer for any length of time particularly if I am in the room where we have the Wi-Fi box installed. For those of you who don't know Wi-Fi is an acronym for wireless fidelity and is a means by which people with laptop computers can move around and still be able to access the internet.

We used to use a broadband cable but because there are sometimes three people wanting to be on a computer at the same time we found wireless so much easier.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me http://www.jeanshaw.com

Snoring - Why It Can Seriously Damage Your Health

Snoring is a common problem. It occurs when the flap of muscular tissue at the back of the throat known as the soft palate vibrates irregularly.

It affects one's ability to breathe through the nose and can be brought on by various factors such as diet, your breathing, stress levels, and the physical environment.

Often people can't remember when they started to snore but it seems to be more common as people get older and as they gain weight. Women often find it gets worse during the menopause.

At the very least it can be embarrassing but it can also be very dangerous. People who snore tend not to get quality sleep and are often tired and lethargic. It can make driving and operating machinery precarious.

Snoring can also put a tremendous strain on relationships and many married couples have had to resort to separate bedrooms just to survive.

My autistic son snores - not all the time but sufficiently often to make you glad you're not sharing a room with him.

Much of his problem is that he sleeps on his back and it is much worse when he has a cold or hayfever.** End Summary**
About the Author:
For information on a natural, healthy, effective ways to cure snoring permanently

Skin Care, Sun Damage and Why I'm Feeling Pretty Smug Today

I have to admit to feeling pretty smug today.

At a party last night I was told by a few people I looked considerably younger than I actually am and I don't think they were all drunk at the time either.

This came as a pleasant observation to me as over the years I have certainly not been kind to my skin.

Up until my early thirties I abused it terribly. I coated it in baby oil, carrot oil and coconut oil , not all at the same time I hasten to add, and fried in the sun. My quest for a tan led me to spend more time on sunbeds than is now deemed safe and generally I took my skin for granted.

Not surprisingly my misspent youth has caught up with me and I've had numerous questionable spots cut off or frozen from my arms, legs and shoulders. According to my doctor they were all attributable to "sun damage".

What I didn't realise until far too late is that there's no such thing as a safe tan.** End Summary**
About the Author:
For details of the World's First cosmetic, skin and personal care products certified to Food Grade Standards free of toxins and harmful synthetic chemicals see www.bestorganicsforhealth.com Jean Shaw is the author of I'm Not Naughty - I'm Autistic and Autism, Amalgam and Me www.jeanshaw.com

Have you ever noticed that you can wait for ages for a bus and then loads will come at the same time?

Well that's what's happened to me with my attempts at internet marketing.

Of course I'm not talking about buses but information.

Now don't get me wrong. There's a lot of information out there but the trouble is most of it is pretty disappointing. It's either rehashed versions of what's already gone before, get-rich-quick schemes, or not explicit enough, at least that's been my experience.

I am a visual learner and also because I am a bit of a technophobe (having still not even mastered the intricacies of a mobile phone) I require step-by-step lead-me-by-the-hand instructions to get from A to Z. Many suppliers of information just assume we are all computer geeks and know the letters in between.

I know I'm sad, my son's already told me, but I'm not alone.

Okay, you might ask, - if I'm so bad with the computer, what am I doing trying to be an Internet Marketer?

Well, I blame it on menopausal madness and a "Free" lunch. Let me explain..

I'm writing this article outside in the sunshine. Well, actually that's not completely true.

I am outside and the sun is shining beautifully but I'm sitting in the shade. As much as I'd like to feel the heat of the sun on my exposed limbs my days of sunbathing have gone - doctors orders!

Like many people I love to have a tan. It has always made me feel healthier (and slimmer) somehow, and from my mid teens until my early thirties I spent many a happy hour soaking up the sun's rays.

But not any more.

I have done so much damage to my skin over the years that if I had one of those special skin X-rays done I would look about ninety! I've had all sorts of things burned, frozen or cut out and it has to stop before I get the kind of skin cancer that cannot be treated.

When I was a teenager it was "cool" to have a tan although I don't suppose that was the expression used in those days.
My son has autism and like many autistic individuals his diet had been a major issue.
It is getting better though.

Until he developed autism after his MMR vaccine my son would eat anything. He was a delight to feed.

However, things changed and for years he literally lived on Hoola Hoops. They are small round potato rings with very little nutritional value what so ever.

They come in packs and are ideal for transportation as they don't crush like packets of crisps. I should know as I have often carried suitcases full of them when we have travelled. The only consolation for that is they are light!

Hoola Hoops are convenience foods and ideal to put as an extra in a lunch box. They are better than crisps because they contain less salt, colourings and flavourings than most brands and now, according to the packet, contain 55% less saturated fat than they did in 2006!

Since they were the only things my son would eat he used to take four packets to school with him every day. As desert he would have a packet of Polos. These are round mints with holes in them.

Last night I had a really restless night and today I feel really tired and lethargic.
It's my own fault though. I did something I shouldn't and had a guilty conscience.

Now don't get all excited and think I'm going to reveal something really juicy or controversial. It's nothing like that.

You see my son has autism. He also has a huge collection of old videos which he rarely watches. They just take up space.

This weekend he went away for respite care and as he has just celebrated his 18th birthday I decided to get rid of some of the older ones which I considered inappropriate for his age.

Actually, I could have got rid of most of them using those criteria, but like most people with autism my son likes familiar things so the ones he's watched since a child are his favourites.

Anyway, whilst he was gone I placed some of them outside the door of a local charity shop feeling good that someone else might get enjoyment from them.

However, when I collected my son from his respite care yesterday afternoon he proudly produced two new videos. Apparently he'd found them in some charity shops.** End Summary**
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.jeanshaw.com/site/1357437/page/912364"target="blank"> Strategies To Help Insomnia And Get A Good Night's Sleep
