Forex Trading - 3 Things To Focus On With A Small Account

Everyone as they say, has to start somewhere, and for many newbies to forex trading, they start with a small account. We're talking accounts of $10,000 or less in size.

Focus on Risk Management - Every currency will have an associated minimum cost per pip. For instance, on EURUSD futures, you may have an associated minimum cost of $12.50 per pip, and so if you spot a trade that requires a 100 point stoploss, your risk for that trade is 100 x $12.50 = $1250.

If you have a $10,000 account this is 12.5% of your account and is therefore not a feasible trade for you to take, no matter how good the setup looks.

Rock solid risk management must be the priority for your account when you are starting out. You will have to pass up many trades because the associated risk to your account will be far too large. A 1% risk limit is what many traders use, which means that on a $10,000 account, this is $100.

Taking on too much risk will increase the chance of you striking out, or losing all your money. **End Summary** Topics: forex trading small account risk management percentage returns trading account
About the Author:
Mark S Tan has been trading forex from home since 2008 and believes if he can learn how to trade, anyone can.

Forex Trading - 4 Essential Factors For Success

Forex trading is one of the most rewarding, yet challenging careers anyone can embark upon. There are few other careers where your wealth will continue to grow exponentially whilst you continue to do essentially the same thing. You can also work from home, or indeed the poolside or anywhere you care to choose, and have full control over your time, time you can spend with your family.

However, the path to profitable trading is, as they say full of potholes. Whilst trading is simple, it is not easy, and it is easy for a newbie to be led down the wrong path, and end up losing money hand over foot.

The 4 Essential Success Factors - There are four basic pillars of trading, essential factors you must possess if you are to have a chance at succeeding as a forex trader.

Skills and Strategy - This is what you must acquire first, the skills to trade, and a strategy that you know has a positive expectancy, i.e. one that will make money in the long run. **End Summary** Topics: forex trading essential factors trading strategy trading success make money consistently
About the Author:
Mark S Tan is an "armchair trader" and has been trading forex from home since 2006 and believes discipline, perseverance and good education were critical to his success.

How To Survive In Forex Trading - The 1% Rule

The greatest barrier to making it as a trader is losing all your money.

The markets are a hostile environment and it will not hesitate to take your money whenever it gets the chance.

Many books and courses on trading do not emphasise risk management and why it is essential for your survival, and it is not surprising then, that so many aspiring traders fail, because they do not manage how much they lose and end up losing all their money.

Maximise Your Chance of Success - The 1% Rule:

You can maximise your chance of success my minimising your chance of failure. One simple rule is almost all you need to ensure that your chances of losing it all are vanishingly small

Only risk a maximum of 1% of your trading account on any one trade

It really is as simple as that.

Why the 1% Rule Works - Suppose you started with $10,000. If you followed the 1% rule and risked only 1% of your money on each trade, you would need 459 consecutive losers before you lost 99% of your account.

That's 459 losers in a row before you'd be left with $100! **End Summary** Topics: forex trading one percent rule currency trading trading experience trading account
About the Author:
Mark S Tan is an "armchair trader" and has been trading forex from home since 2006 and believes discipline, perseverance and good education were critical to his success.

Emotional Trading will kill your profits

Forex traders often feel two emotions, fear and greed.

However, these two emotions are exactly what will get you into trouble.

Emotions Make You Fiddle: If you have a strategy that has a positive expectancy, what you need to do is execute that strategy consistently and flawlessly. Fear and greed make you deviate from the strategy because these emotions compel you to alter your strategy to either minimise loss or maximise gain.

Changing your strategy based upon an emotional twitch is exactly what will lower its expectancy and make you unprofitable

Following Your Emotions Makes You Part of the Crowd:
Bulls go long, bears go short and sheep just get slaughtered. The majority of traders out there are the ones trading emotionally, and they will run their losses and cut their profits. The crowd gets slaughtered because it doesn't have a good solid technical or fundamental reason for taking a trade. Every trader has experienced times when the market is "out to get them", when every trade seems to go against them from the moment they enter.

It's a sign that they are probably trading emotionally and letting fear or greed dictate their actions. **End Summary** Topics: forex trading emotional trading trading decisions trading forex
About the Author:
Mark S Tan is an "armchair trader" and has been trading forex from home since 2006 and believes discipline, perseverance and good education were critical to his success.

How Solar Photovoltaic Panels Work

Solar photovoltaic panel is just another way of saying solar panel, i.e. those panels that collect the energy from the sun and convert this into usable electricity. Until recently, solar panels used silicon as the base material to generate electricity from the sun, and this limitation has been preventing significant progress in solar technology.

Amorphous, polycrystalline or monocrystalline silicon is the critical component of solar photovoltaic panels. Amorphous solar panels are made from silicon that has no crystal structure, purely random silicon and this is about 5% efficient. For every kilowatt (1kW) of power the solar cell receives, it will give you 50 watts of usable electricity.

Power is generated from solar photovoltaic cells when light strikes the silicon semiconductors. The light is absorbed into the material and the energy releases electrons that are allowed to flow. This flow of electrons creates the current and by using metal contacts, you can draw the electricity off to use either directly in your home appliances or to charge a battery so you can use the power later on.

Photovoltaic cells are made of silicon semiconductors, and when light strikes the cell, it is absorbed into the semiconductor material. **End Summary** Topics: Solar photovoltaic Solar roof Solar kits Solar power home residential solar energy
About the Author:
Mark S Tan is a fan of no-nonsense solutions for home renewable energy and is committed to reducing dependency on polluting fossil fuels and of course, saving money.

How To Install Residential Solar Panels

We all like to save money, especially on our electricity bills. One way to fight climate change and also put more change in your pocket is to install your own residential solar panels.

If you build and install sufficient solar panels, you could reduce your current energy bill by up to 80%, or supplement it altogether at times when the sun is shining. Some states allow you to sell your excess energy back to the power grid. Whilst you may not eliminate your dependency on the utility company, you will at make savings of more than $300 every month.

Every project comes with its minimal set of components and to install residential solar panels you will need to buy or build the solar panels themselves, a rechargeable 12V deep cycle battery, a DC meter and a DC input. AC appliances require the installation of an inverter. The number of panels and batteries you need depends on the number you want to install in your home and or the amount of power you require.

Installation of the solar panel is, in principle simple. The components need to be connected together. **End Summary** Topics: Residential solar panels residential solar energy home solar panels home renewable energy home m
About the Author:
If you like saving money on your electricity bill, then why not install some home solar panels ?
3 Things to Think About Before Installing That Roof Solar Panel

Solar power is now within the reach of the homeowner. Installing a good roof solar panel can destroy your electricity bills. It'll also reduce your dependency on polluting fossil fuels (that are non-renewable) and you'll be doing your bit to fight climate change. A roof solar panel is low-maintenance if installed correctly, and has a life span of decades if it gets the right maintenance. Commercially installed solar panels usually pay themselves back over 10-15 years, but if you build and install you own you could save the same amount you spent on in within two months.

However, you need to do some homework before you can decide whether installing roof solar panels is going to be a worthwhile project that will save you money in the medium term.

Does you house get enough sun? Look around your house. Does it face the sun, and are there things like tall buildings that might block the sunlight you get falling on your home? Full sunlight is obviously best but be mindful of even partial shading. Minor shading from buildings and trees can result in major losses of power. A south-facing roof at a 30 degree angle is the most productive. **End Summary** Topics: Roof solar panel home renewable energy home solar panels solar kit solar roof solar power home
About the Author:
Mark S Tan is a fan of home made energy.
Electricity bills keep going up, and electricity is something that all of us wish we could save more of, to give us a bit more cash. However, there's only so much you can cut back on before you start causing your families inconvenience and discomfort. You can supplement the energy you use by installing solar roof panels, so you could both save money and keep your standard of living at the same time.

Retail home solar panels used to cost in the region of $20,000, an investment that even the most environmentally-conscious of homeowners would have considered unfeasibly expensive. Solar technology has developed over the recent years, and DIY solar roof panels are now practical for the home. You can build efficient solar panels that produce enough energy to make good savings. You'll be saving money and tapping the sun, the most abundant source of free energy that we mankind has available right now.

Solar Power - Home Made Energy Secrets

Did you know you can save money on electricity bills if you build your own solar power home system? Prices are heading one way, up and with the earth's natural resources becoming ever scarcer, energy prices are not going to come down any time soon.

With the right information and a small initial investment you could generate solar power at home. You could either build your own home solar panels or if you have a little bit more to spend, assemble a solar kit. With the right know-how you should be able to complete the project on a budget of $300 or less.
However, the first thing you need to check is whether or not there is enough sun for solar power. Home features such as a large roof or wall sidings help with mounting the solar panels, but the main thing you should check is to see if your house gets a generous amount of sun all day. There should not be any features like large trees or buildings obscuring sunlight during the day. If your roof doesn't get enough sun, you could mount them in your back yard. **End Summary** Topics: Solar power home residential solar energy home solar panels home renewable energy
About the Author:
Mark S Tan is a fan of no-nonsense solutions for home renewable energy and is committed to reducing dependency on polluting fossil fuels and of course, saving money.

DIY Solar Kits - Home Made Electricity Secrets

Solar kits are great ways you can build cost-effective solar panels that will generate power and savings year after year. They make building your own home solar panels inexpensive. The sun is an almost infinite source of energy that's non-polluting and free and it is now easy to start using this resource.

Home solar panels bought on the retail market can cost up to $20,000. Arrays of panels costing this amount of money will take years before they every pay for themselves. Home solar kits can be built for less than $300 and the performance of these kits is comparable to those of the retail variety.

Obviously a prerequisite for making home solar power feasible is to have a decent amount of sunlight. Solar kits are popular in India, Indonesia, New Zealand and South Africa, nations where the is a lot of sunshine all year round. However if you live in more temperate zones it can still work for you. The UK, where lack of sunshine is a national tradition, sees strong sales in solar kits for people who want to save money. **End Summary** Topics: Solar kits Solar power home residential solar energy home solar panels home renewable energy
About the Author:
Mark S Tan is a fan of no-nonsense solutions for home renewable energy and is committed to reducing dependency on polluting fossil fuels and of course, saving money.

Wind Power - Home Made Energy Secrets

The earth's supply of fossil fuels is dwindling, and this scarcity is only going to drive the cost of those fuels, and thus the cost of our electricity bills, up. It is unclear even to the experts exactly how long our reserves of oil and other natural resources will last, but estimates place it as soon as a few decades, which means it could be within our lifetimes.

Reducing our dependence on fossil fuels has two advantages:
- We emit fewer polluting greenhouse gases.
- We rely less on fossil fuels and help the earth's supply last longer

Recent developments in the technology of renewable energy have made it simple enough for you to build your own wind turbine. Wind power for the home is now realistic and feasible. You can get a practical amount of power out of a home wind turbine. Wind power is environmentally clean, and apart from the greenhouse gases emitted to produce the components, does not produce any further pollution. **End Summary** Topics: Wind power home home renewable energy
About the Author:
Mark S Tan is a fan of no-nonsense solutions for home renewable energy and is committed to reducing dependency on polluting fossil fuels and of course, saving money.

How Solar PV Panels Generate Free Electricity And Fight Climate Change

A photovoltaic or PV panel is a method used to generate electricity from sunlight. It is as simple as sunlight shining on a solar panel, producing electricity.

How PV Panels Work: There is an natural phenomenon called the photoelectric effect that allows energy to be generated from sunlight. Explaining exactly how the photoelectric effect happens is beyond the scope of this article. What we need to know is that sunlight shining on a semiconductor like silicon releases electrons to flow, and a flow of electrons is a current, that can be harnessed as energy.

So, all that is needed is a flat panel of semiconductor like silicon, and metal at each face of it to draw off the current. It's as simple as that! Obviously the amount of energy the solar panel produces is dependent on how much sun it receives. The greater the amount of sun, the greater the amount of energy it'll produce.

Solar PV panels are typically between 6%-14% efficient depending on the quality of silicon contained within them.

Reasons to Use Solar PV panels: The main benefit of course, is to save on electric bills. **End Summary** Topics: Solar pv Solar photovoltaic Solar power home residential solar energy home solar panels
About the Author:
Mark S Tan is a fan of no-nonsense solutions for home renewable energy and is committed to reducing dependency on polluting fossil fuels and of course, saving money.

Residential Solar Energy: Save Money With Home Solar Panels

How would you like to reduce the fossil fuels you depend on and save money at the same time?

Solar technology has advanced by leaps and bounds in recent years. It's viable to now supplement or replace your household power with residential solar energy. By building your own solar panels you will be able to save on utility bills. Should you generate more energy than you use, you could store it in batteries for future use or sell it back to the power grid for a small profit.

The commercial price of residential solar systems is approximately twenty thousand dollars. At this price it may be years or decades before you recoup the cost of the investment in energy bill savings. Home solar panels can be built for less than $300, an order of magnitude cheaper and the lower outlay also means that you will recoup the cost of your investment sooner, and it will become profitable more quickly. **End Summary** Topics: residential solar energy home solar panels home renewable energy home made energy
About the Author:
Mark Tan is an expert in home renewable energy systems.

Would you like to save money on electricity and help the environment all at the same time? Solar energy is completely renewable and you can make electricity as long as the sun is shining. The sun is a great source of energy, and by harnessing its power we can start to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and help make the earth a cleaner place.

Professionally installed home solar panels are prohibitively expensive. It can take years, of not decades to recoup the cost of the installation. This makes it prohibitive for even the most environmentally conscious citizen. The cost of installation needs to be brought down before this is feasibly economical for anyone other than companies or the very rich.

The improvements in solar technology in recent years have enabled you to build your own home solar panels that will deliver a useful amount of power year after year. The most economical way to generate from the sun is to build your own home solar panels. It is not complicated, and doesn't involve complex skills. With the proper information, it is a simple, even fun activity for the family. Components are now rather cheap and assembly is not complicated. **End Summary** Topics: home solar panels solar roof solar power home solar kits solar photovoltaic solar products sol
About the Author:
Mark Tan is an expert in renewable home energy systems.
Taijiquan Fajin: What is it?

Fajin means "to issue power". There is much lost in translation because Fajin is equally a concept and a training method, so explanations can vary from very simple to utterly baffling.

In practical terms, Fajin is simply a method of generating power for striking or grappling, more specifically, short power, i.e. great power generating striking over very short distances. This was first brought to the world's attention by Bruce Lee and his famous one inch punch. Any scholar of Fajin for martial purposes will probably already understand that Fajin short power is the bread and butter power generation for martial Taijiquan

Fajin also has many health benefits within Taijiquan. One can practise "soft" Fajin, allowing the body to experience the soft impact that stimulates the bones and enhances bone density whilst allowing the body's Qi to flow more freely. The Taijiquan practitioner can also find areas of blockage within the body depending on how the Fajin feels when he or she performs it. Power will flow throughout the body until it reaches an area of tension at which point it will feel like it gets "stuck". **End Summary** Topics: taiji taijiquan tai chi tai chi chuan Fajin health
About the Author:
Mark Tan tries to explain Taijiquan and all its awesome health benefits in the simplest way possible.

The Secret to Easy Breathing in Taijiquan Form

A common question is how to breathe in the Taijiquan form. The answer is unintuitive, and not as straightforward as one may think. Plotting a breathing pattern and teaching it to students is not the answer. Students will go blue in the face trying to do the "right" breathing.

You can always spot someone who's trying to breathe to a pattern, because they're usually the ones holding their breath. A posture that takes a bit longer than normal to complete means they'll have to exhale for a lot longer, but because they're not so good at it yet, they exhale almost completely by the time they're 2/3 of the way through the posture and then hold their breath for the rest. This makes them hold tension and is a little self-defeating. They're putting a lot of effort into relaxing themselves off, only to have their breathing pattern tense them up again.

Breath holding will cause tension in the body, and tension is our enemy. One of the Taiji goals is to relax and let go of tension, not manifest more in the body. **End Summary** Topics: taijiquan taiji tai chi tai chi chuan breathing form
About the Author:
Mark Tan is a taijiquan teacher specialising in simple techniques to control stress and relieve the back and joint problems caused by modern living.

How Taijiquan Breathing Can Relieve Stress

Stress is a cause of many physical, mental and emotional problems that society faces today. The effects of stress also ripple out into other parts of our lives, and eventually start to affect our relationships and also the quality of our life. Being able to relax and let go of this tension in the physical, mental and emotional dimensions can really help us improve our quality of life.

The most obvious way we use our breathing to relax ourselves is by sighing. Try sighing now if you like. The reason why it feels right is because you are using one of the body's own relaxation mechanisms to help you let go of tension.. It is therefore no surprise that breathing affects us physiologically and vice versa. Often we are not aware of how our breathing is affected by other physiological events, but here are a few examples.

Should you be surprised by someone jumping out from behind a tree shouting "Boo!", the first thing you do is inhale sharply and hold your breath. The surprise manifests as a brief moment of anxiety and that heartbeat of emotional tension manifests in turn as a holding of the breath. **End Summary** Topics: taiji taijiquan tai chi tai chi chuan breathing stress relief stress management
About the Author:
Mark Tan is a Taijiquan teacher specialising in stress relief and back pain.

How To Learn Taijiquan Or Any Movement in 3 Easy Steps

A simple and most effective way to learn movement is to follow a very simple three-step process, that is:

Watch
Follow
Do

I've had very good results teaching people Taijiquan form using this method and it wasn't till I met a neuroscientist that I learnt exactly why this method works so well.

Learning is both a conscious and unconscious process, your conscious mind will learn the movement but so will your unconscious mind and muscle memory. It is when we push both dimensions of our psyche to work that we get the best results.

Every time you learn something, be it a movement or anything else, you create a neural network in your brain. Neurons fire in specific sequences to recall the movement and perform it. The more you practise and repeat, the stronger the neural network gets and the better you remember.

Watch Phase

So, when you watch someone demonstrating the movement you start laying the seeds for learning. Watch the demonstration and visualise yourself doing the movement, but do not actually attempt the movement yet. This is important because the brain can only really focus on one thing at any given time. **End Summary** Topics: taijiquan tai chi taiji tai chi chuan learning form movement
About the Author:
Mark Tan - Taijiquan and Martial Arts Teacher

How Relieve Back Pain with Taijiquan

One of the most common causes of back pain is poor posture. The body gets used to being held in a certain position, one that puts a lot of pressure on one part of the spine, typically the lumbar spine, and, over time the strain develops into a muscolo-skeletal problem resulting in acute pain.

By the time back pain becomes a problem, the postural problems are most probably in a chronic phase. The body's muscle memory has got so used to holding the body in that poor posture that the body thinks that that is a normal state to be in. You might even think that that's a normal state for the body and spine to be in, having got used to it over a period of years.

The body's muscles need to be re-trained to hold the body in the correct posture, and this correct posture will relieve a lot of back pain because a correctly aligned spine will be carrying the body's weight the way it was designed to.

Regular practise of Taijiquan helps to relieve the stress on the spine and its supporting muscles. Relaxation and correct alignment re-train the body's supporting muscles. **End Summary** Topics: taijiquan tai chi taiji tai chi chuan back pain back pain relief
About the Author:
Mark Tan - Taijiquan Teacher and Back Pain Preventer
