How To Find The Best Hotel Deals

Everyone wants to find good hotel deals, but no one wants to stay in a crummy hotel room, even if they can only afford a $50 room. The key is to find the best deals and not wait until the last minute to book the room.

Many hotels will offer great deals because filling the rooms at a cheaper rate is better than not filling those rooms at all. It's often best to look for deals on hotels in L.A. and other cities online and then call the hotel's front desk and book the room over the phone mentioning the discount advertised online.

Below are some tips and resources for finding the best hotel deals online. These should help travelers plan ahead and save some money on future trips.

First of all, take advantage of travel sites that help travelers find the best available deals. In many ways, these sites will do all the work.

Next, check out the actual home page of a specific hotel in the area. Too many people do not visit the hotel's web site and instead simply find the number and call the front desk. Don't do this. **End Summary** Topics: Hotel Hotels Booking Travel Traveling
About the Author:
http://www.whosgotroom.com is a quick and easy way to find and book hotel rooms online.
How To Politely Complain At A Hotel

Travelers have expectations when they book a hotel room. They expect the room to be clean, and they expect good service. When this doesn't happen, sometimes it's effective to complain and sometimes it's better to let it go.

The following are some helpful hints for when it is necessary to complain at a hotel. It's never a good idea to yell or become angry. Instead it's best to calmly explain the situation.

First of all, find the right person to talk to. Hotel workers aren't going to be able to do a whole lot unless they are the manager or assistant manager. It's best to just ask for the general manager right away rather than to waste time explaining the problem to someone else.

Of course, if the problem is something small such as no towels in the bathroom or no toilet paper, a simple call to the front desk is probably all that's needed. It's not fair to waste the manager's time with such a petty issue.

Remember to be as patient as possible. The problem will probably not be resolved immediately, especially if the hotel is very busy. **End Summary** Topics: Hotel Hotels Booking Travel Traveling Fees
About the Author:
http://www.whosgotroom.com is an online hotel booking site that offers rooms in ephrata, wa hotels or across the country in moorhead, minnesota .

How To Avoid Extra Hotel Fees

If only the price advertised on the web site or the price the front desk person says is the rate would be the final rate. Instead, there are always extra taxes and extra fees for every little thing.

Just a few examples of extra charges could be taxes, a charge for room service and Internet charges. Most hotels in Fargo ND also charge to use the phone when it is not a local number.

Below are some tips for avoiding extra charges at hotels. These little costs add up and can be a big surprise at check out time. The following tips will help keep that "$149 dollar room" at $149.

The first thing to think about is Internet. Although most hotels do not charge for Internet these days, some do charge an access fee or a fee per day of use.

Be careful. Just because a hotel says it has free high speed Internet does not mean it offers free Internet in the rooms. Although some hotels offer free high speed Internet in each room, some only offer "free" Internet in the lobby.

When in doubt about Internet, just ask. **End Summary** Topics: Hotel Hotels Booking Travel Traveling Fees
About the Author:
http://www.whosgotroom.com is a quick and easy way to find and book hotel rooms online.
Do I Need To Add More Insulation In My Home?

Many people wonder if their homes need more insulation in the winter. It's not always obvious to the average home owner.

The answer depends on what area of the country you live in. Typically, houses in warm-weather states such as Florida should have an R-38 insulation in the attic, whereas houses in cold climates like North Dakota and Minnesota should have R-49.

These insulation levels will keep heated air from migrating out in winter months. In a cooling climate, a good blanket of attic insulation helps keep the house cooler and reduces the load on air conditioning equipment.

Most attics are insulated with blown-in loose cellulose (R-3,5 per inch), blown in loose fiberglass (R-2,5 per inch) or fiberglass batts (R-3,2 per inch). Cellulose is recycled newsprint treated with a fire retardant. Fiberglass is just that thin fibers of glass that trap air.

To determine if you need more insulation, measure what is in place with a ruler or tape. When you do the measuring, make sure you have plenty of light to work by, and work on a cool day.

And be careful not to step through the ceiling. **End Summary** Topics: Home Insulation Home Improvement Improvement
About the Author:
http://fmhomeinspectionsllc.com living in a warm-weather state, or a cooler northern climate, it's hard to stay comfortable.
Is The Cost Of Pet Insurance Worth It?

Pet insurance can be worth it if your dog ends up having a high amount of vet bills. It really depends on the dog and how much its owner can afford to spend on medical costs for the dog.

In most cases, insurance for pets is not really worth it. Chances are the dog is not going to have any injuries or medical costs that are more than $500 or so.

Most people can afford this in an emergency. However, for someone who does not have any savings and who does not want to charge vet bills to a credit card, pet insurance might be worth the cost.

But pet owners should do their research. Premiums are similar to any other insurance. There are lots and lots of options out there.

It's easy to get overwhelmed, and it's not possible to give an average cost for pet insurance premiums. The cost for pet insurance is going to vary for each owner and the dog based on the breed, age of the dog, any past illnesses, etc.

Pet insurance for small dogs is not going to cost any less than it does for large dogs. **End Summary** Topics: Pet Pets Dog Dogs Insurance
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com is an expert site on dogs and dog related topics such as pet insurance for small dogs and pet insurance in North Dakota .

How To Find Hotel Deals

There are tons of hotel deals out there and lots of ways to look for these deals. The problem is most people just call the reservation desk and pay the typical amount for a room without planning ahead.

The worst way to get a deal on a hotel room is to book a room at the last minute. Most people do not plan ahead and then search for a hotel room the night they need one.

This usually results in taking the first room found or the only room available regardless of price or location. This is not a way to save money.

Finding a good deal on a hotel room involves planning ahead, checking multiple hotels and taking some time. This can save travelers up to half the price.

The cheapest hotel rates are available during the quietest travel months out of the year for the destination. More travelers means hotels can charge more.

For example, some looking for hotels in Fargo will find better deals in the winter when they do a search for Hotels Fargo compared to the summer when people are taking road trips.

Some hotels even list different rates during the off-season. **End Summary** Topics: Hotel Hotels Booking Travel Traveling
About the Author:
http://www.whosgotroom.com is an online hotel booking and reservation site that brings the best prices to the Internet.
Ways For Hotels To Fight Competition

Hotels are facing more competition as more and more hotels pop up over the country. They are also facing new sales challenges in the current economy as people are traveling less.

One way for hotels to make more bookings and therefore more money is to increase online reservations. To do this, hotels should make sure they are easily found online and that they have good online reviews.

For one thing, keep in mind that most travelers will be using their cell phones or computers to search for and book a room. Technology makes it easier for people to book a hotel room at the last minute.

When travelers are looking to book a room quickly in a given town, for example Hotels Fargo, they might book rooms at hotels they have stayed at before and not even use technology to find a room.

Although hotel ratings and location are also important, price is the first thing most people will consider. If one hotel is $79 per night and one is $129 per night and they are roughly in the same location, the person is probably going to take the less expensive room. **End Summary** Topics: Hotel Hotels Booking Travel Traveling
About the Author:
http://www.whosgotroom.com is an online hotel booking and reservation site that brings the best prices to the Internet.
What A Dog Costs

The average dog owner spends at least $1,000 on his or her dog every year. The costs really add up. Newspaper advertisements that say "Free to good home" forget to point out the expenses that will naturally come with the dog.

Just a few costs involved with dog care include food. Food can cost anything from $15 to $60 for a 20-pound bag. On average, a 20-pound bag will cost about $25. Those who want to buy a higher quality food for their dogs will spend more.

Vet bills are another big expense. Annual shots are about $100, plus the exam itself, which is around $50. Add in flea prevention medicine ($60 per year minimum) and heartworm prevention medicine (another $50) and not to mention the heart worm test which all vets seem to require ($40).

Sometimes you can find good deals on dog products online such as Frontline and dog food.

And that's assuming the dog does not have any injuries or illnesses throughout the year that require extra trips to the vet such as ear infections, sprained paws or kennel cough. **End Summary** Topics: Pet Pets Dog Dogs Animals
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com is an expert site on dogs and dog related topics such as pet products online and dog products online .

Easy Way To Walk The Dog

Getting the dog to not pull on the leash is not a big secret. It's all a matter of practice, time, patience and the tools used to perfect walking.

Some training tools used to train a dog to walk on a loose leash include the Gentle Leader, the Halti, the choke collar, the prong collar and the anti-pull harness.

The Gentle Leader works by fitting over the dog's nose. Like a horse halter, the human controls the head of the animal and therefore controls the animal.

It is not comfortable or easy for the dog to pull while wearing a head collar.

The dog Halti is very similar to the Gentle Leader.

The main difference is that it has an extra strap that attaches to the dog's collar in case the dog somehow manages to get his or her nose out of the Halti - it happens!

A lot of dog's will not like wearing a head collar (Gentle Leader or Halti). These dogs will protest and put up a fight, rubbing their noses on the ground and pawing at their faces. **End Summary** Topics: Dog Dogs Pets Collars Halti
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com is an expert site on dogs and dog related topics such as dog halti and halti callars.

Reasons To Start A Dog Walking Business

Now is a great time to start a dog walking or pet sitting business. It's the perfect time to start any kind of home business, for that matter. With so many people losing their jobs, wouldn't it be better to be self-employed?

The pet industry is growing and will continue to grow. People treat their pets like children and members of the family. That's because pets really have become members of the family!

A pet business could include anything from veterinary care, dog grooming, a dog walking service, dog daycare, pet sitting, pet massage, pet stores, dog food bakeries and so much more. The options are endless.

Here are just five of the many reasons to start a pet related business:

1. There are low start-up costs involved.

So many businesses, including franchises, require so much money to get started that it prevents a lot of potentially successful people from even getting started. But a pet business such as an in home pet sitting business or dog walking business can cost virtually nothing.

Most pet businesses can be run right out of the business owner's home. That means less money spent on renting office space and more take home pay! **End Summary** Topics: Dog Walking Business
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com is an expert site on dogs and dog related topics such as how to start a dog walking service or how to start a dog walking business .

Reasons To Bike With Your Dog

There are many reasons to bike with your dog, although some may be less obvious than others. Here are a few reasons why biking with your dog is healthy for both the dog and the owner.

1. It helps with weight loss.

That's true for the dog and the owner! So many pets are overweight these days. And their owners are too. If the dog needs a little extra exercise, then the owner probably could use some more exercise and some motivation as well.

There are a lot of overweight pets out there, but there are also plenty of overweight people who own these pets!

Trying something a little more fun and exciting than the usual walking routine will be nice for the human and the dog. A hands free bike leash makes biking a little safer because the owner can have both hands on the bike.

2. It gives the dog a job.

Dogs need a purpose or they become bored and stir crazy. My mutt wears a backpack, he does dog agility, he retrieves and he goes biking. Biking is one of the easiest ways to give him a job to do. **End Summary** Topics: Dog Dogs Bike Leash
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com is an expert site on dogs and dog related topics such as bike leach for dogs and hands free bike leash .

Reasons To Hire A Dog Walker

First, the easiest way to get your dog to be better behaved is to give the dog more exercise. People don't always realize that the reason the dog is barking, destroying the house or acting hyper all the time is because the dog is not getting enough exercise.

A romp in the backyard or playing with toys in the house is not enough exercise. All dogs need a good half-hour walk every day. But most dogs will need more than that, closer to an hour a day or more.

A dog will appreciate a new toy or some good food. But what dogs really want and love most of all is to be outside or doing something productive with their person.

The best thing someone can do is take his or her dog for a walk. If that is not possibly, then the next best thing is to hire someone to do it.

Professional dog walkers love dogs, and they understand them. Or, at least they should. But because it's easy to start a dog walking business or to say someone is a dog walker, it is a good idea to ask for references. **End Summary** Topics: Dog Business Walking Dog Walking Business
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com is an expert site on dogs and dog related topics such as dog walking business and how to start a dog walking business .

Why Use A Dog Head Collar

There are many reasons why a head collar is the best collar for a dog. They are becoming more and more popular with dogs of all sizes, but especially medium to large dogs.

First of all, the purpose of a collar is to gain proper control of the dog during a walk. A head collar like a Gentle Leader gives the human more control than a dog.

The reason a dog Gentle Leader gives the human more control than the dog is because part of the collar fits over the dog's muzzle like a horse halter. When a horse wears a halter, the human controls the head of the horse, and therefore the body of the horse. It is the same concept with a dog.

When a dog wears a head collar, the owner controls the dog's head, and therefore the dog looses the ability to pull. The point is to teach the dog to walk nicely on a leash in heel position or at least to stop pulling.

Wearing a head collar often has a calming affect on the dog. This is because the dog is under control. **End Summary** Topics: Dogs Gentle Leader Collars Halti
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com is an expert site on dogs and dog related topics such as dog gentle leader and halti collars.

Teaching Your Dog To Go Biking

People who want to give their dogs more exercise than just a walk or a run should try taking their dog biking or Rollerblading. This will be less of a workout for the human, and more of a workout for the dog.

Dogs love to go at a fast pace, and when we walk or run with them, they often don't think we're going fast enough. And often, it just is not enough exercise for a large or active dog such as a German shepherd, Springer spaniel, boxer or border collie.

Biking with a dog can be a lot of fun and very easy to teach. The key is to slowly introduce a dog to a bike so as not to scare the dog or cause an accident.

One tool that helps keep a dog under control while biking is a bike leash for dogs. This leash works by attaching to the dog's collar and then attaching to the bike itself. This allows the person to be hands free.

The dog bike attachment comes in handy in case your dog decides to bolt after another dog, a squirrel or another biker. **End Summary** Topics: Dog Dogs Bike Leash
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com is an expert site on dogs and dog related topics such as bike leash for dogs and dog bike attachment .

Starting A Pet-Related Business

Although it is not very expensive to start a pet-related business, there are some expenses involved. Here is an outline of what is needed to start a pet business, and how much it will cost.

There are many different kinds of pet business. Some examples include dog walking, dog running, in-home pet sitting, dog daycare, dog boarding, dog photography, dog training and dog grooming.

If you are looking at how to start a dog walking business or a pet sitting business, all you will really need is some advertising money.

It does not cost a lot to advertise a dog walking service. A newspaper ad will likely cost about $100-$200 per month in the classified section. A magazine ad will be much more expensive.

But these traditional ways of advertising are not the most effective and may not even be necessary.

Other, possibly more effective advertising includes fliers, brochures and Craigslist. For $100 or less, printing stores can print hundreds or even thousands of fliers or brochures. To have someone design one might cost another $100. **End Summary** Topics: Pets Business Pet Dog Dogs
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com is an expert site on dogs and dog related topics such as how to start a dog walking business or other dog walking service .

Stating a Pet Business

With a bad economy, more people are looking for ways to start their own business or at least make some money on the side. There are countless ways to do this and be successful, as more and more people are learning.

One way to start your own business is to do something related to pet care. This could mean starting a dog walking business, starting a dog daycare center or perhaps doing in-home pet sitting or dog training.

Here are a few tips for starting a pet-related business:

First of all, start small. Unless you have already been laid off from your job, offering pet sitting on the weekends is something you can start while you are still working a 9-5 job. Little by little, you can start taking more clients as you free up more time.

People may also wonder about how to start a dog walking business. It is one of the easiest businesses to start up because it requires very little money. All you need is a good pair of walking shoes.

For starting a dog walking business, it is best to advertise at places where dog owners will be. **End Summary** Topics: Dog Dogs Pets Business Home Business
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com offers a wide variety of information about pet and animals and dog walking business , you can also find additional information on how to start a dog walking business .

Stop Dog From Pulling

Most dog owners know what a pain it is to deal with a dog that pulls. It doesn't really matter if the dog is 30 pounds or 130 pounds, a pulling dog is not fun to walk.

When a dog pulls on the leash, the most important thing to do is teach the dog to walk on a loose leash and to obey the command "heel."

Of course, this takes a lot of time, training and patience. For some dogs it can take months or years to master walking on a loose leash.

But along with training, there are several tools out there to help a dog learn that pulling is not allowed.

Some people will actually buy harnesses so that the dog will not hurt its neck while pulling. Although this might stop the dog from making that choking sound, it will actually make it easier and more comfortable for the dog to pull!

Training collars out there include the pinch or prong collar and the choke collar. These collars are designed to correct the dog when it pulls as long as the owner uses the collar properly. **End Summary** Topics: dogs dog pet supplies
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com offers a wide variety of information about pet and animals and supplies like halti , you can also find additional information about dog gentle leader .

The Anatidae Bird Family: Better Known as "ducks"

The duck is a mainly aquatic bird, meaning it spends a great deal of its time on the water. Its scientific classification goes as such: Animalia kingdom, Chordata phylum, Aves class, Anseriformes order, and Anatidae family.

It is a member of the Dendrocygninae, Oxyurinae, Anatinae, Aythyinae, and Merginae subfamilies, but is still oftentimes confused with geese, swans, and loons. While it does bear some similarities to the aforementioned birds, but the duck is generally smaller and can be found in both fresh and salt water bodies.

Normally the body of a duck is fairly extended and broad, with moderately long necks; however, this body build varies depending on the specific breed. For example, members of diving and sea ducks tend to have a more rounded body, better for breaking the water when diving for food, but their heavier bodies make them worse flyers. This individuality also pertains to bills; the members of fishing breeds have a long, thin bill instead of the shorter, broad bill of dabbling ducks, which eat a diet mainly of foods found on or near the surface of the water, because they have to dive deeper in the water to forage for their food. **End Summary** Topics: Ducks Animals White Ducks
About the Author:
http://www.metzerfarms.com Fred Kessel is a licensed veterinary technician at a hatchery that sells white ducks , chickens, and geese.
Biking With Your Dog

A great way to add exercise into your best friend's daily routine is to take your dog biking. There are different ways to do this, and biking is not meant for all dogs.

First of all, biking is great for those tall, lean dogs that have tons of energy. Boxers, labs and greyhounds are all great runners and appreciate a good biking session. Still, any breed can tag along for biking as long as the owner doesn't go too fast.

There are many reasons to consider biking with your dog. One, walking the dog or running with the dog is not always enough exercise to tire out an active breed. It can take several hours of walking to tire a dog out. And let's face it, running is a lot of work for the human!

Biking is a nice option because the dog gets a good workout and the human does not have to work as hard as the dog.

Another reason to bike with your dog is because it gives the dog a job. When a dog is biking with its owner, he goes into a focused, working mode. **End Summary** Topics: dogs dog pet biking
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com helps to inform people on new techniques for dog biking and bike leash for dogs for all size and types of dogs.

North Dakota Road Trip Travel Guide For Kids

Most people love to travel. Kids love to travel, too. But it's not always fun or easy to travel with kids from staying in hotels to driving across wide-open states like North Dakota.

Since now is the time of year when many families are headed out on road trips with the whole family, here are some tips for road trips and staying in hotels when you have your young children along:

1. Give each kid a map.

Let them follow along and track where you are driving too. Give them a map of each state like North Dakota and South Dakota. If you buy the laminated kind, they can even write on the maps with dry-erase markers.

Encourage your children to draw the route you are going or to help you find the shortest route. Have them watch for each city you are passing through and play games like who can find the road signs first or who can find the landmarks first.

For example, if you are driving through North Dakota, see who can see the first sign of the badlands or see who can spot the World's Largest Buffalo first.

2. Create as many games as possible. **End Summary** Topics: North Dakota Travel North Dakota Hotels Kids Travel Tips
About the Author:
http://www.whosgotroom.com offers a wide selection of hotels in Fargo and other Fargo Moorhead Hotels to suit anyone's needs as they travel.

How To Select The Best MP3 Player

The MP3 player is the best way to store and listen to music for most people. It makes more sense to store large quantities of songs on a single device rather than to own cases and case of CDs or to lug around a laptop computer.

Another great thing about an MP3 player is the fact that most of them will not skip when you are using them for exercising or other activities such as running, biking or cleaning the house.

You can spend pretty much whatever you want on an MP3 player. The good thing is you can spend anywhere from $40 on up and select from a variety of used MP3 players.

For a new device, you can spend anywhere from $60 for the cheapest models all the way up to $500 or more for the newest, most complex versions. Just a few brands include new or used Samsung MP3 players, iPods and Panasonics.

Of course, the more money you spend, the more storage space you will get for your songs. If you don't mind uploading 50 or so songs every time you want new music, then a cheaper version will probably work fine for you. **End Summary** Topics: mp3 player mp3
About the Author:
http://usedsansa.info offers a wide variety of used sansa connect and used sansa e260 to suit the needs of any tech geek.

Pet Insurance For Dogs

Have you considered buying pet insurance? You may have thought about it if your pup's vet bills have seemed high. And chances are if you've taken your dog to the vet lately, you did not get out of there for under $50.

For the right pets, pet insurance will cover the majority of vet bills that pet will have during a given year. Buying coverage for your small dog might be worth it more than a large dog because smaller dogs live so much longer and end up costing more over time.

Pet insurance for big dogs might be a good idea too, depending on the dog. Many large breeds are prone to certain health issues such as hip displaysia, cancer or allergies.

Many people ask the question, is pet insurance worth it? Unfortunately there is no right answer to that question. It just depends on each individual dog and each individual owner's financial situation.

Pet insurance is nice to have if you know you would not be able to afford your pet's vet bills in an emergency.

Ask yourself this: What would you do if Rover had a serious injury or accident? **End Summary** Topics: dogs dog pet pet insurance
About the Author:
http://www.thatmutt.com shares a wealth of information about dogs including why is pet insurance worth it and pet insurance for big dogs .
