MACE Wireless Home Security System Review

We all know how when we come across a product that really works well we are enthusiastic to tell others. Well, that is the case with the MACE Wireless Home Security System. I am sure there are other alarms that work as well but this one is impressive. The article describes my experience with installing this unit for a friend. I hope it helps you in your decision process of buying a home alarm system.

I had the opportunity to set up and install a MACE Wireless Home Security System recently for a customer that has an aging mother living next door to he and his wife. Their concern, rightfully so, was the possibility of her getting up in the middle of the night and falling and not being able to get to a phone to call for assistance.

The MACE Wireless Home Security System consists of a motion activated alarm, a door/window sensor, a remote "Panic Alarm" and the control unit. **End Summary** Topics: Home security MACE home security systems MACE home security system home safety home alarms home burglary protection
About the Author:
For more information about the <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com/macewirelesshomesecuritysystem.aspx"> MACE Wireless Home Security System</a> visit Jim's site, www.YourGreatestProtection.com and also to learn about other <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com/burglaryprotection.aspx"> Home Security Systems</a> .

The Differences Between Stun Guns and a TASER

We often read headlines in the news about a police officer using a stun gun on someone. Very often, in fact most of the time, the headline is wrong. The officer probably used a TASER device on a suspect and not a stun gun. The terms “stun gun” and “TASER” have almost become interchangeable.

There are many differences between stun guns and a TASER™ that you should be aware of if you are looking for personal protection devices for self defense. Most people think that a TASER and stun guns are the same thing, but they are not. Knowing the differences will help you make a wise decision on which device is right for your personal protection.

Stun guns are effective approximately 85% of the time when they are used against attackers. When there are people who are high on drugs or just very aggressive the effect may not be as good at all. Especially if the stun gun is of a lower voltage. A TASER has an effectiveness of almost 100% and you will never have to worry if you will be able to put the attacker to the ground or not. **End Summary** Topics: tasers taser stun gun stun guns stungun stunguns self defense
About the Author:
To learn more about <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com/stunguns.aspx"> Self Defense weapons</a> and other <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com/tasers.aspx"> Non Lethal Weapons</a> visit Jim Wilkinson's website, www.YourGreatestProtection.com Jim is a former Police Sergeant and knows what works to keep you and your family safe.

Biometric Gun Safe Equals Better Security

How many times have you woken from a sound sleep in the middle of the night and not known what woke you? Did a sudden noise wake you? You are not really sure because it is quiet now as you are laying there. But then, all of a sudden, you hear somebody walking around in your living room!

You have to do something! OK, lets call the cops first. Good idea. Next, lets get our gun. That's right, it is in our gun safe in the closet. We scurry over to the closet as quickly as we can without making any noise. We pull out our gun case and try to remember the combination or try to find the key in the dark so we can open it and get our gun out. Not real easy to do when you are in such a stressful predicament.

Now, doing something has become a whole lot easier. Of course you still call the police first but then all you have to do is reach under your bed, slide your biometric gun safe out, place your finger on the pad and watch the safe open immediately. **End Summary** Topics: biometric gun safe biometric gun safes biometric safe biometric safes home security safe
About the Author:
Learn more about this new technology and how it is being used on <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com/biometricsafes.aspx">Gun Safes</a> .
Personal Protection and Traveling Alone

Traveling alone makes people vulnerable and open for danger. There are many things that you can do for personal protection to ensure your safety.

When you are traveling alone and you know you will be alone it is very important to plan your trip in advance. Know where you are going to be, learn the map, determine your transportation and more. If you get a rental car the best thing you can do is get the GPS system. The last thing you want to happen is to get lost from your hotel on a bad side of town. A GPS allows you not to have to stop to ask strangers that you don't know for directions. Also, you should find out if the place you are traveling to is a safe destination for women to go to, especially if you are headed out of the country.

When you are traveling alone it may be tempting to get a cheap hotel so you can save money. One thing to consider is that the majority of the criminals are not going to target people in the larger and safer hotels. **End Summary** Topics: travel traveling alone personal protection tasers taser stun gun stun guns stungun stunguns self defense
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Top Ten Myths About Stun Guns

We all “think” we know about Stun Guns and such devices but there has been a great deal of incorrect information spread around about these devices. The following are the top misconceptions about Stun Guns.

1/ You can cause a heart attack if you use a stun gun on someone.
A/ False "The frequency and the shape of the pulses generated by stun guns are designed to incapacitate the target by electrically overwhelming his or her control of the skeletal muscles," according to a leading researcher. "In principle, these pulses are designed to act only on skeletal muscles and to not affect internal organs such as the heart." The evidence that stun guns do not stimulate the heart is based on "...theoretical studies [that] suggest that stun guns cannot deliver the amount of energy required to stimulate the heart or cause ventricular fibrillation."

2/ You will get shocked if you are touching the person that is receiving a jolt from a stun gun.
A/ Not true. The current passing through the attackers body will not transfer back to you.

3/ Stun guns are offensive weapons.
A/ Realistically, not true. **End Summary** Topics: stun gun stun guns stungun stunguns self defense
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Techniques For Using Pepper Spray

When you use pepper spray there are many different things to consider so you spray it right. These things include shielding your eyes, aiming, shooting, timing, and much more. Pepper spray could save your life if someone is trying to hurt you. It is vital you learn the proper techniques so you can get it right.

The basic technique to spray pepper spray is to hold the canister upright and press the button down. You would be balanced on both of your feet and ready to spray. You should warn the person with the free hand and shout as loud as you can for the assailant to stop.

You need to aim the pepper spray directly at the face of the attacker. Try to get the pepper spray into their eyes and face. If you cannot get the face then it may not help you or be effective. Don't spray a person's clothing. Aim for the face and eyes. Continue spraying and follow their head as they try to move away. Make sure the person gets a good dose of the pepper spray before you run away. **End Summary** Topics: pepper spray pepper sprays personal protection
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">Your Greatest Protection. </a> He has a background in Law Enforcement and Safety.
Self Defense and the Law

There are many factors to be considered when the use of self defense is used. Many states differ with their opinion on what they consider valid self defense. These things include the extent, who it is used on, who is using it, and the reason why.

The act of self defense is the use of force to defend one's person from an attacker or a threatening situation. The force must be reasonable. Self defense is in place to protect you from being convicted of a crime if you afflict harm on the person who is attacking you. A good example of self defense is if you had a struggle with a robber and ended up using the robber's weapon against him. You will not be responsible for causing harm to the criminal.

Some states vary what they consider self defense. You may have a can of pepper spray in your purse for personal protection. If you are approached by an attacker in the parking lot of a store and about to be car jacked then the use of your pepper spray would be appropriate and could ultimately save your life. **End Summary** Topics: self defense laws personal protection tasers taser stun gun stun guns stungun stunguns
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Choosing the Right Hidden Cameras

There are many factors associated with choosing the right hidden cameras. You want to consider the color, quality of the image, sensibility to low levels of light, and receivers. These things can help you choose the best camera that works right for you.

The color of a hidden camera you choose is going to make a big difference. You want the camera to blend in with the location where it is going to be placed. It shouldn't be visible to the people or it will defeat the purpose of having a hidden camera. There are tons of different types of spy cameras you can purchase in different colors and shapes.

Image quality is one of the biggest factors you need to consider when you purchase hidden cameras. The quality of the image should be top of the line. The way picture quality works in video is that it is measured by lines of resolution. The highest resolution is the best quality. Surveillance cameras do not provide for high definition picture quality. That is why you see surveillance videos of robberies taking place that are blurry and hard to see. **End Summary** Topics: hidden camera hidden cameras home security video surveillance covert video surveillance
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Types of Hidden Cameras

There are many different types of hidden cameras you might consider if you want to put up surveillance in your home, office, or workplace. These different types include motion detectors, timed cameras, sound activated, nanny cams, and more.

The motion detector cameras are excellent hidden cameras because they use less energy. They require fewer batteries and are the most cost effective camera you can purchase. This is because they only begin recording when the sensors inside of the unit pick up movement in the room. The camera will activate when it detects movement and immediately begin recording. These types of cameras will record the video to things like SD cards or send it out directly to a monitor screen. This is commonly used for video surveillance for security guards and other job types.

Some people like to put the motion detector cameras outside if they suspect someone is messing with their car in a specific parking space and they don't know who it is. **End Summary** Topics: hidden camera hidden cameras home security video surveillance covert video surveillance
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

How To Use Hidden Cameras

Many people purchase hidden cameras and they never install them properly because they really didn't learn how to use them properly in the first place. If you are thinking of purchasing cameras then you need to know how to use them. Here are a few things to follow.

The first thing you need to do is determine the type of video you are hoping for. Do you want to record the video to an SD card and then view it later? Do you want the video to be put out to a monitor so you can watch it in real time? Many people have determined that the use of SD cards is very beneficial because it allows for backup and saving the videos. SD cards are tiny and they also save space because they are much smaller than the large traditional backup tapes.

Most hidden cameras that use an SD card to record are hidden inside an innocent looking common item found in any home. There are no wires or antennae visible. **End Summary** Topics: hidden camera hidden cameras home security video surveillance covert video surveillance
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Reasons to Use Hidden Cameras

There are many reasons to use hidden cameras. Many of the reasons take place at work, at home, in a parking lot, and much more. Protecting yourself, your family, and your property is the best thing you can do and hidden cameras can assist you with that in many ways.

Hidden cameras can be placed almost anywhere and be used for almost any reason. They are small and can fit in little places while they blend in with the environment. They can be motion detected, sound activated, can be battery operated, and more. If you suspect something is going on in your home or office then you may consider using a camera to find out if your suspicions are true.

One reason to use hidden cameras is at work. Statistics show that employees in retail jobs are the ones that steal from the companies and not so much the customers. Cameras allow you to confirm your suspicions and find out which employee is taking from you. Workplace issues with employees stealing office supplies and even money from the petty cash drawer is also very common. **End Summary** Topics: hidden camera hidden cameras home security video surveillance covert video surveillance
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Benefits of Hidden Cameras

There are many benefits of hidden cameras you might consider if you are having trouble with things going missing, suspect a poor babysitter, someone tampering with your car, and other things. The benefits include catching the criminals, wireless capabilities, hidden, and much more.

The hidden cameras are excellent choices because they are hidden. People don't suspect them because they are not in sight. When there are not cameras in view then people are more prone to act as themselves and do things they shouldn't. The hidden cameras give you the ability to see how your kids really act when you walk out the door to work or go away for the weekend. They allow you to verify in your office if someone is really going inside and stealing your office supplies and things. They allow you to find out what is really going on.

When you use hidden cameras they are also wireless. This allows for you to put them anywhere you want to and they will still pick up the video and send it back through the receiver and to the screen. **End Summary** Topics: hidden camera hidden cameras home security video surveillance covert video surveillance
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

The Economy and Its Affect on America's Crime Rate: Past & Future

In the 1990s the crime rate in the U.S. dropped dramatically in all significant categories, including violent crime and property crime. Some experts attribute this drop to the strong economy that existed throughout most of the decade, when the per capita income increased by as much as 30% and the unemployment rate dropped by 2%.(1) These numbers have pushed many experts in the field to speculate on the potential effects that today's recessed economy will have on the crime rate for the foreseeable future.

There is no doubt that a strong economy encourages a lower crime rate, for many reasons. While many experts could not directly attribute the drop in violent crime to the increase in economic strength seen in the 1990s, they did attribute it to additional state funding for police departments and crime prevention measures. The drop in property crime, specifically theft, was directly relational to the increase in economic prosperity. **End Summary** Topics: personal protection tasers taser stun gun stun guns stungun stunguns self defense
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

The Top 3 Things You Can Do To Stay Safe

In these troubled economic times we are all on edge. Some statistics are showing the crime rate to be rising and many attribute that to our economic meltdown. Less work available, less money in everyone’s pockets and some people taking drastic measures to get money. Too many people are taking the “Desperate times call for desperate measures” saying to a whole new level by resorting to acts of crime. Do not fall victim to a crime.

Below are the top 3 things you can do to protect yourself from becoming a victim.

1/ Always Be Aware of Your Surroundings – We have all heard this little nugget of wisdom but too often we fail to practice it. Practice being more observant of things and people around you. If you get into the habit of being aware of what is going on around you, you will be able to detect potential dangerous situations and avoid them.

As an example, picture the last time you were at a shopping mall or other busy parking lot. **End Summary** Topics: personal protection tasers taser stun gun stun guns stungun stunguns self defense
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

10 Easy Steps to Prevent a Home Burglary

1/ Make sure there are no shrubs or trees blocking the view of windows and doors.

When shrubs and trees block the view of windows and doors it gives a burglar a place to hide while they are trying to break into your home. Nobody passing by will be able to see them as they are attempting to break in.

2/ Install motion sensor lighting around the perimeter of your home.

Exterior lighting is one of the best defenses against a home break in at night. The burglar does not want to be seen. Very often if a motion activated light comes on the burgalar will leave the area immediately.

3/ Make sure all door and window locks actually lock.

We have all had the situation where the window lock or door lock simply was not working and we think, “Oh, I’ll get around to replacing that soon.” Well, believe me, the burglar will find it and use that means to enter your house. Fix all locks today.

4/ When leaving your home during the day leave the TV or radio on.

A burglar will usually try to avoid an occupied home. They normally do not want a confrontation. **End Summary** Topics: Home security home safety home alarms home burglary protection
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Types Of Self Defense

There are many different types of self defense you should learn how to use if you are looking for methods of personal protection. These different types of defense include pepper spray, stun guns, and tasers. These are very effective methods of disabling a person so you can run away.

Pepper spray is a self defense spray that is made of cayenne pepper. This spray is in an aerosol can and sprays in foams and even streams. This solution burns so bad that it will cause temporary disabling effects on a person for up to several hours. A person will be temporarily blinded, choke and gasp for air, and their skin will even burn. All of these effects are temporary and a person will not experience anything that is permanent to the person. You can stand up to 15 feet away from an assailant and the spray will be effective. You do not have to be close up. This type of self defense mechanism works for up to 30 minutes to several hours and gives you plenty of time to get away.

Tasers are 100% effective in disabling a person and best for police work and catching someone. **End Summary** Topics: tasers taser stun gun stun guns stungun stunguns self defense
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Dating Tips and Personal Protection

There are many things to consider when you are going out on a date. Many women go on blind dates all of the time and they don't realize they are hours away from being raped when they could have seen the signs, used personal protection products, and done things differently.

Dating is when you first get to know someone. It is common for most people to know nothing about their date the first few times they go out. They are in vulnerable situations. The first few dates are often when rapes and attacks occur. How are you supposed to get to know someone if you don't go on a date?

One of the ways you can make your night safer is to suggest a double date situation. This will allow you to go with one of your friends that you are comfortable with. If your new date doesn't agree or refuses then you may not want to go out with the guy. He should understand it is a safety thing.

You should always pay attention to the body language of a date. **End Summary** Topics: women self defense women self defense women's self defense stungun stunguns stun gun stun guns tasers pepper spray
About the Author:
For more information about <a href="http://www.YourGreatestProtection.com">Self Defense For Women</a> visit Jim's site, Your Greatest Protection.
Reasons You Might Use Digital Voice Recorders

Too many times people come across situations that they wish they had a witness when a conversation took place. When it turns out to be your word against the other person and no one seems to believe you over the other guy. You can protect yourself now by using digital voice recorders.

One of the biggest reasons to carry voice recorders is for protection. There is nothing like not having any proof over a verbal conversation when you have no way to prove someone is being deceitful. Work can be a very competitive environment and anyone will throw you under the bus to get ahead in the world, even if it means lying, cheating, or even stealing. When all you want is to go to work and get the job done digital voice recorders can protect you and your reputation. Now you can record conversations you have and meetings you attend so there are no issues about who said what.

Another reason to use digital voice recorders is that you need to protect yourself at work by getting the details. For example, a doctor talks to fifteen patients or more a day. **End Summary** Topics: voicerecorders voice recorders voice recorder voicerecorder digital voice recorder digital voice recorders
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

There are many different types of digital voice recorders you might consider if you are looking for something that is discrete and hard to be recognized as a voice recorder. You can choose from things like pen voice recorders and wrist watch voice recorders.

There are many times that you would like to record a conversation but you don’t have a way to do it. Voice recorders are small and capable of fitting in your pocket. You can turn on the recorder and it will record just fine. The digital voice recorders are capable of recording through clothing and still giving you top quality audio.

One of the excellent choices are the pen voice recorders. These work and function as a pen. You can use them throughout the day and when you need to record something you will hit the record button and begin recording the conversation. Many of the pen voice recorders can hold up to 7 hours of audio. This means if you are stuck in an extremely long meeting then you will be able to record the entire thing. **End Summary** Topics: voicerecorders voice recorders voice recorder voicerecorder digital voice recorder digital voice recorders
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Burglary Prevention - What To Do, Now

The latest statistics from 2006 show that there were 2,669,050 household burglaries that year. That equals 1 household burglary occurring every 12 seconds. Are you doing everything you should be doing so as not to become a victim? There are some easy things you can do to avoid being burglarized.

Burglars do not like to be seen - That is a simple fact. They like to do what they do when no one can see them. Cut away hedges and bushes that are blocking a clear view of your windows. No matter how small the window is make sure there is a clear view of it by a passer-by, your neighbors to the sides or your neighbors to your backyard. You might have to give up a little privacy but you greatly reduce your chances of being burglarized.

Exterior lighting - Light up the area around your home at night, especially around doorways. If you go out for the evening make sure you turn your outside lights on. Burglars like to work in dark areas and will avoid a home that is lit up and clearly visible from the street. **End Summary** Topics: burglary prevention alarms surveillance cameras security cameras hidden cameras your greatest protection
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

Reasons to Use Disguised Pepper Spray

There are many reasons you should consider carrying a canister of pepper spray. However, a canister of disguised pepper spray can be your best option. This is because it gives the attacker a bigger surprise, results in a better shot, looks like something else, and makes you feel more confident.

Pepper sprays come in many different types of containers that are disguises that look real. You can find pepper spray in many different containers like a tube of lipstick. This way you may appear to be grabbing at your lipstick but really give him a shot in the face instead. You can purchase pepper spray in the form of a pager with a side clasp on it. This will allow you to wear your pepper spray on your belt buckle or even put it on the visor in the car. This gives you quick and easy access to it without fumbling around in your purse or briefcase for it.

When you use pepper spray in a lipstick container the attacker has no idea that is what you are grabbing for. **End Summary** Topics: disguised ppepper spray self defense stun guns tasers personal protection your greatest protection crime assault crime prevention
About the Author:
Jim Wilkinson is the Vice President of <a href="http://www.yourgreatestprotection.com">

If you are using pepper spray for personal protection and self defense there are many things that you should consider with this product. There are risk factors and they can be dangerous.

Pepper spray is not deadly. Many people think they could die from pepper spray but this is not the case. It will burn the skin badly and be fine once washed off with water. There are no permanent effects of pepper spray.

Pepper sprays are not for children and they should not be in the reach of children, ever sprayed at children, and more. Children always like to play with sprays and they will spray anything all over any place. Your perfumes may get sprayed, Lysol, air fresheners and more. However, when your child reaches for the pepper spray it can cause hours of pain that you really would have wished you avoided. Keep the sprays away from reach of your children.
