There is a Continuing Desperate Need for Substance Abuse Treatment Programs in Oklahoma

On the one hand, it is reported by the White House Drug Policy that 16,860 individuals were admitted to substance abuse treatment facilities of all sorts in 2007. However, according to National Survey on Drug Use and Health data in 2005-2006, approximately 77,000 Oklahoma residents reported needing but not receiving treatment for illicit drug use. It is probably safe to say that the other 60,000+ are still addicted and do not know what to do about their addictions. Unfortunately, many of these people feel like it is a lost cause and they should give up hope.

One of the complications Oklahomans face is seeking a substance abuse treatment facility that is going to handle all aspects of their addiction. Narconon Arrowhead provides a full addiction assessment to find out what steps need to be taken to get a full recovery. Many Oklahomans have addictions so severe that they will need to enter a long-term, residential drug rehabilitation program to handle their addictions fully.

“Our program is well aware of the desperate need for substance abuse treatment in Oklahoma,” states Rebecca Pool, C.A.D.C. (Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor). **End Summary** Topics: drug rehab narconon ecstasy addiction drug addiction treatment drug rehab center
About the Author:

Why “self-help” groups found the highest attendees of those receiving substance abuse treatment

Often self-help is free or really low cost. Meetings are scheduled around the nation in most towns and cities where those addicted can go and share with others similarly afflicted and hopefully gain strength and encouragement to get them through the ravages of cravings, pent up guilt and overwhelming depression which almost always accompanies withdrawal and abstinence from drugs or alcohol. With millions addicted in the U.S. alone, there is plenty of need.

All too often though a person trying desperately to rid themselves of the addiction related burdens they bare discover that they lack the skills, fortitude and sheer willpower to “white knuckle it” or tough out the tremendous challenges associated with substance abuse. Bill K., a poly-drug abuser from Seattle explains, “I tried everything I could to stay away from the drugs and the people I used with but it seemed as though the drugs called my name. From the time I woke up in the morning until I went to sleep at night it became one long agonizing day after another filled with the secret desire to use while constantly being forced me to abstain. **End Summary** Topics: drug rehab narconon drug addiciton treatment
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.methamphetamineaddiction.com">www.stopaddiction.com</a>

New “Elixir” Claims Success in Treating Cocaine Addiction

Many experienced drug rehab professionals are not so enthused about the prospect of a new wonder drug that will treat cocaine addiction with any success. “It is just history repeating itself in regard to drug addiction,” said Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor for the Narconon Arrowhead residential drug rehabilitation program, Rebecca Pool, C.A.D.C.. “In the 1800’s heroin was invented and promoted to treat morphine and opium addiction. Morphine addicts became heroin addicts. Methadone, developed by the Nazi’s during World War II, was promoted as a cure to treat heroin addiction in the early 1970’s. Subsequently heroin addicts became methadone addicts. Then came suboxone to treat methadone addiction leading to methadone users getting hooked on suboxone and so the story goes. Developing new drugs to treat drug addiction has not worked, history tells us that.”

It is well known that a large portion of the addiction treatment industry has settled on substitute medications as a means to prevent addicts from falling back into their unhealthy lifestyle. **End Summary** Topics: drug rehab narconon drug rehab centers cocaine addiction
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.stopaddiction.com">www.stopaddiction.com</a>

New Study Verifies Addiction Increases Risk of Suicide Amongst Those Addicted

Out of the 8.3 million considering suicide, 2.3 million Americans made a plan in the last year while 1.1 million adults had actually attempted suicide in the last year. Factoring into the risk levels was gender, age and history of substance abuse. Substance abuse, not surprisingly, increased the risk of seriously considering, planning or attempting suicide. It was found that people experiencing substance abuse disorders within the past year were more than three times as likely to have seriously considered committing suicide as those not battling substance abuse. Those with past year substance abuse were four times more likely to have planned a suicide than those without substance abuse disorders and nearly seven times more likely to have attempted suicide.

These numbers are tragic but not altogether too surprising when taking into consideration the lifestyle of a person caught in the cycle of addiction. Most people tried a drug to avoid a problem and then continued with taking drugs instead of handling the problems in their life, finding them actually worse than at first and now finding themselves addicted to their drug of choice. **End Summary** Topics: drug rehab narconon herion addiction
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.heroinaddiction.com">www.heroinaddiction.com</a>

Drug Abuse Prevention San Francisco

In San Francisco like many other places in the U.S drug abuse prevention is high on the to do list. School aged children are the primary target for prevention awareness information because the earlier they learn the truth about drugs and alcohol the easier it will be for them to make rational decisions and avoid addiction themselves. Most school curriculums have some sort of drug education for students of all ages. Programs like D.A.R.E. and many others have been helping children stay drug free for over ten years. Narconon’s premier facility Narconon Arrowhead has been delivering drug education to school children and through out communities since 2001.

Today’s children are faced with more pressures than children where 50 years ago. There are also many more types of drugs readily available for children to get their hands on. Children are being prescribed more and more psychotropic drugs by doctors for things such as ADHD ( Attention Deficient Hypertension Disorder). They are starting to experiment on their own at earlier ages with drugs and alcohol because they have poor or little supervision. **End Summary** Topics: Metro San Francisco Drug Rehab Outpatient Rehab San Franci
About the Author:
One of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitation centers in the world.

In San Francisco there are many who suffer from heroin addiction. Heroin is processed from morphine which is extracted from the seed pods of the poppy plant. It is usually injected, snorted/sniffed or smoked. Abusers of the drug take great risks every time they use since they never know how potent the drug is or what it may be cut with. Injection of the drug gives the user a rapid onset of euphoria that lasts about 7-8 seconds and tends to be the most predominant method of heroin use among those who are seeking treatment. Heroin addiction is killing people everyday and Narconon’s premier facility Narconon Arrowhead located in Oklahoma wants to help save those lives and we have been since 2001 when we opened are doors.

There are thousands of treatment types offered through out the U.S to help those who are addicted. Finding the right treatment for you or your loved one can be a challenge especially if your not sure what to look for. People always want the easiest quickest fix for just about everything these days but, when we are talking about addiction it’s not an over night quick fix. **End Summary** Topics: Metro San Francisco Drug Rehab Outpatient Rehab San Franci
About the Author:
One of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitation centers in the world.

The Office of Drug Control Policy reported the percent of students reporting lifelong alcohol abuse for 7th graders was 17.9%, 8th graders were 40.9% and 9th graders were 61.9%. Also reported for the year 2005 were 15,705 people who were admitted to treatment for alcohol addiction which rose to 19.157 people admitted for alcohol addiction treatment in 2006. Effective education regarding the dangers and addictive qualities of alcohol along with effective alcohol rehabilitation can dramatically decrease this statistic. This is where Narconon Arrowhead is a leader. Not only does Narconon Arrowhead educate the youth and residents of San Francisco about the dangers of alcohol but also provides effective rehabilitation services for alcohol addiction with a 70% success rate for those already caught in the devastating downward spiral of alcohol addiction.

Many begin drinking socially to feel more comfortable in a crowd. Many begin drinking when a problem they can not handle arises and they want to soften the edges of that problem. Before they know it they must drink to interact with others and to handle any problem that arises in their life. **End Summary** Topics: Metro San Angeles Drug Rehab Alcohol Rehab San Francisco
About the Author:
One of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitation centers in the world.

Spending for treatment in the state of California has doubles since the year 2000 when voters passed Proposition 36, a policy that seeks

alternatives to incarceration for drug offenders. The prison population has decreased from 27 percent to 21 percent and taxpayers have been

able to save hundreds of millions of dollars by investing their money in treatment programs instead of paying for prison terms which do not

solve offenders addiction problems. The rate of imprisonment for drug possession offenses has decreased by more the 34 percent and residents

support the movement because it is helping save lives instead of destroying them. Narconon’s premier facility Narconon Arrowhead located in

Oklahoma has been delivering drug education lectures across the nation since 2000 in an attempt to stop addiction before it starts through

education.

SACPA - Substance Abuse and Crime Prevention Act of 2000 ( Prop.36) became an effective law on July 1, 2001. The intent of the program is to

allow first and second time non-violent drug offenders who use, possess, or transport illegal drugs to receive treatment instead of being

incarcerated. The SACPA program was designed to firstly preserve jail and prison cells for violent and serious offenders. **End Summary** Topics: Metro Los Angeles Drug Rehab Outpatient Rehab Los Angeles
About the Author:
One of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitation centers in the world.

All major drugs of abuse are readily available in the Los Angeles Central District. According to law enforcement officials, powdered and

crack cocaine and methamphetamine present the most significant threats. Do to the ready availability of the high-purity, highly addictive

properties of these drugs, many Los Angeles residents are caught in the downward spiral of addiction without seeing any way out from this

nightmare. Narconon Arrowhead has the solution by offering effective inpatient drug and alcohol rehab with a 70% success rate along with drug

education to over 65,000 youth about the realities and consequences of drugs and alcohol.

When a person becomes addicted to drugs or alcohol, treatment is what is given, but rehabilitation is what is needed to fully recover. The

definition for treatment is to care for or deal with medically or surgically. This is where the substitute drugs and quick patch” programs

fall in place, but don’t always provide an effective solution.

The definition for rehabilitation is to restore to a former capacity. This simply means for a person to be in the condition he was in before

he had the ailments and the subsequent addiction. **End Summary** Topics: Metro Los Angeles Drug Rehab Inpatient Rehab Los Angeles
About the Author:
One of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitation centers in the world.

According to the Los Angeles High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Drug Market Analysis, Los Angeles is one of the nation’s principal illicit

drug production and distribution centers in the United States. One of the reasons for this is because drug traffickers smuggle drugs that are

produced in Mexico over the border and into the state. The most prevalent drugs that are reported in the Los Angeles area are marijuana,

cocaine, methamphetamine, PCP, Mexican black tar heroin, and MDMA. These drugs are readily available and abused on a daily basis.

The DEA and Law Enforcement of Los Angeles are putting forth their best effort in trying to shut down the production and trafficking of these

drugs. They have already tightened the ropes on Los Angeles International Airport and crossing the border as well. Although they are so

diligently trying to stop the drug world, it is still going strong.

Methamphetamine or Ice” is a highly toxic and addictive illicit drug being used by a growing number of adolescents and adults. It is one of

the most prevalent drugs found and being abuse in Los Angeles. An estimated 1.3 million individuals reported using methamphetamine over a

year span. **End Summary** Topics: Metro Los Angeles Drug Rehab Drug Rehab Los Angeles
About the Author:
One of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitation centers in the world.

Drinking and driving in America today is a huge problem. An estimated 13.6% of people aged 12 or older drove under the influence of alcohol at least once in the last 12 months. Those who get behind the wheel of a car after having been drinking do not understand the gravity of the action they are taking. Effective alcohol education for the youth of Los Angeles can help arm them against making wrong choices regarding alcohol and avoid a battle with an alcohol addiction later in life. Education regarding both alcohol and drugs must start at a young age to prepare today’s youth with correct information of the dangers of alcohol and drug use. Narconon Arrowhead is a leader in educating America’s youth regarding alcohol and drug abuse/addiction and also provides effective alcohol rehabilitation with an over 70% success rate.

Many people do not consider alcohol to be dangerous or addictive. Alcohol decreases the ability of a person to be in present time and aware of their surroundings. At first a person who has been drinking may appear to be more self-confident or daring, but what actually happens is that their attention span shortens and their judgment is decreased. **End Summary** Topics: Metro Los Angeles Drug Rehab Alcohol Rehab Los Angeles
About the Author:
One of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitaion centers in the world.

Los Angeles residents face the problems of drug abuse daily just like any other city in the U.S except in Los Angles methamphetamine is the number one drug of abuse. As methamphetamine abuse rises what is being done to protect LA youngsters from following in the foot steps of those who have already gone down the path of addiction. The D.A.R.E program is deep rooted in Los Angeles as well as other cities across the nation. Drug Abuse Resistance Education is (D.A.R.E) is coordinated nationally in schools for children in kindergarten through 12th grade to help them develop skills to resist substance abuse, violence and gangs.
New York State Department of Correctional Services (DOCS) began a new Work Release program in 2007 for inmates who were eligible. The outpatient programs chemical dependence assessments and counseling are provided by (OASAS) Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services a not-for- profit organization, which has administered a federal grant for the project of $500,000. Work release participants are chosen by the DOCS. The DOCS has a thorough screening process that they use to determine if an inmate who is close to release from their prison term is eligible to enter the program. Narconon Arrowhead the premier Narconon Center located in Oklahoma supports this type of program because it helps inmates get ready to return to society as productive law abiding citizens.

Although, outpatient rehab is never a substitute for a good long term inpatient program, giving these chemically dependent inmates a chance to deal with the addictions that landed them in prison in the first place will help them become more stable as they re-enter society. The Work Release program is the three part program. In the 1st phase the inmates do six months of residential treatment in a correctional annex. **End Summary** Topics: Metro New York City Drug Rehab Outpatient Drug Rehab New Y
About the Author:

In January of 2009 the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) announced the winners of its substance abuse prevention grant competition. Nonprofit groups in Appalachia designed projects addressing substance abuse issues and a total of $296,800 was awarded amongst the nine winners. In New York the grant was given to the Steuben County Department of Community Services in order to help overcome service gaps in addiction assessments and treatments for incarcerated persons. Narconon’s premier facility Narconon Arrowhead located in Oklahoma has been helping in the fight against drug abuse since 2000 by delivering drug education lectures across the nation in an attempt to prevent drug addiction before it ever starts.

ARC Federal Co-Chair Anne B. Pope stated: At ARC we are committed not only to understanding the economic development problems facing the Region; we are also committed to doing something about them. Those problems include substance abuse, which can sap the quality of the Region’s labor force. These grants are an important step in assisting communities in improving their intervention and service programs dealing with illegal drugs and prescription drug abuse.”

Drug abuse prevention programs are needed in every state in the nation in today’s world. **End Summary** Topics: Metro New York City Drug Rehab Outpatient Drug Rehab New Y
About the Author:

On April 2, 2009 the Senate passed the Rockefeller Drug Law Reforms in New York which will enable the state to help rehabilitate non-violent addicted criminals instead of incarcerating them. The Rockefeller Drug Laws were passed in 1973 as a one size fits all punitive approach which has wasted billions of dollars instead of allowing non-violent addicted criminals to have the option of rehabilitation. Right now in New York there are approximately 12,000 non-violent offenders in prison which cost the state on average $45,000 a year per inmate. The cost of inpatient drug rehab is roughly around $30,000 and will be more beneficial ending the cycle of addiction and allowing these non-violent offenders to once again become productive drug free members of society. Narconon Arrowhead is one the largest and most successful inpatient rehabilitation program in the world and offers 24 hours a day care to our clients.

When it comes to drug abuse prevention there are several ideas, theories and methods that one can look to. The seizure of methamphetamine by law enforcement in the Minneapolis area was one of the major contributing factors of the reduction of methamphetamine use from 2006 to 2008. Reports show a decline of patients into treatment as well, 5.5 percent in 2008 compared to 12 percent in 2005. The numbers are still decreasing which is partly due to education resources being administered across the state in an attempt to educate children and parents about the dangers of methamphetamine and other drugs. Narconon Arrowhead, one the largest and most successful drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers in the world, has been delivering drug education lectures to help educate people about drugs and drug abuse since 2001.

Drug abuse prevention starts at home. When parents talk openly and communicate with their children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol it helps the child in tremendous ways. Children are often hesitant to talk about the things that go on at school with their friends to their parents for fear of being picked on or becoming an outcast. **End Summary** Topics:
About the Author:

Minneapolis, home of the Twin Cities, is finding itself in a significant upward trend since 2008 when it comes to heroin and opiate addiction. Treatment admissions for heroin and other opiates combined have increased 14.9 percent from 2007 to 2008 and are still on the rise. The DEA’s Heroin Domestic Monitor Program reports that the city has the highest level of purity of Mexican heroin than any other city that is reporting. Among those cities, Minneapolis also has the lowest prices per milligram. Researchers think that heroin use will continue to increase among those addicted to opiate based prescription narcotics if it is found to be a more affordable alternative in the future. Narconon Arrowhead has been helping patients recover from heroin addiction and other addictions since 2001 when we opened our doors.

Heroin is made from morphine which is extracted from the seed pods of Asian opium poppy plants and is highly addictive. It can be snorted/sniffed, injected and smoked by the user. Once the user is dependent on the drug they must use more and more to get high and if they try to abruptly stop they will experience severe withdrawal symptoms. **End Summary** Topics: Metro Minneapolis Drug Rehab Outpatient Drug Rehab Minn
About the Author:

In Hennepin County Minneapolis drug offenders now have the opportunity to get clean. Drug court started in Hennepin in January 1997 as a direct response to the increased number of drug abusing criminal offenders in Minneapolis. The drug court program has been going strong and seeing great results since and has shown to be the most innovative and responsive way to deal with one of the most disturbing trends in criminal justice. The program launched as a bold experiment that is now working and will continue to be utilized to help move felony cases through the system more quickly and link offenders with much needed services like probation, drug treatment, housing, training and employment. Narconon Arrowhead has been helping to educate people in the community since 2000 be delivering drug education lectures.

Drug rehab is the most effective way for drug abusing criminal offenders to get their lives turned around for the better. Often times in the past, it was believed that if you locked up a drug abuser and thought him/her a lesson it would solve their addiction. That theory has proven to be not true for the majority. **End Summary** Topics: Metro Minneapolis Drug Rehab Drug Rehab Minneapolis
About the Author:
http://www.stopaddiction.com/index.php/Metro/Minneapolis-Area-Drug-Rehab/index.html

It is a proven fact that once a child/teenager begins smoking marijuana the odds that they will progress to harder, illicit drugs increases four times that of a person who does not smoke marijuana. The easy availability and high addictive qualities of these drugs not only ruin the lives of those who are addicted, but also those who love and care for them. Narconon Arrowhead has an effective inpatient drug and alcohol rehab with a 70% success rate along with drug education to over 65,000 youth about the realities and consequences of drugs and alcohol.

According to the 2006 NSDUH data, approximately 100,000 Minnesota citizens reported needing but not receiving treatment for illicit drug use while in January 2008, 20% of the inmate population of the Minnesota Dept. of Corrections were incarcerated for drug offenses and 50% of Federally-sentenced defendants had also committed drug offenses. Those incarcerated do not learn how to live a responsible, productive drug free life while in jail. Jail is the end result of the lifestyle for those addicted to drugs. **End Summary** Topics: Metro Minneapolis Drug Rehab Alcohol Rehab Minneapolis
About the Author:
http://www.stopaddiction.com/index.php/Metro/Minneapolis-Area-Drug-Rehab/index.html

Each year in Illinois, hundreds of people die needlessly as the result of driving after drinking. Hundreds more are seriously injured or permanently disabled, and millions of dollars of property damage occur indicating an urgent need for alcohol education and effective alcohol rehabilitation.

Zero tolerance is a state law that went into effect on January 1, 1995 for drivers under the age of 21 in the state of Illinois. The law provides for suspension of the driving privileges of any person under the age of 21 who drives after consuming alcohol. Like the name zero tolerance suggests, any trace of alcohol in a young person's system can result in a suspended drivers license. Even with this law in effect each year there are about 3,000 zero tolerance violations recorded. With 3,000 violations a year despite the enforcement of this law shows a vital need for alcohol education and alcohol rehabilitation for those already caught in the grip of alcohol addiction.
Between 2000 and 2005, there was a 50% increase in the percentage of people (aged 12 or older) reporting dependence on or abuse of alcohol a problem that now affects one in ten Arizonans. This trend of youth starting to drink at a young age sets a pattern for the rest of their lives as shown in the 516 juveniles AND 34,859 adults arrested for DUI. If the adults had been given effective alcohol education in their youth this statistic could have been dramatically decreased. This is where Narconon Arrowhead is a leader. Not only does Narconon Arrowhead educate our youth about the dangers of alcohol but also provides rehabilitation services for alcohol and drug addiction with a 70% success rate for those already caught in the devastating downward spiral of either alcohol or drug addiction.

Baltimore like most cities has an increasing drug abuse problem. Studies are being done to find out why. Baltimore is a high-intensity drug trafficking area and the neighborhoods within the inner city suffer greatly due to drug trafficking organizations (DOTs) which produce, manufacture, transport and distribute the chronic use of illegal drugs in the area. Dr. Nurco of the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine is focusing his work on drug abuse prevention and treatment with inner city children and their families in Baltimore. Narconon Arrowhead has been delivering drug education since 2000 to help educate children and their families about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Dr. Nurco’s early research in the 1960’s studied a series of exploratory investigations involving 130 agencies and schools providing an in- depth look into drug abuse as a public health problem. This research found that most people were ignorant about drug abuse and that in the schools principles and teachers were reluctant to admit that there were drug problems within the schools for fear that they would be blamed. His current research is examining vulnerability to narcotic addiction. Why do some people become addicts and others don’t? **End Summary** Topics: outpatient Drug Rehab Drug Rehab Baltimore Narconon Outp
About the Author:
One of the largest and most successful drug rehabilitation centers in the world.

With a population of almost 2,000,000 Phoenix AZ is one city that has its work cut out for it. The residents here face problems of drug addiction and high crime rates like other cities in America but, Phoenix has something else to worry about, the smuggling of humans across the border.
