Often when you are playing internet poker you will be playing with large groups of people and everyone wants to be able to enjoy the game. It is important that you play the game as fast as possible.
Riding the Casino Buzz

When I visited Monte Carlo, Monaco a few weeks ago I ran into an old colleague, we had been in the same card counting team almost twenty years ago, we sat down at Havana Café and we discussed old memories, she had spent all the time since we met the last time at the Blackjack tables in Atlantic City, US, while I had spent my time at the European casinos. After half an hour of old memories we slided in to how the casino world has developed since it went online.

A business, a world going online usually make things easier, but the question is if it really has with the online gambling business. For starters it is not that easy to protect yourself against credit card fraud and rigged games and to kill a myth, when I'm writing this (December 2005) it doesn't exist any kind of authority to control the online casinos.

But that's not the most important. What you really should ask yourself is if gambling really is more available than it was fifteen years ago, when the online casino world began to develop.** End Summary**
About the Author:
For more poker strategy articles please visit http://www.playsolidpoker.com/ and check out some of the great deals for online poker rooms like Poker Ocean as well as many online poker bonuses for the most popular online poker sites.

Make Sure your Home is Ready to Sell

Don’t put that sign up until you’ve had a chance to take a good look around at what you’re selling. Is there work to be done? Remember that you’re only going to get one chance to make a good first impression, so don’t blow it!

Go on a “clean and repair mission” starting with the outside of your home. Walk out to the curb and take a good look at the landscaping and exterior of the house. What do you see? If you see dead plants, scattered toys, garbage cans, broken tree limbs, or anything else distracting, here's what I suggest:

“If it’s ugly, dead, distracting, out of place, or in any other way has a negative impact on the overall look or feel of your home, GET RID OF IT! If you can’t get rid of it, do your best to cover it up. If you can’t cover it up, do your best to divert attention from it by highlighting other areas.”

When you get to the interior, it’s clean and light (not dark), and roomy and spacious (not cluttered), that buyers want and expect to see. That means you should clean the house floor to ceiling.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a private real estate investor who runs several private ventures including startup companies.
While we all know that the game of poker, is all about taking a chance, many people have developed techniques and strategies that can help you improve your game of poker. The key to being a successful poker playing is having extensive knowledge of the specific poker game you play, the better you understand the game, the better understanding you will have about the players along side of you. This is important to mastering the game of poker and can mean every difference in the world between win or lose when it comes time to play.

Yes, your poker game can only be as good as the hand you are dealt; however, a crucial part of the game is how you play the hand in the first place.
Avoiding Going on Tilt in Poker

Being on a tilt is a poker term used to imply the condition of a player when he is frustrated and on an aggressive losing spree. Sounds like a scary situation but do not be surprised if you find yourself on a tilt every once in a while.

Coming to a tilt situation is not hard but avoiding it is harder. Most players reach a tilt after they have suffered a bad beat. For instance, you had a great set of cards in a game; the flop was a set of reasonably good cards.

Assuming that these are great cards to play with and you decide to do some aggressive betting. Follow this up with a few more good cards. You end up betting a lot of money and finally your one of your opponent has a straight of a flush or something. You end up with potentially good cards but no-win and end up losing a lot of money. In poker, this would be a bad beat.

If you are someone who thinks really positive or just plain lose sight of ground reality, you may tend to bet in a very similar manner in the subsequent games.** End Summary**
About the Author:
For more poker strategy articles please visit http://www.playsolidpoker.com/ and check out some of the great deals for online poker rooms like Poker Ocean as well as many online poker bonuses for the most popular online poker sites.

Playing Low Rebuy Poker Tournaments

After you have had some tournament experience with at least some success, I highly recommend playing the low buy-in re-buy tournaments at party poker, where you will find a lot of weak opponents, excellent blind structure, and decent prize pools for final table play.

The 3 and 6 dollar tourneys are a little deceiving because virtually nobody does just a single buy-in. It is not unusual to see 3 to 1 ratio of re-buys to entries. So going into a 6 dollar tourney is like a 15 or 20 dollar tournament in terms of the prize pool. That is how you should look at it as well. Go into these things with the idea of spending at least 6 to 10 rebuys. Think of it this way; You are in a regular poker tournaments. Rebuy as soon as you sit at the table. You are allowed to add one if your stack is 3000 or less. Add a rebuy every time you go all in on a hand, while the hand is in play, and every time your stack happens to dip below the 3000 chip level.** End Summary**
About the Author:
For more poker strategy articles from Marc you can always visit his website, http://www.playsolidpoker.com/ and check out some of his great deals for online poker rooms like Poker Ocean and Titan Poker as well as many online poker bonuses.

Speed Writing

If you’re the kind of person who usually spends 45 minutes to write 3 sentences, you’re not alone! I am constantly surrounded by people who keep asking me, “How do you write so fast so much?” Erm….taking the mistakes and simple spelling errors into account?

Well, here’s the thing. You don’t really need REAL talent to write fast and I am telling you how over here.

STEP ONE

Write a skeleton. Yes, the skeleton is one of the most important parts of your article or whatever it is that you’re writing. The skeleton will be your guide. Even if you decide not to follow the skeleton later on, it doesn’t matter, you’ll have a structure there that you can change and edit as you see fit as you write on.

STEP TWO

Write. This is where the speed comes in. This is where most people get stuck. I have friends who produce all of 1 word per minute. The problem is that they ponder over the minute details too long too soon! This is not the time to go over the grammatical errors and simple mistakes. The second stage of writing is pretty much like talking.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a father of two and happily married, he devotes most of his time to charity work.
Keeping fit during Pregnancy

It has finally happened! You’re pregnant. You and your husband are so excited to be welcoming a new addition to your family and all of a sudden, an area that you have been trying to make flat for your entire life is as round as a basketball and there is nothing you can do about it, or is there?

Is it possible to feel fit and attractive during your pregnancy, or are you doomed to feel fat, unattractive, and uncomfortable for the next nine months? The answer is…yes! You can feel fit and fabulous during pregnancy! Follow these pregnancy fitness tips and you will survive pregnancy and even feel like a hot mama while doing it!

The best fitness tip that I can give you is to stay active. It is as simple as that. The idea that pregnancy will leave you confined to your couch with fifteen movies and a giant bag of M&M’s is a fallacy! It is however a fact, that most activities that you were doing before pregnancy, you can participate in during pregnancy.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a father of two and happily married, he devotes most of his time to charity work.
How to pick out the right printer

Choosing an output device (notice I did not say "printer") is an arduous task indeed: inkjet, laser, LED, 3-in-1, 5-in-one, 7-in-one, photo printers, MFPs..... the choices are seemingly endless.. To make matters worse, the employee at the big retail/computer/electronics store has held the job for less than a week and is a lot more knowledgeable about PlayStation than anything else. So what do you do? Here's a little quick guide to help you sift through most of the choices.

These tips are based on how much paper you use per month. If you do not know (I wouldn't if somebody asked me), then think of how often you buy paper and how much; then divide by the appropriate timeframe. Regular office paper (A4, letter- or legal-size) normally comes in 500-page reams or 2500 or 5000-sheet boxes. If you buy a 2500-sheet (5 ream) box once a quarter, you therefore use 833 sheets per month.

A - Less than 50 sheets per month: Get as cheap an inkjet as you can - just make sure there are store-brand or knockoff cartridge brands readily available so you can purchase those as soon as the warranty on your printer runs out.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc owns several websites but mainly focuses on technology and poker.
Multi-table Poker Advantages Online

On average a player that has a good working knowledge and experience of playing poker will play no more than 30% of his or her time. Out of that 30%, approximately 15% of this he or she will be folding on the flop. To the untrained eye, this seems like a terrible waste of time, when in fact this is not the case at all. Professional players use this time to learn their opponents “tell”. A “tell” is an involuntary movement, for example an eye blink or anything that indicates as to if the opponent has a weak or strong hand. Reading the opponents body language successfully is essential in the game of poker and players who can do it well increase their odds of winning by a large margin. It’s a war of mind manipulation, usually pro players play against other pro players as they all enjoy and are challenged by trying to read each other’s body language and are equally aware of the benefit of this technique. In order to try and gain the upper hand, it is common for some very skilled players to deliberately fake a “tell” in order to confuse their opponents.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a professional online poker player produces a poker column.
Are you an insatiable poker player seeking a new set of chips? These chips are not only used for playing card games, they can be on the roulette and blackjack tables at casinos. There are many different varieties of poker chip sets, so make sure you get a set that is right for you.

Most of the poker chips are made from plastic but there are also poker chip sets that are made from clay and wood. Apart from these types, poker chips can be composite or even ceramic. Most people have composite sets at home. They are made from high quality resin and some metal, so that the chips weigh according to the regulations.

Poker chips come in different colours and designs. They can be two-toned or three-coloured.
How a Poker Tournament Works

Tournaments are poker competitions where all of the players play at the same time and continue to play until only one player is left. Tournaments are fun to play in, have a low entry fees and offer a large prize pool to be won. For these reasons they are a very popular. They are inexpensive way for novice poker players to learn how to play the game, as well as a providing a place for more experienced players gain experience.

While there are many different types of poker games played at casinos and online rooms, tournament play is usually reserved for Texas Hold'em, Omaha, and 7-card Stud, because these games have a large following.

Poker tournaments can have as few as 6 players (single table tournaments) to thousands of players for larger events. Large tournaments consist of many tables, each table having 8 to 10 players. The tables are slowly removed from the tourney as players are eliminated, and players are balanced from table to table as needed. (These are known as multi-table tournaments). Finally all but the last table will be removed and these last 8 to 10 players play until only one of them remains.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a professional online poker player produces a poker column.
How to manage gambling winnings

Pick up any good book on gambling and you're bound to find at least a page or two that talks about money management. Some keep it brief while others go into great mathematical detail. Some books tell you to manage your money by the playing session, other say by the month and still others come up with complex financial systems. Today, I will share with you two general money management systems that will help you regardless of how intricate you wish to take your money management strategy—even if you have none at all.

Session Management

No matter how detailed you want to get with money management, session management is always a factor. Even the casual gambler should have some sort of session strategy. It's real simple. Before you go to gamble, decide how much money you are willing to lose. Next, decide how much money you would be happy winning. Be realistic. Answers like "as much as I can" are usually what eventual losers say right before they start.

If you are going to risk $100, set a maximum goal at $200. Doubling your money is not bad.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a professional online poker player produces a poker column.
The Texas Holdem Stars

Texas Hold'em has exploded onto the online and television entertainment scenes. Every network has a show or two or three and some networks seem to have built their entire programming around Texas Hold'em. With this rapid increase in programming there have also been rapid ascents for many poker players but who are the true stars? Who are the people you might want to stop and watch?

Without a doubt the granddaddy of all pokers players is Doyle Brunson. The author of what many believe to be the best poker book ever written, "Super System: How I Made Over $1,000,000 Playing Poker", Mr. Brunson also holds nine gold World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets. Nearing seventy-three and with a variety of ailments that limit his mobility, Doyle is nonetheless still a force on the poker circuit, regularly seen at the final tables of many major tournaments. Doyle Brunson straddles the divide between the old world of scruffy, little seen male dominated poker tables and the new world of poker accessible to almost everyone via the Internet. He is revered in both worlds as the first poker superstar.

Daniel Negreanu is new poker.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a professional online poker player produces a poker column.
Playing Pocket Jacks

When I say pocket jacks, I'm referring to two Jacks, pre-flop, in Texas Hold'em. This is the fifth best hand in Texas Hold’em and in general, I would say you should never fold this hand (especially in limit hold’em). But it is definitely one of those hands to be careful with.

Pocket Jacks is especially tricky for one main reason. The most important thing to realize about this hand is that if you raise too big with this hand, normally the only people who will call you are people who can beat you. Therefore, I would suggest a small raise or possibly a reraise preflop with this hand.

Before the flop, successful Texas Hold’em strategy is pretty straightforward using your top ten hand strategy. In general, you should raise every time you have a top ten hand and you should fold the rest of your hands to any raise. It is because of this basic strategy of Texas Hold'em, that this raise with pocket jacks is especially important.

Raise too big and get a caller, then you are starting out way behind.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a professional poker player who edits a poker column in his spare time. Watch out if you start playing because it might just get you. It's a fun, I mean really, really fun.

Texas poker even has different versions, as there are ‘no limit’, ‘pot limit’, and ‘fixed limit’ variations. These all referred to various wagering limits during the course of a given hand, the basic rules of the games themselves remained unchanged. The no limit version is the kind played on television. It is probably the most exciting and that is why it gets so much airtime. In no limit poker, a player can make the famous ‘all-in’ bet at during any round of betting. In pot limit poker, players are limited in their wagering to the size of the pool, or ‘pot’, while betting. Fixed limit poker has hard and fast rules about how much you can bet, or a multiple of the ante, as the betting limit.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a professional online poker player produces a poker column.
Texas Holdem Sit and Go Strategy - Final Table Strategy

When I first started playing in Sit and Go tournaments, I was beginning to think they called it "sit and go" because you sat down, played a little, then it was time to go do something else since you'd just been whacked and knocked out of the tournament! These tournaments can be really tough, since they're effectively like being at the "final table" of a regular tournament.

The recent popularity of playing online Sit & Go tournaments sometimes amazes me. On any given evening, you can try to jump into a Sit and Go (SNG) table on Party Poker, for example, and easily find yourself competing just to get into a seat before that table fills up, forcing you to go find another table (especially on lower-entry fee tables). I've seen times when it can take up to 10 attempts to get into a Sit and Go tournament table during prime time. That's because there are literally thousands of players across the world who are hungry to get into these tournaments and hopefully win some money.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a professional online poker player produces a poker column.
Stock Purchasing 101

Investing for the future is important if you ever plan to retire. One form of investment is buying stocks in corporations. Stocks represent a portion of a company, so when you buy stocks, you are essentially buying into the company. You can benefit from any profits it makes, but you can also lose money if the company’s performance, or the market as a whole, goes down.

When you look at investing in stocks, you may want to consult a financial advisor who works with stocks and mutual funds for a living. He or she will have knowledge of which stocks you should buy and which ones you should avoid. If you wish to choose the companies you will invest in, look for companies that are growing and offer some stability. Also, if sales in, say, electronics are very high, you may want to invest in a company that manufactures electronics. Take some time to research the stock market before you make your investment decisions.

Once you have decided on some stocks you would like to purchase, you’ll need to pay attention to what the market is doing.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a professional poker player who edits a poker column in his spare time.
The Importance of Visual Aids in Presentations

Have you ever attended a presentation where the speaker read directly from her/his PowerPoint slides? Did you wonder why they didn't just give you the handout and let you go home?

PowerPoint and other visuals are tools to supplement your presentation; many presenters, however, hide behind their visuals as a way to avoid interacting with the audience.

Here are some ways your visuals can enhance your presentations, rather than putting your audience to sleep.

Pointer #1: Stand and face the audience

I recently attended a presentation where the speaker sat at a table and pushed keys on her laptop to run her slides. She sat facing sideways, looking from her computer to the screen on the left (to read the many bullet points), then back to the audience on her right. It was an uncomfortable setup, and she had to contort her body to see the audience and still manipulate the keyboard.

Sitting in a chair diminishes your authority and makes eye contact difficult in a presentation or workshop setting.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a professional poker player who edits a poker column in his spare time.
Suited Cards in Texas Holdem

The probability of being dealt any two suited Hold'em cards is a whopping 23.5% , and each player is likely to get many suited hands every session. A strategy that properly takes into account when being suited positively changes your hand expectation is needed, as new or weak players that choose to play all of those hands will often find their starting requirements are too loose to profit in a game when facing selective aggressive opponents.

When most players think of suited cards, small and middle suited connector hands like 8s,9s often come to mind first. It is totally correct that being suited adds a lot of positive expectation to a hand like 8,9 but more so in un-raised pots with many players rather than short-handed. These type of hands are meant to make straights and flushes which are usually needed at the end of any loose multi-way action, and being suited gives you an extra way to win.

Aside from connectors, many players find it wise to use a general suited guideline when holding big hands when facing raises from players ahead of them.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a saavy investor and professional poker player who edits a poker column in his spare time.
Online Poker Adventures

Worst Bet Ever: Here's a case in point for self-control at the online poker tables if ever we heard one. In December '05, one Carl Valentine agreed to what, on the surface, appeared a modest enough challenge, presented by a multi-millionaire buddy of his. The challenge was this: that by April 18, '06 he, Valentine, send 2 million unique visitors to a website they perversely named savemyfinger.com.

If successful, Valentine will qualify to play in a heads up online poker tournament against said millionaire with 1 million dollars at stake. If Valentine wins the tourney, he scores a million smackers. If he loses, he loses nothing. So far, so good.

But if Valentine fails to generate 2 million unique hits on his site, he will still face off against his childhood pal in a heads up online poker match, but this time he'll be playing for his right index finger. If he wins, he gets to keep all his digits. If he loses, it's off with his finger - and Valentine vies for the title of World's Dumbest Amputee.

Online poker room Poker Heaven has supposedly agreed to host the ludicrous match (whatever the stakes).** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is a saavy investor and professional poker player who edits a poker column in his spare time.
Poker Terms - Racking Off

The term ‘racking off’ may not be overly familiar to most, but the action should ring a bell with everyone. In poker, ‘racking off’ is the name given to the act of unnecessarily discarding your final few dollars, a crime that so many of us are guilty of.

Although it occurs often in tournaments, I frequently witness the faux-pas on the cash tables. A player has just taken a hit, is down to his shrapnel, and, in a fit of frustration, throws it all-in on the very next hand.

So, why does he do this? - Boredom? Anger? To gamble? Wants to leave the table? Loses concept of the value of his remaining chips? The possibilities are endless, but they always lead to one word – ‘Tilt’. Tilt comes in many forms, and ‘racking off’ is certainly one of them. True, it may only be a few dollars, but, over time, these will start to add up.

So, next time you find yourself short stacked, consider either refilling or just leaving the table. Either way, do whatever it takes to stop yourself from unjustifiably wasting those extra pennies.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Marc is the owner of playsolidpoker.com, a website dedicated soley to Online Poker Games and many of the online poker sites that players frequent.
